My sister-in-law and I walk together several times a week. We don't walk on a flat surface
we walk around a park that is constantly up and down so we get a better work-out and it is much more enjoyable to have someone to walk with. I have also joined Curves and really enjoy that.
automotive stores sometimes - hardware stores
whatever is close - advanced auto, napa, whatever.  It was rubbing alcohol by the way.
Yep. Just walk away. Nod a lot, and walk away even if they are in midsentence.
I even do this with my family if they start up. And when I start up myself (in my own mind) I distract myself and get onto doing something completely different. Some people thrive on negativity. I have enough problems getting my mind positive. Life is way too short to dwell on negativity. Just walk away and go smell a rose somewhere. Just my advice. :)
don't cancel
oh, you'd get your truly emergency treatment, but maybe less than the best. If you do have a hospitalization w/o ins, it can ruin you financially. Look for a lesser policy, higher deductible, different company; talk to your rep. but i sure don't advise canceling.
I also say do not cancel...
Part of it is because of what you mention, emergencies etc. but also bear in mind that if you cancel and then have medical issues or new diagnoses and you have more than a 63-day lapse of coverage, the new insurance will make you have a waiting period (usually 12 months) before they will cover this new issue.  If you think about the reasoning on their part... someone has never had insurance but just found out they have cancer and then they run and grab a policy, that insurance is walking into a potential million dollar claim situation on someone who has never paid out any premiums. See what I mean? Thus is the reason for a waiting period before it is covered.  I had a friend who had lost her insurance when she quit a job, and I tried to tell her to at least get a high-deductible policy so she has some coverage but she did not want the added expense. Well, guess what, she found out she had diabetes and when she ran out to sign up for insurance, not only were her rates sky high because of her diagnosis but she had a 12-month waiting period before they would cover anything for that diagnosis..insulin, doctor visits etc.. So, to make a long story short..NEVER go without insurance. Very bad idea. JMO
my own gut feeling is to cancel sm

there's just so much identity theft out there that it's scary to have too much info out there.  i think that is really good advice to save and buy with cash.  i do think it's good to have a credit card for an emergency like the other poster said.

thanks for your input

You can do that, sure and then have your insurance cancel
You are supposed to disclose any prior diagnoses.
Would you cancel health ins....sm
if you couldn't really afford it?  Or would you scrape by to pay for it?  I have contemplated canceling to get ahead on my bills for a while.  What if I or my husband or son gets really sick, say our gallbladder or appendix?  What would they do?  Let us suffer?  Will they treat you and let you make payments?  I am afraid to let it go because I am scared we may really need it.  I don't know what to do.
Don't cancel. When you pick it up again
if there are any "pre-existing conditions" then they can be excluded. I wnet for a little bit before getting insurance as I could not afford Cobra before my new job's insurance clicked in and then my daughter who had had an ovarian cyst 5 years ago was excluded for that and, of course, she had to go to the ER for another one 1 month before the new kicked in and we had a $4000 ER bill. DO NOT CANCEL>
Do not cancel your health insurance. You never know when you will need it. sm
I had no health insurance for 3 years and that is the ONLY reason I went back in-house. I figured I had pushed the envelope far enough and was due for major problems.

Most hospitals have payment plans and will work with you. The hospital I work for has a Care Management department that will come to the hospital to work with you on payment plans or help you find whatever help may be out there and that you can access.

If you keep anything, keep your insurance. Go for high deductible. Find a clinic that has a sliding scale, but keep it if you can.
How to cancel cell phone service
Hope somebody can help with this.  I want to cancel cell phone service (contract expired, and I simply don't use it enough).  Have AT&T/Cingular and was trying to find a way to cancel on line.  Does anybody know the magic trick?  Of course I realize they are going to make it as difficult as possible.  Just want to avoid having to talk to a customer service person, as I know I'll have to deal with the sales pitch. Thanks!
Cancel them now...rather be free of temptation. Credit score
xx
Cancel the ID theft protection on your credit cards.
If you didn’t pay for it, you’re not liable for it.
Can anyone walk me through this?
I just got an ipod today and cannot get songs to download.  I purchased some songs, and they are downloaded onto my computer, but I can't seem to get them onto my ipod.  Could someone please walk me through step-by-step to do this?  When I click on file, then copy to device, it tells me no device is detected, even though I have the connection to the computer and to the ipod.  Help, please!!
That's exactly why I won't walk our dog

My husband and I have a golden retriever/lab mix.  I am not an animal lover but do have compassion for animals.  My husband is the animal lover.  If my husband is out of town on business, I will not walk the dog.  Just the smell of dog doo makes me gag and vomit.  I will, however, let the dog loose in our yard and watch her to make sure she stays in our yard while she exercises, but I will not walk her because I wouldn't be able to clean up any messes.

As for fines, I would imagine there is some sort of punishment in our small town and I think there should be across the board.  Our dog is trained to do her business in 1 area of the yard that my husband picks up weekly before mowing the grass.  If I find doo anywhere else in my yard, I am not happy.  We have 3 kids who like to run and play and know to stay out of the dog's area.  Having to clean off their shoes because someone else was lazy with their dog infuriates me.

Way to go NY!!!!! Hope it comes to my hometown soon!

i try to walk more than a mile a day

How much did you walk? Every day? How many miles - sm
I have 60-80 to lose (80 pound weight loss being my HS/college weight) and cannot exercise right now except for walking (hurt my arm/shoulder). Since I cannot go to Curves right now until my shoulder is diagnosed and healed (will know the verdict Friday) I plan on getting into a walking plan right now since the weather has finally turned beautiful and am going to try to walk off at least 20 pounds before my OB/GYN appt in 5 weeks. Since you had so much success in 6 weeks of walking, I'd love to know the how much and how often you walked. TIA.
I walk to her videos too!

I have this one where they sing this "power walk" mantra in the background when it starts out.  Then I have that song in my head the whole day!  I think I'll just plug in my little MP3 player instead and find tunes that match the different paces, because although I enjoy the video immensely, that "music" has just gotta go!  Oh, if you walk to her videos where she uses something called a "stretchy band," I found a 3-pack in varying resistance strengths at Walmart for $5.00.  Total deal.

my guess is they take you for a walk!!
what a handful! But cute!

I appreciate your time,

get out of the house and go for a walk
or a bike ride or a picnic. Sometimes I go outside and talk on the phone or watch my kids play. The point is to get out of the house and be outside.
Your choice is to walk through the smoke.

People are made to smoke outside the store, can't smoke inside.  Smoking is not against the law.  I think people with body odor/bad breath smell way worse than people smoking.

don't have a *choice* to walk through smoke--sm
if you want to get out of or into the store. If someone HAS to smoke...go to your own car where it does not infringe upon someone else's right to not have to breathe it in and contract lung cancer. Body odor and bad breath do not inflict death and are easily taken care of with personal hygiene. Second hand smoke is just plain inconsiderate of others' health, but then why would you care about that. right?
you are not a pain....you need to go to walk-in clinic

Sunday walk in the park
DH and I were walking the dogs in a small park yesterday and a reddish bird swooped in front of us. It was the same color as a thrasher, but since he landed on a nearby tree limb I stopped to check. It was a tiny owl. Apparently an Eastern screech owl. They are common yet rarely noticed, so we thought it was really neat. The dogs never reacted to him at all, and the owl seemed as curious about us as we were about him. Our faces were maybe 4 feet from him.
Do you have any walk-in clinics instead of the ER? SO much quicker to be seen. Is

I have been known to jog/walk in place during a TV show.
I'm cheap. The kids stay out of exercise equipment that way too.

Jump ropes rock too.
I was going to suggest taking a walk, but jumping around

Some cats walk great on leashes.
Some cats have dog-like personalities, others don't.
Just get a very light leash that they can barely feel and be patient.
Her mother is crazy...I could never walk on someone's grave...

even visiting loved ones in the cemetary you know not to walk over other peoples graves...I was taught that when I was younger---LOL...totally disrespectful...Her mother is just angry that she is buried in the Bahamas and not in Texas....

Anyone think Nick is going to walk into his own memorial service?

It started off with a dog in distress, unable to walk
and I had sorta adopted the dog. I cannot bring it home. The friend has taken it in because her son is drugged most of the time. I have small animals and this is a rockweiler (spelling?). i am glad able to assist as far as surgery- I would have done this for an animal anytime, anywhere, I have the money and thus I helped out. Animals are my heart but I have just gotten to where I want the son now to buy his own doggie medicine. The animal is not sick, an older dog, not ready to be put down and like I said, my animals small inside ones so no place to keep a dog around here. I had suggested they put the dog up for adoption also.
Blah day I wanna take babies for a walk (pic)

Walk those beautiful pups, the best antidote
to a very depressing, blah day.
Gorgeous night walk in the snow.....
Walked the dog last night around 8 pm. There are about 12" of snow on the ground, covering the pines, the roof tops, and blanketing the side street where I live. It was breath-taking, which might have been due to it being 23 degrees, but more so because the sky was inky black with a few clouds here and there, and the stars were so bright. The tress without their leaves were silver, contrasting against the black sky, stars twinkling through their branches. The pines were still bent with the weight of snow and snow-covered Christmas lights on the trees glowed dimly. My footsteps crunching on the packed snow was the only sound heard, with the occasional snorting pig imitation my moronic dog does when snow gets up her nose from sniffing too strongly.

I hate having to dress like Nanook of the North and looking like the Michelin Tire Man, but walks in the night like that make me forget about the insanity I endure M-F, at least for a little while.

Technically it is still fall, this is Maine, so I might have a different take on the snow come March.

Go for a walk someplace where there are lots of people (sm)
Sometimes I appreciate my alone time and other times I am sick of it. Maybe you could volunteer a couple of hours someplace once a week or so, or find other things to do where there are people around. I know with working at home, sometimes I have to put myself out there to remind people that I still want to socialize!
And start taking 1/2 hour walk every
day and build on it -- adding another 1/2 hour walk or making it 1 hour.  Do something for youself every day.  Get up, get showered and fix your hair before starting your job.  You'll be amazed how much better that can make someone feel.
our kids have a 2 minute walk from school and
they have already been heckled by meaner kids, they even threw a beer bottle at my 5 year old. I stood behind a fence one day and stepped out in front of him just as he was rounding the corner and told him that if he ever even so much as talked to my kids again I would follow him home and tell his parents exactly what was going on. I told him that I would also talk to the principal, who I know on a first-name basis as i am VP of the PTO. I put the fear of God in that child but I still do not trust him or his little band of siblings he walks with. I almost fear other children more than I do strangers!

We must walk in love and peace every single day of our lives. sm
We never, ever know when we will be tempted to be rude or get angry. If you don't purpose to love others and count others "better than yourself," then you will fall into this kind of behavior. I never want to live like that. I desperately want people to remember for good deeds and love. I know a few people personally in my life right now who wouldn't be missed a second if something were to happen to them. Sad, sad, sad.
15 years, no weight gain, I walk a lot, fast.

Monster kitchen with a walk-in pantry. And maybe an in-house chef even
s
We have several stores here where they

have all the ingredients cooked/cut up and you just assemble them yourself or you can have them do it for you for a fee.

I think they are too pricey to do on a regular basis, but evidently they are popular as I know of at least 3 stores.

I have read about a chef coming into people's homes and basically doing the same thing.  They usually prepare a meal to be eaten fresh that night and then freeze the rest.   I'm sure there is a market for it, the young singles starting out in the corporate world with long hours, the wealthy who would otherwise probably eat out every night, etc.  I think it would take a while to build up a customer base so that you could actually make a profit, but maybe you could work for a caterer too to help out with the busy times of year.  Maybe you could get tied in with a caterer and offer such things through the client base the cateter already has.

At certain stores in MI, s/m

They will double coupons up to $1.  I do this a lot with toothpaste and stockpile it.  A lot of times it is 2/$4 or 2/$5, so I either get it free or for 50 cents a tube.  A lot of the $1 coupons are for new items and our local store here is pretty good about having those on sale a lot during the first few weeks it is out to promote it, so I get the new things relatively cheap as well.  You just have to be careful about not getting things "just because you have a coupon."

When I coupon shop, it can take me 3 hours because I compare all the prices with brands to coupons, etc.  You also have to really know your prices as compared to other stores.  I have one store where I get my meat and I don't like to buy much else there because everything else is expensive.  Where they double the $1 coupon, I don't buy anything there that I don't have a coupon and on sale for as their other prices are jacked.  I'm really careful about it and belong to an internet sites to help me as well.
