My hair stylist last October got a tiny darling baby Daschund and SM

a huge hawk was constantly circling around every time she let him out in the yard. Her neighbor was concerned as well. Little Rusty is somewhat bigger now and nothing happened, but I know for sure that the bird had his eye on a very nice dinner.  Like you said, they have to eat, but nature can be cruel sometimes.

LOL! They interviewed his hair stylist on ET or one of those shows and
it was very interesting. Said he is a fanatic about his hair, worse than Clay Aiken. LOL Apparently he chooses all the syles and is pretty demanding in getting what he wants. The week he had the feathered look he had asked for a *Farrah*. So I'm thinking this week must have been a *Cher*? Remember that! Didn't sound like this stylist was too thrilled with him. I guess it's gotten to where everyone wants to see what he will be doing next. He may not sing well but he's no dummy ; )
I used baby oil 1 time on my hair, OMH
it could not be any worse than what you have used and I was having a heck of a time getting it out. My hair was sooooo dry. I worked with some nurses and 1 told me to use rubbing alcohol, that would cut it. Of course after that you might want to use another shampoo but at least it got it out.
Daschund in backyard
My sister adopted a daschund while she is on crutches. It is not working out; she can't walk the dog properly.  She says it was originally an inside/outside dog, she now has him inside, and he is about a year old.  She wants to give him to a friend or me and my 2 kids; my kids are 7 and 8 and have been wanting a dog forever.  We have a big backyard.  Problem is my son is allergic to cats and dogs and allergist does not want a pet in the house.  Question is should I keep a small dog like this in the backyard.  I am afraid that an opposum can get trapped in the backyard with the poor little dog and hurt it.  Other than that, I know the dog will be cared for and walked daily.  I am afraid for its safety.  Also, has anyone ever kept a dog like that outside?  Any tips/advice would be appreciated.
I remember well, my little darling
decided to shave her eyebrows, yes, both of them, 1 day when I was gone. Her father did not even notice. She was around 5 or so. I also cut my bangs when I was little, right before my picture to be made in my recital costume. Ah, little girls.

If you have been seeing the same stylist for a long
time, then I don't think he/she should put this new charge on you.  I would tell him/her that you are not too happy with the price increase since you have been a loyal customer and let her know that in all honesty your hair is short and does not require the cumbersome task of drying long locks.  Ask him/her to recommend a new stylist that does not charge as much at another salon or even within that salon itself.  I'm sure you could work something out.  In our area, the stylist rents the chair, so the increase is put forth by the stylist and is not a salon-wide increase, but there are salons where the stylist charges more because they have gone to school and are really "up on things", new trends, etc.  Another thing to consider if the price has to be is to not go as often.  After you've paid your $60.00, explain to the scheduler that you will have to wait an extra 2-3 weeks before you come back for another cut.
There are from Hawaii, going in October nm

back around October
I said (along with many others, I know) that they needed to bailout consumers. I later read this article: http://www.opednews.com/articles/The-Real-Bailout-Needed-is-by-Steven-Leser-081227-715.html

along with the follow-up where some of the responses to the first article are addressed: http://www.opednews.com/articles/The-Real-Bailout-Needed-is-by-Steven-Leser-090104-322.html

Personally, I am not for giving anyone a free ride, but least of all the lenders that are largely responsible for the housing/financial crisis we are all faced with. I pay my mortgage and other bills on time, but with the economy the way it is, I fear that I may not be able to continue doing this (my husband is one of the many whose companies are now requesting employees take one day off per week without pay, and I have been less than fully employed for too long now, mainly due to some family issues that arose a while back, but now with the job market not so hot). Anyway, with the idea proposed in the above linked articles, it would help many, many Americans who are having a hard time, as well as those who made s t u p i d/greedy mistakes, etc., and at the same time the banks/creditors would be getting their money in the form of consumers paying their debts with bailout money (opt in or out), but paying it back, at least partially. IMO, it is a much better plan than what is currently being debated, but with the prospect of much of the money being paid back (by the taxpayers who accept bailout money as well as taxes paid by banks/creditors on the money they receive, etc.), also allowing for many of the things that the government is proposing to still be done.

Another thing I have long been a proponent of is legalization/taxation of marijuana/hemp. Apparently, Americans utilizing the Citizen's Briefing Book at change.gov (http://citizensbriefingbook.change.gov/ideas/viewIdea.apexp?id=087800000004lrP#comments)overwhelmingly believe that this would have a major positive impact on our economy. Not only was it THE MOST POPULAR idea, but there were many other similar ideas posted that received a large number of votes (I think another similar idea was 3rd or 4th on the list of most popular ideas submitted), and there were many similar ideas posted that received lots of votes. I think that they should have left the briefing book open for idea submission and voting for a longer time (or even ongoing). I was not even aware of its existence until a couple of days before it ended, and did not realize how quickly they were going to end it, so when I decided to register, submit, and vote it was too late.
He should consider his wife FIRST, not his stylist.....

Thanks for all the great info. Our darling Westie
had her teeth cleaned under anesthesia a few times, and some of her teeth were getting a little loose when she was getting older. She was 12 and I will miss her as long as I live. I definitely will get some of the bones and things to help this weekend.  Again, thanks to all!
Not hard to tell here who the winners are! She is absolutely darling! I know from
experience that this breed is so lovable and can make me laugh til I cry. They are so full of themselves and rightfully so. They got it goin' on. SO DO YOU!!!!!!   Thanks for making my day with that one.
Yes. My stylist said the doctor recommended that if SM
the patches did not work for her. He told her that within three months with Chantix the smoking is gone forever. I know we have a lot of pet lovers on this board, myself one of the most enhusiastic. These poor pets are also very susceptible to second-hand smoke. It penetrates the fur into the skin and they often pay the consequences with cancer and lung/heart problems.
hope you find the right stylist...sm

I remember getting great scalp massages with super conditioning that would nearly put you to sleep, sitting under the hairdryer for a half hour...another rinse, then a decent cut, a set and back under the hairdryer then styled...Boy, do I miss those days... Cat

I went through the same thing back in October- sm
However our debt situation was a bit worse, had $90K on cards that he knew nothing about. I paid all the bills on time so no issues there, just could not pay them off obviously. I was robbing Peter to pay Paul, as he put it when I finally confessed all, I was running a ponzi scheme with our own finances. I picked a day when the kids were at school and he was off work, some obscure holiday in October, and wrote it all out in a letter, then I handed him the letter and told him to read it, and drove down to the store to avoid any fallout. He called me 5 minutes later, I went home and we hashed it all out. Luckily we were in the position to pay all his cards off by borrowing against the 401K, which everyone screams not to, but we did and have done loans against it before which we pay back in five years by automatic withdrawal that his work manages--I still have mine to deal with, had 3 in hardship plans, now 2, rest are up to date but slow to make a dent obviously, going to consolidate though, need to get off my butt and get that done. But you have to tell him, believe me I did not want to tell my DH, I was terrified, thought he'd go off the deep end, try to kill me maybe, divorce me for sure, etc. I remember telling my friends what I wanted him to do when I told him, they (and I) all thought that a good outcome was not going to happen. Miracle of miracles it did. He has been great. Our marriage has actually gotten better. He has only had a couple breakdowns of being super mad at me, and has not made my life living H*E*L*L like I thought he would . I still handle the money which is probably not a good thing but he can still look at everything anytime he wants to. Things are not perfect financially but I do my best to pay with cash for everything and use our now clear cards for small purchases which I pay off each month so we can get his credit back to a great standing. We have no need for any loans at present luckily and in five years the 401K will be paid back, and our house will be paid off by then as well, and all this will be a bad memory. -- So just pick a quiet time to tell him, write it all down if you have to so you stay calm and focused, no pointing fingers, and lay it all out, no point in holding anything back. He will be upset but your issues really are not that bad when you look at the mess many others are in (including me). Waiting a year and working on cleaning up your credit is not the end of the world, it will give you a year to save up more of a downpayment hopefully, need 20% probably, so that may take you more than a year to get together anyway. Good luck.
How much do you pay for a haircut and what's the rule about tipping your stylist?? nm

Looks like Comcast starts monitoring internet usage in October. Has anyone here ever been

contacted about excessive usage from Comcast.

Generally never, but I am tiny -- sm
AA and A - only sag a little on the A side. Much more comfortable without, but do wear one when necessary (i.e. white shirt, dress, etc.)
I did think of Tiny Tim, but I thought it
was adorable too. I got to hear Jason's performance on the radio this morning, and I loved hearing him in my car. It was a great song for him. Just loved it.

I didn't particularly like David Cook's song, but I thought he performed it well.

I agree that Kristy gave her best performance, but why don't I care to hear her? I switched over to The Biggest Loser and have yet to watch the David A. I thought Syesha was good. I can't remember what Brooke did, but I wasn't overly impressed. Didn't hate it either. I was surprised that the tattoed girl from Ireland fell apart for a second when she caught the look on Simon's face. I didn't love the song, but I still think she's great.
Have you seen this tiny little girl?
For More pics, see the link below:
There is a tiny little link to click -
click where it says wooly thyme.

It's there, it's just small. Sorry.
I can hear the tiny pop sound, but
DH cannot.
I do remember hearing just a tiny bit about
Amelia Island. What makes it an old pirate town? Would LOVE to hear all about it. I'm going to put that on my list to look at visiting. You know, as far as entertainment goes - I don't care to go someplace else hundreds of miles from my home to do something that I could do in my home state so "local" things to do/places to eat are always high on my list!

This is the unknown in me coming out but is it a "true" island - do you have to take a ferry out or do you fly??
I was referring to my own hair, people hair. nm

maybe your tiny tower fan inside blew.....

there are vents on the back of the tower - that periodically need brushing out, cleaning out - canned air works well in this/these areas....

there is a tiny fan inside every tower.....maybe it blew?  but yes - they need AIR surrounding them - the backs of towers should not be completely blocked....

HTH (hope that helps)

Agree. 1 of the masses. A tiny cog in a machine. I

Did mine Monday, tiny refund $58 - sm
and "accepted" by the IRS on Monday night, so all done. Just need to print out the state, sign and mail off with our payment to them by May 1. Will probably do that over the weekend then will be all done.
I had a similar reaction from a tiny dose of nortriptyline - sm
the doc had prescribed to try to control my chronic migraines. I took like less than half of one pill, about 1/4 the dose the doc intended me to taper up to. I took it a 10:30 pm on a Friday night. The next morning I didn't wake up 'til almost noon, and was totally, UTTERLY stoned. Coffee didn't help. No-doz didn't help. Finally felt sober enough to drive, and headed off for Lake Tahoe that afternoon (the original plan had been to go at about 9 AM), only to realize that I was still a bit on the stoned side, and didn't remember most of the 150-mile drive there! Aaaagggh! Went to bed early that night (WITHOUT the nortriptyline this time) and finally felt halfway normal by the next day.

Man - if I had to be on that stuff, I'd have lost my job for sure. Not only would I have not been able to DO my job (was an in-house MT at the time), but I most likely wouldn't have even remembered I HAD a job to go to!

The doc said I would have eventually 'gotten used to it' and not had such a drowsy reaction, but couldn't give me a time frame for that happening. I just didn't have the time to live that way, so told her it wasn't an option.

Needless to say, I threw away the rest of the contents of that bottle. Thank goodness Imitrex was on the market in tablet form about a year later. THAT worked like a charm on the migraines, and totally changed my life.
P.S. That's "Fox"...hard to see these tiny letters through tears...nm

Hair
Oh yeah! I have a long-haired cat. My living room looks like she had a fight with Santa and Santa lost his white trim and long beard. LOL
Hair
Oh I know you meant people hair.  Just wanted to share that my cat is goning through the same thing these days.  I guess because she is just so close to my heart she feels like a child not a pet.
About your hair

What do you like/dislike the most about it?

I've been letting mine grow, so it's longer and looks really nice around my face. It's very soft. That part I like.

I hate hate hate having long hair when it's hot outside. Ponytail and hair clips, here I come.

hair
Yes, you can do this yourself. Go for it. IF you want an overall lighter color go for it. Make sure you read the box about if your hair is dark it will look like this or if your hair is this dark we do not recommend. I would also even recommend going to a Sallys Beauty Supply. They can help you as well. I used to do hair for a living before MTing.
Hair

Hey go for it.  Anything that looks good, do it.  I always wear my hair short because it looks the best.  Looking back at pictures I have almost the same haircut that I had at age 21 but am not trying to recreate that age it just looks the best on my.  My great nephews, ages 20 to 8, always tell me that there is no way I am almost the same age as their grandmother (my sister 3 years older) because she is old and I am not and I think it is because I act, dress and think young.  I don't wear mini's but my legs are one of my best assets and so I wear knee length skirts and heels many times and it makes me feel good.   Even if you wanted to wear a beehive -- now I am showing my age -- do it if it makes you feel good. I envy those gals with longer hair but I am small boned and small facial features and it just overwhelms me.  But a lot of older actresses have long hair and it looks good.

keep your hair.

Dry hair
I have really dry hair both because of my middle age and putting dye on it at home.  I've tried most otc products but nothing really seems to get it soft and healthy looking.  Anyone have any tried and true products, like a deep treatment type of conditioner that really works?
Oh, well, it's just hair, you know? sm
I agree with her...you gotta pick your battles. That said, my son's hair is longish, but not to his shoulders.
Hair......
It is definitely not good to wash hair every day.
Because you strip the hair of the essential oil and then the follicles produce again oil, the hair gets oily very fast and you have to wash it again.
This becomes a vicious cycle.
The more often you wash your hair, the faster it gets oily.
Try to use 'dry shampoo' in between, until your hair gets less oily.
Get a dog with hair, not fur- sm
Find out what breeds have hair, I know poodles are one, I think there are one or two others but not sure. He would not be allergic to a dog with hair though, if so then he is allergic to people too. There are standard size poodles (large) or miniature poodles.
I have used it in my hair, but not to eat.

my sister does hair
and one of her clients bought her a jogging suit that says "i run with scissors!" she thought that was too fun! of course, depends on the personality.
Coloring your hair.

How many here have colored or still color their hair?
Highlights, lowlights, gray coverage or all out Platinum blonde.
Maybe you are going for that fire engine red.....

I bought one of those kits the other day that has the base color and the extra highlighting kit too. I am going for the medium to dark brown (which is my natural color) with "Caramel Glaze" highlights. My hair naturally has alot of underlying red tones so I have to be careful what color I choose or I end up looking like Lucille Ball. (not that red is a bad thing) I just don't want to be the next "Carrot Top" LOL.

Anybody else out there about to do a color change? opinions?

hair color sm
Had beautiful brown hair with natural red highlights, talked into blond highlighting, now go every 3 mos for cut and color but prices are being ridiculously increased to over $110 for this service, $45 for the cut and $65 for partial - more for full highlight. I am scared to do this alone, as I don't want to look like a "skunk" and the highlighting makes me feel better, as I'm getting older. Another subject - as you get older, people treat you like you're taking up space on the planet - rude. I don't intend to go gray. Is keeping the brown and putting in my onw highlights a fairy tale, is it that difficult? Can't imagine how I'll see in the mirror to do it alone!!! Can't afford it anymore. I think the stylist is planning to raise her prices and it will be over $150 for the whole head!

I found some really cool hair color at www.bettybeauty.com
Anyone ever had a hair transplant
due to loss of hair and if so, can you tell me how it came out, were you satisfied with the results, how much cost and which place did you use? I have seen some ads and am thinking seriously about this. Thanks.
