Jaws!?!?! I didn't find that scary at all! The Exorcist and Audition are the scariest for me.

I just hope she and "the dressmaker" get locked up this time.

There was a time a number of years ago -
when everything was so frustrating at work, at home, and everywhere else, I came within a heartbeat of just getting in the car and leaving EVERYTHING behind: Abandoning my job, my friends, my family, my apartment, even the pets in my apartment. EVERYTHING. Just leaving and becoming somebody else, somewhere else.
But I decided to give it just ONE MORE DAY. The next day I called in sick and didn't go to work, just to give myself one more day to think about it, and to pack and close out my bank account, just in case I was really going to do it.
The next day I went in to work, and guess WHAT? The boss had been fired! From that point on, things started looking up, so I stayed.
She may be asking about it as a form of birth control, too. Time for "the talk." 13 is NOT too
s
Christmas Story is my number one off all time - never get sick of that flick! nm

Poll time - should a 12-17-year-old have adult language CDs and R-rated movies...sm
bought for them? My husband & I disagree on this. Our 15-year-old daughter wants a DVD from a rock group that has the adult language warnings on them and I don't want them to have any of them, but he doesn't see a problem with it. He says she can hear language like that at school but I don't think a kid should own it to listen to the foul mouthed stuff at their own leisure. What do you think?
Anyone here ever have spells where you just wake up at night all the time. I have had this for
about a week and I dont know why. I am not worried or anything but I guess something is causing this. Maybe this job gets on my nerves I dont know. Hope it soon straightens out.
Watched it last night. First time I have followed this competition. (sm)
I really enjoyed it. They doing this annually?
My sister left a message last night and told me for the second time SM
she was called a little old lady! My sister is early 60s and very attractive, always colors her hair to cover any gray, dresses really nice, etc. She smiled yesterday at some adorable twin boys while out on a walk. The mother was close by walking also. All of a sudden the one kid yells . .
Hey, did you see that little old lady?? Then they both laughed. The mom called them over and was correcting them.
One time a few years ago my sister smiled at another little kid and the MOTHER of the little kid said . . awww. . Did that little old lady smile at you? see below.
Moral of the story . . Stop smilin'. It's dangerous to your ego!
And the scariest part is, they then carry this disease
among many others without even knowing and spread them around.
Resident Evil was scariest because it could happen
who knows???
My favorite time of night is when kids and hubby are asleep and the house is quiet...
Usmoms need some quiet time too...don't feel bad for feeling that way...I am sure we have all imagined what it would be like not having kids or a husband...but then that thought goes away and someone yells "Mommy" or "Honey"...LOL...
Bravo
You are so right. I think what you did is perfect. I, too, did not go overboard this year. My kids are grown, but I take care of two little ones and did not go nuts this year. They are happy and content. Too much commercialism for everyone anyway. My greatest gift this year was from the heart - my DH knew that I was missing my Jr. year HS yearbook from 35 years ago (yes, I'm getting up there). He went to a local junk store and found one for $15.00. That meant more to me than the rest of the things he got me put together. Also, my favorite aunt, from whom I had been estranged due to her wayward granddaughter, called me on Christmas Eve and talked for 55 minutes and 27 seconds. That gift is definitely priceless. I hope you and yours have a blessed 2008, as well as all MQ MT and QA people. Happy New Year!!
The scariest part is realizing how many truly dumb people live among us in this world....
They are up to 12,000 or more; so people are giving! I'm now trying to come up with one myself. hehe
Bravo! for posting this!....nm

Anthing on Bravo. Can't wait for new Mad Men

Bravo! Great idea!
Coming from a mother of three, that is a great idea.
Probably so relieved that she didn't keel over. BRAVO! lol

Did you watch Project Runway when it was on Bravo?
is that hair cutting one on it too? I LOVE project runway... dont know when or where it will be back...
"The Shack"...sm
Has anyone read this book "The Shack?" I have heard rave reviews on this book. It is said to be lifechanging. I bought this and am on the 3rd chapter.
"The Gods Must Be Crazy" ! - nm

or - "The fall alone will probably kill ya!"
Is this Boliva??
"The pope's nose"
No idea where this came from, but it's what my mother always called it.
Or...take notes from Dwight from "The Office" (sm)
Dwight Schrute: Yes, I have decided to shun Andy Bernard for the next three years... which I'm looking forward to. It's an Amish technique; it's like slapping someone with silence. Dwight Schrute: I was shunned from the age of 4 until my 6th birthday, for not saving the excess oil from a can of tuna.
SHUN THE OFFENDER!
Yeah, but I don't think "the rod" has to be an actual weapon (sm)
I think it means to teach your kids the right way to behave - you are the parent, you be the boss, the teacher, the leader.
Am reading "The Mothman Prophecies" about this

"The Cleaner" with Benjamin Bratt on A&E and
anything with Benjamin Bratt.
Does anyone remember "The Gathering" with Ed Asner? sm
We used to watch it religiously every year. I can never find it on TV anymore. Then, of course, there is "A Christmas Carol" with George C. Scott - the best Scrooge ever!
Alton Brown's "The Chewy"
I've tried all of the chewy chocolate chip recipes out there, and this is the best by far. The recipe calls for giant cookies, but for Christmas, I make them mini-sized, using about 1 heaping teaspoon of dough per cookie. They bake faster, so watch them carefully. I also add pecans to the recipe. I've made them with bittersweet chocolate chips and macadamia nuts, too, and those were INCREDIBLE.
Be sure, however, to really take your time creaming the butter and sugars. And let the melted butter cool to room temperature before mixing with the sugar. The creamed butter and sugar should be thick and fluffy and smooth, almost but not quite peanut butter consistency. If it's not, the cookies will go flop when they come out of the oven, and they don't look as pretty. They still taste great, but they aren't high and pretty.
I can't get the link to post, so here's the URL: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/the-chewy-recipe/index.html
And Thursday night is safer than Friday night - how?
We used to live in a town that was once in the Guiness Book of World Records for number of churches per capita (which by the way was the worst place I've ever lived - discourteous, Nazi schools, etc.), and they wouldn't let us trick or treat on Sundays. Ridiculous! People can say what they want but celebrating Halloween doesn't make you a devil worshiper! Just my 2 cents!
Google "The Secret" and you'll see. It's about how to get what you want out of life, bus
s
I hate the phrase "the patient expired"
I have never liked that phrase...makes me think of spoiled milk or something. We don't come with expirations dates!!
Try googling "The Stewpot" SHould find a link there,

Love his book "The Stand" - but that was a super flu - sm
that killed you quick. From what I have read most people live through the swine flu, no deaths in the U.S. as yet I believe. Probably like any flu, the very young, and very old have the most to worry about, and those immuno-compromised of course.
age is just a number; one is only as old as
I liked the Number 23 as well!!

number one cause of
Is cheap soap. Cough it up for some Tide brand or something dye/fragrance free and use plain ole Ivory soap.
Then I would wash everything in the house in hot water, including the drapes and have the carpets cleaned, just in case it is from the dogs.
I think the OP's disgust was aimed mostly at "the system" in general. Picture this...
you awaken at 5:00 a.m. after only having slept 4 hours, get the children off to school, work a grueling 8 hours transcribing for incomprehenisble dictators, while in between getting the house work done and prepping dinner until you remember you have to pick up the kids and take to practice, and you need to make one last stop out of your grueling day to stop at the market and boom. You encounter what she did. Sometimes it makes you wonder why you bust your hump day in and day out, year after year, for the mere pennies this so-called profession provides while others are getting handouts. So she had a 'moment.' That's all. No more, no less. Give her a break.
The person who last had our number...sm
still uses it, so we get calls for her all the time! We got this number over a year ago when we moved and constantly get calls for her. We always tell them this is not her number anymore, but I guess lately she's been using it to give to loan places because they told us this. They apologize but it still stinks. She has a lot of debt out there, especially for school loans. We don't want to change it, though, and go through the same thing again and having to tell everyone our new number for nothing. We're also signed up at the Do Not Call website.
that was more than a number of years ago...nm

It should be 3fatchicks.com (have to use the number)

approaching 8 is a litter. I have enough sense to know difference between normal births and in my words, nothing but a litter. The mother needs to be spayed. Now come back on that, also.
Is there a way to block a number...sm
from calling your house if that caller is calling from a cell phone. My mom has tried to block my dad from calling her house and it says this number cannot be blocked. I was also gonna block his # from my phone as well. I know it sounds terrible but my husband just came home today from working out of town and we were trying to watch TV and spend time together. My dad wouldn't quit calling. I mean we are talking every 10 minutes. I answered it about 4 times thinking he would quit calling if I talked to him. No he would just keep calling. And I am not exaggerating -- it was every 10-15 minutes. It will make you want to throw the phone out the window. All he says when I answer is I'm bored. I am like ok and why don't you watch TV or call a friend or something. He will literally keep calling and say I am just so bored. I can't take this. Why won't your mama take me back? Blah Blah Bhlah. My mom said a call from a cell phone can't be blocked. There has to be something I can do. I was gonna block my house # and if he keeps calling my cell I can just turn it off. Does anyone know a way to block a cell phone call?
"The Party" with Peter Sellers. None funnier. Not a well known movie, but hysterical. nm

call this number if you care so much...

or go to www.one.org
or savethechildren.org
THIS IS WHAT AMERICAN IDOL WAS DOING LAST NIGHT - COLLECTING MONEY OF which half was going to the poverty-stricken in the USA and the other half to Africa.
This was such a non-superficial American Idol...but again, did you even watch?
Josh Groban brought some of us to tears with those African children singing with him, as did Carrie Underwood in Africa with the children - very touching indeed...to say the least.
If you have their number call them back
I recently bought a repo'd house, and I have been getting constant calls from the creditors of the former owner...how and why they got MY phone number is probably not very legal, based on the address I presume, as I put myself on the "do not call list" the minute I got my new phone number. Capitol 1 in particular was calling me every single day at the crack of dawn (I work 2nd shift) wanting this guy. Finally I wrote down every number that had been calling me on a log and started calling them back, and behold it was the same company calling from a different number every time! I began insisting on speaking to supervisors and threatening them with a harrassment lawsuit. They promised to stop, and then started again in 2 weeks. So I started calling them back again. For now it has stopped, but I don't know for how long. I guess I'll be getting mail and phone calls for this guy forever more (he recently subscribed to some magazines and they're all being sent here). Sure would like to meet him in person and force him to fill out a change of address form!
I have had my phone number for 6+ years.
When I first received it I kept receiving calls from agencies for a specific person. I told them this was not their number, etc., and had no idea who this person was. After a while, they stopped calling; but now after 6 years I am getting them again for new debts, so this person is using my number (which may have been their old one) still. I just tell them I have had this number xxx years and this person repeatedly uses it for their info and eventually they quit calling. I did have to speak with a manager once, and after that they stopped.
now divide that over the number of taxpayers
and don't forget to figure in her tuition that we will all be paying. SICKENING!
Just the opposite for me - 13 is my lucky number,
Same goes for odd-numbered years. Those almost always go well for me, and without fail, even-numbered ones are the pits.
A number of years ago I was discussing
tubal versus vasectomy with the assistant pastor's wife. They had 3 kids and were done, but her hubby didn't want the vasectomy. Someone had told him it increased prostate cancer risk or something like that. News to me. Anyway, she really did not want a tubal because she had seen her mother suffer so terribly after hers, and her mother eventually had to have a hysterectomy. That was the first I had ever heard of such a side effect, but I didn't forget it, and have since heard many people describe the same thing.
A vasectomy makes so much more sense if you are paying out of pocket. My husband's insurance was through a Catholic organization so we had to pay ourselves, which is why we chose that option.
It's not a psychological problem. It's just not a side effect that everyone has.
