Craig Ferguson, Late Late Show
Such a great interviewer and SO handsome!
What would you do if your doc was always late with an appt and you were late arriving?
Took my daughter to our family doc today - we were late a half hour but this doc is always at least an hour behind in seeing patients. I have been going to this doc for 15 years and love him. The last time I saw him I waited over two hours. The receptionist reminded me we were late (geez, as if I didn't know that already). I apologized and gave her the reason why. She then said "they would try to fit us in." After waiting for an hour, I asked when did she think we would be seen. Another 15 minutes went by and we were called by the nurse. After waiting in the exam room for over a half hour, I took my daughter's chart with a check for our co-pay, brought both to the checkout desk, and then left. I realize emergencies do come up but I feel my time is money as I work as an IC and with sitting and waiting for the doc to show up I'm losing money. I'm already thinking of changing docs but this one is exceptional. Maybe I just need to vent. Any opinions or similar experience?
School's right, late is late. However...
*if* these things were legitimately said, about your son and your "bad parenting" particularly, I doubt you would be here posting. You would be contacting the highest school official you could right now. It sounds like you are rallying support over feeling chastised and exaggerating, frankly.
As for the book report, if your son needs to do it instead of the play, he also needs to be able to approach the teacher. I find it unlikely a 2nd-grade teacher would assign a book report, then not explain it in any way. Most 2nd-graders are doing fill-in-the-blank book reports on forms the teacher provides. Is it likely your son should already know this?
About being late, it doesn't matter if your tire was flat or you drove in a fog or it takes you 40 minutes. Children are to be at school on time.
Stop making excuses. Get the children to school on time. If someone lost their cool at the school and said these things, you have legitimate grounds for taking the next step. You are wasting time and energy whining here.
If you are not happy with the school, take your children's education into your own hands and educate them yourself, via homeschooling. Then your children don't have to be in lock-step with all the other little soldiers the schools are raising in their institutional setting.
Group singing
I think the group songs have been much better this year than previous years I've watched. Mostly their voices blend well and pitch has been good.
Didn't Chris sing well during his solos in the group songs? I think it was just fierce competition/tough schedule that dis him in. Either that or he just wanted to go home.
The name of the group is Heartland -
I just looked up the words to see if I could find them - I did - I cried again.
Hope they are a better group than this
xx
Maybe a cat or dog rescue group needs help. - nm

Choosing a group
You can pick a charity by clicking on the "Add a Charity" button at the bottom of the page. On the next page, on the left side, is a box for the not-for-profits groups. If you click that you will see all the groups listed.
Or you can just type in "Pet Rescue By Judy" and use that one, LOL!
Once you have selected your group you can check how much your are helping by clicking on the "amount raised" button.
Can you imagine how much MTs can help with all the searching we do! We have the power you guys! Don't forget to shop through this site also! You can shop for Target, ebay and many others. Just click on the shop through GoodSearch and shop as usual. It really helps! You can make GoodSearch your home page too and see just how much you can help!
Thanks for all the great responses! May God bless you with many, many lines, easy reports and no ESLs this week!

Is this the same group against Gays?

Youth Group Name
My DH is a youth pastor, our Youth Group at the beach was called WAVES, which stood for Worship Active Voices Exclaiming Salvation. We moved up to the mtns of our state, and he had coined the name for our Youth Group as EXCITE, which stands for Exalting Christ in Today's Environment!!. We are still looking for a home church since we moved in Jan 2007. My DH is getting very disheartened... Good luck to your Youth Group. Oh, by the way, if you live anywhere close to Myrtle Beach, SC then consider taking your youth next year to the Big God Conference on New Year's eve/day. It is AWESOME!!
Wonder what a group of men would be saying about women?
sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Please don't group everyone under the assumption
that our jobs are unfulfilling. I enjoy my work and am very happy with my accounts.
Oh, and I think anyone can start a group there.
You can start an MTStars group most likely. It will advertise MTStars as an MT forum and then if people use monikers, they can say who they are, or they can just be a part of the Facebook MTStars group. I am not sure if MTStars would mind or not, so maybe we should ask the admin, but I would think the would want posters to draw their friends here. JMO. I don't want to step on any toes though. It is networking and I learn a lot from Stars.
So, Yeah, Thanks for being here MTStars...
I feel bad for the 1st group. There were
several more of them that would have made the top 12 if they have been included in this group rather than their own.
If it is the group I heard about on the news...
They are an extremely disturbed church group who protest at the funerals of soldiers who died in Iraq, but get this, not against the war, but against gay people. Nutty right? They protest and yell that the soldiers are dying because God is punishing America for being too accepting of gay people. Very sick. They do this at soldiers' funerals throughout the nation, regardless of if the dead soldier is straight or gay.
I get a knot in my throat whenever I think about those poor grieving families, but Harley Davidson riders around the country have come together to form a solid line of riders between the families and the protestors.
A recently used solution against this group
was applied by Hells Angels. No joke.
The Hells Angels motorcycle group was nearby where a protest was being held and they showed up! Ran off every single one of the Westboro derelicts.
First time I've ever been in favor of Hells Angels.
Don't group all girls in that same generalization.
It is not fair. My DD as well as my nieces are all really good girls. I am not fooling myself. One niece is getting ready to leave for Liberty College becuase she wanted to attend a christian college. None of the girls dress unappropriately. They are all very good students and all but one are active in youth groups. The one that isn't has a job so that she can help out with her soon to be large college bill. Not all girls are out hunting down guys.
Oh, forgot to say females that are in a group
seem to have their periods synchronized. Just think, if all these girls got theirs at the same time, no pool for a week? Oh, I forgot, get an excuse.
I think you do want to join you're just to shy to say so - group hug? nm
x
There is one from the 10 Minute Solutions group.
xx
I agree totally. This group could not
compare to the first. There is only 1 more group left. I personally liked Allison (the redhead), and Kris (the guy after her), and Adam. He has been 1 of my favorites from the beginning. I also wanted to like Kai and was disappointed with his performance.
Agree with last night's group
I wasn't wowed by anyone last night really. Obviously Lil was good, and I actually did like the one girl who had been brought back... can't remember her name. I didn't think any of the guys were that great. That kid who did That's Why They Call It The Blues... that was embarassing. I find it surprising that they passed up other people for some of them that they have in the 36. Anyone, I thought week 1 was much better and even thought last week was better than this group. As far as the format, I don't like it all that much either. However, I do remember that my Clay, still my favorite then and forever (lol), ended up on the show as a wildcard.
The "Harley Group" people speak of here
Are actually the Patriot Guard Riders
http://www.patriotguard.org/
They are made up of anyone who wants to join. You don't have to ride, you can go on foot or by car.
My husband and I are riders and are really proud of all the fine people in the Patriot Guard.
They usually don't go though, unless the family requests/consents, because they don't want to cause additional grief. Instructions are to not engage troublemakers, and shield the families as much as possible.
Thank God for Patriot Guard riders!
Just got a foster dog from a local rescue group
Very sweet, but has a bad cough that's been going on for over a week. I've been asking the rescue group if I can take him in to the vet, but they keep saying no. I don't have a job, so I don't have the money to do it myself (I do have the time). I'm certain the rescue group is concerned about money, but this seems unfair to me and the dog. For all I know he could have any number of things wrong. They are telling me it's a cold, and to just wait until he's better before he goes in to be neutered.
What's the right thing to do? What should I tell the group's organizer?
Suggestions?
Thanks.
They are a largely Hispanic group though. My brother
was homeless at one point and got woken up with one chopping him up with a machete, their signature weapon. They are an extremely dangerous gang. We moved way out to get as far as we could from that stuff in a great part of town and I am seeing tags already from them.
Somehow my brother lived. He even managed to keep his arm they almost chopped off. We think it was part of an initiation.
Is there a grief support group in your town?
xx
she is restricting him from this group; he is rebelling for this reason.
nm
Right - he IS a minority in the group of kids he is around on a reg. basis (nm)

alcoholics have personality changes; talk to AA group

It's not like this is a support group. It's a chat board. nm

All very funny and cute! What a creative group of mom's!
My son wants to be a french fry this year. I had it down and was ready to make a great costume until he clarified to me that it was 1 single crinkle cut fry...now I'm lost. I'm going to the fabric/hobby store today to get ideas. I don't know how anyone is going to know what he is! lol
Ideas for Youth Group Names
I'm teaching a small youth group at our church and I'm trying to come up with a good name for them besides "(Insert church names here) Youth Group". Also, our Baptist Association has an association-wide youth group and I'm trying to come up with some ideas for them too.
(I know this is church-related but I was hoping I'd get more ideas if I put it on the Gab Board)
TIA!!
I was disappointed in the group last night basically
No one really grabbed me like I would like them to. Adam was okay but I am just not into him as well. The group overall had none of the zing felt with the first group. Oh, well, I think there is a brand new group next week, isn't that so and how many more groups are there?
My daughter started group counseling sm
She meets with the school psychologist once a week and other kids from her grade who all have coping issues, and they work on their social skills. She is 9. Maybe your school has a similar program? Or maybe some internet research would turn up some group counseling in your area.
Good luck to you and your son!
hah, that reminds me of when
i was a youngster and after washing my hands in my grandma's bathroom, put on 'lotion' and could't get it to rub in!! I complained to her it wouldn't absorb, only to find out it was a soap -- never had seen soap in a bottle!! before...
Reminds me of my mam-maw
she used this for anything but I never knew was good for that. You can use this for sores in your mouth as well as sores on your knee. I have some so now will try for these chapped lips. Thanks, should have known.
Reminds me of DH's tan...sm
He was so proud, he thought he was "tanned under the sunburn" until he took a shower - he said "I think my tan's washing off." When I asked him what sunscreen he had used, I realized he had used my self-tanning lotion instead!
Reminds me of this one....lol
"CHEATING" by Sara Evans
You say your every day is a bad dream that keeps repeating.
Maybe you should have thought about that when you were cheating.
How do you like that furnished room, the bed, the chair, the table
The TV picture comes and goes, too bad you don't have cable
How do you like that paper plate and those pork 'n' beans you are eating.
Maybe you should have thought about that, when you were cheating.
How do you like that beat up car, I think its fair we traded
Your pickup truck is running fine, it's cozy ride for dating.
Yes, I've been out a time or two, and found the comfort I've been needing.
Maybe you should have thought about that, when you were cheating.
You made your bed, and your out of mine, you lie awake and I sleep just fine.
You've done your sowin', now you can do the reaping.
Maybe you should have thought about that, when you were cheating.
Now what became of what's-her-name, after she spent all of your money and had all your time. Did she leave you just like you left me, well, sometimes life is funny.
But no, I won't be glad to take you back, as if all is fine and dandy.
Maybe you should have thought about that, when you were cheating.
got here a little late - but I can tell you why
she is doing it - it will only happen around mating season - she sees the reflection of herself in the door, grill, whatever - I have even known of hubcaps - and thinks it is a rival. It looks painful - but she will do it in anything she can see herself in.
Reminds me ....
My son and I were singing along with Elton John's song - Tiny Dancer - to which he asks me who is singing. Then he wanted to know why Elton was singing about Tony Danza!
Hold me closer Tony Danza............. I laughed till I cried!
OMG, that reminds me
of my most embarrassing confession- I LOVE popping zits/blackheads (but only my own). The more gunk that comes out the better. When I get a really good one I will spend 20 minutes searching to try to find another one. I know it sounds totally gross but it is so strangely satisfying.
reminds me of me when I was little!
LOL
Try this if not too late
Same kind of thing happened to me recently. Do you have access to an ATM? I went at 11:00 at night and deposited just enough (6 bux). It stopped a check from bouncing the next day. Maybe I just got lucky but couldn't hurt to try!
Never too late - sm
I am going back to school and I'm 39. I will be starting my first classes for winter quarter. Should have done it years ago but.... doing it now anyway.
I'm nervous and excited.
I say GO For It!
That reminds me of my DH! . .
We have a small hobby farm and he works on it before/after work and on weekends. He would hate life if all he did was work and come home. I hate it when it is rainy or the weather is bad because he just sits in the house and complains about how there isn't anything to do (like a little kid!). Sometimes it makes me feel like he hates to spend time with me, but I figure he is just happiest taking care of his tractor and animals and whatever else he does out there. It must be a guy thing. He always says he needs to get a hobby that doesn't involve work. I have been trying to get involved with the farming stuff, so I can do things outside with him. He said he will help build me a chicken house so I can get some chickens this spring. He said he will help me get the garden going too. I guess I just need to meet him halfway and be more involved. Good luck to you!
this reminds me of what I went through
in the 80's with 4. One teacher kept sending me a note that Rob needed a box of Kleenex and I fussed at him, "how much Kleenex are you using?". He had said so far. I called the teacher and said I was going to send the same roll of toilet paper we were having to use at home. She told me it was for the kids whose parents did not have money for these things and I told her, "guess what, I am one of those parents. I'm a widow with 4 kids". I never got asked for anything again. I thought I would choke on school supplies and extras the teachers liked such as Weekly Reader (in Texas, all school books are free, but that does not include Weekly Reader). There was the added pressure of each class getting a pizza party for 100% compliance. I wonder what they are going to do now with all the health food concerns, LOL.
Take her to your PCP now before it's too late
Then have her committed to a drug rehab. This is going to be a long road but unless she gets away from the friends who do the drugs, she'll never get off of them. She needs help sounds like "yesterday" and I wouldn't hesitate to have my son or daughter tested and committed. Sorry you are experiencing this.
At least a "f-u" is something and she's not totally blocking you out, but she'll need your support.
Ugh. Reminds me of (sm)
I remember dating this very handsome eligible batchelor when I was in my early 20s. He had his own apartment and a good job. He proudly told me about the fancy set of pots and pans he'd bought, so that was one thing he'd already have when he got married. I don't even care about cooking, but I didn't like the idea of the male picking out stuff for his future wife. I'm sure he made somebody a great husband, but it's funny how that conversation set off alarm bells for me.
My husband also bought a car without talking to me about it while we were engaged, and I was quite shocked. It did say something about his attitude about money and purchases, and I should have listened to those warning bells too.
LOL - that reminds me of the other day when
my 7 year old son came home from school. He asked me did I know that kids used to not speak unless spoken too. I told him what a wonderful concept that was that we've lost over the years. He just looked at me horrified. His expression was priceless! :)
This reminds me of....
the many conversations I would find myself having inside my head right BEFORE I was able to make my decisive move. Pardon me for saying, but this looks like projection on your part, especially the part that has to do with your concrete conviction that she wants to stay. It is apparent that she does not, only that she is trying to find her way out. Your rhetoric has a sense of panic and desperation about it that I believe has very little to do with anon, but rather are vestiges of your own past experience with this. In fact, it sounds like you have PTSD that has been triggered. If you want to be helpful, take a deep breath, count to 10 and try dialing it back a bit.
That reminds me of when my
grandfather died. We took my then 8-year-old to the viewing and after everyone had gone through and the family was allowed some private time, he asked if he could go up to say his goodbyes (we had explained the funeral process to him beforehand).
Well, he went up beside my grandma (she was just mentally and physically exhausted from the months caring for him leading up to his death and the funeral arrangements), and my 8-year-old, having never been to a funeral before, asked if he could touch Pap. Grandma said it was okay and he touched his hand first and told grandma it was cold and he needed covered up. I thought my grandma would lose it at that point and had gone up to bring my son back to sit down. Well, she told him it was okay to touch him and say good bye. So he went up and patted his head. He had never touched my Pap's head before and I guess he was curious. My Pap was not very affectionate -- ex-Marine, retired corrections officer -- you get the picutre. I guess my son thought this was his chance, and so he just kept patting his head like a dog. About that point, my gram lost it and said to my 8-year-old, if you don't stop playing with your Pap's head, he's going to jump up out of that coffin after you. My 8-year-old's eyes got as big as golf balls and he came back quick to his seat. My gram couldn't help laughing. She said it was the funniest thing and it never occurred to her that he would actually believe that his Pap could get out of that coffin. Now, when anyone brings up my Pap's passing, my gram tells that story and can't help laughing. It was a much needed way to break the tension my gram was experiencing.
