then count your blessings. I know personally in my family and through others, of women/girls who don't know their baby's daddy (does the name Maury ring a bell), drug abusers, child loss, living such a worldly, superficial life....
Her life was not surprising to me. She was just a looker, just gorgeous if you ask me, and so she was like a bright light you couldn't take your eyes off, yet annoying if you stared too hard!

Well I guess it is a pretty sensational story judging by the media coverage!

I've heard of tops and also heard it is a good group.
OMG. I have never heard a fish story like that
I still have my christmas lights up on my front porch.
I have been living that life for the last 2 years. Very familiar story. SM
I have two kids at home and a baby on the way. My husband keeps gettign laid of jobs due to slow business Just got word that after Christmas he will be laid off again. As it is, we can barely afford to feed the family... so dont know what we will do come January when we lose his income.
There are no jobs for him to apply to. We do not qualify for unemployment for some reason....
And its not like we are lazy or bad people. All we do is work. I work 3 different jobs for 3 different MT companies. I wake up 2 hours before the kids go to school, work while they are in school, and even have to make up soem time at nigth when everyone is sleeping. That in addition to my husband's job... we can barely, and I mean barely make it...
Then I spend the rest of my free time cleaning the house, doing dishes, laundry, errands, bills, homework with the kids. Im pregnant and should be getting more rest. HA!! What a joke.
And I know all about the bank fees. We pay probably 100-200 a month in fees becuase when you live paycheck to paycheck it is just something that happens.. Sorry folks... Its not about being good a balancing your checkbook... not in these times. We have to play russian roulette with the monies sometimes.
My husband and myself do not have insurnace. I do now through Medicade because I am pregnant. We were hoping to drop the Medicaid when my husband's insurance kicked in... but he got laid off before that happened. My kids have CHIP, so that is good... But I am down to my last pair of contacts and I havent taken them out in 2 months because I do not have the extra 100 dollars to make an appt and then 50 for the contacts.
The school hits us up for $$$ every week for this, that, and the other thing... which all that does is take food off our plates. If one of my kids loses a shoe or needs a winter jacket, etc.... it puts us out.
Not to mention on top of all of that... My brother-in-law was in a car accident in a car he bought from my husband, but never took the time to put it in his name, and now it is back on us. We have 30 days to come up with 4000 dollars or my they take my husband's license away. Sounds crazy huh? Lawyers say they cannot do that... but they say they can...(the insurance company), but who has money to pay the lawyer for the help?? Not us.
I could go on and on and on and on and on and on.. LIke how it is Christmas, which is hard enough, but on Dec 31st it is my daughter's b-day and then just 3 weeks later it is my other daughter's birthday... How I am going to give them a nice birthday is beyond me...
Anyway, you are not alone!!!!! Of course I have never thought about suicide. That is not an option for me and I cant imagine ever would be...
If you think that way, you need some medication and therapy real quick!!!!!! Other than that, what is the worst that can happen? There has got to be help somewhere... food stamps??? I am going to look into them myself... I might have to skip on paying rent this month... and hope the landlord understands...
Come January 20th, I hope some good things start to happen and we can be on the road to a brighter future... but until then... we have to ride it out somehow. How, I dont know. I just take every day at a time...
And this morning, I cried during my first hour of typing... Typing through the tears.. so you are not alone there either.
I have never in my transcription life heard of this
How interesting though. How did she find out exactly what the cause was, can it be picked up on xray? Mine has been here over a year now and terribly uncomfortable. I think I posted have tried numerous physicians of all specialities and no one has been able to tell me what is the problem. After a year of this pain I would like to have it gone. How did her surgery go, how long was the convalescent period, etc., etc. I find this tremendously interesting.
Oh, gee, get a freakin life! Haven't you ever heard of something
called IMAGINATION! You sound just like the mother on Miracle on 34th Street. Life is hard enough, why not let your kids have fun in the believing in Santa?
Just heard lone gunman took his own life ...
God bless his poor troubled soul.
I've been following the same story....
An airport was considering adding foot baths so that their muslim cab drivers had somewhere to wash their feet, instead of the same sinks travelers use to wash their face and hands. This is ridiculous. Are airports going to set up special rituals for ALL faiths or just kissing the behinds of one faith. AND, a college was considering doing this at taxpayer's expense, because this is a public university. If they want to wash their feet, go home and wash them like everyone else. Taxpayers are not supposed to pay for anything of this nature. Separation of church and state, REMEMBER? So, unless they're going to kiss everybody's feet, then don't go there. I'm sick of people trynig to be so PC about everything, even at the expense of our own country's safety. You give a inch, they will take a mile. And you're right, Americans are muslims too, but just trying going to a mosk and see how welcomed you really are.
Heard the most fascinating story today at lunch. gottah share. sm
My best friend just returned from a trip back home by herself. There, she met up with her high school sweetheart - 20 years later. His mom and her mom are best friends and they were both there for a funeral. She cried her eyes out at lunch today. She learned while on her trip back home that the love of her life was divorced, has 3 kids - his wife left him for another man. My friend is married with 2 children. To make a long story short, my friend is a true lady. She told him all about her life here and he just listened. They were near water (a gorgeous beach) on the docks and it was just the 2 of them and he began saying things to her that made her so sad. He went on and on about how he never stopped loving her and would look at her and say, "you are just as gorgeous as you were back in high school." She said she would just laugh and tell him he was crazy. She said she saw him on and off during the trip because she "had" to. They have families that are very close. Every time he would see her he would give her a big hug and call her gorgeous. She said the night before she left they were on his mother's porch swinging, eating ice cream and he cried like a baby. She cried. Nothing inappropriate happened between them. She said it was a connection none like she had ever, ever experienced before. She said that he made her promise that if anything were to ever happen between she and her husband that she would come back and be with him. He promised that he would wait for her, even if she were 80 years old. My friend cried and cried. He cried and cried.
I cried and cried. I know this lady's husband. The have a good relationship. But she and I both know that we did not marry our soul mates. I don't even know where mine is (we broke up many moons ago), but I know he was the one for me. There was no infedelity to this story at all. I believe her. They lost contact when she went away to college, moved on, and that was it. She would talk about him periodically with me, but nothing real serious.
I don't know how many women (I sure haven't) met up with old flames or lost soul mates and have the experience she has. She is a Christian and says that if she didn't love Jesus, something would have happened between them. She was able to use her love of God to witness to this man (who isn't a Christian). She said that she wouldn't be able to live with herself if something happened between them and that his soul was more important to her than her selfish desires.
I commended her for that. I don't know how many women in her position would have been as strong. She cried so hard when she was telling me this story. Lunch lasted 4 hours!! I'm glad I was off today. Anyway, it just has me thinking about my ilfe, too, as a married mom and wife. My husband is the most unemotional, unaffectionate, doesn't-believe-in-soul mates-kind-of-guy. I can't talk with him about these kinds of things. I just wish he were mine OR I was with mine.......
I'm 47, and that's a trend I've seen all my life.
My mother and grandmothers, aunts, and their generation did the cooking, cleaning and sewing as a matter of course. They were taught to do these things, and they were expected to know how to do them, because in their day, most people couldn't hire help or afford to toss away their belongings for the least little imperfection. As someone else said, we have a disposable society.
I learned to do all those things, because the women in my family insisted that I know. They also insisted that the boys in the family know how to cook, clean and do basic sewing. My father also insisted that I know how to do basic car maintenance and home repairs, too. In his words, "No daughter of mine will have to wait on a man to get things done." He was very smart. I married an accountant, and while I haven't had to do a tax return or balance a checkbook in 25 years, I do fix the drippy faucets in the house! DH is a wonderful man but mechanically disinclined. My sons know how to cook, sew buttons, keep house, etc. I expect them to know these things. These are life skills. If at some point in their lives they can afford to have other people perform those tasks, great! It will stimulate the economy! But I'd hate for them to do it because they just didn't know how. Too many of my friends are working very long hours to afford to pay for all the simple things to keep up their home, cars and clothing. It seems that every business person in my neighborhood is paying to have their shirts laundered and ironed, for example. I love to iron! I think I should do that! I might make more money than MT!
:)
Yes, I've heard of it...sm
My former sister-in-law had told me this years ago if guys drink this a lot they can possibly become sterile. I'm not sure why, but it was at a party and we had Mountain Dew there and she had said that.
It seems like I've heard
of cases where there was sexual abuse suspected and the custodial parent STILL had to let the child go with the noncustodial parent/suspected perpetrator. And if they try to hide the child to protect him or her they get slapped with contempt of court. I think that really sucks and I hope it is not the norm. It sounds like people were more reasonable in your case.
this is what I've heard
I heard that they are shooting it down over the ocean. It's not that so much that bothers me, its the way the govt is so "flip" about it like its no big deal. I've heard other people say that they believe gvt is testing whether they can shoot down other things....feel stupid now that I can't think of all the "correct" wording, but all in all I just don't feel comfortable with it. I don't blame you for not trusting them. I must be in your generation. We have never received any information to "let" us trust them. I think its a coverup for something bigger going on though. I also think its odd that all of a sudden now we've got satellites falling from the sky???? yeah, right, sure we do...
That's the first I've heard of anything like that. nm

Just when you think you've heard everything...
...now we have shoplifters heaving babies at store detectives.
I'm not sure why anyone would try to use a baby as a missile. They can't be very aerodynamic. Of course, he might have been carrying a "nuclear payload", if you get my meaning.

One of those "..and throw away the key!" stories.
I've never heard
That the Lord provides for drunks and fools...I thought it was babies and fools! Perhaps though, your ex is a fool. Don't be jealous of his lifestyle, he is living in an artifical reality, an alcohol-induced Utopia that will no doubt come crashing down around him eventually.
A Christmas Story....it doesn't matter that I've seen it sm
a million times, I still love it. Have you seen the DVD with the interviews with several of the kids that are now grown up?
I've lived in Houston my whole life and I
love it. I like living in the city, although we actually live in the burbs, but close enough! I've never been to NY, but really want to go myself.
I've had cats all my life and agree
milk must not be all that great for them since mine always get diarrhea after drinking it. I wonder if they would be more tolerant of organic raw milk or goat's milk.
Now I've heard it all, your 4 year old?
Sorry, that's bordering on child abuse/neglect in my opinion! Poor *babies* :(
I've heard that theory before
I think it is very sad when a woman gives and gives all year long, tries to be thoughtful and generous for Christmas and probably every other gift-giving occasion, and gets no thanks at all. Maybe her DH put a lot of thought into the robe, but I doubt it.
It is about giving and not receiving and I agree with the poster below about how this holiday is really messed up. I think life is about giving, not just one holiday, but if there is such a holiday, then one should at least use that time to show his spouse that he appreciates her.
Just a little trinket from each kid that they picked out. For whatever the robe cost, he probably could have found something more personal... he does live with the woman.
I don't think the OP's post was about receiving. It was about giving. That's all she does.
I've also heard of dogs
tying right through a chain-link fence.
My dogs are fixed, thank goodness!
ROFLMAO!!!! Now I think I've heard everything!

I've only heard Will Ferrell
doing his version. I need to see that movie of his - I've just seen previews.
I've heard other people saying that, too
I don't have anyone playing sports this year, so didn't give it a thought, but I hope you're right and that the ratings aren't affected or that they change the night it is on.
I've gained a lot too but I have worked on having a social life (sm)
There is a website called Exercisefriends dot com where you can post for people in your area to walk with or whatever sport you like. I found a walking buddy like that and we are now best friends for the past few years now(she works at home too). But the part-time job is a good idea too - those jobs are fun even though you don't make much money.
I've always heard they didn't work for
breeds like huskies. We have a 6-foot privacy fence and tacked chicken wire to the bottom of that and buried it to prevent digging.
The other problem I've heard is, how will your dog react if another dog comes into his yard? Could he defend himself from another dog emboldened by the submissive-appearance he prevents due to the invisible fence? Or would another dog coming into his yard be in danger from him? What about neighbors' cats? It may not be the best idea in a lot of situations, but some people seem to be able to use them.
I've heard that the average lifespan...sm
For Siberian Huskies is 10-12 years, but that 13, 14, 15, even 16 or 17 years old isn't all that uncommon for the breed. Overall, they are a very healthy, hardy breed (at least they should be...) especially compared to some other breeds.
My husband loves Rotties, for example, and there's a terrible problem with bone cancer and other cancers in Rotties. There seems to be a genetic predisposition to it in the breed, and research is being done on that. We lost our second Rott at just 5 yrs old due to osteosarcoma in his front leg. After having the limb amputed, he did well for a few months, then the cancer came back. It was heartbreaking to lose him at such a young age. We lost our first Rottie to bone cancer too (in her hip), at 10 yrs old.
But with my Siberians, my first 2 (not related to each other in any way) lived to be very nearly 16 years old, and died basically due to old age, no cancer. I just lost my sweet old girl Alexx last month, on 01/10/2007. She would have been 16 yrs old on 04/02/2007. I still can't believe she's gone. I still walk into the kitchen expecting to see her there, napping.
My remaining Siberian is 12 years old and going strong, fiesty as ever, but he has had cancer. He had a major, en block resection a little over a year ago where the specialist took out a football-size area of his thorax, including a portion of 3 of his ribs(!). Talk about traumatic (for me, my dog did fine! LOL). It was a recurrence of a spindle cell sarcoma, first noted and removed (and much smaller) 3 years earlier. *Hopefully* it won't come back again in his lifetime.
I've used Frontline and Frontline Plus off and on over the years for fleas. We've never had ticks. And since moving to where we are now, not far from Palm Springs, our vet's office has said fleas and ticks aren't a problem here, so Frontline isn't necessary. I was skeptical about that at first. But so far they're right, and we haven't had to use anything for fleas or ticks, which is a nice surprise. I do worry about the fact that such strong chemicals are put right on their skin (and I would stay away from Hartz flea/tick products too, from what I've heard), but as far as it maybe causing cancer, I don't know.
BTW, my advice to all pet owners is to consider pet insurance. We use Veterinary Pet Insurance:
http://www.petinsurance.com/
I think it's worth it for the peace of mind alone, so you don't have to worry so much about the cost if your pet needs expensive vet care.
Have fun! I've heard it's an awesome show.
What a sweet nephew! But you know what they say, what goes around comes around so I'm sure he appreciates all you do as well. Have fun!
That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
A cat is a natural predator to those small mammals and birds and I don't see any of them going extinct because of cats.
I do agree that house cats should be kept inside, but only for their own protection and that's only my opinion. My cats stay inside exclusively.
I've heard they are good for homemade..
pizza because pizza has to cook in a 500+ oven. The stone helps when domestic ovens only go that high.
I'm no cook, that's the 'gist' of it, stones.
You can Google the info tho.
Ever watch Sam the Cooking Guy? He cracks me up.
I've heard it's Preparation H (too embarassed to buy it)

I've never heard that it prevents lice. That's a new one to me.
I always thought that children's shampoos were marketed saying that they didn't sting the eyes. I never found that to be true, however. Johnson's Baby Shampoo stings my eyes. Some contain detanglers, but I had boys who always had short hair, so that wasn't an issue for us. From the time they were babies until now, I've always bought whatever was on sale or least expensive. Most times, that turns out to be Suave.
I've heard of notereader scopist
Back in the early 1990s I took a course called Notereader Scopist. They read court reporter notes (those long skinny papers that looks like a cash receipt) and types them into documents. Not sure if that is the same thing. I had found the course through something called At Home Professions but just didn't finish it because it was too expensive. Unsure if this is what you are referring to. I do remember it was a blast learning.
I've heard a catfish scream, but never a frog

I've also heard about paint ball guns...
they shoot people walking or riding on the sidewalk/road. And those things HURT...what's up with the youth of today? Are they really that bored, I mean, they have sooo much more than we (most of us) did when we were growing up. Maybe that's the problem, they're spoiled...anyway, I do hope they get caught. Thank goodness for my good kids!
Isn't that a shame? But it's not just a recent thing. I've heard of it

I've heard in Calif they pull from both DMV and voting records

I've been running around all day - heard a bit on the radio, but 9 DEAD? Oh goodness. Lord,
help those families right now, God. And that entire city. I used to live there. Can't recall that mall, though. I used to go to 2. If anyone is in that area, I used to live in Bellevue (the Air Force Base there). Where was this mall in Omaha? thanks for any info.
What is the MOST outrageous thing you've seen/heard while working in the medical field?
While working in an oncology office I had a heartbreaking conversation with a newly-widowed young mother of 2. Apparently healthy husband suddenly turned up with a brain tumor, which killed him pretty quickly. The life insurance company did their due diligence and investigated the case, since the policy was issued only weeks before the diagnosis; but the patient had NO indications of illness at the time, and the medical records basically proved the negative; he hadn't been to a doctor because he wasn't sick.
In the course of discussing the point with the claims examiner, the widow told him it wasn't about the money (although she was going to need it to raise her 2 kids by herself). She'd FAR rather have her husband back. The claims examiner said he'd far rather have the woman's husband back too...
... wait for it ...
... because if he were still alive, he'd still be paying premiums to the insurance company!
Yes, it really happened.
I suggested the widow contact the state insurance commissioner's office and report the guy. Even if what he said/did was not precisely illegal, it was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.
I've heard good things and about things about taking prednisone. My mom was on it for SM
for awhile and it made her look so swollen. I sympathize with you.
I have a life, a great life at that. I just happen to include my canine family

If you've got one, you've got bunches!
How do ya feel about cats? That's what I'd do...get a cat...but I love cats and love it when they bring me 'presents' of dead varmints.
If that's not an option, and you're not comfortable with baiting, glue traps, or that sort of thing, it'd be worth it to hire a professional 'cridder ridder' or exterminator. Those things will chew up your walls and floorboards like you have no idea and cause incredible amounts of damage. Good luck in your jihad!
I've done this 12 yrs and I've had to take breaks sm
Took a break and worked at my kids preschool one year, worked at a hospital one year, took a couple months off once. It does burn you out because it takes all of your concentration. When I worked at the hospital as a secretary I could not believe how easy the job was ;-) I was sooo used to just getting paid for actual work that when I had a conversation with a coworker or a phone call or took lunch, I felt like I was getting away with a lot! I hope your break works out!! I wish you lived close-by, we could take turns watching each others kids ;-)
And I DO not believe her story, either
This day and time you can get outside help. She kept her eyes down all time while questioned. If in front of Judge Judy she would have to look the judge straight in the eyes. I think she should have gotten much more time, flimsy story, crocodile tears.
come on now...tell the whole story.
You decked her out, right? LOL. If you didn't, she is one lucky woman.
Do you believe this story
For the most part, she blames her actions on stress from her illness. I can (somewhat) see someone stealing to pay bills or to put money aside for savings, but not for a lavish wedding or cruises. GOFFSTOWN, N.H. -- A woman accused of stealing more than $1 million from her nonprofit employer said she used the money to pay for medical bills, vacations and her daughter's wedding. "My daughter was getting married; I wanted her to have a nice wedding," said Linda Bevins, who has colon and lung cancer. "I had nothing, it all went to cancer. I thought I was going to die. I wanted to have a good life. I wanted my husband to have peace of mind." Bevins was fired in June from her job as a payroll supervisor for the Crotched Mountain Foundation, which runs a disabilities rehabilitation center in Greenfield. She, her husband, and daughter now are being sued by the foundation. A criminal investigation is also going on. Bevins was diagnosed with colon cancer in 1999 and took a job as a payroll specialist with Crotched Mountain in 2001 to help pay her medical bills; she was promoted to supervisor a year later. She told the New Hampshire Sunday News she began taking money in 2004 after doctors told her the cancer had spread to her liver, and the prognosis was not good. Bevins said she's not certain how much money she took, but doesn't dispute Crotched Mountain's estimate of $1.3 million. She said at least $200,000 went to medical bills for her cancer treatments and another chunk paid for her daughter's wedding, which included a custom-made wedding dress. Bevins said she also took her family on two cruises and used stolen money to make donations to churches and other organizations. "It bothered me a lot because I was not the type of person to do that," Bevins said of the thefts. "I would get depressed that this was happening and I'd say 'I can't do this anymore.' But then something else would happen and all of a sudden I'm doing it." An audit commissioned by Crotched Mountain revealed allegations that Bevins issued payroll checks to her daughter, Holly Sears, and herself, and funneled foundation money into personal bank accounts. Bevins said biannual company audits didn't catch her scheme, nor did a co-worker who helped her with the payroll. Neither her daughter nor husband knew anything about the thefts, though she acknowledged that sometimes she asked Sears, 26, to cash checks for her, Bevins said. Bevins said she's ashamed of what she's done, but blames at least part of her actions on her former employer. As the only employee who could handle the payroll, Bevins said she was constantly on call, even while on vacation or sick leave. She said Crotched Mountain workers even called her cell phone while she was in the hospital, and nurses became so fed up by the they asked a doctor to put a stop to it. "If I didn't have the stress, maybe I wouldn't have gotten sick and wouldn't have had the bills and maybe (the stealing) wouldn't have ever started," she said.
My story...{sm}
I understand. One time on our way home while on vacation, I was driving through the mountains in Colorado, and I was driving about 50 or 55 mph. I am not used to driving in the mountains - I'm a flatlander. My husband got mad at me because I wasn't driving fast enough! I told him that this is the speed I felt comfortable at. He told me that someone was going to run into us from behind because I was going so slow. At the next town we came to, I pulled into a restaurant and told him I wasn't going to drive anymore. He said that one of us was going to take the bus home from there. Well, that didn't happen, but it sure was quiet the rest of the trip.
