My 16yr old son has been getting himself up

since he was 12. He has always been very independant. My 14yr old daughter is another story. We still have to get her up. I will say that I have some improvement in her taking some responsibilites over the summer. You mentioned that your kids were getting plenty of sleep and I thought the same thing with my daughter. She started getting upset over her 9:30 bedtime near the end of school last year but she still had problems getting up at 7:30 so I wouldn't budge. All summer long she has sleep at least 12 hours (if given the chance)every night. I even had her tested at the doctor's office for anemia, mono, and her thyroid. They found nothing. No sure what is going to happen when school starts in 3 weeks. Am going to have to start changing her sleeping habits soon so she will be more prepared when school starts. Don't look forward to that.

Just got a call from my 16yr old son.
This year our Bible school's mission project is collecting school supplies.  He drove by Staples and saw a big SALE sign so he went in.  They are having a 1cent sale on several school supplies.  I told him to get as much as he could and that I would pay him back.  He said "No big deal, I got paid yesterday.  You use your money to buy more."  Just really touched my heart and wanted to share.  Hopefully all are as blessed.
I have a 16yr old son and 14yr old daughter
and I have never checked their e-mail. I am sure many people would call me stup!d but I totally trust them. We live in a small town and it seems everybody knows every one else's business. I may make different choices if they gave me reason to suspect something, but we have built a trust that I don't want to be the first one to break. Don't want them to either!!!!!
