Get this, older aunt of mine, DIL called and said if anything happens
to her- can you give me a call, in other words when she dies. This aunt is also great aunt to my son- I asked the DIL why don't you go to see her now (she is in middle 80s)- always an excuse, no car, no this, no that. She lives driving distance, about 170 miles from here. Just pitiful is all I can say- I visit her every 3-4 months and call her weekly.
Mine are older now, but I can sooo relate (sm)
You're not overreacting, but when you are married into that type of family you have to pick and choose your battles. I would say your daughter is probably safe, your mil is probably being slow and careful (I hope?) but I would ask her to use some of the ear-protective type "earmuff" looking things that block out sound. It is a thin line to tread because they see nothing wrong with this type of lifestyle when it is the opposite of what you would do. Unfortunately you may have a long battle ahead of you because I have. My children are now 8 and 11 and I have been labelled the "overprotective mother" the whole time. Too bad. I do pick and choose my battles with them but if something is unsafe it is unsafe and they will just have to not like you. What are they gonna do, kick you out of the family? lol - I think not. And they have to be nice to you so they get more baby time - use your leverage, but be fair and try to give a little too. Ask yourself it is is truly dangerous before you react - if it is, then don't allow it.
I'm older than dirt, too, and older

than the 2 posters below me.

I remember when gas was $.25 a gallon when I got my driver's license and first car.

The first car my dad had was a LaSalle with running boards. After that, he bought all Hudsons and then Ramblers. He never owned a Chevy.

My first car was a ི Chevy, green and White, that my dad paid $12 for (cost of the tag). My uncle gave it to him and was a stick shift. I never drove an automatic until I was 20 and bought my own car with my own money. I paid $1500 for a ྀ Rambler Classic, 4 door (my first 4 door, too) in turquoise blue. My dad was mad because I didn't pick the Navy blue and white stick shift Rambler because it was cheaper.

My allowance was $1.50 a week and to make money, I chauffered all my friends around plus to school and back for $.25 a week.

And, I just turned another year older on Monday. Ugh! Thank heavens, no one in my family wished me HB. I quit counting 20 years ago.

Caught in the act sm
Sounds like a really selfish person to me. Don't let it get to you, I can't imagine living with someone who would do this with a busy household at that time of day and in what I think was personally degrading  to you. Where are his family values anyway and his pride, never mind yours! Don't accept being talked down to or treated as "less than." Perhaps you had no place else to go, so you vented to us, at least you got some support. Sounds sick to me.Yours sounds like a normal reaction to a very distasteful situation.
I had a cat who once caught a bird...

in mid air.  I saw it with my own eyes or never would have believed it.

If they get caught, off goes their water!

Have my shutters open this morning and I see my next door neighbor starting to water her lawn. We are in a drought really bad here and the water is being rationed, so to speak. No one waters on Sunday (and Sunday as I write) and we have an odd, even day system when we do water through the week. Atlanta, which is close by, has gone to a 1 day a week watering system. Some places in my state have turned off water to people caught abusing this. I remember in the 80s we had such a drought our showers were limited to 5 minutes. I would hope it does not get that bad again.

i got caught in the middle
of a redneck area.  needless to say, I fled the area and the boyfriend.  too much for me.  I'm a yankee, and so is he, but he was use to the so called rednecks.  I do love the more cosmo parts of south. Can't help it!!
Right?! I once caught a fish so big...(sm)

that I wanted to run back to the house to get the camera or at the very least an eye witness, but was all by myself.  This fish I caught, it was a carp, which is a basically a goldfish on steroids.  This thing was as big as a 5-gallon water bottle--no word of a lie.  It actually broke my fishing rod.

So there I was, down below the highway with my huge catch, and I had no way to contain the thing and didn't want to kill it by taking it for a walk with me.  So, I did what any insane person would do.  I unhooked my bra, took off the bra, strung the straps through the mouth, out the gills, and attached this "tethered" but quite safe carp to a sapling that dipped into the river.

Mind you, this all took place in the CITY (I so totally don't belong in city) and I had to scramble up an embankment and cross a 2-lane highway, while holding down my flapping boobies, to get back to the condo to get my eyewitness.

My husband was home and he got to witness the whole spectacle.  No camera though...all I have are my memories, which I am told are degrading, as my fish gets bigger and bigger every time I tell the story.

Long live us rednecks!

I only caught a bit of the interview, but - sm

she looked almost like she was on drugs... She was very stone faced and did not seem to show any emotion.  I do not know, just take the baby and leave seems to e a better idea than shooting him... Just my opinion

Ah, caught the peek up there. nm

Caught husband looking at wfm ads (sm)
After he had used the computer in the history there was a list of women seeking men ads that he had been going through.  I waited a day and then asked him this morning if he was looking for someone else....he said "Ummmmm, not necessarily."  I said, "No?" Then he said, "there are none available."  I said, "I would hate to think that you would do anything risky." and he said, "I haven't found anyone risky."  So I said, "then you are looking?" and he said no, and then started to deny that he was looking, etc.  We have been having some marital problems and I am not completely surprised, but was asking him to be honest with me.  Anyway...how would you react?
I caught about the last 15 or 20 minutes. Can't hardly
wait until next week.  Maybe House and Cuddy will finally get together.
I can understand how you can get caught up in the excitement (sm)
... those exciting feelings of a new love.  I'm sure you have had those same exciting feelings about your husband at some point.  Life happens and those feelings tend to dull.  You need to put your time and energy into reigniting those feelings with your husband.  I really like the teachings and concepts of Willard F. Harley, Ph.D.  You can check out his web site at www.marriagebuilders.com.  There is a lot of information there that can help you.  He has written a great book (among others) "His Needs, Her Needs: Building an Affair-Proof Marriage."

Caught my index finger in the
front door storm door this afternoon. One shriek wasn't enough, so DH had to hear a second one. I iced it and elevated it and still it throbbed. Feels fine after a hydrocodone though, and I can type! I'm glad I'm off today though so I can rest it. Whew, that was close.

Oh, and when I shrieked, DH was sitting at the computer desk. He tried to get up so fast he banged his ankle, so now he's limping.

We're such clutzes.
Glad you caught that quickly and put it out
And that nobody was hurt.

Thanks for the reminder!

They caught the guy from the sex tape!! He admitted who he was!!!

The guy who raped the little 3 year old girl was caught - he got pulled over for something else, confessed who he was and said he was tired of running!!

I caught the blues when trying to eat the red meat
because husband is a health food junkie and I think sometimes he expects the same of me. I love steak but hardly eat-are shrimp bad for someone who has high cholesterol? He eats fish- I don’t care for- fish is fish is fish to me- all taste alike except for the shrimp with the sauce and horse radish in it- yummy! My physician when I mentioned about my cholesterol told me to tell hubs to leave alone- mine was excellent and I could eat most anything. So there, man of the house!!
I see your answer in post below me; so he did not tell you, and he would not have; he got caught

Does your city have a fine if you get caught?

Does your city have a fine if you get caught? I don't know about mine. I don't think there's one, but I could be wrong.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The New York state Legislature has given final passage to a bill that would charge $250 for pet owners who don't pick up after their dogs in some parts of the state.

Dog owners currently have to pay $100 if they don't pick up the poop. The change would apply to the five boroughs of New York City, Albany and Yonkers.

The Assembly passed the bill Wednesday and the Senate had already passed it.

A spokesman for Gov. David Paterson said the governor will review the measure.

Caught between pride and terror

I became a mother in 1970 and have been actively mothering non-stop ever since.  Now my baby daughter (who is actually 17 and a senior) has received acceptance from two of the four colleges she applied at, with the other still undecided, and it finally became real - - - She's actually going to leave!   She is not only my youngest but my only daughter and she and I have been inseparable all her life.  I can't begin to imagine not knowing every facet of her life, down to where in her messy room I can find a particular item of clothing!  My oldest son is 38 and long since married and I only see him every few months.  I guess I'd see him more if he had kids but unfortunately it's not in the cards for him and his wife.

I think I'm kind of going into mourning, thinking of not having her here.  I'm so proud of her, and thrilled that she knows what she wants to do - study anthropology and travel the world and make a name for herself.  If anyone can do it, she can!  And I'll continue to live vicariously through her somewhat, but I know it won't be the same.  The idea of having to do the "well, how have you been - - - good, good, how are you - - - what have you been up to - -" stuff that I do with my son terrifies me.  Is is possible to maintain a really close relationship with a grown child even over time and distance?  I mean really close?  We're taking a trip to Canada for her graduation gift, just her and me, and I'm afraid I'm going to be crying the whole time!

Thanks for listening.

You are caught, you assumed and completely wrong!!
I love it, have been a stay at home mother, working mother, everything rolled into 1- I never saw that much trouble with it and I do not really remember hitting the playgrounds to be interviewed for how hard of a life I had. What a joke.
Caught my housekeeper red-handed stealing from me
My household is small, just hubs and myself (with 2 pets). Hubs went out of town to visit his brothers, left early Saturday. I got my housekeeper of say the past 15 years or more to come clean up for me yesterday. Knowing that I was having a doctor's appointment today I had laid out fresh underwear to put on (this is unusual because most times I am without my undergarments but thought I better wear panties today). I put them in my first dresser drawer Saturday night, went and picked her up Sunday, started to lay out all my clothing Sunday evening and my undergarments gone. I am literally ticked beyond belief. I am about to lose a housekeeper- my husband told me for sometime that things were going missing such as things he bought, toilet paper, some forks and spoons, things like that which I normally do not see. If I let her go, I have to do the work myself (she does washing besides housework) but yet I cannot let this pass. Any ideas? I do not think I would be able to get anyone for what I pay her but cannot stand the fact of being stolen from - especially since if she needs something she could ask and I usually get for her. Ideas??
I was a total cougar til my prey caught ME, lol!
My boyfriend is YEARS younger than I am. Started as a one nighter that turned into a 4-day sleepover...I thought he was totally hot but also totally dumb as a pet rock.

Fast forward 2 years...He's sitting on my couch watching the news, and we've been living together 1-1/2 years. He's still totally hot, but not at all dumb as I had initially suspected and, in fact, handles our finances, etc.

Yeah...being a cougar totally rocked, but it turned out even sweeter than I expected when my prey caught ME!!!

Remember Me? Caught Between Pride and Panic?

Well, my daughter has been accepted at her #1 college choice, and we're going to the Accepted Students day this weekend.

In her Creative Writing class in school, they were assigned the task of summing up their Senior year in six words and then to illustrate it. What she came up with blew her father and me away!  I hope those of you who have had children leave home will get an inkling of the emotional impact this had on us. Suffice it to say, there was not a dry eye in the house!  See below.

Caught him when her husband called my house to ask for her -
My husband introduced me to J. We became good friends. When I was working and could no go places, she and her son would go with my husband and my children. We stayed at each other's houses all the time, went places together (me and her/us and her). I noticed her husband never would do anything with us or hang out, but she said he was just antisocial. Eventually she and her husband moved away because of a transfer and me and my husband separated. Then one day her husband called and asked me to speak to J. Long story short, my husband and her had been seeing each other even before he introduced us to be friends and her husband thought that I was just a front and not really married to my husband but was just a third wheel willing to cover so that they could be together whenever they wanted to hang out...
That Iranian president is a real laugh riot. Caught

If you are 30 or older.

If you are 30 or older you will think this is hilarious!!!!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning ... uphill BOTH ways.. yadda, yadda, yadda.

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in he*ll I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!

But now that I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a dam n Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the dam n library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!

There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the dam n record store and shoplift it yourself!

Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up!

And talk of about hardship? You couldn't just download porn! You had to steal it from your brother or bribe some homeless dude to buy you a copy of "Hustler" at the 7-11! Those were your options!

We didn't have fancy c rap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it!

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Play Station video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like "Space Invaders" and "asteroids" and the graphics sucked a$$! Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just SC rewed!

Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no onscreen menu and no remote control! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on!
You were sc rewed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your a$$ and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! W e had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-s!

And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up. We had to use the stove or go build a frigging fire ... Imagine that! If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupi*d JiffyPop thing and shake it over the stove forever like an idio*t.

That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled.

You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!

Regards,
The over 30 Crowd

I am older than most and what I would do
is I probably would not like the idea 1 bit about his growing hay, I believe you said, on her property. Surely there would be another place besides her's that he could do this. In my last marriage, 2 women (1 was my boss at that time) had affairs with my husband. Both women were welcomed into my home, big mistake and 1 a neighbor, 1 an ex-boss. This just does not smell like a good situation to me at all because first of all you have concerns up front. You should basically listen to your inner self. If it seems wrong, usually is. I would not befriend. Remember doing that for my new boss in town, visited in her home, shared my hubby's knowledge of things to fix around the home with her and pretty soon even the husband.
Older than you and what I think
I have been married now for close to 10 years and still honeymooning so I just do not get 2 years and already looking but having said that, he probably will continue to do this. I would not mind so much his looking but probably might take it further with maybe meeting up with someone? Your spending a night away would do nothing for the relationship- this would just give him more time to spend on the computer and he would. There are a lot of men who like porn but if it is something that would bother you, cut your losses while you can because he probably would not change- after 2 years of marriage and already looking?
Probably older. LOL s/m
We have "Grapes of Wrath" in our movie library.  When I'm feeling down about the economy, I get it out and watch it.  I pray to God we don't see anything like that again but I fear we are  headed in that direction.
LOL! i know i'm getting older! sm
usually i'm right on time. i know exactly when i'm going to start. i know exactly when i'm ovulating. sometimes i think i'll be glad to go through the change and not deal with this any more. but i know going through the change isn't fun either.

i did start, finally. figures, once i buy the test, i start! haha!
merry christmas everyone
I am and I'm a little older than you.
I am just finishing my first semester back to college after 20 years!  OMG, what a shock.  But I'm glad I did it and I really like being back in school.  Go for it!
or it could be that he was older than God...nm
x
Older than dirt...
No, I just turned 64 in March. My ex said his Lasik did not last and my eyesight was in the 20/400 range, really bad so really glad when I got the Lasik as glasses and contacts just was not doing the job anymore. I know according to the patient cataracts grow at different growths so maybe that is the problem now, at least if that were the case insurance would pay for it and Lasik not.
my older kittie--sm
is a big sissy, named Spike. When the doorbell rings, he climbs under the covers on my bed and stays there long after whoever rang the bell leaves. He is such a scaredy cat!!!
Bet you're not much older than me

I remember all those commercials. Ipana toothpaste. And which toothpaste had Gardol that would bounce baseballs off its force field? LOL And the whiny voice of the little girl in the Shake & Bake commercial - "And Ah heyulped!"   That one drove me crazy!

Remember the Clairol commercials with the beautiful hair? And all the people gathered on the hillside singing "I'd like to buy the world a Coke...." And Herbal Essence shampoo commercials? And what was that shampoo that was in a bottle like a green stem and had a top like a yellow flower? I don't think it was Herbal Essence.

See? You're not the only one!

He probably will understand when he is older.....
maybe you can plan something special for him this weekend to make him (and you) feel a little better. I'm sure you've made the right decision. I have 2 boys and would have decided against the trip, too. Especially with drinking and water. Have a good weekend.
getting older? *ROFL*

You know, the older I get, the more intolerant I become of sm
ignorant people. I don't know why. There just doesn't seem to be much grace in the world anymore. I have a few friends mad at me because I'm "too busy for them." It hurts. I think people just want to be loved and forgiven and understood.

It's so hard to find those traits in people nowadays. Where's the compassion??
Yes, older and wiser, much so
and what you are doing is settling for less, but if that is the life you desire to live, that is your choice. Having a roof over my head means nothing if I am unhappy. I can get my own roof. You may not believe this, but I have the best possible life now at my age and do not mind a moment of my older age, would never ever want to have to relive the years gone by and that is why so many women writing in about their lives. Staying with a man because of children is idiotic to say the least. The kids grow up and leave and you still are in a loveless life? My husband has not changed since marriage and thank God for that. If you think change is coming, hmmm, doubt that. I have the love of my life and the time of my life. My sympathy goes out to all in these unhappy relationships.
Older cats -
I have had a cat start doing this at 14 years of age and another at 16. The vets tended to think they were losing their hearing and also becoming somewhat demented and confused, but that as long as they were happy to let them do their thing. I did just that...You might also feed her any kind of meat baby food or a good canned food to get her interested in eating. If her sense of smell is going it is hard for them to want to eat. You might also add Pedialyte (plain) to her water to make sure she is getting a good amount of electrolytes. Just love her and cherish all the special moments. :-)
VERY interesting! I had an older get get the same - sm
symptoms you describe after a minor procedure under anesthesia (teeth-cleaning). She wobbled around for 2 days, then I took her back. She was very dehydrated, so they gave her a shot of water under the skin. Don't know if that's what helped her, but by the next day she was better, and the day after that she was fine.
LOL! Now that I'm older and more tolerant -sm
I'm not above liking some sweet yellow cornbread with some corn in it. Or even a corn pudding - gasp! ;)
Older here, going around block again
You, I think, have the ability to get him checked into the hospital for an examination psychiatrically for 72 hours even if he does not want to go. This is very abnormal behavior- you are right in there being something wrong. It is not just with aging- I am in mid 60s and although forgetful sometimes, say with where I put the keys or putting things around the house, the cutting of one's hair such as your husband is doing is 1 prime example of behavioral problems such as in mental disorders and to not even know you are doing, well if I were you I definitely would have him committed for the time you can and as his wife, you can. Check out a mental facility and find out. You or he both could be in danger of bodily harm- a person who is unaware as he is (such as not knowing he is multilating himself with the hair cutting) could be very dangerous. I hope you will seek help and keep us advised.
I just had a birthday, I bet I'm older than
U.R. La te dah....
I would say possibly a little older
I don't have a son, but I would say I would wait until he was maybe a little bit older. I don't see anything wrong with boys wearing earrings. Like I told my husband who said he'd kick my daughter out of the house if she ever got a tattoo (she's 14 now and would be too young now and doesn't want one anyway), and I told him as long as she wasn't doing drugs or being promiscious, a tattoo would be the least of our worries. By the way, to the other posters, to each his own, but I don't see why you feel the need to criticize. My old boyfriend had an earring and my almost 60 year old neighbor has one too and he is very successful. If in time he doesn't want one he can let the hole close up. What's the big deal?
As a mom of 2 boys, now older,
who played baseball and hockey, do your son a favor and refrain from making a scene. It's embarrassing for him and puts such a negative tone on the game for all the kids. Be the better person, take the higher ground, keep your mouth closed and realize this should be fun for the KIDS.
keep away from older people who
had chicken pox when they were young as they will now get shingles. They itch, redden, but if you touch them they burn like the devil. They used to give Zovirax, but all my info is 20 years old, probably should go see MD.
