My hubs had it done, in office, local. Needed an ice pack for 2 days or so. No problems back in

I would not move back, either--sm
It is nice to help and it sounds as though FIL may need it, but with the others there, you would be *caring* for more than just your FIL and that would be too much stress. Perhaps, if it can be afforded, a home care nurse for a while, until he is back up to caring for his own needs. It is up to him to remove the others from his house, but I surely would not move in there...until they were gone...JMO. Good luck
Dogs are pack animals. They want to be with their pack, sm
Which in this case is you and the rest of your family. I would suggest putting her crate in an area of the house where you guys are, *especially* at night, so she doesn't feel isolated. Can you put her crate in your bedroom at night, right by your bed?

I also agree with letting her gradually have more and more freedom out of the crate as she matures and is trustworthy not to chew things and is completely housebroken.

My last and probably most important piece of advice is to make sure she's getting plenty of exercise, especially before she goes into the crate. I have 4 indoor dogs, and I've found that exercise is a cure for many, many things. (There's a saying in dogs: "A tired dog is a good dog." So true!) A lot of dogs just simply don't get enough exercise, physical and mental, to tire them out. All that excess energy and frustration has to come out somehow. Maybe that's what's happening with her? Take her for walks, through a ball, etc. I personally use a device called a Springer that attaches to a bicycle and lets me safely take each of my dogs for a nice long run (without wearing me out!) You can find it here: http://www.springerusa.com/ (I do *not* use the safety release that comes with it, and I use a better harness than the one that comes with it, but I have big, strong dogs.)

You can also get a dog backpack for the dog to wear with something in the backpack to add a litte weight and help tire her out more than just walking will.

Some dogs are also just very sensitive to changes in the household. Maybe she's picking up on the hustle and bustle of this time of year and is stressed by it. (If so, exercise with be a release for that.)

Please keep us posted and feel free to share more info. and I may have more ideas. ;o)
In Virginia ....
I was looking at Charlottesville, as well as more northern like Front Royal, Manassas, just not to close in to DC.
Virginia
I am a Virginian from day one and will never leave Virginia, at least if I have anything to say about it. However, I just learned recently that whenever you are buying a home here, your real estate rep will always be representing the seller. This was told to me by a real estate agent who had once lived in New York and moved here. Not only is the seller's real estate agent representing the seller, but the agent that the buyer has enlisted, will also be representing the seller. I know this sounds convoluted, but it is the way that it was explained to me. After I heard this, a lot of what went down regarding our purchase of a home, with regards to our real estate agent, started to make more sense. She recommended that, next time, we totally bypass using a real estate agent when purchasing a home, or to make sure we have a clear understanding with the agent that he/she is representing US.
I live in Virginia
and have often been to MB. We didn't start going until out children were toddlers and actucally were pretty good travelers (7 1/2 to 8 hours for us). Could you convince your hubby to go to a beach closer to Ohio and maybe be able to cut down on the travel time?
PS. I'm in SW part of Virginia. (NM)

Old Virginia is another good one to try
They're soy candles.  They're available at Cracker Barrell restaurants and online.  Some local gift shops carry them too.  I think QVC carries them.  The scent lasts through the whole candle.  They burn cleaner than Yankee Candles and aren't as expensive.  I've also bought them on ebay before.  I still like Yankee Candles, but these are nice too.
I'm headin' to Virginia in the next . . ..
1-2 years.  I have lived and traveled all over and have been in Georgia for almost 20 years.  I hate this backwards state!!  I am originally from Virginia and that's where I want to live out the rest of my life.  It is the best, and truly God's country.
My heart is in Virginia...
where the grass actually is greener. There's no other green like it. But, I had to get directions to my home place a while back, that's how much it's changed. I still want to go back, though.
39 and snowing in Virginia Beach
Absolutely beautiful watching the snow fall and then melt as soon as it hits the ground!
I am in Virginia and this is the first rain we have had in days! nm
!
Deep south, Virginia, nah I never
thought of that as the deep south. We think of it as the northern most of southern states.
Same thing here in my part of Virginia
the flu, strep, bronchitis, and just the plain old cold. There was even talk of shutting down schools from a Friday through Monday just to give this a chance to die down. That didn't happen but we did get a rather large snow that seemed to freeze the virus. That did help, but warmed up again and seemed to start all over again.
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus....sm

Santa Claus as we know him today has changed through the times, but his good will toward children has not changed.

This is a great link to tell you of that history!

Who's Virginia? No message inside

Go PACK!

I have and always will be a diehard Packers fan! LOL@ the Vikings fan because my closest friend is also a fan of theirs and it has always been a source of teasing between us! She has come up with some very creative names for the Pack which I cannot repeat here. lol, and the Vikings became the ViQueens through the years. :) All in fun, don't bash me.

I have never seen a broadway play but hope to someday.

Horrible tragedy at Virginia Tech

In Blacksburg, VA.  Someone went on a shooting rampage and he and at least 20 others are confirmed dead.  My son is in high school but was there today on a field trip.  He and his class were walking on campus when a professor took them to a safe room in the basement of a building.  My son used his cell (wasn't supposed to have it with him but thank goodness he did) to call my hubby, and he came home from work to tell me.  I of course went all to pieces but am a little better now. Just can't imagine what the parents of the other students are going through. They are now allowed to leave as soon as the can find the bus and bus driver.  He was sent to another part of the campus.  Just needed to talk about this a little.  Thanks for listening.

I totally agree with you. I live in Virginia
and don't care that he played ball here. What he did is appalling and he should definitely do jail time, but I also think what L.Lohan has done is appalling and she could have killed someone and only gets 1 day and some community service. Doesn't make since.
Pack leader
Some dogs are very strong personalities and need to have a strong-minded person as an owner that has no doubt as to who is leader of the pack (and it should not be the dogs). If the dogs are dictating who is allowed in and out and who the territory belongs to, they are in charge and as you pointed out, it isn't the breed so much as the owner.
GO PACK! GO BRETT!
I've been to Lambeau only once but really loved it! Greenbay is about 3 hours from where I used to live so we didn't treck up there much. Especially in the snow!
I would buy a pack, but not 2 packs
x
they can also pack their lunch
x
Also pack anything you buy in your carry-on - sm
one of my group made the mistake of packing her stuff in her luggage, every single thing was stolen that she bought there. I took mine in my carry-on bag, as did everyone else but her. Just be smart and aware.
I'll help you pack...
x
Not West Virginia....Wisconsin...they look close when you use the initals.
WI.....WV....very close
FedEx or UPS will be fine if you pack it
It is how they come to you if shipped! lol

You got any extras you wanna pack up...

and send to Maine, you feel free!

This is the first year I haven't had a garden and I'm totally bumming now that everyone's harvest is in.  My downfall are the little sweet cherry tomatoes that are all warm from basking in the sun all day and wicked sweet...I ate so many one year I swear I was pooping crushed tomatoes!  Totally gross but it was what it was.  Man, they really were just like candy!

Congratulations on your harvest!

Odenton Maryland/Virginia Beach Va info needed.

Hey everyone.  Hope you are all doing well.

We are scheduled for a vacation here in the next few weeks (business trip for hubby that we are turning into a vacation), and are going to be in the Odenton, Maryland area and then the Virginia Beach area.  If anyone is familiar with those areas, here is what I am curious about.

- In Odenton - book stores, yarn shops, fabric shops, flea markets, etc.  Obviously I have to do something to keep myself busy while he works for a couple of days, lol.

- In VA beach, a nice spot to picnic on the beach/near the beach that also has nearby access to a decent public restroom.  I know, sounds strange, but I have a health condition....anyhow.

Thanks in advance for info and advice.

I always put them in the lunch boxes with a cold pack. NM
NM
Pack them a decent lunch. That is garbage.

So, June Cleaver... what do you pack for lunch?
Finger sandwiches? Please. It is one meal of the day and kids would eat far worse if given lunch money. Now why don't you run along and iron your aprons or something :)
I just bought a starter pack today
I'm going to give it a whirl. I figure I have about 40 pounds to lose to get back to where I was for most of the years between having my son at age 25 in 1987, and my daughter at age 38 in 2000. After gaining the pregnancy weight in 2000, I really barely lost any of it and now nearly 7 years later am about 10 pounds up from that. So, I'm going for about 40 pounds but 30 would probably make me happy. I figure since I work at home, if I end up with the "alli oops" at least I'm right by the bathroom.
Your post says exactly what mine did. Animals are pack

Guys tend to pack light, and
probably would be embarrassed by something you were calling a hope chest. Nothing wrong with having a bin with practical essentials for them to take with them, but if it goes beyond what they can see they'll need immediately when they venture out on their own, they might leave it behind. And if it is girly or can't take a beating or isn't flexible about going from DW to MW to oven, it's not going to get used IMO.
Pack the cookies in more than 1 reusable container with lots of wax

Can't you pack hot stuff in a thermos? Chili, soup, stew,

Written by Francis Church in 1897 in response to 8 yo Virginia's question if Santa was real. You
VIRGINIA, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except [what] they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or children's, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measure by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus. He exists certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! How dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! It would be as dreary as if there were no VIRGINIAS. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.

You tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest man that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, VIRGINIA, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding. No Santa Claus! Thank GOD! He lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

Then they can get right back on their tires and rafts and float on back to Cuba! nm

Move to TX
Then come June if they are on your property - well let's just say that the law will be on your side in whatever you choose to do to them. Right now you can't do much unless you are threatened, but come June - with the new gun law - well, I think you get the point. I think some mace or pepper spray would be in order for them - or maybe just get the waterhose and spray them with that - it would probably teach them to walk to school by another route.
...and move on. nm

Please get over this guy and move on. You need to end

Move on...you said yourself...
you don't feel anything for him. Also, anger management is a joke, a bunch of (mostly) guys sitting around discussing their feelings about women and just getting angrier! I had a boyfriend who had to go also, quit after 3 sessions, said he didn't need it either. Took me 8 years to finally say enough was enough. Move on, your life is too short and you deserve to be happy and fulfilled. Let him be a problem for someone else to fret about.
I think you have to move them
I'd make a little nest out of an old towel, handle them as little as possible, put them in the towel and move the towel nest some place more suitable. I've moved a litter already, but the mother cat moved them again, so don't be surprised if where you put them doesn't suit her. Make sure she watches where you put them and try to pet her so your smell is on her as well as the kittens.

Why did she move? Don't tell me she got

NC move
Moved to NC about 10 years ago from Orlando, FL. I love it here but have found the taxes to be awful. I'm wishing now I would have moved to Tennessee or Texas.  I live in a small town 40 miles from Charlotte and close to the SC border.  Gas in SC is usually 8 to 10 cents per gallon cheaper. I know that most of the graduates from the colleges in Raleigh stay in the area so it must be a nice place to live.
I used that when looking to move
It's a great tool to virtually scope out a neighborhood before bothering oneself to go check out a listing!
Are you sure the roommate wants you to move?

Maybe it is just an idea that his boyfriend had. He really is not the one to tell you the news, it should have been the roommate.  So I'm wondering if the roommate even even knows about it, or if the boyfriend is trying to make arrangements to move in on his own.

Some folks just can't stand any confrontation, even what it would have taken for your roommate to tell you about these future plans.  If he has never done anything to hurt you before, I would think you could just accept it, and try to maintain your friendship.  If he knows about it, and if he agreed to have the boyfriend tell you, he probably just could not think of any other solution to the problem, other than having his boyfriend tell you, because he did not want to be the one to hurt you.  He probably wasn't thinking about "friendship etiquette" (i.e. being the one to give you the bad news himself) at all.

I hope you find a nice place to live.
