My 14-yo daughter sold her first original design

for a snowboard decal this weekend. She is quite the little artist and a friend of her brother's came up to look through her portfolio.
Not only did he buy the design he wants to use for his snowboard, he told her he would like to put her in touch with a friend of his, a tattoo artist, who may be interested in some of her other work too.
This could be her toe in the door. She would love to do design and sell her own graphic T-shirts.

I've sold 125 books on half.com but most were my childrens college text books. I have sold some
t I picked up for a quarter at a thrift store. Old Dr. Seuss books do well. I price them a bit lower than the rest of the pack and put that they are from a nonsmoking home. Half.com does take a small commission but they deposit the check in your bank account monthly.
The original Halloween, the original Exorcist and the first Phantasm...
today's are too computer generated and phony. Not enough scare factor for me!
Vote for Kim on Design Star!
Todd may have energy to spare but Kim has TASTE and a great sense of style. Link below to vote.
Not real eggs, just a design.

Is anybody here watching Design Star on HGTV?
What do you think about the latest round of eliminations? Who do you think will win?
I think it will be Todd because he is so energetic and good-looking and he also is a very creative designer.
Other opinions?
That's kind of intrusive. The subject is Design Star

Design Star - warning West Coasters: spoiler
Did anybody ever doubt it would be Kim? Woohoo!!!
We just sold ours.
I always tent camped when younger...just loved it. When I married, hubby would not tent camp and the kids loved camping so we got a pop-up tent camper. We enjoyed it once it was up, but it was a lot of work, nearly as much as tent camping because since it folds down you cannot store much in there all the time, so there's packing involved. There is also work involved when you get home with it, opening to clean and air out and dry before folding it up again. If it's not completely dry before folding down it will mildew.
If I had a chance to do it again, I'd get a pull-behind or 5th wheel, because you can keep your camping items right in there all the time. Just toss in some food and go.
Just my opinion!
I can understand it but it may be sold as that - sm
but may be more in line with an in-law suite. My DH and I rarely sleep together, he is either in the spare room on the couch. He snores something awful and of course won't go to a doctor (not apnea, he is underweight); he also cannot sleep without either the TV or a radio on ALL night; also has insomnia, so in order for me to sleep and not want to kill him we do not sleep together. We still get together but just don't spend the night together. Just about every elderly/older couple I know do not sleep together due to one of them snoring basically, they have the spare rooms in the house now that the kids are gone and they are using them to stay well rested.
Yeah but sold out everywhere (nm)

Whatever it is, it's because the US has repeatedly sold
My sister just returned from Hawaii. She's been to Hilo many times, but this time said she couldn't believe it - it was practically dead. Because of gas costs, many airlines, bus tours, etc. have eliminated that part of the big island. She said tourism in the state overall appears to be in a huge slump. And now our ****** Prez. says he wants to open oil drilling in Alaskan wilderness, and the US's coastal towns. Considering what future oil spills will do to future tourism in coastal towns, not to mention that we have to wean ourselves off that addiction, and that sure is short-sighted. But then again, that's the problem with the U.S. They don't see the big picture, just whatever will make the most money in the shortest amount of time, and screw the future.
Sold the property, finally
Well, I guess the man was wrong for wanting me to accept the $110,000. I have sold the property today for $140,000. That is a chunk more than I can now think of ways to spend- just kidding, planning on putting new flooring in, paying off most of the home where I live and paying my bills off. Hooray!!
I have sold some property, not closed on but
get this- the new "owners" have gone in (I was told they wanted to spring clean and thus the realtor gave them keys to the place to do so) and stripped the carpets that were there and also dismantled and took down part of a cabinet. The closing was to take place the first of July. I called the realtor and asked when did spring cleaning turn into renovation. One person had asked about a possible early move-in as their lease ran out today. I told realtor no moving in, nothing else done until closing. No answer from him- no emails answered, nothing. I sent him 1 yesterday saying - oh, never mind, I will check on my property myself either Thursday or Friday morning, hope I don’t find squatters there- guess what folks, now he calls late yesterday evening wanting to know can we close today. Oh, the power of persuasion. Some people really have the nerve!
Hubby and I sold our townhouse and
bought a house with a yard for our first dog. Soon we replaced the Explorer with a minivan because it was a lower jump AND so the dogs could have AC blowers in the back. So yeah, I'm with you. But I have an hourly job now, not MT work, and DH makes decent money. Still, we're in debt, like most people. At least we bought a modest house, much less expensive than what the bank thought we COULD afford, but we know better.
Update: Just sold for $299 on Ebay
if you can get your hands on one they are selling like hotcakes!!
Another thing about the house I sold,
I had moved, rented it out and like I said above, got an interest only loan on it, had borrowed some money and that loan looked really good until the payment started creeping up and up and up and I was sweating it trying to unload (after I decided not to rent anymore) that I probably would have taken less. I am really, really glad I sold when I did. I could have had new house, old house note with the old house steadily climbing and been in as bad shape as some I read about in foreclosure.
Those hook thingies are sold on
either QVC or HSN shopping channel, see them frequently.
Fluff is still sold in PA. In my area,
we have a mixture of foods since our area is diverse ethnicities. We have all kinds of PA Dutch, Lithiuainin (sp), Italian, Irish Polish, Mexican (yes thanks to a town a little north of here that is 30% Mexican now), so there is not one particular food.
My favorites are scrapple w/vinegar and eggs, funnel cake, Kluskie, halupkies, perogies, HOT BOLOGNA (yeah! good and spicy). Hot bologna is probably local to our area alone. How about ring bologna, which is used to make the hot bologna.
I sold Avon for 20+ years
I sold Avon for 20+ years & I loved it when I first started, I had a great number of customers which you do need and periodically would add a few more.. BUT, when I first started you could make some money at it, even living in a small rural area like I live in.. but things are so costly, the books, bags, samples, etc.. gas lately wouldn't be worth it, selling in businesses is great IF you can catch everyone there at the same time, but when I first started if you sold $1000 half was yours.. since then they have raised it (not sure what it is now), but the last I remember it was closer to $1500 before you earned 1/2.. so things keep changing, I quit after I started typing, no time & I would much rather be home..
I made money doing Avon for years, but if you were the only one in your area doing it you might do okay, but I do still order, because I have used their products for so many years, I just can't find nothing I really like better in the stores.. plus they do have great sales on things, I'll not go back to it as of now, but don't want to say never cause that is usually a for sure that you'll eat those words..
Animals being sold in hardware stores. SM
While driving through Miami, FL, I noticed several hardware stores with large signs stating they sold both hardware and animals. My DH knows who handles the accounts of those stores (he sells hardware wholesale) and they said, yes, the stores carry animals for santeria rituals such as chickens, roosters and rabbits.
I'm all for freedom of religion, but draw the line at using live creatures. I'm not a big animals right advocate, although I love animals, but I feel like notifying PETA about this. Or somebody about this.
Any suggestions?
I have bought and sold on Craigslist, it's great.
It is sold, like I stated, to recoup not only my money
but also to pay what the court costs are. I had cash that day and only put $40.00 on my credit card. Doesn’t matter because I have my receipt and have the backing of the court. I tell you, I am not the only person this store has tried to skim-scam because another person in court with same 1. They have 4 big stores and guess what? I am not heading out to "do my shopping" and that is I am going with my sunglasses to choose which pieces I want to take this Tuesday (if no money forthcoming). It has been over a year so I do not think they would remember my 1 time in their store. This place now owes me over $700.00!! After this I plan on calling better business bureau and logging complaint against them also.
Just recently sold a ticket on Stubhub
I am seasoned ticket holder for the Fox Theater in Atlanta's Theater Under the Stars and one of the shows was Stomp. I sure did not want to see that so I sold a 2nd row seat from the stage that sold for $46.00 for $25.00. Not trying to make a profit, just did not want to use it.

It is sold in pill form for weight loss,
so I would take it that way.
bought/sold couple hundred items
i've had a good experience both ways. it is time consuming, communicating with customer/feedback/packaging items/mailing, etc. Like you, i thought of doing same. but you really have to have something special/in demand to market, or maybe do the drop-ship method where you don't even keep the inventory yourself to make a real business venture. I don't think it's any more of a golden goose than other business ventures however.
Southern here, cracklins sold in lower income stores usually
I have been at roadside stands and never smelled them cooking nor saw them but mostly you see in stores like food depot. I know of no one who uses them. I am sure that various parts of the country have other foods that could turn a person's stomach. I remember a supposed pepperoni pizza I had 1 time in Buffalo and the tomatoes on it were whole like uncooked. Yuck for that. Everyone has a yuck I am sure.
Daughter's phone is daughter's responsibility. Valuable lesson learned.
It should be between the daughter and the friend if the friend is going to pay any of the fees. They are teenagers, not preschoolers.
In our town, the Chinese restaurant has a painted sign on window: Hot Wing sold here. nm

can you be a little more original?

Is it any better than the original?
The original was wonderful!

I was worried. H was afraid that someone was going to try to dx (diagnosis) my 23 MO with ADHD. I said well, they can try but I do think she is a little young for that kind of dx. I am glad to know that others have gone through this and it stopped.
As far as the police comment, I know that was not the best thing in the world. I was just tired of the whining and the clinging. I tried everything else. Wow, your teacher seems really cool. Man, you are going to have lots of friends in here. She knew over half the kids in her class. She just would not have anything to do with any of it and just kept clinging. She told me she thought pre-K was better than K and she was not going to K. Then came the police comment. It is true, or so I have been told that you can get your kids taken away if you don’t enroll them in some kind of education program.
I have been sneaking things in like, H and I have been looking for a new house. No seriously but we need something bigger. We passed by one that was way out of our budget but dd said “I want that house.” I say, “well if you go to school, work hard and do well you will be able to buy any house you want.” I am trying to think of ways to stress the importance of a good education.
I don’t think she is afraid of any cops. She is too fascinated by them. When she sees the Chief of Police she runs up and hugs him.
That is not what you indicated in your original post and is why you

sorry. I did not see your original post..sm
I never said it was impossible to find an honorable man and good relationship, and I do not believe any body else did either, that I recall. As I said, I wish her all the best, and if this person is the right one for her, that is wonderful! But it also seemed that a lot of others were pushing her to rush into a relationship simply to *feel the spark of a new love*. Although that *spark* is a wonderful thing sometimes, it can also blind one to some smaller signs of impending doom, and the six years down the road, they are back on the message board asking what happened and wondering why they did not see it coming. I know that bad things do not always happen, but you have to admit that in today's society, more bad has been happening recently than good. Just expressing caution, and nothing more. JMO. Oh, by the way, I am happy for your relationship too. You are very lucky and one of few, these days.
No, did not mean original poster...
I was referring to the poster who stated she was certain she would be in Heaven. I don't know how she could tell someone that because try as I may, I don't know that I will pass the test. I understand saying things like that are to comfort the grieving person, but I also think we may be held accountable for giving false hope like that, but then again there are a lot of things we just won't know until it is time to know them. To the original poster, I do feel so badly for you and hope that you find the comfort you need in this trying time. I'm sure you are questioning God and that is fine too, just remember he has a plan for everything.

if the original had actually worked,
would not have had a problem with the scars. They are on the inner part of the arm, of course, as you probably know and unless I turn my arms upwards, sideways, would never know. I do not wear short sleeved blouses but it is not for that reason, for the fact my upper arms never changed any at all. Like Oprah, I have the bat wings.
Loved the original. sm
I haven't seen this one yet, but I will. A couple of columnists have said that it is not as good as the original. One said J. Travolta was fabulous but the rest were just okay and not as good as the musical. Someone else said it didn't seem to live up to it's hype. I guess to each his own.
Can't be as good as original. That had SM
better music, adorable Ricki Lake and Divine and no one, not John Travolta or anyone else, can replace Divine! Um, even though this was his/her sweetest role.
Like I said in the original post, to say anything
would not be believed by anyone in DIL's family, my son, the g-children, aunts, her mother so I should say? To say to my son, your wife stole $20.00 from me" would be met with denials, to say she helped to put a ding on my credit for 7 years would be what her mother told me - she wouldn't do something like that. You can say what you said about speaking out but you do not know how these people are. It is like a cult- when you would get together 1 child that belonged to 1 family belonged to all. An aunt might chastise or discipline her niece/nephew like she would her own. Most of us with children just see after our children, not all other children that might be in our family-we leave that to their parents. These are my only 2 g-children, doubt if I will have others but I kept quiet and do now because my word would never be believed, then nor now. I remember 1 time a cousin of DILs had gotten broken leg. I took the DIL to the hospital. Every member of the family was there- the great-gparents, the g-parents, aunts, uncles, parents, the immediate cousins and the 2nd cousins -the hospital had so many people they had to ask them to leave! Another time the great-gparent died- the children all wanted to spend the night at the funeral home. The home started running vacuum, switching light off and on and they did not get the idea to leave! They HAD to be asked to please leave for the night! They wanted to stay the night with the deceased....You just do not know the close-knit (cult) family these folks have.
That was my original logic too (sm)
I figured since no one had touched it or breathed on it since it had been cooked and the lid had stayed on it in the oven all night that there really weren't all that many bacteria in there to grow and that if I reheated it really well it should be safe..but judging by the overwhelming advice contrary to this no way am I eating it or serving it LOL!
No one here knows me, I posted below under original
post and said all I want to say.
according to the original post
They took in their son's best friend, not a stranger. I agree with the other posters, your house your rules. I think you are doing the right thing by doing whatever you can to keep them apart. If they really want to be together they will be together outside of your home.
You can get the original applications...
from the CC company. My DH did that when he got divorced and found out the ex opened up a couple of cards w/o his knowledge, forged his name. She got the debt in the divorce to the tune of 15,000 and the CC companies apologized profusely to my DH. He could have pressed charges against her but did not.
Original Chex Mix
Just made a batch this afternoon for my son. I hope he eats it up quickly because I can hardly leave it alone.
I never tried the Chex Mix Turtle, but that sounds even better. I better stay away from that one!
I am the original poster -
I am working on the training - I took the puppy pads up because I have decided they are encouraging her to use the floor.
Also, she never has the run of the house or even a room if we are not home. She is being crate trained. I think that works best. We have only had her for 2 weeks, but she already considers that a safe place. When she is ready to lay down for a nap, she goes there and lays down. She will fight me a little still if I am putting her up and she does not "choose" it herself, but she no longer lays there and just whines. I am sure to get her out a lot during the day and evenings and play with her and socialize her, but that is her domain for life!
I sent you the original e-mail that I sm
got back. Your e-mail address is coming back without the "e" on the end of chelle. Looks like somehow it is getting forwarded wrong through MT stars. Anyway I corrected in my address book. You might want to contact MT stars about it. Check your aol e-mail for my letter.
All I did was replace the original post.
/
I did. My original comment was about how my son enjoys
candles. Your very next post in response to mine included the makeup, nail polish and other. I really just didn't understand how liking candles had anything to do with the use of obviously feminine products.
