mine already have me like that. Did not take long. That was a really cute quote! I call them my furkids, 3 of those babies. Hubby asking me how old they have to be before I quit calling them babies- the answer is never!

I have 3 cats and don't know which 1 of my furkids is trying to claw my leather couch but I need to know if any of you have a similar problem and how do you handle if you don't catch the "rat." Any treatment I can do for the couch? It is not scratched all the way through, just see where the scratches are. Thanks.
I really love my cats but.....
My youngest girlcat is approximately 5 months old and she is the worst of the felines I have ever had. I had done everything I know to keep her from getting on the counters, the tables, just running wild but now here comes Christmas. I want to have a tree- am having the family dinner this year. Any suggestions (other than not having a tree) for keeping kitty out of the branches, trees, ornaments, anything at all? I have tried water, yelling, double sided tape, a good feline a** whipping, well not that good because she is a baby but please- anyone??
I love these cats of mine but need some help
They are clawing my 2 leather couches. I today put down some sticky side up tape and hoping maybe after they touch that it will tell them NOT to do that again but does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks.

to put their claws in that. It is an outdoor mat, but we have it inside. You have to give your cats something they like more than furniture. If you have anything wicker, put that on floor level for them.
You could go and have vet cut the claws some, but they grow back fast.

I don't think I will be able to have a cat for at least 10 years. He's on shots but I don't know if he will able to tolerate them. He went over to a friends's house last night that had cats and he didn't have hives but they made him sneezy/sniffly.

She leaves it on, and her two cats sit there watching it. I thought she was just getting a little kooky when she told me, but it is true.

OMG! I had no idea Paws acted like that. I have never dealt with them and had always been lead to believe they were a good organization. Our local Humane Society is not much better. My 90-year-old grandmother began feeding the stray cats near her home and the numbers continued to grow until it got out of control. She called the Humane Society for help and they read her the riot act! She was saving lives! I called a member on the board, who made excuses for the person who was so rude. Eventually they came and rescued all the cats they could trap, but it was not an easy task. It is so sad that these organizations do not help in these situations! Unreal.
Let me tell you about my dealings with Paws...
Found a stray mamma dog out of state trying to find food in a grocery parking lot. I went and bought 4 big cans of food for the dog and food for my cats back home. The dog ate it all and some of the other food. Got home, called several places in Chattanooga asking could they please check on her and find her puppies, not to leave them. I was told to call Paws there- did and I told the woman my heart was breaking having to leave the dog. She said MINES NOT and hung the phone up on me. I was shocked!!!

I moved recently, and we brought my daughter's cat with us. There was no way we could do anything else with him. He is an older cat, and they have grown up together. We moved into a beautiful home, but there was no way I could bring myself to declaw him, especially at his age. It just wasn't an option. So, we researched what we could do for him, and we opted to "try" the Soft Paws. Well, they have been a godsend for us.
Some advice - you do have to clip their nails before putting the paws on, so you need a good clippers and need to be very careful for the vein that runs through the claw. If you are not comfortable trimming their nails, of course you could get it done professionally. The plastic covers slip on and are glued over the clipped nails. You do need to be very careful to get the proper size. They go by weight, and my cat actually needed the large - he didn't meet the weight, but he is a bigger cat, and his feet are just bigger :P. If they are too small, they come off very easily, and I think they are uncomfortable for the cat. Also, they do need to be replaced about every 2 months - they fall off eventually as the nail grows out, and you need to repeat the process. We find that it is worth it though, even with the little nail caps laying around on the floor occasionally! :P
My "furkid" adapted very well to the soft paws... so I would definitely consider them as an option. Hope this helped! :D
Sticky paws works great!
We also got all brand new living room furniture last year, and we have 3 cats. We went to Petco (you can get it at any pet store), and they have a product called Sticky Paws. It is a double-sided clear tape that you put on the edges of the furniture, where cats tend to scratch the most, and when they go to scratch, they hate the sticky feeling on their paws and never go near it again! We have been using it for a year since we got our furniture, and our cats haven't once tried to scratch it since putting the sticky paws on!

Wrap them in aluminum foil and put in a
pan as you suggested or, if you have crock pots, you could put them in there on warm. If your kitchen at teh church has an oven, I would wrap them and put them in the oven on warm, and then replace them on the serving table as needed.

Apparently you, for example......I know moms of boys and sometimes I think some of them are delusional about their *boys/men*.....I don't know - I surely just don't get it.....as much as I try to get it.....
you can wrap them in alu foil and put them into the oven (preheated).....
But then they do not come out crispy, rather soggy, but good, nevertheless.

My only suggestion would be to have set feeding times for the cats, that way you can monitor which cat is eating what. Just a thought -

You are going off on ME because I was looking for some suggestions to get HER to understand the destruction her pet has caused.
If it was anyone else but family, I would have shot the dog without hesitation.
As a matter of fact, I have used the pellet gun to pop him in the rear several times. That only keeps him away for a few days at a time.
You can say what you want but if I just went out and shot her dog, that WOULD be like killing her kid to her.
My husband's sister is more important than the cats. We loved our cats but my kids have one aunt. Only one.

Like I said watch your kids around the chow as the older they get the nastier and more protective they get and are much more aggresive than a lot of other dogs. Even if it were my sister, if her dog did that and she would not accept responsibility for the dog's actions -- would not accept it. My animals are members of my family (I have no kids just step) and my dog is part chow but if she had ever shown agressive behavior in her past 16+ years or had killed a couple of cats, I would have had her put down and hated doing it but would have felt it was necessary. Again, if another dog did that to one of my two cats -- either family member or not -- something would be done especially if it happens more than once. Just my thinking -- again you were asking for suggestions just don't like the obvious ones. Cannot treat this situation nice and sweet like ice cream and cake as it is ugly.

 I don't know much about San Francisco....probably too high a risk to let the cats out by themselves. Watching the "real thing" is not quite enough for the felines....I mean, when you got one that can jump 12 feet in the air and snag a red bird (cardinal), beats up moles, chipmunks, and cottomouths (snakes)....that's Napster....I've seen my friend's cats nearly hurt themselves trying to go through a plate glass window after the birds, chipmunks, et al.....it's such a tease. .I've had many, many cats and they would walk for miles with me...Fioma was the best......Right now Napster (12 lbs) and Zeus (120 lb Great Pyreness dog) walk together with me in the morning....I get the most curious looks and smiles from the kids on the school bus seeing the 2 of them together. If you can manage some time to take your cat out to explore and play in the grass (there are leashes for them) you'll find a happier cat. Napster won't even use a litter box...meows at the door or window by my desk to go out. Remember, you don't own them....they own you....you're just a custodian of these sweet beings..Cat.

Do you have one of those cat towers? I know they're kind of expensive so I haven't bought any for my cat. What about a bookshelf that they can climb up on? Also my cat loves feathers tied to a string and hanging from doorknobs. She bats at them constantly. My cat tends to sleep all day cause she doesn't have a playmate except for me so she plays when she wants to when everyone is home at night.

I, unfortunately, am allergic to cats, as is my husband and son. My daughter is the only one who is not allergic to cats. On a recent outing to dinner in the evening recently, a home we walked by after parking our vehicle had Halloween decorations up, with a live black cat sitting on the porch and looking at me with its glorious green eyes. How fitting for the season. I love it! Cats are so very agile and preternatural, absolutely gorgeous and fascinating to behold. I love them all, even though I cannot be a cat owner. I have a beautiful blue merle sheltie.

Please please try to keep you cat indoors. The #1 kiiler of cats is the out-of-doors. They will pee on anything to let you know they are sick. When my daughter was born, my siamese pooped in the doorway of her bedroom every morning for yrs. You can learn to live with it. My sense of smell is totally gone. How old is your cat? Male cats are extremely prone to GU problems. Oh well.

I absolutely love cats and all of their special qualities, but I, my husband, and one of my children are allergic to them, so I have never had one as a part of our family.
I will pray that you can muster the strength to get through this. God and his angels will take care of this special creature.
Whenever one of our dogs had passed, it was so very difficult, of course. We embrace and so very strongly love them when they are with us, but it hurts so much when it is their time.
