Inhouse vs IC

I own my own MT business, but before I took the plunge, I worked at home as an IC. The nice part about it is that my boss said that as long as you got your 8 hours in, you were good to go. I had a husband that worked part time and a son in school. I would work fin the morning until my husband got home (2ish). He and the son played on it until about 8:30. I got son and husband off to bed and then finished up my 8 hours. I had my best line counts from about 10-1 or 2 in the a.m. I liked the schedule because I could help at my son's school, have a doc appt, etc. Inhouse I could too but I would lose pay for it or have to use PTO. I think it just depends on your mindset. I didn't have a problem multi-tasking and still got my work done. It can be done, you just have to do what is best for you and your situation, not somebody else.

You need to go back inhouse is you want or expect that. sm

Problem is, as you know, inhouse has now gone to a company. "Deserve"' has nothing to do with anything out here. If you think so, I invite you, form a union.

Until we have anything near to that. you sign a contract, or no contract, and you agree to cover certain hours, on certain days. That is the way it is.

Thanks. I figure the one good thing is that their lab is inhouse so won't have to wait
for another company bogged down with labs from 10 other facilities.

See why working at home, and even covering some hours of holidays is better than inhouse?
We aren't able to keep track of the other office workers, build up resentment against them. Love that inhouse stuff.
