get out of the house and go for a walk
or a bike ride or a picnic. Sometimes I go outside and talk on the phone or watch my kids play. The point is to get out of the house and be outside.

I love BBC America!
I also love Hell's Kitchen, Dr. G, Big Medicine, Little People Big World, Deadliest Catch, South Park, etc. I love Birth Day or any other birthing shows that aren't super happy-go-lucky shows.
I need to turn the TV off!
I walk a trail by my house with my dog a few times

My sister-in-law and I walk together several times a week. We don't walk on a flat surface
we walk around a park that is constantly up and down so we get a better work-out and it is much more enjoyable to have someone to walk with. I have also joined Curves and really enjoy that.
most requested item from my pantry
Don't forget the sweet things tend to be the favorites when everyone is freaking out. We skipped the valentines day thing this year and made a massive pink cake that everyone made together and ate instead of spending tons of money on cards and candy.
Yep. Just walk away. Nod a lot, and walk away even if they are in midsentence.
I even do this with my family if they start up. And when I start up myself (in my own mind) I distract myself and get onto doing something completely different. Some people thrive on negativity. I have enough problems getting my mind positive. Life is way too short to dwell on negativity. Just walk away and go smell a rose somewhere. Just my advice. :)
She is no monster! sm
I firmly believe that animals have emotional lives of their own. They like what they like and they want it when they want it, much like humans. They don't speak English and have our vocabularies, though I'll bet Morry talks up a storm when she wants to, she doesn't have the intricate workings to tell you what she is thinking or feeling. I have a dog and she can't tell me what she is thinking! She communicates with what she does, which is awfully smart for one, and she knows you understand for two. She knows how to get a rise out of you or how to get your attention. I'll bet she has treats and knows how to get one when she wants it. This isn't spoiling and you have not created a monster!
Like most creatures, she will be happier when her needs are fulfilled. She knows, as an infant knows, how to have an impact on her world to get what she wants, even if she can't articulate them with words. When an infant's attempts to communicate their needs is constantly rebuffed, they will learn to stop asking (think being cute or crying). It is the same with a pet. If she knows how to get to you the way she does it is because she has learned it through experience and generally gets the reaction she is seeking. See what a great job you are doing?
Amazons live a long time and are talked about in bird circles as legacy birds, or probate birds because they so often out live their human caretakers and have nowhere to go. She is an extraordinary bird by Amazon standards (which are high). Please be sure you have made appropriately extraordinary plans for her. I don't mean to be morbid, but so many people don't think about this. I belong to a bird club and we have been encouraged to "get the word out" because we have a re-homing program. In a single month recently we had 6 macaws, 3 Amazons and various conyers given up to the program, most of them due to the death of their families. We take them in and they are rehomed to people who know and love birds, but we also know that others are not so fortunate. We LOVE birds and treasure them. They are incredibly special to us and we care. Our recent push is to encourage owners to think about the very long term.
I have a Monster steam mop..sm
I have ceramic tile, and I love this mop. I have tried just about everything and my floor was never really clean. I tried this and after I finished I took a wet paper towel and rubbed it on my floor and it was really and truly clean! I also have a Hoover spin scrub and I really like it too, but the Monster is easier to use and works just as good if not better.

Green eyed monster
I posted a while back about a woman who was divorced sat down at a football game with dh. I was at home working. Anyway, dh told me about it and he said he did not ask her she just sat there and they enjoyed the game together. I said okay. Anyway, 6 months later dh asked her if she was willing to lease out that 10 acres of land that she has so he can plant hay. She said he could. He did ask me if I was okay with it. I said I was. Well dh went to pay her first months rent and boy did she ever give him the old sob story about how her ex was. She also tells him that several men, married men, have been out there coming to call. She turned them all down because all she wants to do is raise her kids and ride horses.
The only man I ever really chased was dh and I was pretty cut and dry with that. Most the time I admired men at a distance. I have ran around with some pretty wild girls and they would give their potentials a sob story about how awful life is just to play on sympathy then they would brag about how every man in the world “wanted” them. Is this what this girl is doing? Trying to play on DH sympathy and then telling him she is a catch of the town.
I do know my dh. He is more likely to run off with a tractor then he is with another woman. I can almost 100% guarantee it. There is always a slight possibility I could be wrong but who knows.
Another thing that worries me, is if this gal really is flirting and dh doesn’t want to “join her circus of men coming to call” is she going to run him off the property after he put all that work and money into it.
I don’t know why I worry so much. She probably is just one that likes to talk, it could be innocent.
Green-eyed monster
My husband was an attorney who would come home at night and tell me about how his secretary would flirt and carryon with him. He had little derogatory names for her. She had sad stories for him as well, about raising three young daughters on her own, etc. When I was in the hospital for emergency major surgery she even offered to take care of our home and make him dinner, etc. I wasn't jealous at all, but I did warn my husband to be careful of her and the situation. Long story short ... they had an affair, our marriage was over, and I lost everything. (He's since married and divorced from the secretary.)
Just because your husband shares with you about his time spent with this woman does not mean he is or is not having/or will have a relationship with her. The man I am with now would never dream of spending any amount of time for any reason with a single woman without me along with him ... not because I have asked, but because he believes this is the right way to show respect and love for me.
Jealousy isn't that great, but being smart is. Some men with really good hearts can be kind of naive. Just something to think about. Your DH sounds like a good person.
What's your opinion on the Monster handle?
I've been researching steam mops, and this one has lots of good reviews. The only negative that I'm finding is that some people find the handle to be flimsy, and a few have noted that they've snapped the handle when they've pushed too hard. I'm on the verge of buying one of these, but I'd like to know about the handle. Thanks!

Top Chef
Anybody see Top Chef last night? What did you think?
Pampered Chef
I know there were more replies, but apparently those didn't follow my post when it got moved to the Gab board. Thank you all for your replies!
I have a Majic Chef
They certainly are a lot cheaper now than they used to be. Paid 60 for mine originally and bought one for my sister last year for $10 at a yard sale, unopened! I find I like homemade mixes better than the premix ones, although they require no measuring. You can find some awesome prices on ebay "right now". There is an Oster going in about an hour that is only at $9.95. (Item number: 250110648128. If you buy one used just make sure it has all the parts, even the little blade that mixes inside. If on ebay, they should state it is missing. I would consider buying one from ebay or a thrift store because these machines are rarely used. You really have to be into bread especially fresh bread. Most people buy them, never use them and then sell. Mine is in the closet right now but only because of limited space! I would also invest in a bread machine recipe book. Oh how fattening. So many recipies. Most machines also allow you to schedule the cook time like a coffee pot, "you just set it and forget it" (I hate that phrase). It is sure nice to wake up to the smell of fresh bread too! Rosemary, Pumpernickle and Rye..Oh my!
Thanks for reminding me about my machine!
My chef husband says
tgry either lemon juice or salt.
From above:In the end chef gets things set right again.

I have been invited to these shows and I guess they are fun a couple of times, but then you have to change the people you invite, because I just felt guilted into buying stuff from my neighbor, and she would give me some "gotta pay the bill story or husband got laid off thing," so I had to decline further invitations. I still like the stuff I bought because the quality was good, but it was a little overpriced, plus the peer pressure factor felt weird.
I know! I was surprised it was Jeffrey too....and what about Top Chef?!!? ; )
Hooked on that too!
Have Bose, he is a chef by trade and
the first year we were married got all kinds of different beers for him, he loved that. Could do that but seems redundant.
Chef Mickey's is the best! Call now for reservations
I think it cost about 90 for my husband, three kids and me, but very worth it. They take a picture of you with one of the characters while waiting in line and then you pay for it after dinner. The characters stop by your table one at a time to say hi to the kids, very cute! You just take a tram through all the hotels until you get to the Contemporary. Have fun!
Pantry full and freezer full...but will NEVER eat Spam!
//
Since it is the off season, Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort is a MUST! For us, we sm
did the brunch thing (11:00), and the food was absolutely AMAZING. If price isn't a big deal (for us, we splurged), then you must visit this place. You can have different reservation times depending on your schedule. We chose brunch, but you can do lunch, dinner. I can only recommend brunch because that is what we ate. Delicious, gourmet and non-gourmet food. They had the neatest candy bar where the kids could eat all the candy they could get their hands on. All of the characters come around the table and you take tons of pics.
But you must have a reservation for this place. You just call them. Find the number on line.
Also, I recommend Dixie Stampede.
So many I can hardly count....
Also thought about being a home chef. Poll your area first. See

Need help with ideas for remodeling house and decorating. We bought a house
in fair condition about 10 years ago, got into some medical problems, and have just now paid off the mortgage. Hubby and I agreed we would do nothing to the house for remodeling because we wanted to pay it off first, then the medical bills. I need to know of some websites/magazines/books to start researching for how to go about this. These will be major repairs - roof, septic, basement, windows, pretty much everything except wiring. Where do we start? Maybe hire a general contractor just to do an evaluation and give us recommendations? Hubby is a handyman but cant seem to get a handle on where to begin. We would like to do as much of the work ourselves as possible - labor of love and all that...
Thanks for any and all kind suggestions!
Pantry full, 2 freezers full.
Only need to get paper products and fish. I have lots of tuna, Spam, canned chicken, sardines, corned beef hash, etc.
Got our veggie seeds last week.
Stocking up on more canned veggies and fresh veggies, mostly potatoes, as soon as I can. Potaoes last quite a while in our cold room, which is an extra bedroom with no heat. Also want to get extra bread. Love homemake bread, but DH doesn't like it for sandwiches, so I have to get store-bought bread for that. I can still buy bread at my local produce store at 2 for $1.75 and it freezes very well. In spring, it used to cost 2 for $1.25, but that's still cheaper than other places.
I'm not doing this because of what's coming. I'm doing it because I've done it for years, but usually in the fall. This fall I could only buy a few things at a time because DH not working, so I figure another month, I'll be back to normal.
Chef salad is big here in my area of NY. Or cold udon noodles & peanut sauce, a la

Hel*s Kitchen
Chef Ramsey is a hoot!! I have to agree with you..I doubt I would ever eat anything they made either.
The other night they made them put all the wasted food into plastic containers so they could see what they did. It was sooo gross. LOL.
What I have always wondered...Are the people that you see eating there paid to do that? and do they hear all the commotion in the kitchen?? Especially Ramsey's language.
No matter what...I think the show is great entertainment.
kitchen
I am in the corner of my kitchen - it works out okay as long as everybody is out of the house.
we are redoing our kitchen
We are doing this the cheap way and painting the cabinets. They are in good shape just need perked up.
I HAVE TO TELL YOU...I beleve ol' Nick has seen better days! OH MY GOSH. THAT PIC IS A HOOT!!!!!
kitchen cabinets
Has anyone ever re-did old veneer kitchen cabinets? If so, what did you use to "spruce" them up? My cabinets themselves are in decent shape, but some of the veneer is starting to peel off. My husband and I are putting our house up for sale and I want something inexpensive that looks good. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone watching He*l's kitchen
Anyone watching the new season of Hel*'s kitchen with Chef Gordon Ramsey. I missed last week but caught it last night. DH and I love that show. Ramsey tells em like it is. I hope some of them get better because I would not ever eat anything any one of those contestants ever made. They are supposed to have some experience but they waste so much food. Just wondered if I'm the only sicko out here who laughs when those people get yelled at.
Kitchen Nightmares
That show made me almost not want to go out and eat anymore. Some of those places, yuck. That was another one of my favorite shows. I wonder if that'll come back.
Hardwood in the kitchen......
Friends of our had hardwood in their kitchen. While out of town, there was a leakage from their fridge and it ruined the floor. Even if they had been there, the water got in the grooves of the wood and the only way to make it look right would be to replace all the wood. They now have ceramic tile which holds up to everything.
What type of kitchen mop do you use?
I am really frustrated with my kitchen mop right now. I have a cermanic tile floor that has to be mopped at least once or twice a week (when I feel like it). I can't find a mop that I like and gets the floor clean. Just curious what type of floor you have and what kind of mop do you use?
We have ceramic in the kitchen
and I use a Swiffer. I also use it on my wood floors in the family room and the dining room.
Love Hell's Kitchen
used to watch 90210, I'm finally sick of watching re-runs. My new guilty pleasure is One Tree Hill on Soap Net. Love Survivor.
Eeek. Now there is a katydid in the kitchen.
The critters just never stop. This one must have suicidal ideation. Wait till the cat gets a hold of him.
refacing kitchen cabinets
I am buying a home with a kitchen that needs re-doing but can't afford to have all new cabinets installed. Has anyone had their cabinets re-faced and if so, how did it come out? Is the cost really a lot less than buying new cabinets? My kitchen isn't really all that big either.
I got one to the local kitchen shop.
My mom knew I needed new pots and pans, but as I am so picky, she just got me a gift card so I could go pick my own.
Carry the hardwood into the kitchen!
It is just as easy to care for as linoleum and it will look wonderful carried through continuously. It will make your house look more spacious.
3 in the kitchen near the back door, and
I've seen videos where some people cut a side-entry hole in a big storage bin like you get at Walmart, and fill it with litter. (Can be covered, or not, though many cats don't like covered boxes because it intensifies the odor for them.) The high walls, with the only low spot being the entry, keep most of the litter in if they're real diggers & flingers!
sounds delicious -- my little boy is in the kitchen
i set him up with the mixer in the sink so he doesn't make too huge of a mess. he loves baking cakes cuz it's like a science project (he's 8)... loves baking...
We have a dimmer switch in our kitchen -
and on the box it said not to use them in a light with a dimmer - When we put them in anyway, they buzzed the whole time they were on. So we only use them in regular lights.
California Pizza Kitchen
makes a very good frozen pizza; for a while I was hooked on the 5-cheese and tomato. You can just see the calories dripping off of it.
Definitely modern, kitchen has dark blue
walls and cabinets, all built in white. Have dark brown slate on floor, so those are the colors and just drawing a blank about the counters.
Lysol Kitchen Bacterial Spray
and then wipe. Works great. I love the stuff!
The girl in the kitchen telling her dad how awful it all is...
and then her mom gives her money in the other room. That one always cracks me up.
