with students that are studying to be dentists. I think universities with dental schools have dental clinics that are open to the public. I'm not sure what they charge, but it might be something to look into.

I work in a dental office. Why did'nt Dental Dental
cover your crowns. If they were supposed to be in bad shape, I think they would have covered part of it. I do not think your teeth could get in that kind of shape, if they are checking and x-raying them all the time. I would not have faith in them either.
My daughter mentioned True Blood before
but I told her no way. She's only 14. I heard about the series, but I haven't had a chance to watch it. If I had a moment to read, I'd like to read the Twilight books myself, but I just can't seem to find a minute to do any reading. My daughter is going on Friday with her Twilight school group and then again on Saturday.
My daughter, a sophomore in college,
was given a car by her father (an old cadillac) when she was a senior and I carried her insurance. She sold it last summer and bought her own car, is paying for that herself, but I am still paying for part of her insurance as she is FT college student and is only working part-time.
My daughter never wanted to go to college out of town,
thank goodness! Live in large city but still less than 30 minutes there and 30 minutes back. Blessing!
As poster of daughter who misused college help
I did it cause I wanted to, not cause I thought I owed it to her. I told her from K that if she wanted a guarantee of college she better get the grades cause couldnt promise we could help her. I just happened to be in a position that I could help when the time came. I have already told DS not to expect the same as we did for DD, cause I was not going to throw my money away. Now, if he makes an effort to help himself, sure, I will help but I will not throw good money after bad. He also knows we are not going to buy him a car, as we did for DD, cause that was a disaster too. Some may say this is unfair, but I see it was a parental learning experience.
Anyone work in a dental office? Dental rant. SM
I have been going to the same dental office (father and daughter dentists), for over ten years. It is a private office, not a clinic. I have Delta Dental PPO.
There has never been a problem. I get my teeth cleaned every three months. I get x-rays taken twice a year and the dentist checks my teeth after each cleaning. Sounds good, right?
So at my last cleaning in January, I was told my teeth were in terrible shape and I needed five crowns placed. I then was subjected to a very hard sales pitch for these crowns, accompanied by gory videos of rotten teeth, with statements like "these could be YOUR teeth". They also went on to say that insurance will not cover this and I will have to pay out of pocket. The conservative price was $5000.
Well, I decided to have three crowns done. I paid $1000, (my tax refund), insurance did pay $1000 and I just paid another $600 out of pocket.
I have lost complete faith in this office. Why would I go there every three months, only to be told I need work that someone would need if they hadn't seen a dentist in 10 or more years?
Was I taken? I have no faith in them at all now.
Expensive dental care/no dental insurance. nm

Idols Tour
Has anyone been to see the idols tour concert? If so, did you enjoy yourself?
Idols tour
My family went last year to the concert and had the best time. However, I would not go this year because of the contestants. Last year we loved everyone. Elliott was the best.
Idol Tour
This year will be my third Idol tour. I had a fantastic time at both. Last year we got to meet everyone but Elliott and the year before we met quite a few of them. If you decide to go, I'm sure you'll have a great time.
time share tour (m)
I received a post card in the mail for a free cruise. I had just been on a cruise and thought it was something from the cruiseline. When I called, it is a promotion for a new resort (timeshare). If you go on a 60-90 minute tour, you get the cruise and some other gifts. Have any of you done any of these promo tours and what should I expect? I have heard they are quite a hard sell. Not sure if I should cancel. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Um, kids don't belong on a 3-hour TS tour
in the first place. I'm sure everyone else there was cringing when they saw your brood in tow. One in diapers, no less. Unreal. I think these tours are meant more for wealthy people who can afford these things, not for people looking for freebies for the whole family. And I'm suprised the guy was bothering you at all, and just didn't say, "NEXT!"...lol
2008 Live Chipmunk tour
Has anyone here seen the live 2008 Chipmunk tour? It is free to go and they are coming to my state on the 28th. The mall is a two-hour drive away-- at least and I would have to pull my girls from school to make the show just wondering if it is as good as the movie or not worth the trouble.
And then clinic or specialty is
usually doctor offices, such as a cardiologist, pulmonologist, etc., etc. Acute care and Basic 4 are the same thing. OP notes means operative notes, discharge summaries (when the patient goes home) and tells of the hospital course during the patient's stay, H&P means history and physical (when the patient comes in as an inpatient), there is usually an H&P dictated and this is most likely by specialty depending upon the patient's problems and will include the patient's symptoms, past medical history, etc. ER means emergency room (pretty much self-explanatory). SOAP is subjective, objective, asssessment, and plan. Hope this helps.
Am going to the pain clinic soon
and if as good as above, may even ask for it by name. I have fibro (as posted on autoimmune board) and really suffer with pain, pain as am typing now, never goes away, sometimes hurting, sometimes unbearable. Have some Tramadol but that is a little sedating although can work with it, nothing else. Will probably try to get there next week.
Does anyone go to pain clinic
for really severe, ongoing pain and if so what kind of treatments have you had, did you find something that helped and did not zonk you out so you could continue to work? I am in the process of having records faxed to pain clinic, tired of the uncontrolled pain. Thanks
I have one. Worked for a vet clinic. I know.
It is still cruel. Even the vets I worked for were disgusted by the practice.
Having worked in vet clinic, I would do it. It is not
surgically removing the first digit of the toes. To spay, uterus is surgically removed and no one thinks that is cruel. Aside from immediate postop discomfort, which you have with ANY surgery, they didnt seem in pain to me when we declawed a cat at the clinic. It seemed to me that it felt different to the cats, and just took some getting used to. I cant beleive a vet would say that to you. Do you think a cat would rather be declawed or thrown outside when is used to being house cat, taken to the pound, dumped in the country or given to someone who might not be so nice
you are not a pain....you need to go to walk-in clinic

See if there is a free clinic in your area or -sm
one that charges at a discounted fee based on your income. I did that for years though I had insurance through my parents, but did not want them to know I was on the pill. I just had to tell them how much money I made a month and they would give me a years supply of pills at a very discounted price. Basically went there for about 5 or 6 years until I got my own insurance after college. Saved me tons of money and it was a nice clinic associated with the local hospital. Even if you have to drive an hour to get to one it would be worth your while.
Go right now to the nearest urgent care clinic or ER
Tell them what has happened and that you are ceasing to function. Get some help for yourself. Do not wait another minute. Come back and let us know how you are doing! Take good care.
For many years when worked in animal clinic, after
never a problem. Using a special litter after surgery is a relatively new idea. They have litters very similar in texture to regular litters for after declaws but where I worked, we told owners if kitty wont use box with special litter, to just use the regular litter and again, never had a problem with it.
I'm a volunteer nurse at the free clinic
I do medical transcription for money and nursing for free. I've been a nurse since 2001, and I sometimes miss people! Unfortunately, since I've upped my hours at work, I haven't been able to volunteer for the last couple of months.
Doing the free clinic is not like actual nursing work in that there's no backstabbing and pettiness, just appreciation. It's scary, though, knowing what medical problems people have been having for days and have to wait for the free clinic day because they couldn't afford the doctor's office (or the hospital). However, the doctors who do volunteer have the free clinic patients come to their real clinic for free if they have an issue that can't be addressed at the church where the free clinic is located, like drainage of a cyst or something.
Anyway, I wish I had more time for it. *sigh*

dental work
My husband now carries our insurance since I came home to work. I just found out that I don't have any type of dental plan, and I really need some dental work done. I have 3 kids and only work part time, so I obviously can't afford to pay out of pocket. Please help!!!
Used to be a dental assistant
and we would advise patient's of the same thing. Use a topical anesthetic to give you some relief and numb the area. As for the heat or cold it all depends on what is causing the toothache to begin with. If you have an abscessed tooth patient's have said heat to the area usually works best but if it's because you have an infected tooth in need of a root canal your tooth may have increased sensitivity to the heat or cold. Have you tried calling your dentist to see if maybe he can prescribe you something for the pain until he can get you in?
Dental Implants
I don't know much about these and really don't know how I feel about them. Has anyone had any dental implants?
Dental cleaning
What is the average cost these days for teeth cleaning (without insurance)? I suppose they include x-rays as well. I know the cost can vary but am trying to get an idea of the cost without insurance. My son and I have dental insurance but my husband does not so he needs an estimate. I think the dental office my son goes to is a bit pricey; however, with the dental insurance I have not bothered to comparison shop the prices.
Thanks.
Need pediatric dental help ASAP please!!
My 7-year-olds silver cap just came off one of his teeth (all in one piece). Do I just wait until Monday to call the dentist. What do I do??? (his tooth underneath it looks awful)!!
It was the dental hygienist in my case, SM
She was a dark haired beauty and so sweet. I met a man and turned him onto my dentist. He had teeth cleaned often due to retracting gums. In my cleaning sessions, she talked on about her life and the misfortunes. I talked with my now husband about it one night and he was able to give me further information about a broken relationship, financial hardship, her kids and her x husband. The next day, I called the office and told the office manager that she had crossed the line. I then changed dentists, for both of us.
Don't understimate what women will do when they see a good man. Cut it at the bud.
And 500 is way too much - for one thing, I'd be feeling indebted to a person who gave me that much. And you do not want that.
Change hair stylists and become a bit distant so your husband doesn't worry about her as she sounds like she is going to have problems which require help over and over again.

I worked in a dental office for years
and if you're going there religiously every three months and they never before said anything about your teeth being in disrepair, then something is NOT right there. I would run screaming and get another opinion. I worked for a very unscrupulous man (oh, don't get me started!), and I know the tricks people like that use. He had to make his Mercedes payment, and the Range Rover payment for his 16-year-old, among his other payments, and would pull all kinds of things on his patients. They're not all trustworthy out there, and your story sounds highly suspicious, because if your teeth are being taken care of and watched every three months, trouble should be spotted long before it turns into the need for a crown. Please see someone else. Don't tell them what your dentist said, and see if they say the same thing. Just go in for a cleaning and x-rays and see if the new dentist mentions the need for all those crowns. And if you do actually need them, then your dentist is one of those who knows about a cavity and lets it go to where you need a crown. Either way, I would NOT go back...

Did anyone ever have a dental implant for a front tooth and wish to say what
they thought about the whole process with wearing a flipper, etc. until the implant.
dental procedure: root planing
dentist says i need this because of moderate periodontal disease. $200 a quadrant x4 = $800 for what sounds like a horrible, bloody procedure. they say they only do two quadrants at a time. does anyone know anything about this, had it done? please let me know what to expect.... thanxabuncha

Ok..I found part of the article from Tricare Dental
The most profound sentence for us was, "only one-half the number of persons diagnosed with oral cancer are alive five years after the diagnosis." The article can be found at http://www.tricaredentalprogram.com/tdptws/dentalhealth/your_tdp/00009.jsp.
Also, you only have to be 18 to buy tobacco products. So, your son is old enough to buy this stuff. Anyway, hope this helps, but as I'm sure you know, 18 y/o boys think they're invincible and really don't like to listen to their parents. Hopefully he'll at least read all the information and make the best decision and quit before it can do any harm. Good luck!
Nutri-Dent edible dental chews..sm
I have two miniature schnauzers. I give them a Nutri-Dent dental chew 2-3 times a week. My vet commented that whatever I was using on their teeth was great, keep it up. It's worth a try for you. Wal-Mart carries them once in a blue moon, but usually not the size I need. I order mine from PetCareRX.com.
Daughter's phone is daughter's responsibility. Valuable lesson learned.
It should be between the daughter and the friend if the friend is going to pay any of the fees. They are teenagers, not preschoolers.
I saw that too and mentioned
to my hubby afraid really the nipple about to show, very revealing, not just low cut but almost out like you are saying.
I don't believe I mentioned that AT ALL
I only plan to show the page to the principal and, in case he is unaware, give him the website to find this information. I stand firm that the employees of that school and any other school should be very aware of who is entering their doors. Where did you get the notion that I was going to plaster posters all over? Naturally I am very concerned about that little girl and, from what I understand, counselors are involved.
This is just want I mentioned
in a previous e-mail - unbelievable! A few posts above I spoke of a story I just read about a wife whose husband was diagnosed with Asperber's at age 60 after leading a full functioning life.
I would have mentioned about...
Sex of child/teacher and age. I need opinion regardless of age and sex. Does it suit a teacher to use word honey and sweety? ethical?
Like was mentioned above, it is all in what

I did not see mentioned that your
grandmother wrote a will. Why did she not write a will?
Also: Why is the 'nephew' only your sister's nephew?
How is the relationship?
If your grandmother did not write a will, that means she died intestate, then the State takes over the distribution of your grandmother's assets. There are strict inheritance laws which will be implemented.
I doubt that this 'nephew' can take your inheritance away from you, since you are the grandchild and he is only the child of a grandchild. It seems that your grandmother's lawyer will be the executor, unless your grandmother gave a power of attorney to somebody else. This is the person who sees to it that all heirs get their right shares.
I have also 1 question, like the other poster:
What happened to the 'children' of your grndmother, namely the 'parents'?
They are the first in line according to succession.
I think like you mentioned in your other post
you just HAVE to wrap that and give it to him as one of his gifts for Christmas (unless he thinks of it first) LOL!
just trying to point out that the OP mentioned--sm
specifically that the franchise she was talking about began with the letter D and the above poster said "if you are talking about Pizza Hut..." shows how much they read these posts. lol.
Funny you mentioned that because
my favorite chair was the 1 they clawed to death and I put in an unused hallway until I got the time to spend making sure they loved the catnip more than my new leather. I hear them in the hallway going after that ole worn out chair. I would have had it recovered but once the scratching started, figured they would go at it again. I am doing cleaning this morning and this afternoon will have the time to put their catnip out and take my covers off. Does cutting their nails help any or will they still scratch as much as they do?
If this hasn't be mentioned before (sm)
Chances are the school has a policy regarding this. If not, the child/parent may have some recourse.
Generally school policies supercede general law and rights, i.e. search and seizure regarding lockers (they can go in them as they please).
I'm thinking if they imposed such a stiff penalty, they can back it up lawfully. It really matters not if we think it is right or wrong. If it's school policy (approved by the school board) and stated in the handbook every student gets at the beginning of the semester, then that's the bottom line.
