A peck on the cheek is kinda intimate.
Unless he's family, European, or flaming gay (can I say that or is that not PC?) it's a total no-no. Especially for coworkers. A handshake or a wave should have sufficed. If not any of the above reasons, you can be rest assured it was his goal to leave you with a certain feeling. Be wary.

Yep! Sounds like TMJ. I wake up with the sides of my tongue...
sore because my jaw clamps down on my tongue and sores on my cheeks from biting them. I would also have an aching jaw for weeks at a time that required mountains of Motrin and muscle relaxers. I finally went to the dentist and now have an acrylic mouthguard I wear at night. I hated it at first, but boy does my jaw feel better. No more aching, no more trouble chewing, no more sores on my cheeks and tongue! Cost me $300 for the mouthguard cause my insurance wouldn't pay, but it was worth every penny!

Has anyone every been awakened suddenly after biting your tongue in your sleep? SM
OMG. Does this hurt. I bit the very tip of my tongue really hard last night when I was asleep and now can hardly eat, drink, etc. Just curious if this has happened to anyone else. Wonder if one of those mouth guards would help. I was told I have TMJ and grind my teeth. Maybe that's what was going on!!!! This is the second time it has happened! Many months in between. . .

How to remove car window tinting sm
I've got some ideas off the internet using alcohol, Joy dish soap, ammonia, and wall paper steamer. Anyone else have any ideas? Mine is on the inside glass on all windows. It's 10 years old and really needs to be removed as it doesn't clean well anymore and smears so bad I can hardly see at night to drive. Any ideas out there? TIA.

from something without washing it? I have a baby blanket my mom crocheted that is for a friend of mine who's expecting. Like everything in my mom's house, it has a bit of a cigarette smell, and I don't think a new mother would want to use a blanket that smells of cigarettes for a new baby! So far I've just hung it up on a hanger in the hallway at my place. (I don't smoke.) Any ideas? I thought about something like "Febreze", but that might not be good for a new baby to breathe, either.........

never be comfortable with what all this midwife is trying. It appears to me that the midwife is trying to play doctor - we've all seen it at times with nurses & PAs trying to be something they're not.
My OB group uses midwives and prefers that the midwives deliver all vaginal deliveries; however, I have insisted that a "real" doctor see me on my visits and deliver my baby when the time comes. I'm paying for a full MD service (i.e. they don't charge the insurance company less if a midwife sees a patient and/or delivers).

They usually remove the thyroid for hyperthyroidism not hypothyroidism. SM
If you have hypothyroidism, then your thyroid is low producing or not producing at all which causes you not to be able to lose weight. So removing your thyroid would basically be useless.
machine to remove cigarette smoke?
my husband's smoking is almost intolerable to me anymore. He won't smoke outside for me. Does anyone know first-hand of a machine that effectively gets all or most of the smoke/smell out of the room being smoked in? thanks.

First, thanks again to those who tried to be helpful/supportive. Secondly, i may (!)have made a breakthrough this morning, Praise God!! Sparing the details, after another fit of mine over trying to eat in a 'cloud', i put it to him this way: Saying, "i've been looking into air cleaners to remove the smoke smell from the house, and they will cost from $700 to $1000. So which is it going to be -- will you quit smoking, smoke outside the house or do we invest in these expensive air cleaners? I just can't tolerate it like i used to."
I let him ponder awhile and asked again for the answer. I about fell off my feet when he said he'd try harder to quit smoking and that he might start smoking outside the house, and might even consider a prescription to help...Good Golly Miss Molly!!

is it possible to remove rubber cement from clothing?
Why, I don't know, but my 9-year-old's art teacher has these kids gluing a paper project they're working on with rubber cement. So, needless to say, he shows up with a huge glob across his shirt (at least the size of a fist). Is there any way to remove this? Also, isn't this stuff toxic? Should kids be working with it? Should I call the school? I'm at a loss.
Try WD-40. I've used it to remove lots of things.

June 13, 2007 — A woman is lying on the floor of a Los Angeles County hospital emergency room. She is throwing up blood. Family members say hospital workers ignored their pleas for help, so they called 911 from the hospital frantically seeking help.
A half an hour later, Edith Rodriquez, 43, a mother of three, was dead, leaving the family reeling. The county supervisor is outraged, and it's all been caught on tape.
At 1:43 a.m. May 9, Rodriquez's boyfriend, Jose Prado, placed the first call to 911 from a pay phone just outside the emergency room at Los Angeles' Martin Luther King Jr.-Harbor Hospital.
911 Operator: "What's wrong with her?," the 911 operator asked.
Prado: "She's vomiting blood."
The operator then questions why hospital officials are not helping Rodriguez.
Prado: "They're watching her and they're not doing anything. Just watching her."
Rodriguez had been to the emergency room on three separate occasions. Each time she was released after being given prescriptions for pain.
This time, she lay on the floor of the emergency room for 45 minutes. A security video shows staffers and other patients standing by as a janitor cleaned the floor around her.
Eight minutes after the first call, another call to 911 apparently comes from another person not related to Rodriquez. "There's a woman on the ground of the emergency room at Martin Luther King and they're overlooking her," the female caller says, "and they're ignoring her."
The operator asks the caller what she wants him to do and informs the woman to contact hospital personnel. The conversation then becomes tense as the operator lets the caller know he cannot send an ambulance to the hospital.
"I cannot do anything for you for the quality of the hospital there," the operator says. "This line is for emergency purposes only."
"May [God] strike you too for acting the way you are," the caller responds. The operator says, "No negative, ma'am. You're the one."
The county coroner ruled that Rodriguez died of a perforated bowel.
After listening to the tapes, L.A. County supervisor Zev Yarovslosky called the hospital's actions a moral and human breakdown.
Last week, federal inspectors declared that patients at King-Harbor were in "immediate jeopardy" of harm or death and gave the hospital 23 days to correct procedures or lose certification. It was the fourth time in less than four years that the hospital had received the warning, according to The Los Angeles Times.
"I hope it's a lesson to the rest of the community that when somebody's in trouble and the appropriated reaction is not to turn your back on that somebody," Yarovslosky said. "It's to put your hand out and see how you can help."
The supervisor of that second dispatcher said his tone on the call was inappropriate. The medical director of the hospital has been ousted for his handling of an unrelated lapse in patient care.

I have a couple of nieces who smoke and their houses never smell bad - they use air purifiers and anti-cigarette candles, but I'm not sure where they get the candles. They smoke, but hate the smell of stale cigs. Go figure.

And who is paying for these ultrasounds? Are these lawmakers going to support these children. I think we've fought long and hard to make it our decision as women. It is our body. I'm sorry if I offend people who call it murder or whatever, but that is the choice a woman has to make, not some lawmaker. Also, which health care provider (doctor/imaging center) is making the money off of this one? Will the woman that is with child have to pay for this herself?
Yes, dad was in the picture. He was kind and generous and patient.
He took her abuse for 30 years, and then he died. He wouldn't leave her. He and I were very close. My father gave me a great gift. He gave me self-confidence. I could write about him forever! But I can boil it down to this: A father who loves and cares for his daughter, and builds her up, increases the likelihood that she will have great relationships with men in her life. I've always had wonderful men in my life -- very good friends -- and especially my husband. My father had a lot to do with that.
So thanks for saying I'm a good seed, but my father was also a good gardener!

there is a patient advocate or ombudsman in every state...
whose job it is to deal with things like this. the nursing home can give you the number and it MUST be posted somewhere. If you ask for this number, chances are, they will find the ring if at all possible because they do NOT want to deal with this type of mess, but you should definitely get in contact with him.
Dear Mother of an Adult Patient
Stop calling me to request prescription refills for your son. If he needs something, HE should call, not you. He is forty years old and fully capable of calling. Also, don't call me on Friday afternoon and ask me to put a Rx up front and then call me this morning and ask if I faxed it to some pharmacy. That's not what you asked me to do. And again... HE should call, not you. Also, calling me three times a day to ask if a company has called me to authorize your son's Rx is annoying. They won't call me. They will....Oh yeah. CALL HIM! Your voice annoys me. It's like screeching birds. In case you didn't get it, which you don't seem to, PLEASE STOP CALLING.

sounds to me like he is missing you and your mom/family life. He is probably hurting right now and needs you and for some reason he finds great comfort in being with you. My dad died 13 years ago and I loved having him around. I know your situation is different, but be the comfort he needs right now and I am sure this will end in time. He is looking for reassurance for something. Who divorced who? He is probably hurting a great deal right now even though he does have a new girlfriend. You won't regret being there for your father. Trust me.
Patient had heartburn after eating a "hot met"
this was in a report I transcribed a couple of days ago. I left a blank because the client allows 2 blanks, but it has just been bugging me ever since. It was an account in the southern US, so I wondered if it was something specific to that region (I've lived on the west coast all my life). Can anyone satisfy my curiousity and tell me what a "hot met" is?

Acoustic Neuromas:
Acoustic neuromas are small, slow growing benign tumors that press against or invade the auditory nerves. If your tinnitus is only in one ear, you should see your physician to rule this one out. An MRI will probably be required for a definitive diagnosis, but one contributor's ENT felt that an MRI wasn't warranted unless frequent dizziness was present. Acoustic neuromas are removable by surgery but involve a risk of hearing loss. Doing nothing should be considered an option by elderly patients since these tumors grow so slowly.
I hate the phrase "the patient expired"
I have never liked that phrase...makes me think of spoiled milk or something. We don't come with expirations dates!!

dont know where you live but they also have laws regarding what you can keep on your property, i.e., live pigeons,etc. There is also a law on how many ducks you can have in possesion at one time, meaning the dead ducks in his freezer. You can get into some hefty fines for that though so think hard about it before you start down that road.
I did listen when I was a kid either.
My parents were just a bunch of dumb hard azes that all they wanted to do was prevent me from having any fun. Well, the older I got, the smarter they got.
I am now going through it with my kids and I sometimes wonder how they ever kept sane. LOL. I have a smart-alecky mom that likes to say "payback time."

I had a male family member that went to stay with cousin every summer. His parents would see attitude changes, a little anxiety maybe afterwards, but he was a high strung kid. Years later, around 21 years, he told his parents the cousin molested him. They even had this kid come to their home for summer. Their child never said anything because he felt because he was a family member, the family would be upset with him or cause family problems, even though his parents had always talked to their children about anyone, including family members, that may touch or act inappropriately toward them to come and tell them immediately. It was devistating to the parents. I feel so sorry for them. They can't stand to be around their own nephew but their child does not want anyone else to know. But because of his age, they don't know what else to do but not say anything because he has asked them not to.
I don't mean to sound negative, but I would have second thoughts now letting a male child go stay with another male child, especially one a little older. That really opened my eyes to just how things happen under the wire and you don't know, no matter how in tune you think you are with your child. Sorry to turn this into a worst case scenario but just be aware.

I work for a large, world-class teaching hospital and I do pediatric endocrinology.
It's a very small percentage, but it's not nonexistent. Thinking that it only happens to someone else is one of the more stupid things I've heard in a long time.

One time about 5 years ago, I was driving on the interstate, my SO now DH riding with me. Was just passing the rear of a trucker, cars behind me so there were witnesses to this and I couldn't just slam on my brakes, put on his signal and tried to pull out anyway. Since I was already passing him, kept going, and he ran me off the road to the center. Pulled back on and continued to pass him, had his window open and flipped me off. I didn't see it because I was trying to control the car, but the funny part was my DH (SO) rolling down the window and hanging out giving him a double one back all the way until I got in front of the truck. I said WHAT is going on!! He told me the bas%$@d flipped you off. Come on, they're high enough up to see there's a car right in front of them they want to pass. I told SO I'm slowing down and get that guy's plate number so I can report him. He slowed WAY down and stayed so far back that I finally gave up... Guess he wasn't in such a hurry after all. We still laugh about my husband's ~chivalry~ that day, him hanging out there giving him the double what for! Wish I had a pic of that for posterity 
Not dissing truckers here, my own brother was one for quite a while and have had a couple who stopped to help me and went out of their way when I had a flat tire on the interstate one time in rush-hour traffic on Friday afternoon. My brother said that was really nice of them because it's money out of their pocket, but he did always say to report truckers who are playing games because it's so dangerous.
