I worked in Medicare for a while doing editing and for a year, I had to keep sending requests in to change her gender to female! Her dad wanted boys soooo badly...but she had 7 sisters..."There go the 8 Panty girls!" What a hoot in the early 1900s!
Later in life, I heard of a female patient named....Golden Body. I never met her (both of these women are now deceased). I don't know if Golden married into the Body family or if it was a maiden name, but I always thought if I retired to a beach, that is what I'm changing my name to!!

You can see my grandmom on YouTube
With all the talk about grandparents, I wanted to share a video of mine. My cousin just recently posted a home movie of our grandmom on YouTube. Her cole slaw was the best, and she's making it in this video. It's not a terribly interesting video unless you knew her, but I wanted to share it. She died a few years ago at the age of 94. The video is about 20 years old. She was an amazing, tiny tower of power. When she was 10, her mother died, and as she was oldest of four children, she became the mom in the house... at the age of 10. She raised her own four children during the depression, and she wouldn't waste anything. You can see her in the video getting every shred of carrot off her grater. She was full of wisdom, but she dispensed it very practically. She was as likely to tell you flat out that you were being stoopid as she was to give you yummy cookies... both when deserved. I was her only daughter's only daughter, so I had a special place in her family, which "ran to boys". I was the only one she taught to make the cole slaw! And when I was in college, I lived with her in her tiny three room apartment and for four years slept on the sofa bed in the living room. She was my college roommate. I really miss her. Your grandmom was very fortunate to have you too! (sm)
how many grandchildren would live with their grandparent through college and still talk about them with so much love years later? That is so sweet and wonderful that you both had such a good relationship with each other!
You did your rant, laughed your ___ off and wrote off your Mom and Grandmom!
You have a lot to learn. When they are dead, you will realize it didn't really mean a thing except that you "wrote them off" and laughed your A@@ off at any suggestion that you should make peace with your Mom at Christmas. You only have one Mom, you came from her loins, no one else's. Too bad you can't realize how wrong you are to judge. No one said you have to see her every day but she's a human being and human beings make mistakes. Glad you are perfect and your kid is perfect. Hope you always remain "perfect." Merry Christmas! Sounds like you have a lot of people backing you up, so you think you're right in ditching your Mom and Grandmom. People in my family have done horrible things to me but I rise above it, send them a Christmas card and wish them a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year. I am not God. Perhaps you don't see your Mom's tears, but believe me, one day you will be sorry and it will be too late. Get a heart! You are telling your son in effect, "These are bad people, write them off!" Bad advice methinks. You are hearing only what you want to hear, so go ahead and laugh your a@@ off if it makes you happy. Watch out you are not that "Mom" one day, you've set the scene and have written the script, to "write Moms off."
Even sadder, more infuriating...on CNN,grandmom has announced she is "abandoning her daughter, sh
This grandmother needs big time help herself. Where the heck was she when she "enabled" her daugher to live with her, support her, and have the six previous children, let alone the IVF which resulted in these tiny innocent sweet babies??? NOW she wants to walk away because people are asking for her accountability in allowing this to happen in her house with her daughter?????? WHAT??? This is such a sick, dysfunctional family, I pray that everyone out there prays for these little infants, and the six little siblings at home, they are facing such a messed up, contentious, painful future because of their mother's/grandparents incomprehensible choices. Wow.
