Just bought a Kodak digital camera without optical viewer and find the LCD screen is very difficult

to see what you are taking in bright sunlight.  I just read on the internet this happens with many cameras.  Any suggestions for this.  I dont want to spend tons of money on a camera because I dont use them that often but I am not very happy with this.  I tried to get a camera with the optical viewer but almost none of them except the really high end had this.  A lot of people complain about this LCD washout.  Just wondered if there is any fix for this without getting another camera.  This is a Kodak Easyshare.  Great in cloudy weather or inside but the sun is another story.

Does anyone that has a digital camera with only the LCD screen and not the viewer know where you can
find a shader to put over the LCD screen for washout.
Anyone know where you can buy accessories for a Kodak digital such as Kodak batteries, SD card,
carrying case, etc. all at one place. Thanks
Kodak easyshare questions. I have just bought a Kodak easyshare and it does lose a few minutes of
time it seems on its internal clock.  Anyone else have an easyshare and does it keep exact time for you.
Digital Camera

I have a digital camera that is only about 2 years old.  I used it one day and it was fine.  My husband used it the next day and the display does not show the picture or any information.  I have not taken it into a camera shop yet but plan to as soon as I can get there.  Just wondering if anyone has had this problem before?  Can it be fixed?  Is it expensive?  I hope I don't have to buy a new camera.  It still works, I just cannot preview the pictures, take videos, see the battery life or how many pictures I have taken, change settings or anything because I can't see the display.

Second to this note, if I do have to get a new one I am looking for suggestions.  I currently have a Sony, so I would like to use the same memory cards (very expensive and I have 3).  BUT, I do not like the delay on my current camera and would like a digital without delay but had a hard time finding one when I bought this camera.  Of course, small and compact size is also a feature that I like.

Sony digital camera sm
Read the book, Googled, given Sony digital camera and a color printer for Christmas. Don't understand how I can print directly from the camera. Is there an extra cable needed? If this is a simple yes/no answer, I would appreciate it. Dumb and dumber when it comes to pictures, have a throwaway which is the only thing I ever use. Hate to ask the person who gave it to me, as he's too busy. Is there a cable that pops into the little hole in the camera so I can chose a pic and print it right from the camera? Excuse the ignorance. Thanks!
Got new digital camera, resistent at first and now those darn batteries
am having loads of fun taking my furkid's pictures. The question I have is my batteries have already played out after a very short period of time. What do most of you do regarding keeping a supply of batteries around. Do you have ways to prolong the life, do you buy loads at a time, do you buy in bulk? Thanks.
I bought everything I need for my Kodak EasyShare....sm
at Wal-Mart.  Target & Walgreens also carries everything you need.
You should have bought different camera. We went

Bought digital TV still no luck
I bought a new TV that has digital in it and an antenna that was compatible with digital back in February but when the switch happened last week, I now get if I am lucky one channel every few days.  I used to have an antenna on the roof but someone stole it and I never replaced it because the analog worked well out here but the digital does not.
I use a nonalcohol screen cleaner for my LCD screen and it leaves a film all over it. Nasty and
it is made for LCD screens and a well known name.  Any suggestions.  I have to use clean water on a wipe to get the film off.
Love Barnies, too, but harder to find one now that S'bucks bought up so many of them. nm

I have an Acer LCD screen for my computer and sometimes I see the screen getting darker and then
lighter.  I hope this isnt going out already.  It is fairly new.
How does everyone deal with difficult, and I mean extremely difficult, people. sm

I'm not even talking about family members.  Just people in general. Especially the ones who are so kind to your face but you know clearly don't like you one bit. I have a few of those in my life. UGH! And I'm so kind that it eats me up inside, but I won't dare say anything to their faces. I just come on public forums like this anonymously and vent my anger and frustration!!

I met with someone today who told me to "love them," and feed into them and show them that you are not this vile person they make you out to be.  How do you do that? I'm learning that people, especially women, are just impossible to deal with. And I'm a woman!!!

Kodak EasyShare
My KES has a view finder and an LCD screen...it's a C340...guess it's changed since I got mine last year.  Check around, you may be able to find an older one with a view finder...good luck!
It is a Kodak Easyshare. nm

Have you considered a Kodak? sm
I just bought a Z712 IS, it is 7.1 megapixels, with 12X optical. It is really nice. I just upgraded from another Kodak with 4 MP and 10X optical that I've used over the last 4 years, taken thousands of pictures (daughter's high school years and marching band - some pictures even made it into the yearbook). So, was really excited about getting one with 7.1 megapixels, and 12x optical. Tried a few shots last night and they were great. Anyway, they have them on e-bay. We've been really happy. It is considered refurbished, but was never used before. Not a problem with our old camera.
it said it was based on which idea Kodak would like better; also, Donald said in boardroom

Camera, need a new one looking at the
Canon PowerShot SD850 or Cannon PowerShot SD100 and HP R927..Does anyone have one of these and how do they like them?
Take mine out but do not use the camera often...sm
and the one time I left them in, they were drained.  Could have been the type of battery I used, though (cheap ones).
what kind of camera?
.
camera tricks!

I don't know how he does the mind-reading stuff.  Can't blame that on a camera trick.

It's a BUG on the camera lens.
obviously
I don't have a video camera right now....sm
because ours was stolen. I will have to invest in another one though. Good idea!

Yeah and now she is saying she didn't know the camera was on her
C'mon, this was no joke. She was expecting the win - she even put her arms up and smiled at first until she realized it was not her name called and then probably got embarrassed causing that "what!" reaction. Watch it again. That's what happened IMO. lol
Camera lens advice
Would like to get DD a camera lens for Christmas. She uses a Canon Rebel SLR film camera. I would like to get her a zoom lens, but don't know where to begin so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Would like to keep it under $200 which I know might not be realistic. Is buying a used lens off ebay a good idea?

She takes the camera with her everywhere and probably shoots close to a roll of film a week so I know it will get used a lot.

Thanks.
My camera is 2 years old and I hate it

Digital camera, that is. It is a Canon Power shot and it takes the worst pictures ever. Every human in it has red eyes. I have the red eye reduction on and it does not help.

So, can anyone recommend a digital camera they like that doesn't cost hundreds?

Any decent camera shop
that has any kind of processing service should be able to handle the conversion. You might want to call around and get prices. They probably will charge per slide. Nowadays, they'll probably also put digital versions of the pictures onto a CD for you. They can even create a DVD slideshow with background music. My mother had a bunch of old family slides converted some years ago, onto a VHS tape.

Of course, if you want to do it the REALLY old-fashioned way, and you don't care too much how good the prints are... I once set up the projector and screen, and actually photographed the screen, and thus got prints. At the time, I was on such a tight budget, and the cost of making a print from a slide was something ridiculous, and I only wanted the photos for a reference point, so I could see them without having to set up the equipment every time I needed to refer to one.... I'm sure there are much better options out there nowadays. In fact, I should look into it myself....
Digital TV
This new switchover to digital has caused quite a bit of problems in my area.  We are over 100 miles from the tv stations and if I am lucky, I get one station that pops on and off.  I am looking to buy a big antenna for the roof, however, I am the only one here right now.  No man to rely on to climb on the roof.  I have been looking in the yellow pages and all I see is cable and satellite, which I refuse to use, I prefer FREE tv.  Anyway, does anyone know what type of worker installs antennas?  Electrical contractor or just a handyman?  I appreciate any help as I dont know anything about antennas.  Thank you!
I think it can be both digital only or printed (sm)
if I understand it correctly. But you have to have a pretty good printer to print your page creation, I would say, or be able to send the image to a photo shop.

The CM Memory Manager program is actually pretty affordable so far as they go; I think it's 40 dollars. I used some of the free organizing softwares out there but none of them really quite worked with my brain right, if that makes sense, and the CM one did. But then again, I also use their photo organizing system as well, and it's sort of based on that. Plus I could do red eye fixes and light editing, which takes many of my pictures from just mediocre to good.

As an aside, the paper products and tools that CM has ARE pretty expensive compared to some other brands, but the quality is really high. You can go to the bank on the archival quality of their papers, unlike the stuff you find at the discount stores. (I was surprised to find that there's no law controlling the claim of 'acid free' or 'archival safe' it means nothing legally!) Then again, they're not the only good stuff out there, either, which is what some try to tell you. That was true a decade ago, perhaps, but not anymore. JMHO.
What about a digital frame?
DH and his sister are getting one for his parents, don't know what brand but think he ordered off newegg.com.  Don't how much you're spending but I think there are some smaller ones you can get for under 100.  Of course, if they're not savvy on electronics, like my mom, you might have to set it up and don't know what that involves since I've never seen one myself.
with a digital TV you need a VHF/UHF antenna.
I can also be a rabbit-ear antenna that you connect to your TV and put next to the digital TV. Not necessarily a roof-top antenna.
The closer to a window and the higher it is positioned, the better it will work.
LCD Screen--sm
First, you are not supposed to use any type of cleaner except one designed specifically for it. no Windex or such. I use a *microfiber* cloth, damp. It works just fine.
Second, I have NEVER pulled out my eyebrows and used pencils or brushes to make them look fake. God gave me what I have, and that is all the *beauty* I need. Take it or leave it...don't like it? don't need you in my life. JMO. :^)
That's quite difficult (sm)
The title of your post said "preaching." How do we know what your post is about so that we may avoid the religious posts as you suggested? In the title of your post, are you simply using a one-word paraphrase of the post you are responding to or are you, in fact, preaching? The only way to know is to open your post. Once opened, it's another preachy post.

To each their own!
difficult because
My 15 year old son. Everything he wants is over $200.00. But I don't buy him anything of that techno stuff, so I have to get pretty far out there and hope he loves me enough to considering it a good Christmas present anyway.
Thanks. It's been difficult but
I am now pregnant again and although I will always struggle with the loss, I have happier times to look forward to now and try not to dwell on the past.

I don't think she really meant it that way but its exactly what she did. I was more taken aback by the feeling that she still thinks it was the right thing to do, no regrets, etc. I understand life being in a difficult place and safety was an issue for her and the baby. But to justify the decision because of where her life was at the time, I don't agree. She made those decisions (good and bad) all on her own. To some extent this was a major factor for her to decide to change her life in many ways and follow a different (much better) path.
Where I got my screen name..sm
Well I have always had pretty much platinum blonde hair since a teenager. It isn't natural but I always dyed it very light blonde and still do. Hence the name blondie. When I put in a screen name somewhere years ago blondie was taken so it gave me blondie_1147 and I have used it since.
RE: Digital Cameras - has anyone ever had a problem with your (sm)
digital camera and the LCD not displaying?  Is there a fuse or something that possibly burns out??
The new digital ones give excellent
pictures and you probably won't have to get any of those extra pictures they used to have to do a lot. They can see better all the way out to the skin, so if you have a mole or something it won't cause confusion; they can see exactly what's going on. Therefore it's worth calling around and seeing if digital mammography is available at any centers in your area.

I believe it is going to end the cycle of mammo/US/bx my mom has had to go thru in the past that always turned out to be just scar tissue (after the first benign bx).
Regarding digital phone messages

Can anyone here tell me how I can download messages from my digital phone answering machine to a disk, computer, Zune MP3 player, or other separate device, or if this is even possible with a digital phone that did not come with that capability?

The phone is a Siemens Gigaset 4015 and is about 8 years old.  One of the messages I am wanting to download is a precious message that my son left about 3 years ago and I would really like to be able to make sure I do not lose it.

TIA!

If you have a digital TV, you need a VHF/UHF antenna, no converter box....sm
If you do not have a digital TV, you need a coverter box and a VHF/UHF antenna.

And in both cases you have to do a channel re-scan.
She had a digital TV, I made the same assumption - sm
when I first responded. So now she need to know what kind of antenna to get, and she wanted to know who could put it up. In that respect I would look in the Yellow pages under antenna or TV/satellite installation. That should put her on the right track.
My screen name is a bow to the Beatles (sm)
George Harrison is my favorite all-time musician. I love him, love him, love him. He made the guitar sing. I love the Beatles as well.

I've never seen Paul in concert. He was never my favorite Beatle but wrote my favorite Beatles song (Lady Madonna), but I'd never pass up a chance to see him in concert. Are you going to see him?

I absolutely love the music around the time of Revolver and Rubber Soul.
Screen colors
Back in the day when having a color monitor was a big deal, white on blue seemed to be a standard default (thing WordPerfect for DOS) and worked well.  I've also worked on black on blue, black or white on red (until my officemate and boss both asked me to change it because it disturbed them) and black on green.  The really old monitors where it was green on black or amber on black worked well, too.  Maybe what you really need, though, is to just make the letters bigger.  In a Word-type program, making the screen letters (does not affect print output) 130% to 150% of the chosen font size really helps me.
Need help with difficult child

I have 3 children, ages 11, 8 and 5.  My 8-year-old has always been a difficult child, starting in early infancy.  He was always fussy and became quite stubborn during his toddler years.  He is now 8 years old and I really have my hands full.  He can get quite mouthy with his father and me (married and live together) and has even got physical with me.  He has always been physical towards his brothers and is always fighting with them.  He has given his teachers a hard time as well as my parents, who spend a lot of time with him.

One time when I was driving up the highway 55 mph, he became very upset (can't remember over what now) and actually slid the van door open to jump out.  I realize the child lock should have been on but wasn't due to adult passengers that weekend (is always on now).  He becomes so angry so quickly, and I'm really very scared for him.

I have tried several tactics for discipline/help in this situation and nothing seems to work.  Some things are short-lived results, others no result at all.  We have tried rewards charts, timeouts, loss of privileges, spanking (very short-lived and didn't work anyway) as well as professional counseling with a child psychologist.

The child psychologist spent about 3 months of weekly to every-other-week sessions with my son and wasn't able to give me any insight as to why he is so angry.  He indicated to me that my child definitely showed signs of anger through his drawings and behaviors, but he wasn't able to get any clear reason for it.  He also seemed to be not so interested in what was causing the problem as he was in dealing with it.  My take on it is that I need to know what I'm dealing with before I can begin to fix the problem.

My child has never been abused or traumatized.  My parents and sister have been the only caregivers, other than myself and my husband, to care for him.  My 2 other children behave fairly well.  I can't understand what's going on with my son.  I've tried to talk to him about it, but I can't get any answers.

I'm beginning to think he has ODD (oppositional defiant disorder) or possibly bipolar disorder.  His mood swings are so severe, I never know what to expect.  What really has me jammed up is that when it's just me and him or just him and his dad and he's getting all the attention, he's pretty much great.  Therefore, I know he's capable of good behavior.

Has anyone else ever had a child act like this?  Any ideas or suggestions?  Please don't bash me, my nerves are on end already.  I know I need to get this situation under control before it gets any worse.  I just don't know where to turn anymore.  My mom says *tough love*, but I've tried that with him and it doesn't seem to have any effect on him.  Once when he really misbehaved, I put him in his room and took out all the toys and knick-knacks, so there was nothing but his bed and dressing in there.  I put a door lock on the closet and shut the door.  When I came back to check on him about 1/2 later, I found him lying on the floor and he had unscrewed all the knobs on his dresser.  He was only 5 at the time.  It's like he's trying to get even with me for something I didn't know I did to him.

Difficult child
I feel for you mom, I can't imagine! My 2 boys are pretty good, I got lucky.  It sounds to me like, if he can behave for OTHER people, than it might not be a disorder.  My cousin had a kid like that.  If I were you, I would DEFINATELY get a 2nd opinion, it doesn't s/l the 1st person was very helpful at all.  You don't just give up (not you personally, the therapist) on a child and say "I don't know why he's like that!" He should have referred you to someone else. I would see what the 2nd therapist says, and go from there. You need to find one that is willing to work with you and your child, someone you and your boy are comfortable with, who will answer your questions and not give up on you, etc. If all else fails, there is always Dr. Phil...Good luck and keep us posted!
it will be a difficult conversation obviously
At 12 and 14 they are plenty old enough to be told the absolute truth. Let them have some time to process it, and then take them for a visit.

Screen names...how did you come up with yours?

So how or why did you come up with the screen name you use here?

blondie_1147, deenibeeni, cherrychecked, phillygal, LinK, Just the big bad, backward typist, gourdpainter, PAMT, PAMT~MDM, mtmomof2, Twiters, XanaX, Silly Girl, Old part-timer, SkateGirl, Just Me, starving artist, Horski, Lolabug, GabbyChick, Kendra, sbMT,  Kaydie, Marmann, Amanda, Stardust and all others?

They like to make it difficult.
And you can't do it online. So call customer service, and just say no. The service rep is trained to make various offers to get you to change your mind. Just say NO, and ask for a supervisor if you have to. You're going to have to say NO more than once, but it's your money, and you have every right to keep it in your pocket rather than give it to them.
It would be pretty difficult for me because
I was raised on a farm. As long as my parents are living, I imagine I will eat meat whenever they visit. Recently, at home my immediate family has been doing without meat, but we eat meat if we go out to eat. I think it is very healthy to go without meat, but I also think eating a little meat is perfectly healthy too. I am a little concerned about mistreatment of animals and people in factory farming/packing, so I like to eat at Chipotles and buy cage-free eggs.
Anyone with digital camers do you take the batteries out when not using or leave them in. nm
:
Nikon Cool Pix (pics?) digital
Got a Nikon from my husband last Christmas and I love it.  It is easy to work, is digital, software is simple, camera is small, but not too small.  Pixels are terrific and the features are many.  I would recommend it.  It is on sale most of the time at Costco.  The add on memory is fairly affordable too and I love to just keep the camera with us and add pictures until I have free time to upload them.  Another thing I love about is that the battery stays charged for a long, long time.  It takes beautiful pictures too!
