Is this really a thank you?

We've posted on here about manners before. Here's another incident: My husband and I attended the marriage of one of his cousins way back in April. We brought a gift, and as happens so often these days, we never received a thank you note. Then yesterday, we received a photo postcard from the couple. It was a picture of the happy couple on their wedding day with their names printed at the bottom of the picture. I turned it over, and the back was printed with our address on a sticker, which I'm sure was mass produced in a mail merge. There was no message of thanks printed or handwritten, just our address and the couple's names.
I'm assuming that this is a thank you note. It would have been nice if one of them had sat down at a table and had written something to indicate that. Simply, "Thank you for being part of our special day, and thank you for your kind gift," would have been nice.
Does anyone know when or why we've lost our civility?
