Limewire & viruses...sm

I had to completely strip my hard drive and reinstall everything after my son downloaded an infected song from Limewire.  Luckily, I was still working on-site at that time and didn't lose any MT stuff, but it was still a pain in the butt.  Afterwards, I purchased Norton 360 and have not had any more problems with viruses or my computer crashing.  Then again, I banned him from using Limewire and choose to pay for the music he wants.  He totally understands that and felt bad about the virus, but I told him there was no way he could have known that song was infected and it really was not something he should feel bad about.

Have a good virus scanner for limewire :)

Agree about Limewire
My daughter downloaded it to my computer a while back and the IT from my company said that that is the number 1 for viruses. He said that one company had their whole entire computer system wiped out because someone downloaded Limewire to their computer so I would definitely be careful. We use Rhapsody. It's $14.99 a month.
For free downloading, I like Limewire. - sm
You can't download directly to a CD. But using a site such as Limewire, you can download it to a music library on the site. Music files can also be transferred from the shared library at Limewire into your own music folder on your PC, too. For me, that makes them easier to transfer to a CD. Then you can put together a play list and burn it to a CD with your CD-burner.

I have a Creative Zen MP3 player, but to be honest, I've never uploaded music to it, so hopefully another reader has those answers. (I bought the Zen used from a friend who has to have the LATEST in techie gear. It was already loaded with music, and I like his taste, so as of yet, since I havent even heard everything on the player, I haven't needed to add anything more. I have so many CDs I've burned over the years, plus my car has a CD player in it, that even though it's becoming a tad obsolete, I still prefer my CD player. (Plus the batteries last much, much longer than the ones in my MP3 player), so most of the time, unless I remember to recharge it, my MP3 player is usually dead. (Or "dormant"?) ;D

If you need help, a good source of that is teenagers! They know everything when it comes to downloading music!
I've never had a problem with Limewire, but I do have - sm
2 good virus scanners; McAfee and Spyware Stop. The newer form of Limewire is even better, far fewer suspect or "dud" files. I did have a few problems with KaZaa in its final days, but that was because it was pretty primitive compared to Limewire, and some dark corners of the music industry were purposely uploading infected, booby-trap, fake music files to the site.

Limewire does have a "Pro" version that you pay for, and I think it's a bit faster than the free version, but with DSL, I find the free version still downloads really fast.

There are 3 things in this world I won't pay for: TV, photo film & prints, and music.
I use Limewire - great site & only about $19/year.
