days. I have them off. I make it CLEAR that those 2 days a year are MINE WITH MY FAMILY. They are THE ONLY 2 days a year that I am with my entire family. I am available every single day other than that.
Now, speaking as a manager who has also been an MT, there are different situations in every MT's life and there are always situations where there are MTs without families who would prefer to work. I do NOT think it should be mandatory to cover those days but a good manager would ask for volunteers to cover those days WAY AHEAD OF TIME to be sure the time is covered.
I have never had a problem getting someone to volunteer those days. I am **on call by phone** on those days if needed, but not actively working. I can be with my family with assurance that I can enjoy those family days.

and once I figured out she was the whole problem with our office and those above her liked her that way, I got out.
She could not be trusted to do the right thing because all she cared about was how she looked, not on how well everybody was working together and providing care for patients. I could not believe how disrespectfully she talked to people to get them to fear her so they would obey her and she could feel important.
That kind of person is a nightmare to deal with.
I can't imagine being married to her. If I witnessed her husband pushing her off a cliff, I think I'd tell the police she fell, LOL.

I had perfectly. You can start doubting your own sanity when you're under a person like that, because they often are VERY sneaky with their techniques.

out the food that would go bad so it was allowed. They were also allowed to order food to bring home that they paid for themselves, such as single serving pizzas. This was also many years ago, i'm sure things may be different by now, depending on the people in charge.

or totally forgot what it's like to be new. We've all been there. You just happened to have quite the "understanding" and "encouraging" manager. (Might we suggest a few managerial people skills??) It's a million times better to relisten and ask questions than type lots of junk! Puh-leez!!!
My husband was a co-manager at
a store, and when a juvenile would be caught shoplifting, they would be taken to the store office and talked to, and depending on his impressions, he would often tell the teenager that he was going to have to call his or her parents. The kids were usually HORRIFIED and would ask if he wouldn't call the police instead. The parents were always very relieved that he handled it the way he did. That's why I said that.
One kid stole Visine. My husband had to break the news that it probably meant the child was smoking marijuana and trying to hide his bloodshot eyes with Visine. That was one sad boy!
The salesman/job manager promised much more
than his workers could deliver. For one thing, the bottom of the cabinets wasn't straight. It had never been noticed with the old cabinets, but apparently the line wasn't perfect with the original cabinets, and the installers didn't handle the problem correctly with their work, and the line came out all choppy or something. They didn't speak English, so without the job manager there constantly, the workers just kept plugging away instead of stopping to get instructions when problems came up. They left unfinished edges in certain places. Dad had to have certain things redone. I don't know all the details, but my perfectionist older sister saw the work when they first finished and she was livid. I think Sears overcharges anyway.
You think that is bad, one time I had a manager of a Pathmark
throw her clipboard at me and hit me in the head! They had a sign up stating if more than 3 people are in line we will open another register. Well, they didn't, and I went to the courtesy desk to ask for the manager.
She told me they didn't have the staff. I said, then you should take down the sign. She said she could not do that. I said, well, then what about YOU getting on a register, you don't seem to be all that busy.
I guess I hit a nerve but how shocking. Obviously she was nuts.
And I am so stupid because I didn't even call the cops and I should have, probably could have owned part of Pathmark ;)

Who came up and asked if I needed helpshopping. I said, "no, why?" He said are you feeling okay, we can get someone to help you shop. People stopped and were staring. I had my baby in a stroller in front of me and I just took the things I was going to buy out and put them on the shelf and said, "no thanks, I'm leaving." Got to my car and realized I had glitter from some Christmas decorations I had been looking at all over my face! I had been sick and had just ventured back out so I was looking weak and pale and glittery! I didn't go back in that store for over a year!
An office manager earlier in my career...
... those of you who have been around long enough will know the type... the polyester queen who'd started with the doctor when he opened his practice in 1951, and she used to work until 11 o'clock every night, keeping things caught up, but never put in for OT pay, and because she had done it, she expected the rest of us to do it too.... Labor laws? We don't need no stinkin' labor laws.... (No, we didn't stay one minute past closing time. We didn't let her guilt us into it.)
When I started at the job, I was promised a raise in a certain amount after 3 months. I got half the amount, and I was too chicken to raise a stink. Later, my finances got so tight, I went to her to tell her if I didn't get a raise, I was going to lose my apartment and have to move back in with my parents. She claimed she asked the doctors, came back, and told me I'd have to move back home. I later found out she never asked the doctors--and that if she had, they'd have granted the raise. Grrrrr.....
My desk was right next to hers, and if my typewriter was silent for more than 5 seconds she'd look over and comment on the fact that I wasn't working. Nevermind that I was looking something up in the Dorland's at the time....
Many, many years later, I somehow wound up next to her at a retirement party for one of the doctors. She too had long since retired, and I too had moved on, but they invited back any and all of the old staff they could find. By the end of the luncheon I was wondering how on EARTH I sat next to that witch with a capital B for 3 long years and didn't KILL her. Because she was still at it--picked on every single thing I did, including the fact that I ordered steak, because steak isn't for lunch, it's for dinner, and that if you can't afford to pay cash in full for a car, you are not to buy the car, you are to ride the bus to work until you have saved up the full cash price of the car. Then she grabbed my hand and screeched, "Do you bite your nails?"
Come to think of it... it was during that era that I started getting really, really cranky............... :)

When I did this type of thing in addition to clinical duties, I knew from common sense that the doc could only see X amount of people, depending on if they were new patients, involved visits with procedures, etc, and planned accordingly. The doctors want to pack the schedule to make more money, and the "girls" (How I hated being called that "my girl") had to go along with it in many cases. But when I was office manager, I made sure I spaced accordingly, because guess who got to leave the office as soon as the last patient (the doctor), and guess who got to clean up examining rooms, clear up doctor's desk, answer all nonessential phone calls for them, close down the office, etc....me! The one making chump change.

I TRIED to work, WANTED to work, but
So now I have to scramble for the rest of the week, trying to catch up on what I didn't do today. And of course, working today was in hopes of catching up on whatI didn't do last week. This job is a never-ending hamster-wheel of lunacy.

Normally in this industry, you are paid an incentive to work "holidays". When I was in-house, I was offered a day off other than the holiday I worked, which was great. I was also offered to only work a 4 hour day, in-house. At home, you should also be given an incentive for those holidays! Some people think that Martin Luther King Day is more important than Christmas because they may celebrate Kwanzaa. Some people feel that April Fool's Day is important, so they are willing to work Easter. It goes on and on... There will be times in your life when you have to make a choice, "one day off" or a career in the "medical field". I would have to agree that we are important especially on those holidays. For example, most hospitals and emergent care units are staffed with one doctor, so it should really be only STATs you are typing. It is hard to "choose" when you want to be "sick". Hence, our salary!!!!!!! Most people will work all kinds of crazy schedules to accomodate their own lives, so why be so uptight about working Christmas because your employer requires coverage. On the other hand, this should be rotated amongst a pool of typists. I worked with a lady that would always volunteer for Thanksgiving (she had no family), so she could have Christmas off just to make us all mad! She'd say "well, I've worked the last 10 Thanksgivings, so I deserve Christmas off! It was so sad! Hmmmpphh! :) Good luck! Have a nice holiday (no matter how you spend it)!

and everything came back negative. I'm going to push him more on Tuesday when I call him. I like our vet a lot-have been using him for years with all of my dogs and so far he hasn't steered me wrong. I'm just not sure I want to wait much longer on getting him some medication. The poor little guy suffers so and it just scares the heck out of us. I mean, there isn't anything we can do but hold him and ride it out and just be there when he comes out of it. I just haven't had to deal with anything like this before.

For people who want to learn about something, anything, Google is a great tool. If you want to get into semantics about it though, personally I have real-life, first-hand experience with these critters called OTTBs. That stands for off-track thoroughbreds. They live until their late 20's and sometimes into their 30's and that is rarely taken into consideration by the racing industry, who I feel should kick in a little cash at birth, for every single horse they register with Jockey Club, to ensure that these animals can be cared for, for the rest of their lives. Oh wait...that would put a crimp in the breeders bottom line though, wouldn't it.

No, not every day and get this- I only work
part-time. She is always available when I want her to come over, can stay the night if I am working later, whenever I want her. You are probably going to start throwing rocks but my pay to her is anywhere from 50-75 dollars a day, depending on what she does, any extra things I have her do like cleaning the closets, putting up seasonal clothes, other than the regular clothes washing and the house cleaning (she does not iron on a regular basis but if I need something special, she would do that)- she used to cook for us but my hubby does that now. I DO NOT want to quit even my part time position- heck my husband might think I had the time to do housework too and ugh!!

It might work
to cover the parts of the couch they are scratching because cats tend to return to the same spot. If you cover the couch completely, they may go under the cover unless it's secured. If you prefer the cats stay completely off the couch, you could use Scat Mats. They give a little shock from a battery when touched.
Good luck. I've declawed cats before to save the furniture, and they never have the same muscle strength in their upper body after they lose the claws. I've switched to dogs because dogs listen, LOL.

operation she does not like doing, says it leaves horrible scars. She does them but shows many before/after pics and actually has the patient talk to others that have had it done before she will do it for them. They go into it with their eyes wide open. So if you do get it re-done be prepared (that is if a Dr. will re-do you anyway).
How did that work
with insurance? I have one in my left armpit that really bugs me because it is so visible when I wear sleevless tops. My doctor told me that insurance would not cover removing it because it would be cosmetic purposes.
They do work, but -
You have to keep replacing them when their nails grow, or sometimes they just come off. I have all mine trained now not to touch the furniture. In fact, in the 25 years I have had cats I have never had a problem with my furniture being ruined (and I even have leather). I have scratching pads (both upright and the ones in the track ball cirle) that I keep supplied with fresh catnip that I grow myself. The cats LOVE it! They want to show me they are using the designated scratching areas because I always praise them when they do. Now, you need to put them in high traffic areas, not squirreled away some place your cats never go. Put them near the furniture, covered with fresh catnip. Then slowly transition the posts to another location, but put it some place the cats can easily get to. I bet it will work. Best of luck to you! :-)

I do dearly love this cat and would rather move some place without carpet than get rid of him. The vet says that Maine Coon cats are supposed to be the easiest cat to train, so maybe it would be a matter of putting him in the crate at night until he got used to not having the food?

I wish that would work, but
my bank is merging with another bank this week, and they have gotten really strict about not crediting anything to your account after 2 p.m., even through the ATM. Until this week, I could make a deposit through the ATM until 8 p.m. and it was posted the same day. I did a "test" deposit this past Monday after 2 to see if I could trick the account, but it didn't work. I hate bank mergers.
I need overdraft, but I can't do anything about it today. All the offices were closed by the time I realized I was one penny short.

Maybe they were getting work done
in the house and moved furniture out for that. Something like getting floors refinished. I worked with a girl who burned down her boyfriend's house because she locked it up tightly after they were working on it. The fumes filled the house and ignited from water heater or something. Besides I think insurance company would notice if there was no burnt furniture in the house.
I used to go to work at 5 but now
in my older years sleep until I wake, part timer, work 12-8 and absolutely love it, so much more energy than when I had to beat the keys 24/7.
Well, that might work for others however
I have the bird feeder sitting in front of my window where I work so I (as well as the furkids) can watch the birds- the squirrels get in a bush next to the feeder and make a flying leap. They don’t fool with going from the bottom up. By the way I feed all animals, be they birds or squirrels so doesnt really matter to me who is eating at what time.

Next time they show up unexpectedly, you and your husband hurriedly take off all your clothes and put on a robe, mess up your hair and answer the door like that. Then say, oh, sorry, we were just in the middle of something, now is not a good time. Just might work.........

This will never work out this way-
that being your husband not backing you in what you need. I had g'children living with us for awhile and I told my husband (his g'children actually) then that even though we were not the parents, we had to work together as a unit because if not the child(ren) know the weaknesses and they will use them to get their way. Getting rid of my problem probably would not be helpful to you- I had the older girl leave (she had other g'parents in the city) and eventually the other 2 left. What a headache and I know the feelings about being made out to be the wicked person in this situation. I have lived that.

I work for the Q, too, though not for
long for the exact reason you mentioned - not making much money. We're also building a house, signed our contract yesterday. The price of lumbar may be down, but that must be about it. It costs almost double to build a house than it did 10 years ago. At any rate, I think you're right - he may be seeing it as rejection when you leave. Try talking to him when he's not upset and let him know you're going to be his partner for life, so he may as well clue in on things now.

Her Myspace is a personal page that is meant for her friends not her kids or clients. I know plenty of people that work with children, and it really doesn't matter what they do outside of work...as long as they're not doing it in front of the kids or telling them/you about it. She should have her profile set to private though, and then there wouldn't even be a question as you wouldn't see them.
Well I now work outside, and our
weather has also been 100 in the shade for 6 days in a row. Unfortunately I can't stay in the shade. Thankfully I had the weekend off, but it was 100 or more degrees today. Apparently a cold front is coming through and it may only get to 98 tomorrow. Up until this it had been the perfect spring. I think I'm the only person wearing sunglasses, and even when I have them on I keep thinking I need sunglasses.
