I like Bare Minerals makeup and Arbonne skin care

Posted By: - sm on 2008-10-02

I don't like to look like I have makeup on and the Bare Minerals helps me accomplish that. The Arbonne skin care is pricey, but to me well worth it - I took a year break from it and went back! I absolutely love the Sephora website!

Bare Minerals makeup

I just ordered Bare Minerals makeup.
I've got very uneven skin tones, red blotches, etc. and hope this will help.  The money back guarantee sounded good.  I see Cover Girl, Maybelline and others are now using the same concept.  Any info, thoughts or suggestions?  TIA
Bare Escentuals, who makes Bare Minerals.

Bare Minerals???

I guess this is the board to put such a question on...If not, let me know.

Has anyone here tried or use Bare Minerals?  I just received the starter kit as a gift and have pretty sensitive skin so I thought I'd try to get some feedback from my fave site, lol!!!

Thanks for any feedback or tips!!!

Bare Minerals
I use bare minerals and love it. It looks so natural and feels great on. As a matter of fact, I just got married on July 26, 2008 and many of the ladies involved with my wedding were bare minerals users as well. GREAT PRODUCT!
I use Bare Minerals and LOVE it!
I don't know where you live, but in most places you can find somewhere that sells it in the store, so you don't have to order it and wait for the mail! Usually upscale salons sell it. Good luck and let us know how you like it, I do, and have used it for awhile. I tried Sheer Cover, and went back to Bare Minerals.
Love my Bare Minerals.

I have been using it for about 4 years now and I love it.  I've tried quite a few other mineral makeups so I will tell you what I have found:

Loreal - Did not make a shade light enough to match my skin.  Did not blend well.

Maybelline - Hideous pinkish-orange tinge to their fairest color.  It took Maybelline so long to come out with a mineral makeup, I was shocked that it was so bad.

TruMinerals - got this on the Internet.  It looked very nice and blended very well, but it had a very unpleasant odor.  I didn't like their mineral veil either, nor any of the other items that came in the kit.

Avon - I really liked Avon's mineral makeup.  The color was beautiful and it had the same nice texture as Bare Minerals.  They do not have a wide range of color choices, though.

Here is a winner, which really surprised me, because it is CHEAP:  NYC (New York Color) which I bought at WalMart.  Both the foundation and the mineral veil are very good and blend nicely.  I use my Bare Minerals brushes, though.  The brushes they come with really don't work so well.  NYC is less than $5, which is a great price for mineral makeup, less than half the other drugstore brands and much, much less than Bare Minerals.

I still think Bare Minerals is the best, but it is just so expensive.   I'll either stick with NYC or buy my Bare Minerals on ebay, which I have a couple of times when I have run out between my next shipment.

Mineral makeup has been so good to my skin!  I have much less trouble with breakouts since I have been using it.  Good luck!

RoC skin care
Anyone use RoC skin care?  If so, did it burn when you first began using it.  It does say that it may burn a bit when first starting out, so I only use it qod, but geeze, my face is warm feeling.  Think maybe it's partly my imagination, but just wondering if anyone else experienced this and if so, how long it lasted.  Thanks y'all!
home skin care for wrinkles sm
Sun worshiper all my life; now my face looks like a roadmap of wrinkles. I am trying to lose a little weight but know this will make the wrinkles even worse. I cannot afford the fancy dancy stuff at the cosmetic counter. Have tried a few from Garnier, Olay, Ponds, but they do not work. I exfoliate with honey and sugar mask, moisturize, etc., still there! TIA

I'm just curious. Do you wear makeup. I use makeup
to enhance what God gave me. Just curious.
Arbonne-sm
I really like Arbonne. I don't think anything can reverse wrinkles, other than botox. But I do believe a good skin care product can keep you from getting more!
Arbonne Int'l products are wonderful...
I used MK for almost 20 years and never thought I would use anything else, but I recently tried Arbonne Int'l products and my face feels wonderful.  Do a search for their website.
I use Smoky Mountain Minerals
http://www.smokymountainminerals.com/home,home.html.  I really loved the Bare Minerals that my mom had given me, but it was a bit pricey, so I started using Smoky Mountain. I love the makeup. It's not heavy like normal foundation and I really like the halo glow.  I have a pretty unevel skin tone myself and it covers that nicely without looking heavy.
Bare Essentials
Seriously- I tend to lick and bite my lips alot so most lipstick is gone almost immediately but this kind really sticks. Not too expensive either, about 15 dollars.
Bare Essentials
Yes, I have noticed that I get it on the sink. I try to be careful but it still happens.
Bare Essentials question
For those of you who wear Bare Essentials or something similar, when do you put on your moisturizer? Do you let it soak in and then apply the make up? Thanks in advance!
....as hard water would have the minerals and iron dissolved

I don't care about your things, and can't imagine anyone would care about mine.
Whether it's my eating quirks or my sexual preferences, I have no need to divulge that stuff here.
It's NOT that interesting (mine OR yours!) and nobody cares.
Pizza for us too (delivery) - my cuboards are bare
Been bare all week. Tired of meals consisting of popcorn, potato chips, or buttered rice (nothing else, just buttered rice), and other "non-meal" items.

Glad the weekend is here to do grocery shopping.
This is me and my makeup
No mtter how much money I have or have had, I always feel like I am almost in the soup line. I have worked since I was in high school. I never wanted to be on welfare and I guess this accounts for my work ethics. If I were to win a lottery now I doubt that I could give my job up - lot of people do not understand this but this is just how I feel. I always have the mentality of not having enough money although realistically this is not the case- just my feelings. I would think it is sorta like how an anorexic person is- they are skin and bones yet think they are fat? I have enough money but since in school just think I need to always work and make more.
Prescriptives makeup
Does anyone use this makeup?  If so, what is your opinion?  Thanks!
He has darkened them with makeup
that's why they look so odd.
mineral makeup
Just wanted those of you who were interested awhile ago (back in early November??) that Mary Kay's new line of mineral make-up foundation is now available!!!  I tried it and it is GREAT!!
The older you are, the lighter the makeup. SM
That Bare Ecentials brand is good. Looks natural, but covers flaws.

I'm using Sally Hansen Spray Makeup. Use a moisturizer first, then spray makeup on sponge. Cover with some light powder and some blush. Really light eyeshadows, since I have circles around eyes. If needed, some eyeliner (not black) and mascara.
Pre-teens and makeup question. sm
My DD just turned 13 and I have agreed to allow her to wear basic makeup now.  However, she is not applying it appropriately to where I think it looks decent.  I am not a big makeup person and all the teens are into this glitter stuff at that.  I would like to take her somewhere to really teach her how to apply makeup, select her colors, etc.  Does anyone know of a place that does this type of thing and any good recommendations that would help?
Of course it is!!! Makeup is for helping people
nm
Ladies, how did you learn to apply makeup?
How have you changed the way you wear makeup as you have aged? What do you wear and tell me how you apply it? I've never worn makeup except for awhile in high school and I'm thinking that I'm needing some color in my face now that I've aged (what a horrid word that is!!). The thing is, I know NOTHING about it. Tell me everything I need to know so I won't end up looking like a clown!! PLEASE.
I use the Virtual Matte Oil Control makeup. It's kind

of expensive, but I don't get a rash or any breakouts using it. It's about 30 bucks.

I just have to brag on this mineral makeup stuff. I bought some from sm

Ulta a few weeks ago - it's the Ulta Brand - cheaper than Bare Minerals. It was around 35.00 for the kit. I think it's called Pure. I got blush medium. LOVE IT!

Right now you can try for free Purity Mineral Science for 7.95 shipping. You get 3 brushes, a gorgeous little bag and 3 products that go together and 3 cosmetic brushes - 2 big ones, 1 small one for concealing.

I ordered it Fri and it came today.  Anyways, of course I LOVE IT.  But on the piece of paper it stated in small letters: If you decide to keep this kit we will bill you 59.00 and then every 2 months you will receive another set of makeup at a low, low cost of 29.99 every 2 months.  Which is an automatic refill kind of thing. I've never done that and I don't like that,so I called to cancel my trial and to see how much it would cost to keep this lovely kit.  She said 35.00 allows me to keep the kit and cancel all future memberships, no charges, etc. I am THRILLED!

I have to tell you - I immediately put the makeup on when I got it at 1:00 EST. It is now 4:56 and I still look fresh as ever! I can't believe it. I LOVE it.  I love, love, love it.

I have been a Mary Kay user for about 14 years. I love the coverage MK gives, and this gives awesome coverage too!

anyways, husband just called rip roaring mad while I was typing this and he really piss** me off, so I will end this "nice" conversation I was having with ya'll.  Just go try some if you've ever been wondering about this stuff.

Makeup question - mascara for sensitive eyes

I don't wear makeup every day, but I do on the rare occasion that I go out.  It seems like my mascara has been really irritating my eyes lately when I wear it.  I've tried a couple different brands, but they all seem to do it.  My eyes get dry and itchy and I've been getting little annoying styes.  Can anyone with sensitive eyes or contacts recommend a mascara that doesn't irritate your eyes?  Thanks!!

Nordstrom.com sells BE Makeup and has faster shipping/ better customer service. ;-) nm

I take a shower before I start work and put on makeup but just wear comfy clothes...
I don't get dressed up or anything...maybe taking a shower before you start working would make you feel better...I can't work if I feel dirty--lol
When you say under the skin?
Do you mean you take off the skin, put the mixture, and then replace the skin?  Like I said, I'm an newbie with turkeys, so I have to clarify.  thx so much!
Dry skin
I have that problem with many products too and my skin isn't dry to begin with but rather oily. Sometimes I am not sure which problem is more embarrasing, the scaly dry skin or the acne.

I haven't had that problem with product though, even when I use it multiple days in a row.
SKIN
Try the "cracked heel" cream made for your feet. I've tried almost every cream made. Also put a finger cot (you, know they look like mini-condoms) from the drugstore over a Band-Aid over the cream. Use the Band-Aids that are made for fingertips and are stretchy and flexible. Put oodles of cream on when you go to bed. Just grease, grease, grease as much as you can. Protect the split as much as possible. If all else fails, try a regular medical finger splint. Idea is to grease and protect so it will heal - kind of hard to do when you use it to make a living, I know! I live in Maine and it happens to me with our low temps, and these all help. Good luck. Rosie

I would second the 2nd skin. (s/m)
I have lots of friends who do serious road-skating: Downhill runs in the middle of the night, inline marathon races, etc. A bad 'road rash' is basically a burn, (except with some asphalt and rocks 'n' stuff in it!). Most of them swear by 2nd Skin. Allowing it to dry out and scab not only makes it much more painful, but it seems to heal with more of a scar. One time I got a knee & elbow rash at the same time, and allowed the knee to scab, and kept the elbow moistened and covered with a nonstick telfa pad and wrapped that with gauze. It not only healed faster than the knee, but the scar is barely visible. I thought that was the best I could do, but my Xtreme skater friends tipped me off about 2nd Skin. I plan to get some and keep it on hand for next time. There is ALWAYS a 'next time'!
Good nite! Kelly Pickler equals big boob job, too much makeup, whacked off hair!

Dry skin on my furkids
I took my big furboy to get his coat taken care of and was told he has dry skin and I should try some olive oil in the food. I used about half teaspoon between the 2 small cans that I give my kids and they are not just liking that. The lady had said I could possibly use a vitamin E on his skin but tried the olive oil first. Anyone with any similar problems and ideas? Thanks
Since when does humidity cut down on the dry skin?
Our humidity here in southern Georgia runs very, very high and I have to use special soap on my face especially because if not I dry out so badly, like flaking skin on eyelids, face, around the nose area. I myself just don't know how it should or does help.
I use it for extremely dry skin -
have a spray of it that I use on my arms legs, feet right after a shower when still a little damp, and I love it. It helps more than several lotions.
skin diseases

Needing help with this dry skin...
I have used Vaseline on my face, lips and am using bathing soaps like Dove but when I change my jeans have flakes of dried skin all over the place. What can I use as an all over body lotion that can get help me with this extremely dry skin? Thanks.
I had a friend who had skin reduction
for her arms and the so-called plastic surgeon measured one arm and took the same amount out for both arms. This left a gaping wound that the dodo couldn't close. Mind you the incision was the length of her upper arm. Grrrrr.
That's what I found. Not for older skin.

Moh's procedure for skin cancer

Put on some thick skin....my gosh,
everyone is so touchy here lately....my opinion is allowed and it does not have to agree with yours! We still can have our own opinions in this country, can't we?
My grandmother used olive oil for everything, especially for her skin
and when she wanted to give herself a facial, she would combine oatmeal and egg whites - i remember how funny she used to look doing that but that woman had the most beautiful skin.  For conditioning her hair, she used mayonnaise that she made herself and to protect her hair during the winter months she used avocado and olive oil - after washing her hair she would as she said ' scoop to goop' onto her hair, wrap it with a warm towel for ten minutes and rinse it out thoroughly.  She never ever used soap on her face - she used to tell me and my sisters (there are five of us) that soap is the worst thing for a woman's skin...to clean her face she used cold cream (Jergen's and some other kind I can't recall now) but it worked.  As an astringent she used witch hazel with a bit of tea tree oil and for scars which was got a lot being little, after they healed over really well she would have us rub a lemon rind with a teeny bit of lemon on it over our skin - it does fade small scars.  I tell you, stuff that grams used worked before all of this fancy schmancy manfactured stuff; and I still use a lot of her ideas to this day..
Dead skin floating around.
I thought about that last night as I was sitting at a restaurant. The light was shining through the window just right and I could see all sorts of dust particles in the air. To think that is settling on my food. Kinda gross.
I had a problem with severe dry skin patches also....

I found this Super E Natural vitamin E ointment for $5.00 at my local drug store and it went away almost immediately.  Hope you find something that helps!
