Actually someone MADE me some of those last year!! LOL (sm)
and sent me an email this morning to remind me.
16 year-old made me breakfast!
It's a snow day today, and all three of my teenage sons are home from school. I'm sure my line counts will be low. It's not like they need to interrupt me with "Can I have juice?" or "Play with me," but, they do cause interruptions.

However, I have to say that at least I got one break so far today. The 16-year-old made me pancakes and sausage for breakfast, and he made the pancakes from scratch! He whipped the egg whites, folded them in, etc. What a catch he's going to be some day! (And he's learning to do transcription in the hopes of being able to work from a dorm room one day.)

Yum!
You are lucky, and so is he! It makes me feel good...sm
to see there are happy couples out there.
I made Cinnebons with my bread machine one year.
That was the year I heard the most positive comments back. Loved them! Used disposable 8 x 8 tins and wrapped them up pretty with red and green Saran wrap.

Over the years I have gotten the plastic trays that are shaped like Santa or something like that and made cookies, fudge, made 1 of the slots mixed nuts and mints. Those also went over well, especially the families with kids.
I made my son a crayon one year. He loved it because he could move around in it. That meant more can
nm
my mom made it good!
Squeeze out the excess moisture; put some mayonaise (no imitation) all over the fish, then roll in crushed pepperidge farms herbal stuffing mix and place on sprayed cookie sheet and bake (i think it was about 400 or 450 for 15 min?) Yum!
Made me feel good anyway - sm
I can see where the girl gets it though. Really pathetic.

They moved in a couple houses down about 2 years ago and I started locking my front door not long after.

All the neighbors had a BBQ party one night not long after they moved and that is when we all got a taste of how their house is run. The husband seems like a nice guy and I actually pity the poor man.

We are in the front yard of another neighbor and the girl comes storming up to her mom whining about not having something, think it was about a water gun or something. Anyway, the mom looks at dad and I am NOT kidding... she said, "Dale, what are you going to do about this?"

She wanted him to drop everything and race to get her a bigger one... AND HE DID! The girl was what.. 13 then? Give me a break!

Not long after, the girl started coming over unannounced, uninvited, and would just walk right in and make herself at home. Go through the fridge, turn on the television, you name it.

Thought, okay, the kid is rude. Then her mom came over one day did one of these tricks of opening up the door without knocking and saying "Knock Knock! ANYONE HOME?" As she is walking into my kitchen in the BACK of the house. She started doing this often enough that I started keeping the door locked.

She also will stand out in your yard and, while she's talking to you, her little precious dog poops. She simply says, Oops! but leaves the POOP right where it lands!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Yep...I always made good grades...never got in trouble in school (sm)
Never get in trouble with my job...I know I don't have any type of learning disability. But I just can't stay focused. I keep wondering why I can't stay organized despite my efforts.

Thanks
Just speaking for my brother, it made him more determined to have a good marriage SM
and is respectful and a wonderful dad and husband. I am proud of him for that. My dad was a good person, and so is my mom. However, together they were oil and water. I affected my sister and myself more than my brothers.
You're lucky (or he's lucky) the parents care

I have 2 kids just down at the end of the block from me and their parents don't give a rat's behind what they're doing.  They're real smart alecks - ages 10 and 12 (?), both in elementary school.  Apparently, they're quite the bullies at school, too.  They like to mouth to any adults when they whiz by on their bikes.  Is it wrong that I'd love to take my kids' BB guns and shoot their tires out when they're doing this?

Their mom doesn't care.  When we first moved into town this past fall (short-term thing while we're building in the country), I felt sorry for them.  They put on a good act.  After a few weeks of them coming to our house and pretending to want to play with the boys, we soon realized they were freeloaders -- wanted to eat everything in my fridge (without even asking first) and then wanted to play our computers or video games (without my kids).  I put the klinks on that real fast.  After that, they started treating my kids like crap.  I told my boys as long as they didn't do anything physical to just ignore them because they didn't care if they got in trouble and neither did their parents.  Their mom even had the balls to come looking for them 1 night after they didn't go home.  It was 9 o'clock at night and it got dark then around 7.  I couldn't believe it.

Just a few weeks ago, the 2 perps beat another kid with a baseball bat at the ballfield.  The cops were at their house quite a bit, but I see they're back out on their bikes again wreaking havoc.  I can't wait till we move back out to the country!

This post made me laugh and then brought tears to my eyes...good for you!!!
I think that is great you went to the school. I'm guessing he will turn out just fine if he's got a mom like you! *Hugs*

Can I tell you how good santa (or should I say God) was to me this year? sm

I received many gift cards and gifts.  I received the gift of unconditional love from my children.  I received the gift of friendship this year from my best friend who cries when I cry and will keep my secrets with her until the day she dies.  My mom is in my life now and is spoiling me ROTTEN.  She came into some money and has used a lot of it on my family - making up for lost time as we did not get along well while I was growing up and then I moved away.

All of these are great, great gifts. I was also given the gift of health.  I was the worried mom from a few weeks ago who was asking about abnormal mammograms and lumps.  I am 33 years old.  Today, I nervously received a digital mammography (my first digital one). My doctor went ahead and scheduled me for an ultrasound too this time (I've had both already). After the mammogram this morning I was waiting to head to ultrasound when the tech came in and said the films look great and no need for ultrasound. God is soo good.  Of course, she said my doc will receive the formal report in about a week, but still. Isn't that awesome news?

The most ironic thing about all of this? I am not deserving of any of it. None of it. I know there are so many others who are in such pain this year and for that I am truly, truly sorry. May you find peace, health, happiness, and a close relationship with God this year. I look forward to the coming year. If you don't have God or find Him, may you have love in abundance this year. All of you.

Not a good year or Christmas...

...yep, I'm feeling sorry for myself.  I didn't receive a single Christmas card or gift.  My only child and I decided to forego gifts for each other and just concentrate on providing gifts for my granddaughter.   A friend said she would call last week and we'd go to lunch, but I never heard anything else from her. Makes me realize I really have no friends and am not worth remembering.  Just a card would have made me feel better.

On top of that, I fear I'm going on such thin ice with both of my part-time jobs that I'm afraid every day I go in, I'll be called into the supervisor's office and fired.  I just can't keep up with the transcription as well as the other part-time person has done.  I'm in debt--really have not had a good-paying job in 2 years and things have built up on credit cards.  I used to think I was pretty intelligent--but now have doubts about that, even.  I'm ashamed about my predicament and have avoided people for over a year, so I'm sure that's part of my isolated feeling.  What can I do?

Where I go the prescription is only good for a year - sm
so that would mean a yearly exam if you want to get new glasses, or contacts. I don't have a problem with it. Now before I had insurance I only went every couple of years, but luckily it was added to my husband's insurance 3 years ago, so now going yearly....I am 43 so on the cusp of bifocals....have been squeaking through so far but next year may not.
You really have about 4 good lady singers this year
and the above is definitely not 1 of those! Where is all this attitude coming from? You find the better singers, the less "tude" you have. Enough said. I figure Miss Show it All and the lady in red, OMG like Simon, I do not know her name, are the ones going tonight, hopefully.
How about a good web site for an 11-year-old sports-crazed son??? nm
nm
Along the cookie line, have you baked anything new this year? Good enough
s
Good for you! My journey this year sounds similar to yours
Perhaps we are put in these situations to learn as we do and then suggest these things to others. You will have a chance to be a psychologist. I will still be a quiet MT, but I hope in my changed attitude about things people notice and ask how or why this happened. Attitude of gratitude is exactly the same technique as change your thoughts change your life. I think we all have an abundance of peace in our heart, we just have to learn how to get there. Most of my life I had no idea. I realize now that it is the want or thirst of control we have to diminish in order for peace to flow. And I don't mean lay on the couch all day and expect things to just come our way. I mean change the need for our having to constantly fix things and allow things be fixed for us in the manner of the universe. Anyway, great for you! And I hope that as the OP, we all someday find happiness in our hearts because that is where it all starts, and then like a flame can become a great big warm fire!

Land's End is good for suits. Don't know if you can access their swimwear at this time of year

My family made home-made mozzarella,
and it was very good. I was pretty small at the time, so I don't remember the exact process, just that it was done pretty quickly, and a lot of milk was used.

I don't know if you'll save a lot of money making your own cheese. The cost of milk is very high, too, and you need a lot of milk to make cheese.
Bigger issue - a 16 year old living withi a 29 year old and liability
Are you still not responsible for him until he is 18, how can he tell you where he will live?  Unless he emancipates himself and he does something wrong, can they go against you since you are his mother and legally responsible for him?  I worry more about him living with a 29 year old sister rather than returning a house key to me that is a bigger issue.
My 14-year-old is going to be a mother-in-law (so funny) if you google it and 11-year-old daughter

55-year old woman has birthday sex with 12-year old

DAYTON - Gloria Murphy gave children celebrating her 55th birthday alcohol and then had sex with a 12-year-old boy at the party on Thursday, Jan. 29, according to police.

The boy got into Murphy’s bed at 5440 Rawlings Drive, where the married woman had sex with her adolescent neighbor, according to police and Montgomery County prosecutors.

Two of the children at the party ran home at about 6 a.m. Jan. 30 and told a parent they saw the boy and woman having sex, according to 911 audio.

The parent then called police at about 6:15 a.m., according to a police report and 911 audio.

Murphy did not force the boy to have sex, but since he is younger than 13, it is considered rape, Lt. Patrick Welsh said. No other children were involved in the sexual encounter, but some other children at the party consumed alcohol, according to police.

You are so very lucky!

You are lucky! sm
I think you are so lucky to get these "signs" that your loved ones are still around you. I wish I could have similar experiences. I love Lisa Williams' show. Sylvia Browne can be a bit harsh but she's a real character. I live in Upstate NY and wish I could still get John Edwards' show.
How lucky!
That would be nice!! It would be nice just be able to take time off when you are behind on everything like housework, etc. Oh well, high ho high ho it is back to work I go
Yes, you were very lucky. sm
I tried match.com, put in a 30 mile radius ( small area here).  I found I had already met all of these losers, about 10 of them, in one context another in real life, and would never have considered having even a cup of coffee with any of them.  Lucky you!
LUCKY YOU!!! sm
Mine only cooks on the weekends about once or twice a year. We wound up having turkey breast but I wanted grilled salmon so I ate that instead. Yum.
Lucky you!!!!!!! nm

Lucky for me...
I'm not a Harry Potter person, but those who reside here are...

My daughter is 20, son is 26, and son's GF is 22. One is asleep after reading all night and the other two are quietly reading... the house is so QUIET!!

So... Lucky for me, they are reading and that I don't feel jealous because I have to work!!

They preordered and got the books last night. Unfortunately, my son accidently ran into a spoiler on the internet w/o even trying... so he's a little bummed.

Well... happy reading when you get off!!!
Wow, lucky you!
Was he a real ladies man and as good looking as he is now?
You will be lucky if
the kids don’t come back and wreck the meeting place where you were. I agree with you about the parenting. It should start really, really early. Hubs and I out last night for dinner and couple next to us with child, about 3 I would say that was all over the place but mostly a danger to himself as he was climbing up on the chair up on the booster seat. There were 4 adults at the table but not one called this child down. I am glad my children grown. Call me overbearing or whatever, my kids were never out of control like what I see now. Oh, I did not spare the rod either.
How lucky you are to be there! Have a

He's been a lucky cat (sm)
Look at all the years of love you have given him...that is so sweet. Most animals never get a forever home where they can stay and live for 15 years. It's sad but it's sweet too. You have given him a good life :-)
Lucky you!
Believe it or not, I sure wish I was there! I have lived in central Florida since 1994 and have not lived in snow since. So sad. I was so glad to throw the old ice scraper and mittens away, but I really miss it. I miss snow days (not horrifying like Hurricane days are here), I miss cozy in the house while the flakes drop outside and how pretty it is. I know you in snowy areas might think I am nuts, but it is still 80s here and the only snap in the air is something for about 10 seconds between 6 and 6:15 a.m. No sledding here, only A/C in the house. Oh yeah, there was snow at my downtown, fake snow made by the town council for a holiday fair. There was roasting chestnuts, hot chocolate and hot cider. Too bad my little boy wore flip flops, he could not go in the snow and it was too hot out to drink the cider. Oh well, at least it looked like Christmas LOL.
Yep, consider yourself one of the lucky ones!

I remember my one brother at that age...wouldn't be caught dead near his mom, especially not in the kitchen!  My other two brothers though, they were/are good eggs like your son.  You must be doin' something right!

He's definitely one of the lucky ones
I would be very happy if my husband received anything. Granted he gets a monthly bonus depending on profits at the shop (he works at a car dealership - sometime good, sometimes not), but it would be nice if he got an actual Christmas bonus any amount.
I wonder if maybe they have been lucky enough
not to have experienced as much death as some families.

I know when we lost my aunt, she was only 63, but still it was the first death in our family in many years. There wasn't a lot of loud grieving, but most of us were walking around in a state of numb shock.
Very sorry! She was very lucky to have you. nm

You are very lucky.
I read the book and saw the movie and loved them both. It's one of my favorite movies.
You are very lucky sm
I live in CT where just this week there has been three home invasions and about six months ago there was the one from Cheshire CT which made national headlines.   Two teenage girls and a mom were raped and shot. A total of four people are dead because of this.   All the criminals in these cases have past records. No one is safe anymore.   I am so glad you are okay.
Wow! Lucky you!
What state do you live in?
Lucky you!
Man that sounds like a great time! I really don't think you will have a hard time. I bet your kids will just enjoy themselves. Be safe!
you are so lucky!
you see, i clean my desk off every couple of weeks, and every time i do, i SWEAR the next day it is a pigsty again!!!
Lucky!
I miss Pittsburgh. Especially Primanti Brothers!
