Is there an option for a charter school in your area?

I personally do not know of that would be better, but the class size from what I hear is smaller.

When is school out in your area? sm
It's Friday here for the Atlanta area. One child is eager for the last day to arrive and the other doesn't want to school to end because she'll miss seeing her friends each day.
charter or MCA
check into charter school. For example, in state of Wisconsin, through Waukesha, offers free (if registered by a certain date) charter home school, and they give you a laptop to use. Also, Midwest Christian Academy homeschooling with books is affordable at about $700 a year and are good to work with.
I'm a Charter customer. sm
Service has been fine. Make sure you keep their 1-800 number in your phone book because if you need to call them, that is the only way you can reach them. Also, usually they have an automated customer service to begin with before you get an actual person. It will tell you to turn off your computer, unplug your modem and router (if you have a router), wait a minute and plug everything back in and turn your computer back on. If you've already done this, I just keep hitting 0 (the zero button) on the telephone, and then you will get a real person. Once you talk to someone, they are usually able to fix the problem. If they don't, they'll schedule an appointment. However, 9 times out of 10, after I've waited an hour or 2, usually the internet is back up, and then I call them back to cancel the appointment. All in all, I have been very happy with them and have not had any down time in a long time (knock on wood).
I like my charter.net and my phone sm
service too. As far as customer service, I think they are kind of hateful but they are no worse than AT&T. Everytime I called AT&T I got somebody in India. At least, so far, everyone at charter has been American! To me thats worth dealing with some hateful customer reps once in a while.
anyone have Charter internet and phone service? sm
We live in the country and no fast speed internet is available until now. Charter has fast speed internet and telephone (and cable, but we are staying with Dish Network). I'm so excited about this! I've been working at home for 10 years now and never had anything but dial up. I've heard their customer service stinks. Anyone have experience with either service?
Thanks!
well, I think it's more charter or Montessori type schools than private.

Call the school. I had a threat like this in my high school and they cancelled school that day.
Thankfully, because the person making the threats was found with material for home made pipe bombs and quit a bit of ammunition and a shotgun. He was arrested and charged. Never allowed back in the school.
I think it would be safer to call the school and get classes cancelled for a day to investigate versus make a scene in the parking lot, especially if the student with the knife is inside with the knife.
Good luck. If nothing happens, pull your child out of school for a week. See what happens. I know that sounds horrible, but small towns is where this happens most often.
If that's do-able, I think that is a better option than IEP.
l
Well, of course it would have been a better option. Goes w/o saying.
?
floor option
I have terra cotta-ish tile in my kitchen and love it. You can buy the grout already matching and it's so easy to clean. Also, if you live where there's any red Georgia mud/clay, it doesn't show up if someone (kids) tracked in the house. Area rugs look pretty on it. Keep in mind that whatever you put down, if there are area rugs, the cat will likely puke on them rather than the flooring! LOL
I didn't know that was an option-
if it is I bet Oregon will opt out.
Only other option get rid of 'em. Which would cat
x
soldier's option
Of course they can deny things but the soldier also has the option of fighting that which they deny by going to the IG, inspector general, of the base. There will be a hearing and more than not, the solider will get what they need, especially in a case as this woman's.
You should at least give them the option.
Some companies have financial assistance to aid in medication in cases like this.
LOL! I agree with your first option. :)
yummy!
I was offered that option...
in second grade, to be promoted at Christmas break to 3rd grade. I was reading at a 5th-6th grade level. My mother, who had skipped a grade in elementary school, and then combined her 11th and 12th grades of high school in order to graduate during the depression and go to work, said "no." She said it wasn't a good experience for her socially and she couldn't allow it--and she was right, I would have probably ended up needing a tutor for mathematics, in addition to feeling out of place. I believe it's so great now that there are accelerated classes tailored to a child's strong points.
Gas with propane option.
Grew up with electric stoves. Was afraid of gas back then, stoves always blowing up. DH grew up with coal/gas and said there was nothing better. He wanted gas. Held off on gas/propane for 30-some years, but guess what I got for Christmas almost 2 years ago? Yep. He finally talked me into it.
Con was, and is, I am still learning how to cook on it, but the pro is my electric bill went down by $20 a month. It cost $100 for the tank of propane and I'm still using the same tank (15 months later). You do the math.
I still have the electric oven because they were separate units, but DH wants gas oven, too. I'd rather convection now that it's more perfected(?) than before.
Go for gas or propane. Gas is more expensive than propane here, and that's why we got the fitting for propane.
I will never go back to electric now. Gas cooks faster and the food stays hot longer than electric.
Don't snow this again option either...or SHOW ;) nm..
.
Homeschooling is a valid option. Please
feel free to email me personally if you would like any info on homeschooling. I have homeschooled all of my kids after a horrible experience in public schools with my oldest. I don't want to really discuss it here, though, as it is a topic that invites much flaming, and I have no interest in debating it. It works, and we love it. I just checked stats, and according to the US Dept of Education, in 2003 there were 1.1 million kids homeschooled in America. That number is suspected to easily have doubled by now, and new results are due out. My kids are in high school, a fully nationally accredited course, and are very happy kids. Oldest is college bound and also a very happy MT. Sorry for your struggles, but am glad you are challenging the system. Our kids are priceless and deserve more.
I forgot to add that what you said wasn't an option...sm
This paper was due in her 1st period and the media center at school doesn't open up until then. She was going to take it on disk and swing by there just in case she could convince someone to open up early for her.
Another option is Cytomel (T-3) and Synthroid.
x
As a catholic, they did not "Get rid" of that option.
There are 2 seperate ways you can "enter" a confessional - 1 is behind screen, the other is face to face.
Granted some churches don't give you the choice anymore, why I don't know, but they are not supposed to do that.
Wow - I am the poster above. I think this is a very good option
and I would definitely give this a try before my drastic option - good for you!
No the in-laws are not an option the only reason - sm
we "borrowed" from them was they did not want us taking a loan and paying interest...so they gave/loaned us $14K interest free, I have it down to $10K so far. That is the extent of their involvment. DH would rather die than have his parents know about this I know that. They do have the money to help but that would put us under their thumb the rest of their lives and I don't think either one of us could deal with that. We do have some assets we can sell that would pay off at least half of the debt, though I don't see him being too thrilled about doing that, it is a good solution to part of the problem. I am considering talking to my brother or my dad, but again he will have a cow when he finds out about that (he will lose face in his mind). He always worries about what others think about him, etc, it gets real wearing at times.
Any parent who choses to has the option of
But out here, I doubt there are many parents who are that fearful. There are bigger things to worry about (fires, economy, earthquakes, 401K, jobs) than whether or not our kids are 'emotionally scarred for life' by witnessing a same-sex marriage! :D
Not an option in my backwards state.
I would defintely vote for it to be decriminalized. Why should that be illegal when alcohol is legal and much more dangerous?
another option, unplug the phone when - sm
you have company over....then he can call as much as he wants and you will never hear it. I did that at night for over a year as I had a crank caller calling me in the middle of the night for a while...this is before caller ID...so I just started unplugging the phone every night and plugging it back in in the morning. They finally gave up by the time I started to leave it plugged in at night.
I agree, if you have the option to wait
a couple of months longer, I would wait. Just to be sure that he will not come back to the old place and you are at the new place. This would be terrible, wouldn't it?
I don't even remember having the option of booking early
but that was 10 years ago. I also agree that it was no big deal to plan your excursions once you were on board. Have a fabulous time! My mom us to Bermuda when she retired in 1996 and we still talk about that trip.
maybe should choose a grounding option other than a wedding.
nm
Some hospitals give you the option of sedation or not. sm
The hospital I work for gives you the option of sedation or no sedation. They have to schedule them differently, but how I am not sure.
I am not really afraid of small dark places, but if I had my choice, I think I would opt for sedation any day of the week for an MRI.
Now if only they could get rid of that "ball bearings in a coffee can" sound.
Sounds like my kids...on a school day "we just got home from school!" on a vacation day....sm
But this is our vacation! My husband takes vacation days and leaves town without us...lol! He would never dream of taking a day off to work around the house!
Old-fashioned ham with half the work and diabetic option~*~*yummmm*~*~
Pick out your ham
Pick your favorite mustard. (I like spicy swedish mustard)
place mustard in bowl about a cup or so (depending on how large your ham is)
add an equal amount of Brown sugar / Diabetics can use splenda
You want a paste that will cling to the ham. In order to achieve this consistency add pineapple juice to the regular mixture or diet sprite to the diabetic one and then smear this all over the ham. Place in pan, cover to keep in moisture and cook according your hams directions.
I like to open it up and pour the juices over the ham. EVEN IF you dont like mustard you will like this. Try it it is VUNDERFUL muah lol

How is the school's fault if Johnny comes to school armed?
And how is the school's fault if off campus people are getting jumped? Everybody wants to blame the schools, but the reason places have gone "zero tolerance" is because every parent whose kid gets popped for an illegal weapon says, "Oh, my little pookie wouldn't do that." Which is exactly what the parents of every perpetrator of school violence has said. At 15, this girl should have been aware that it was verboten and, if they felt that strongly it was necessary, kept it hidden. If she is not capable of thinking that part through, maybe she shouldn't be trusted with pepper spray anyway.
How is this kid in school with chronic infestation? School nurse

In our school district you can go to any school that you want
but you actually have to pay if you don't live in the District. The private schools here are outrageously priced. You could almost send your child to a community college for the amount they charge.
Yep, we have it in our area.
Central PA, lots of Pennsylvania Dutch. My husband's family owns a butcher shop and they make and sell a lot of scrapple. I personally don't like it. And yes, I do believe it is made from scraps. I can double check if anyone REALLY wants to know. LOL!
I don't know what area you are from, but..
around here you can buy gift cards from grocery stores that give gas perks and earn points towards getting cheaper gas. A lot of them sell a wide variety of giftcards.
KC area
We live in the Kansas City area, my daughter's school had a threatening note found in the bathroom, now have metal detectors and police on campus, another county close by had all schools shut down due to bomb threat, but get this, the person suspected is not a kid, he is 47 years old. In the last 1-1/2 days, have had 4 schools in this area shut down because of bomb threats. It is getting too scary to even send your child to school, can you imagine what it is going to be like in another 10 years?
NMB area, what area are you in..?
Don't know if available in your area but...
you may want to check at your local WalMart for a NET 10 phone. In our area the NET 10 is a lot cheaper, .10 a minute compared to .25 a minute, and NET 10 and Trac are both made and serviced by the same company. May be different in your area, but worth a look? We tried the Trac phones first because we did not know about NET 10. The NET 10 phones are much better quality, they cost just a little more, and they seem to pick up in more areas, we have a lot of mountains. You can even go to the website and buy minutes, NET10.com. With the prepaid phones, it sure teaches the kids how to manage minutes, they hate to carry my phone if they run out. Costs me about $15.00 a month per phone because once the minutes are up, they have to wait until new airtime is due to get more minutes. Trac and NET 10 both do roll over unused minutes not used when you buy new airtime. Even our local dollar store carries the airtime cards, and once set up it is easy to add minutes. Just make sure you add minutes by the due date or you have to call the company and have the phone reset. That can be a pain.
area
It was at a place called Riverside park in a very populated area.
I'm in FL too but in an area where they don't do this.
I'm in Miami-Dade for 30 years and they don't paddle here in the public schools nor do they make you write 100-200 times the same sentence. Yes, the school system after elementary school is absolutely awful here, but they don't paddle. My kids went through the entire system here and came out FINE....though the entire time, even in elementary school, there were 40+ kids in every classroom....and is another reason why the system here is awful.....My kids were never late to school and got awards for attendance until getting to HS. Things changed then but they got over it and are pushing 30 and are well-rounded hard-working individuals.....Their best education was obtained in the home, I must say in this particular case. *grins*
In my area it is *70 and turns it off just for..
that call. If that doesn't work look in the front of your white pages telephone book and it should give you the code for your area.
Is there a dog rescue in your area?
I would call them ASAP. They will probably know exactly what is going on with her. They may have meds to treat her too.
any MTs in Shelbyville, KY area?
x
are you in Louisville, KY area?
Our soon-to-grad daughter will be relocating to that area and needs to find a home ASAP, preferably in surrounding countryside, where she can keep a horse and dogs, etc. Do you know of anything that might not be on the market yet, for example? A very good realtor? thanks.
Rural area also
I also live in a rural area and have a farm. Unfortunately a lot of people are moving to this area and since it is rural, decide that they can let their dogs "roam free" which means I have a lot of livestock killed. The owners, when notified, say that their baby could not possibly be responsible for the carnage and refuse to pay. I lost $4,000 worth of registered pregnant ewes (not counting the value of the fetal lambs) in one evening to a black lab which I shot and killed. Now I don't bother to give the owners a warning, I just shoot every dog that I find on my property unless it's something like a toy poodle.
$3.19 in Louisville area
but our gas is supposedly "increased" because of the Derby this weekend. Yesterday afternoon I saw it for $2.98 and was not able to stop and get it then. Planned to on the way home. Three to four hours later - it was $3.19!! - just like the rest.
Tx, will check them out in my area. NM

We are also fortunate here in our area...
we have a small (1500 sf) home, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, will be remodeling the bath and kitchen in the next year and adding 2 rooms upstairs. We live on 15 acres, have a 4-stall horse barn, a shop, a beautiful view, live in the country, mortgage is only 1100 a month and property taxes are less than 1000 a year. My dh only paid 185,000 for the place and it is now appraised at over 350,000. Used to live in California, so know the whole story about home prices there. We have Californians who migrate here and buy houses sometimes just by seeing a picture on the internet, never even come up to look at it in person.
