I waited about 2 years after he was born before I had the surgery, which was outpatient. It didn't bother me most of the time unless I was constipated (sorry if TMI). I had a TL the day after my son was born, so I don't know if it was just the pregnancy or the TL that contributed, probably both. Anyway, I do have a scar that goes to one side of my belly button but it isn't too bad. I had just lost my grandmother when I had the surgery, so I kind of overreacted about the whole thing, but as far as physical pain/recovery, it was better than what I had after my son was born & the tube-tying. I have been told that with being overweight, I am more susceptible to getting one again, but so far, almost 6 years later, I have not had it come back. Good luck in whatever you decide :)
