It is beautiful here. I am originally from Enterprise, AL but have been here for 15 years and love it. I live within walking distance to lake and love it! My DH drives 2-1/2 hours to work to Dalton GA, because he would rather live in Guntersville near the lake than move away from it. All should take advantage of it if close. Can't wait til the leaves start changing, but we need rain!!!

Yes, we're leaving Monday for three days. No plans to swim at the lake though - just in the heated hotel pool...LOL. We actually going to be in Queensbury, so the main goal of the trip is "kid-style" fun activities. Our "beach" vacation is later this summer in Maine...To be honest, I don't care if it rains all three days while we're in Lake Goerge...I will be happy to get away and my 5yo son will be happy just to have a "little fridge" in the hotel room.

We were just there this past July. I love that area. So beautiful. Would love to see it in the fall. Only a 3-1/2 to 4 hour ride from northern NJ for me.

I feed birds on the lake
quite often and really enjoyed doing it. I have seen others do as well and I do not see them becoming aggressive as a result of this. I also see the geeze and ducks feeding on their own when not being fed by humans. I have deer in my neighborhood and as much as I would love to feed, know this is not a good idea and should not so I don’t. I think that other mother is a total jerk for her reaction, though.
lake george NY ideas?
We are going to Lake George for three nights, leaving on Monday and returning Thursday. We are staying at the Country Inn and Suites right next to the park. Has anyone ever stayed there? I think it used to be called the Wakita and they redid it in 2006. Any input as to activities, we are 2 adults - mom and dad - and daugther, 8yo, and son 5yo. So far, we are using our season passes for the Six Flags Great Escape, maybe ride the boat Minne Ha Ha on the lake, mini golf... I think there is a drive-in nearby so we might check that out one night if it's nearby. Any personal favorites out there? Has anyone ever been to the Fort William Henry museum?
Oh - and "family-friendly" restaurant recommendations!

Want to tell you about my Salt Lake visit
as you said your MIL there. I visited there and that was the best smelling city I think I have ever been in. I wrote email to the chamber of commerce there stating that. Have no idea where the sweet smell from but wonderful smell walking on the steets there.
I liked the Lake House...and critics didn't if I remember
I liked her in A Time to Kill as well, but I'm a big Matthew McConaughey fan, which is why I watched it in the first place.
Utah or Salt Lake City, info please
My vacation is right around the corner, starting the 25th of this month. I would like to know what is this doing for the people coming into SLC, is there a problem with the fires there? I am still (hopefully) looking forward to visiting your state, my first time there. Any sites I should try to work in? Thanks.
