You keep hangin in there. It sounds like you have the ball rolling on things at any rate. With the way the production rates keep heading downward, my paycheck is not a whole lot more than what you will be getting, but you think, wow, 40 years of contributing to the system, it seems like it should be more wouldn't it?.
BTW, what service do you currently use and how much are you paying a month. I know that AT&T has an internet deal going right now for $19.95/mo. for 2 years, which is less than half what I currently pay with Comcast, so it might be worth checking out.
Keep the faith, girlfriend and don't be a stranger. I would miss your opinions on this board, 'cause as you say, there ain't many of us on here with that "liberal" slant!!

Those are hugs for you, Marmann. I know you are going through a lot right now and sometimes it is easy to beat yourself up for things over which you have no control. As a fellow chronic pancreatitis sufferer, my heart goes out to you. My disease, at the moment, is well controlled, but I know all too well the havoc it can wreak in one's life, not to mention the other comorbid conditions you have.
I hope you get the housing voucher so that you can maintain a separate household from your daughter because I know all too well how difficult it can be for mothers to live with their adult children sometimes, but please don't cut the ties with your daughter. I'm sure she does not hate you but probably is frustrated in her own way with your illness in that she doesn't understand the sneaky nature of CP and CF and how debilitating it can be. She may be even a little resentful of the fact that it appears you are getting a "free ride" (for lack of a better term) due to your condition and cannot work. (Trust me....I know that CP is no free ride!)Maintain open communication with her but allow her some space to come to terms with it all.
May God bless you, Marmann, and you can email me if you need a little extra support.

My dear lady, I don't know where to begin. Forgive any typos, because I am just fresh from reading your post and I absolutely have tears streaming down my face.
I had a cousin when I was small who died at the age of 6 from cystic fibrosis, but no one knew what it was in the 1950's, even though he was taken in a diplomat's car to UTMB in Galveston, a 4 hour trip that took about 1 1/2 hours. I never heard of anyone getting it later in life.
As far as your daughter, I can't even go there, cannot bear it. How will she pay the rent after you have left?
Do you have something like a camera on your computer? Skype is free, am sure this is your computer or MS sweetness and light would not allow you on it all. skype.com
I will pray for you to get out of dodge as soon as possible and I hope you receive the help you need.
Linda
Marmann:
I am so sorry to hear about all of your difficulties. Please try not to feel bad about yourself for having to go on disability. You are the kind of person the system SHOULD be helping, and that is what it is there for, so please let go of your guilt. I have always so much enjoyed your viewpoints on this board, as we share very similar ones, so I hope you will continue to post on here. The most important thing is for you to take care of yourself, physically and emotionally. I am so sorry that your daughter has not been a good support system for you through all of this. She will regret her actions one day, and that's a sad thing.
If you need someone to talk to, feel free to e-mail me anytime. I have a very sympathetic ear!!
Keep us posted on how you are doing. We are all rooting for you!

Marmann....I am so sorry to hear about your problems. sm
I hope things work out for you in the short-term and long-term. I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts.
Come back and post when you can. If not to debate on the "Politics Board", to at least let us know how you are doing and how things are going.
All my happy thoughts and my best hopes to you.
And as my dad would say...keep a stiff upper lip.
