is the coolest name for a kitty.

I'm glad he is on the road to recovery.

Here is Gary!

Here is a picture of my new kitten, Gary.  It is hard to see in this photo, but it looks like someone took a magic marker and drew a black heart on his nose.  He is still not 100% but is feeling a little better each and every day.  Thanks again for all your advice and good wishes.

This is my first time posting a picture, so I hope it works.

Gary is so precious!

Do you get his name from Spongebob's "cat" (Gary the snail)?

I have 3 precious ones myself, all rescues, 2 Siamese mutts and a Maine Coon mutt!!  Love my boo-boos!

Sorry, this was supposed to be for Gary, but

your kitties are precious, too!!  Aren't they all just messes?  Gotta love 'em!

Need advice on our new kitty Gary.
We just adopted a kitten from our local shelter. The first day we brought him home, he was feisty and extremely playful. As instructed, we took him to the vet yesterday day for an exam and vaccinations. Ever since returning from the vet, Gary has been sneezing and sniffling and is very lethargic. He did had a good appetite up until this evening, but now he has no interest in food whatsoever. All he wants to do is sleep. If he continues to refuse food, we will definitely take him to the vet for antibiotics. In the meantime, is there anything I can do to make Gary more comfortable?

It makes me feel horrible that I took a happy, healthy kitten to the vet, and now I have a sick kitten.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't read all the pre posts to this, but I am a major kitty lover with 14 of my own. I hate to hear of a sick kitty.

"Cat flu" or whatever seems to go around from time to time can be very scary. Remember when he is back on his feet that the illness has taken a toll, and he still needs support. Fresh food is the best gift you can give him, next to love of course. The best commercial diet you can possibly afford (cheaper in the long run), and do look into homemade feline diets. My soulmate kitty died last year at the age of 23-1/4 years. He ate about 50% raw diet all his life, the rest Iams, Wellness and a couple of other serious natural brands. Look into pelletized horse bedding for litter. Nearly exact match for Feline Pine, VERY inexpensive, and kitty won't lick it off and clog his tummy (as with clumping litters). No odor, compostable and cats love it. Good luck! Hope you have a long and happy life together.

These guys are just some imposters that eat and live at my house (4 in all) ....LOL
Update on Gary the sick kitty.
I took Gary to the vet today, and he was running a fever of 105 degrees. The vet gave him a bolus of subcutanous fluids, a shot of antibiotics, and Clavamox for us to give him twice a day at home. If Gary's fever had been any higher, he would have required hospitalization. Fortunately, we were able to bring him home.

The doctor recommended steaming up a bathroom with either some eucalyptus oil or Vick's Vapor Rub in the water to help Gary's decongestion. He thinks that Gary will be back to his feisty, playful self in just a few days.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and suggestions! Gary is on the road to recovery now, and soon we can begin enjoying our lives together chasing fake mice.
