The gas alone will cost her probably that much and when you deduct that from the $15 a trip it would hardly be worth her time unless she was desperate. Maybe any teenagers around that wouldn't mind doing that before/after school? I used to clean and I would not waste my time for $15 a day minus gas prices.

Good luck but I doubt you will find a lawyer sm
First of all, I am glad that your sister knows the truth and is not dying. Unfortunately I know from experience what it is like for a loved one to be given a misdiagnosis death sentence. My father-in-law went in the hospital almost 2 years ago with trouble swallowing and ended up getting referred to an ENT that sent him over to a neurologist. He did an EMG/NCS on his tongue, said he had ALS, and to prepare within 6 months to make a decision on being on a ventilator or being DNR. He had to quit working early & be fed through a PEG for over a year, during which time I took him to a different neurologist, a specialist in motor neuron diseases, who said that EMGs performed on the tongue are unreliable and that he had no evidence of ALS at all. Basically what had happened is that his vocal cord was not working properly, and the ENT said it was paralyzed, which is was not. Because the first neurologist just assumed the ENT was correct, he made the diagnosis. I tried calling a few lawyers for the pain and suffering aspect, but unless you want to try through civil court, there is no malpractice involved because there was no permanent physical damage done. They're lucky he didn't follow through with the suicidal thoughts he was having when he was first told all of this bullcr@p.
Cost about $750 my cost, with insurance.

Find a lawyer, find out where you would stand - sm
in the event of a divorce/separation, regarding custody, house, etc. Custody was my main concern as well since I lied on numerous occasions about the finances. Where I am I was told that would not factor in to the custody at all. I can prove that I am my kids caregiver 90% of the time, I ferry they around everywhere, help with homework, get ready for school, meet at busstop, etc. I could also point out my husband is an alcoholic, self treats his depression with alcohol instead of getting proper medical treatment, has threatend to kill himself (or me) numerous times (though he always says he was joking and did not mean it.....that is his standard answer to everything, or that he never said that). Now I do love him enough to deal with all that because deep down inside my DH is full of it, luckily for me, he has never followed through on anything he says he is going to do. But I thought my confession would be the straw that broke it all and send him over the edge. He still is angry with me, I am sure he will be for a long time, but is keeping it together pretty well, though he has said the stress was going to kill him, now he know how I felt I guess. I am sorry your husband is such a smuck. I feel like a dog sometimes with the sex demands, have to do it the night before he goes out of town....he will be traveling a lot for work for the next 3-4 months, which I am more than glad about, much calmer here then, though it gets tiring for me but as he is not really helping much right now it really won't be much of a change. As for yours going on 5 day weekends.....have you considered having him followed, sounds like there may be some infidelity afoot, and if so that would strengthen your case in the event of a divorce and custody I would think. Sounds a bit fishy going out until 1 a.m. and his frequent trips. My DH fishes too, but he goes 2 miles from here with one of our male neighbors, they shoot the breeze and he gets to unwind some which I encourage. Very rare weekends with a buddy of his, I am talking once every 2 years, which again is fine with me. Start keeping track of all you do, when he is home, where he supposedly goes, with whom, etc. He cannot show he will be a responsible dad if he is never there or never interacts with his own kids. My DH would probably suggest I take our older daughter and he the younger, spliting them up, he has the same perception, the oldest is mine, the youngest is his. Our younger daughter is much easier to deal with, our older daughter drives him nuts and she is only 10. My younger one (8) knows something has been going one though, and worries we will divorce, which she does not want. She is very perceptive for her years. I hope that if you do go the divorce route, which would actually probably be best in your situation, that it all works out for you and you get your fair share of assets, etc. Make sure before you do anything like that you have all your ducks in a row, so talk to divorce lawyer. I talked to one for 45 minutes, cost me $160 but was worth it to set my mind at ease. Good luck.
You know it does not cost too much
to have your hearing checked. That probably would be a good idea for you.
I don't doubt that there are
people like your first husband who simply choose to live that way, but the majority do not choose it and do not enjoy it. It is a miserable feeling.
I do give money to people that I think are truly down and out- but I just try to differentiate between them and the professional panhandlers. I see guys out in the medians of roads or on freeway ramps with signs and some of these guys are dressed better than me. Those people I suspect are scamming and I do not give money then. But I don't want to withhold help from someone who really does need it because I have been there and it was the loneliest most miserable thing I have ever been through.
That's possible, but I really doubt it
The woman she is dealing with is irrational and has serious issues. Confronting her could lead to a big emotional blowup that would leave the OP feeling even worse.
When you are talking about rational people who are able to deal with their problems calmly and with some degree of objectivity, then discussing problems is an excellent idea.
But believe me - I have been there when it comes to dealing with people who refuse to face their own problems. I definitely came out of that situation feeling much worse than when I went in, even though I remained calm, softspoken, and rational during the entire conversation.
I think the OP should use her own judgment in deciding whether it is worth it to confront the woman over this. Sometimes it's better just to close the door, literally and metaphorically, rather than try to get "closure" through confrontation.

I have no doubt
That if this was the only thing I had going on right now I could make over 400 a week too. And I mentioned in passing the patient who came in on a Sunday as a joke, like we MTs often do. I have plenty of patience, I promise.
I never blamed the professions fault, but yes, the profession is partly to blame. Offshoring, ever decreasing cpls, and unethical MTSOs greatly contribute to the declining pay scale of the medical transcription profession. That is one of the reasons I am getting out of it. But the main reason is because I originally began school to become a psychologist, and I want to finish that.
As for the patient with the rash that came in on Sunday, guess what? They were told to go see their primary care physician on Monday.

Cost of fence??
Hi. My husband and I are getting ready to buy our first house and would like to know the approximate cost of getting a 6 ft privacy fence. We have absolutely no idea how much something like this costs :) Our new backyard is 85 x 110. I know the cost can vary, but can you please just give us an estimate if we had someone build it and also if we just bought the supplies and did it ourselves? Thanks for any info!
cost of fence
My hubby is a carpenter as is son. They buy their supplies for fencing through Home Depot or Lowe's or any building supply. I would go on line and Google fences, how to build and that should bring up some sites for building a fence, as to what supplies wood versus vinyl. The cost depends on where you live, as some areas are more expensive than others. I know you can buy directions on web sites on line, as I just ordered a design for a pergola my son is going to build for my daughter. You have to measure where your fence will be, then go to a store or on line. There should be someone at Home Depot or Lowe's or lumbar supply place who can help you. Also, having a company install a fence is much more expensive than doing it yourself. I know this well as my husband and son have put up a few fences. Hope this helps.
yeah, but she did not like the $400 cost with those..nm

$20,000 is less than most cars cost
You should have no problem getting a home loan for that amount ANYWHERE. They will probably try to jack up the interest rate because of your bad credit score, but don't let them. Bargain with them and if they won't deal, tell them you'll go to the bank next door. Get them down to 6.5% or less if you can.
Good luck!
$9K??? love to know what they did that cost - sm
that much, holy cow! As for handing the bill to you, that is really odd, I have never heard of that. The bills always go to the insurance company, unless they do not have insurance then I can see it being handed to you as you could give a bogus address, etc, but you can still just not pay the bill. Still $1800 an hour for treatment, crazy. I think the births of my kids were less than that and I was in for 4 days with one and 1.5 with the other. No wonder insurance is so high!
hair cost sm
I was told years ago that the markup is ridiculous by someone who took a beautician course.. I found a good girl, shopped around, could not believe what WALMART (just stopped by to qestion in person) is charging for simple highlights and cut, even the local Regis Salons which also includes Supercuts, etc., are getting a hundred bucks or more. So what I did was establish an agreement with a girl who rents space nearby and she is excellent. She has been charging me $65 for color, cut and blow dry and style. So today I gave her a very generous Christmas tip and she tried to give it back to me. I told her I so appreciated what she does for me all year and she started to cry and gave me a hug. I told her I was aware of what others charged and I knew she gave me a break all year. Everyone won, nobody lost. Shop around, the markup is ridiculous. Corporate wins, not the stylist (much like our profession). Just find someone you can trust and develop a relationship with and give them a little extra once in awhile. I am very glad I did this,I had a great day and I feel wonderful and so does my stylist. It can be done, be an educated consumer. Don't fall for the high prices, what costs them a few bucks turns into literally hundreds when it comes to highlight or color and cut! Shop around.
cost of hair
In defense of the cosmetology profession, I have to add that one never knows how much money and time the big stylists put into their business. My oldest son spends $10,000.00 a month in overhead, salaries, rent, seminars, etc. He stays current on everything, is a certified colorist, etc. They earn every penny they get - I had no idea until he filled me in. By the way, he lives too far away to make it worth my while to go get a haircut every 5 weeks, so I still go to local girl. $12.00 - she is way too cheap. Please don't bash them if you do not know the inside of the business. Anyway, Merry Christmas! Everyone tip your stylist - if it is a man, bake him something - he'll love you forever!!
The cost of Nutrisystem
is fairly reasonable in my eyes. However, I am financially able to stay on it, where I know there are others who cannot. It costs approximately $270.00 a month, and then you still have to buy your veggies, dairy products, and fruits. It is based on the glycemic index, where you eat good carbs. Most of the time I do not have a problem with being really hungry; however, there are times when I am. I am going to be 50 years old and have undergone a partial hysterectomy but I wonder if I still do not have some PMS symptoms and this is when I am the most hungry. I read up on Curvelle and it sounds pretty safe and it appears to work. I read some of the testimonies, etc. I might try it and see how it works.
The cost of groceries - WOW!!
I nearly had a stroke at the register today. Eggs here in AL are, get this, $3.49 where I am, but you can get 50 cents off by being a store member, which I am. That is still 2.99 a dozen - good grief! Sweet potatoes were $2.51 a pound, outrageous! Normally I do not look a whole lot at prices and just buy what I like, but these prices are even making me look! Gas just went up to $3.35 a gallon here. They are saying $4.00 by summer.
During her interview, it was said it cost...sm
100k total for all the in vitro procedures. I have not heard an answer as to how she paid for all this. Does any one know?
I wish my house had cost that, or
I consider that I got a deal on my house, but it was not that kind of a deal, and I did not buy it at an auction. Although the value of my home has decreased due to the current housing market in my region, it is still valued at more than I paid for it. It was a good investment for me.
I simply worked (a lot) and sacrificed in other areas so I could pay off my house. That was my goal, and I am glad I was able to achieve it.
I do not flip houses. I have friends who do, and I have worked for them and/or with them on some projects. Working with experienced renovators is a great way to learn how to do home repairs and a painless way to figure out what you will be able to do yourself and what to let the experts handle. Of course, it does not hurt to know the experts in question if you ever get in a bind.

We will give him credit. At least he was honest and said he wanted to be sure and is still accepting matches. To me? I would feel like a doormat. Hey, if I'm not good enough for you and you're still out there fishing, then do it without me. That's not saying someone has to be exclusive in their dating, but in this day and age, there are too many love diseases to be spread, I wouldn't want to be a part of that.
It sounds like you're good enough for now, but if something better comes along, he'll be dropping you like a hot potato. I'd be moving on.

But thank you for your suggestion.
I highly doubt it
I have no clue how that is even possible. I really don't think that you can. You might want to ask Verizon, though.
They will take you to court, without doubt.
It isn't too little for them. If they have evidence you owe that debt, then they have legal recourse to collect.
If it goes to court, you will get a judgement against you. It will go on your credit record and they can also garnish wages to receive their money. They may be entitled to other collection means.
It won't matter whether you send a cease and desist letter -- it is a debt you legally owe. You need to call them immediately and discuss your concerns over the legitimacy of the claim. Never, ever avoid them - it will just cost you more in the long run.
I would give it all to him. No doubt about it. nm

I doubt that anything has happened (yet)
The fact that she wrote the nice thank-you note shows that she assumed that you also knew about the gift. There is a good chance that your husband was just trying to be nice and generous to a girl down on her luck, but the fact that he hid it from you shows that he knew you wouldn't approve.
While there probably is nothing between them, the feelings he has for her are dangerous and could easily lead to something happening between them. I think you're right to ask him to end their relationship now, even though at the moment it is only platonic. He will probably think you're ridiculous, but I would strongly suggest it to him and, if he insists he doesn't want that, then the other alternative would be that you make your appointments together.

$75 would be a bargain here - mine cost $250! - sm
But it was done in the pet hospital, which sits on some pricey real-estate right in the middle of town. STILL... considering the total bill came to over $5,000 --- you would think they could at least cough up the euthanasia for free.
Anyway, that was a year ago and I'm STILL paying it off.
Were you unaware of cost before she applied?

we won't be able to afford to buy ANYTHING at the market, even if we could get there.
Meanwhile, the US is working on sending men to Mars while our whole infrastructure is crumbling. Sure hope the economy is better up there.
So correct....*Free* always comes with a cost....
If everyone who wants this fabulous free healthcare would just do a little research they would find out it is not such a great thing. We have several friends in Canada who hate the healthcare system. Canada faces a shortage of docs because they come to the US for better training and the potential for more money and practice here instead. People, do your research, don't believe everything you hear from someone who just wants your vote.
dogs still cost money...
First im sorry about your dog! I adopted both my pups... like someone mentioned below, found them on petfinder.com actually! Now I have been away from them for a few months (they are staying home with family while i moved for a few months) and i am SOOOO lonely. i seriously have crying spells i miss them so much (that sounds so dumb to some people, but they truly are like my kids)...
My headline is just simply put because you said you didnt have a lot of money to get another dog... as you know dogs still cost money, not just the fee to adopt them or buy them (please adopt!).... you obviously know this as you've had one, just wanted to make sure!
Good luck in your search it sounds like you will be a great mommy!
Cost of tooth extraction
How much does a tooth extraction cost? I have no dental insurance so will be paying out of pocket. I am pregnant and since being pregnant this toothache has gotten worse and worse. I am to the point now that I can't take the pain anymore. Also does anyone know if you call a dentist and tell them you are in pain if they will work you in asap? Thanks.....I just never knew that a toothache would be so painful.
wire transfers cost $$
I'd hold off on the wire transfer - they typically charge $25 per transfer for that.
Depending on your bank, they may have an option to add an account that is from an outside institution so you can transfer back and forth. I had an account with Bank of American before they finally horked me off for good, and I was able to add my account with the credit union. It was a $3.00 fee to transfer in between banks, and it took about 3 days, but it's cheaper than a wire transfer (unless your bank offers an option to do those for free.) I was able to set everything up using the online banking system. It took a couple of days for the set up because they have to verify the new account, but it was worth it. Before I dumped them, anyway.
I doubt homeowners would cover this, but
to do? How would the carpet store fix this? Just wondering....
I have no doubt that some drugs are worthwhile
but don't you ever type a list of meds a mile long and wonder how the poor patient (especially someone elderly) is still standing upright? Sometimes that makes me absolutely crazy. I think there is absolute validity in natural cures and I think the medical community or government or whomever is too quick to push yet another drug - or in this case, a vaccine - on the population without knowing exactly what the side effects will be.
I strained my lower back 3 weeks ago. My mother immediately assumed I was going to need surgery, friends insisted I needed drugs. I went to my chirpractor. It took several visits, but I am now pain free. Totally, 100% natural. (I didn't add this to start another whole debate, but just to make my point that there are alternatives.)

I know very little about diabetes, but my vision is definitely deteriorating. I had wondered why the nurse specifically asked me if I was a diabetic. I also know that I have a great chance of developing diabetes once my pancreas is completely destroyed. All I know is the last set of labs I had were very good. I see my doctor again on July 22, and I will definitely mention this to him.
I took Wellbutrin almost 10 years ago to try to help quit smoking. It gave me tremors of the hands so badly that I couldn't type. So I stopped taking it. I'm on a mess of medicines (most of them, gratefully, provided by the manufacturers' patient assistance programs.) A couple months ago, I started Abilify, didn't seem to have any problems.
As far as the problem with staggering, mine came out of the blue, as well. I was somehow thinking they might be related, but after your comment about diabetes, I'm going to do more research on diabetes because it's a disease that I know absolutely nothing about.
Thanks so much for your post and your input. I'm feeling like "Columbo" trying to figure out a mystery, and I appreciate any input I can get.
Hope you have a great weekend.
I agree that a gift should come from the heart and cost
shouldn't matter. However, to me, a gift is not what YOU want to buy, it should be what the other person would want to receive (within your budget, of course). Somebody else might not like what I want to buy.
