7 degrees this morning on my way to school!

Our kids were dismissed early last Thursday because of afternoon snow showers (better to be safe than sorry).  They also decided before sending them home on Thursday to close on Friday due to expected cold temperatures.  Temps were the same as today, yet we go to school today.  I don't get it.  We were off Monday for an in-service day, but they always schedule that on King day.  So why be off Friday but not today?  I'm guessing some higher-ups wanted a 4-1/2-day weekend.

Back in my day (I'm 34), we went to school unless it snowed 2 feet or we got an ice storm.  We never got off because it was "too cold".  I asked the school secretary about this, who's close to my age, and she agreed about "our day" and said she thinks it has to do with so many parents letting their kids stand at the bus stops for 1/2 hour or more because they don't want to get dressed and drive them to the bus stop and not dressing the kids properly.  She said you wouldn't believe the number of kids she sees at school dressed in shorts, etc, in the middle of winter.  We live in the Northeast, so it's not like we expect it to be warm this time of year.

I just will never understand some parents.  I drive my kids to school every day even though they're on the bus route.  The busses are just too cold in the morning and they'd have to get up 1/2 hour earlier and we already get up at 7:15 to be at school by 8.  I let them ride the bus home in the afternoon because the buses are warmed up 1/2 hour from picking up the high schoolers first and my kids are only on the bus for 15 minutes.  I also make sure my kids have hat, gloves and scarves when it's cold.  They don't always wear 'em, but they're in their backpacks if they need them.  Why don't some parents care?

Sorry -- off my soapbox.  This was just s'posed to be about the weather.   It's cold here -- BRRRRR

Oh lovely.
I have been really sore this week but a couple day ago I also hit my head on a plant hanging over the couch, then fell off the couch, tripped over/stepped on my cat and then fell on the scratching post. I'm assuming I'm sore from that.
Oh, how lovely of them...

AA degrees
AA, BA are worthless today unless they are in a specialized field. Technical certificates are the way to go now. Companies are looking for skills not paper that says you took 2 or 4 years of college. I make more money than any of my friends who have AA or BA degrees..
It's 23 degrees here
and we're having our first major blizzard. Just got home driving in it. No fun. Did I mention I hate snow?! Inside it's a nice toasty 68. Just watching The Ghost Whisperer and ready for a very early night.
It is 11 degrees here in

Laptops are lovely!!
Actually if you go to a best buy or something similar they can usually direct you to what your looking for. But personally speaking, most hotel rooms have ISP access, however most are dialup. You can purchase wifi card through sprint, tmobile and I think cingular and you pay them a fee to use their service. Usually when you sign up for one of those you get a free wifi card to insert into your laptop. Its a plug and play device so usually no software is required. Good luck and make sure you buy an extended warranty with your laptop!!
That was really lovely. I am sorry for your loss.SM
Ironic since I am close to Keys. I wish I could help. Think of her spirit being alive in you, her children and grand-children.
What a lovely idea! nm

And a lovely thought at that. nm

Very lovely picture, Misha

You were a beautiful bride.  Your sis looks great in her costume!  I have a twin also, but she's six years younger than me . . . just needed to gestate a little longer than I did, I guess.

Thanks for sharing!

Yours is real. Mine is semi-real.

It's so hot outside you could fry an egg on the sidewalk, 96 degrees, humid, and hot, hot, hot!!!

Hasn't rained in the past 3 days, frogs were singing some' fierce last night, so I know storms will be here at some point today!

It was over 90 degrees at 9:30 am in South Florida.

350 degrees - 25 minutes per pound SM
Put a rack in the bottom of the pan so the meat is not touching the liquid.  Put about a cup or so of water in the bottom of the pain with some cut up onions and a little salt and pepper.  Place the roast on the rack, fat side up.  No need to cover the roast if you want a good crusty layer of fat on the meat.  This also keeps the meat moist.
I have a balmy 17 degrees at noon in PA
It's snowing...again.  The kids missed another day of school.  One of the only drawbacks of working at home.  Can't call the boss and say I'm snowed in!  But, yes, definitely looking forward to spring.  I was ready for spring the day after Christmas!
I only have 1 question - if you hold these degrees
what are you doing on this forum? Why are you not putting your masterful degrees to a better position that would be more than the lowly MT
Tea party, ratcheted up a few degrees. :)

Ohhhh, that's lovely! I guess I should consider myself lucky...sm

My account (for almost 9 years now) is a large children's hospital, but I've yet to hear "snot" or "boogers" dictated.  They usually just say "nasal discharge" or "mucus."

Speaking of which, is anyone else grossed out by those Mucinex commercials?  I don't know why, because I don't have a weak stomach, but those commercials with the green, jumping, talking, dancing mucous/phlegm balls make me sick!  I can't change the channel fast enough.  It might be a great product, but I'll never buy it.  YUK!

Eeewww.  What a disgusting topic.  Sorry!

What a lovely idea. I can do this at a park that she and I both took my children to when they were

My morning

My 9-year-old son was late for school and had to run upstairs and get his homework.  He was running down the stairs, which he has been told a million times not to, when he slipped on the carpeted steps and proceeded to glide down about ten stairs.  I heard the ruckus and went running towards the sound of disaster.  There lay my son in a heap on the ground holding his side and moaning as loud as he possibly could.  I kept asking what happened and my daughter was more than happy to give me the play by play (with every adjective possible), but her words were muffled under the sounds of his moans.  I thought he must of hit the banister, as he was holding his side in the fetal position, but no one could actually hear my questions over my daughter’s story and his moans, so as loud as I could I bellowed, “What did you hit?”  All of a sudden, my daughter’s rendition stopped, as well as my son’s loud moaning, and all got quiet.  My son looked up at me and very seriously, with a look of utter disgust, said, “The ground!”  In a little under 2 seconds I realized what a silly question that was, but what a great answer!!!  I have just chuckled over this all morning and thought I would share it with all the mothers out there!

P.S.  He is absolutely fine, thankfully, and I do believe making his mother feel like a dimwit was the cure-all!!!!

She ate a little this morning sm
I got her to eat this morning when I handfed her (which made me late to start working but I figured what the heck).  Then I thought I would try the cream cheese trick and she took it in her mouth but dropped it and then got mad at me and ran away then tried to pee on the entertainment center.  *smile*  But no pee came out - so she was either just showing her displeasure or has no pee (which isn't good).  Anyway, that is the update so far today.  Thanks you all for your support.
Morning, oh most definitely morning!

I'm one of those tools that's always chipper in the morning doing the ol' "daylight's a' burnin" thing and annoying the heck out of the partying folk who don't get started until noontime.

Definitely morning...
I start at 5 a.m., take a break from 6:30-7:40 to get the kids up, ready and off to school, then work until I get finished for the day, usualy in time to watch GH before I have to go pick up the kids, but sometimes not!
