Nightmare Before Christmas!
Love the song, "What's This?"!
Thanks in advance for my nightmare tonight. nm
What on earth is N/T - sounds like a nightmare !
Culturally, we're a nightmare
I think we're bombarded with messages all around that seem to undercut the concept of responsible behavior. I think it's almost gotten to where we don't even notice it. I used to think of as a last bastion of good, moral, upright conduct. But I was seeing an alcoholic who quit drinking. He said it was tough being bombarded with drinking imagery. That's when I really started taking note, and sure enough almost half of the songs include coolers of beer, sitting in a bar, BBQs with kegs, and gallons of Jack Daniels, extolling on how much fun you can get when you're as wasted as possible. We worry about the bad language in rap music and violence in video games, but we have a lot more drunk drivers than we do serial killers in this country.
And even the country stars have gone 'hootchie'. Watch a music video on CMT and many of them are just as bad as what they're running on MTV and BET. "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" wasn't marketed at the urban hip-hop kids. Trying to shop for clothes for your kids that are both stylish and at least minimally modest almost limits you to blue jeans (gotta get them 2 sizes too big or they'll look painted on, and suspenders to try to get them high enough to be anywhere near the belly button), button up shirts, and boy's/men's Ts.
I wish there was some way we could regain at least a little control. I consider myself fairly liberal and a pretty easygoing parent. But so much of our 'culture' has gone so far, that I don't know how we can get back to a place where we don't feel the need to announce to the world a complete lack of discipline.
boring job. this is such a boring job.
having trouble staying focused lately. maybe the holidays being on my mind or something. just cant stay focused...anyone have trouble with the bordom?
Yes, boring!!
Yes, fitness and health should be promoted. Why not get off our duffs and go out and be physically active ourselves? And they are way, way overpaid - it is disgusting!
Although not as boring as the

I was boring.
I studied, was very active in church youth group, was in flag corp, babysat a couple times a week, traveled to Central America during 2 summers. I was a good kid. My parents were lucky!
Boring and overpayed.

Sports are not boring.
They are meant to promote competition and fitness. I wonder though if we had a disaster that would require "fit" people to help bring others to safety, would we be able to call on the athletes? I wonder if there weren't enough soldiers or police/firemen, etc., could we count on some athletes? A lot of these organizations also help charity. I know this is kind of off the subject, but I love sports, so maybe that's why I feel the way I do. JMO. Thanks for asking.
What a boring Monday!!! (sm)
My line count is low today even though I am working my butt off to try to bring it up. I come over here for a break and it looks like no one has posted anything new for hours. Doesn't anyone have anything exciting to say (I don't!!! was hoping you did!) LOL
Beautiful but boring
It is really beautiful, but after 10+ years living here raising the kids, I am beginning to crave a little craziness! Tourist season can be pretty awful, but all those tourist $$$ keep my taxes pretty low.
It is truly a land of haves and have nots. In my town, there is one house for sale for $23 million, but you can still get a real fixer-upper for under $150K. Still not cheap, but like they say, location, location, location.
predictable and boring.

We definitely need a car. Long and probably boring.
Our ྙ Buick has been very good to us, but the transmission is going. We've been adding something (don't know the name) every 6 months over the past year, but we don't think it will hold out much longer. Plus, the last ice storm really did a number on our windshield. We had a "stone crack" that was there since the day we bought the car, but the storm put a crack across the whole length of the windshield and back again. We are driving the car that way, but need a new one.
The problem is we can't afford anything over $2000 and most of the cars we have looked at are $4000 and up. Now, hubby tells me if I close out my IRA and pay for the car, he will guarantee to pay me back next year if he gets back to work. The thing I don't like is the word IF. I have been practically sole support now because he hasn't worked much this year (not his fault) and, with the fall in the stock markets, I lost mucho dollars from my IRA, as he did. He still has double what I have left, but he wants me to close out my IRA.
We need a car so he can get to work (over 50 miles one way) once he gets back to work if he decides not to retire, but I'm tired of paying all the bills plus our health insurance (which he promised to pay half and hasn't been able to do - to the tune of $4000 owed) now having to worry about getting another car. Am I wrong to feel this way? I'm starting to feel like he just doesn't want me to have any control or have any savings, that it is a threat to him if I have any money. He's my high school sweetheart from 1965, so it's not like we're yung'uns. He wasn't this way until his surgery 2 years ago. I know I'll never be able to recoup my losses from my IRA and sometimes think I should just do what he says, but I feel it's my $$ that I worked hard to get, although it will never see me through my retirement.
He just paid the IRS and state taxes before the end of the year before they tacked on any more penalties and interest, and made ME feel guilty because I didn't have enough money deducted from MY wages to cover it (we are still trying to recover from his open heart surgery). I am claiming single and really starting to hurt money-wise. It's just too much for me to handle. I'm paying all the cc's that we had to use to survive to pay medical bills and doctors after his surgery.
What would you do in this case? I use the car maybe twice a week when it's here to go for groceries if he doesn't get around to going for them. Should I take him at his word? Should I close out my IRA and get a decent car (which would probably last us the rest of our life)?
I just need another person's opinion before I make my final decision. Thanks.
Hel*s Kitchen
Chef Ramsey is a hoot!! I have to agree with you..I doubt I would ever eat anything they made either.
The other night they made them put all the wasted food into plastic containers so they could see what they did. It was sooo gross. LOL.
What I have always wondered...Are the people that you see eating there paid to do that? and do they hear all the commotion in the kitchen?? Especially Ramsey's language.
No matter what...I think the show is great entertainment.
kitchen
I am in the corner of my kitchen - it works out okay as long as everybody is out of the house.
I missed the show but yesterday on her show
a couple of brothers came in and gave money to the family. Sorry I don't have more info, but like you, I do love the show. The brothers tried to give some of the credit to Oprah but she wouldn't take it. She really wanted the brothers to get all the credit.
I thought it was boring last night . . .
The girl with the nasty photos is "vote for the worse" this year.
Who finds sports boring?
*raising my hand*
Not boring, but professional athletes..sm
are definitely overpaid!
If this is so boring - why bother? they need posters over there can't you tell
by this thread?
I guess we are one of those boring families, too...sm
We don't fight during the holidays, but then we really don't talk much either. My mom has Alzheimer and my brother just doesn't say much. I try to carry on a conversation, but it is hard to when you are met with silence.
I find Danny boring.
Can't believe he hasn't been booted yet. I'm a hardcore Adam fan and would like to see him win, although win or lose he will be a huge star. Anyway, thank God for a world where we don't all have the same tastes. You can have your Gokey, and I'll take my Lambert, LOL!
we are redoing our kitchen
We are doing this the cheap way and painting the cabinets. They are in good shape just need perked up.
I HAVE TO TELL YOU...I beleve ol' Nick has seen better days! OH MY GOSH. THAT PIC IS A HOOT!!!!!
kitchen cabinets
Has anyone ever re-did old veneer kitchen cabinets? If so, what did you use to "spruce" them up? My cabinets themselves are in decent shape, but some of the veneer is starting to peel off. My husband and I are putting our house up for sale and I want something inexpensive that looks good. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone watching He*l's kitchen
Anyone watching the new season of Hel*'s kitchen with Chef Gordon Ramsey. I missed last week but caught it last night. DH and I love that show. Ramsey tells em like it is. I hope some of them get better because I would not ever eat anything any one of those contestants ever made. They are supposed to have some experience but they waste so much food. Just wondered if I'm the only sicko out here who laughs when those people get yelled at.
Kitchen Nightmares
That show made me almost not want to go out and eat anymore. Some of those places, yuck. That was another one of my favorite shows. I wonder if that'll come back.
Hardwood in the kitchen......
Friends of our had hardwood in their kitchen. While out of town, there was a leakage from their fridge and it ruined the floor. Even if they had been there, the water got in the grooves of the wood and the only way to make it look right would be to replace all the wood. They now have ceramic tile which holds up to everything.
What type of kitchen mop do you use?
I am really frustrated with my kitchen mop right now. I have a cermanic tile floor that has to be mopped at least once or twice a week (when I feel like it). I can't find a mop that I like and gets the floor clean. Just curious what type of floor you have and what kind of mop do you use?
We have ceramic in the kitchen
and I use a Swiffer. I also use it on my wood floors in the family room and the dining room.
It was kind of boring, I agree -PS (I like Phyllis)

Well, Desperate Housewives was just a boring recap
of last season, anyway. But Blazing Saddles? I guess he is not as willing to compromise? lol Men! Lord help us all! They're just simple boring creatures, ain't they?
Sounds kind of whitewashed & boring.
I don't think anyone would be interested in my boring hermit MT life.

Love Hell's Kitchen
used to watch 90210, I'm finally sick of watching re-runs. My new guilty pleasure is One Tree Hill on Soap Net. Love Survivor.
Eeek. Now there is a katydid in the kitchen.
The critters just never stop. This one must have suicidal ideation. Wait till the cat gets a hold of him.
refacing kitchen cabinets
I am buying a home with a kitchen that needs re-doing but can't afford to have all new cabinets installed. Has anyone had their cabinets re-faced and if so, how did it come out? Is the cost really a lot less than buying new cabinets? My kitchen isn't really all that big either.
I got one to the local kitchen shop.
My mom knew I needed new pots and pans, but as I am so picky, she just got me a gift card so I could go pick my own.
Carry the hardwood into the kitchen!
It is just as easy to care for as linoleum and it will look wonderful carried through continuously. It will make your house look more spacious.
3 in the kitchen near the back door, and
I've seen videos where some people cut a side-entry hole in a big storage bin like you get at Walmart, and fill it with litter. (Can be covered, or not, though many cats don't like covered boxes because it intensifies the odor for them.) The high walls, with the only low spot being the entry, keep most of the litter in if they're real diggers & flingers!
sounds delicious -- my little boy is in the kitchen
i set him up with the mixer in the sink so he doesn't make too huge of a mess. he loves baking cakes cuz it's like a science project (he's 8)... loves baking...
We have a dimmer switch in our kitchen -
and on the box it said not to use them in a light with a dimmer - When we put them in anyway, they buzzed the whole time they were on. So we only use them in regular lights.
California Pizza Kitchen
makes a very good frozen pizza; for a while I was hooked on the 5-cheese and tomato. You can just see the calories dripping off of it.
I really like Blake, find the girls boring this year...sm
Yes, they both can sing, what is different about that? At least Blake is different. I like his sound and how he is not just some other singer. I personally cannot wait for "So You Think You Can Dance." I really like that show much better.
Absolutely!!! Get a room already and stop boring the rest of us!

Adam's screaming is getting repetitive, predictable, and boring... All his

Definitely modern, kitchen has dark blue
walls and cabinets, all built in white. Have dark brown slate on floor, so those are the colors and just drawing a blank about the counters.
Lysol Kitchen Bacterial Spray
and then wipe. Works great. I love the stuff!
The girl in the kitchen telling her dad how awful it all is...
and then her mom gives her money in the other room. That one always cracks me up.
