I had bleeding for the first four months of my first pregnancy...

Posted By: Kendra on 2009-03-30
In Reply to: How did you first know you were pregnant? - curiousmt

and I had a test that said I was not pregnant, so I thought something was seriously wrong with me. My symptoms with the first and the second were nausea and exhaustion, but the exhaustion came well before the nausea. I knew I was pregnant with my second son when I couldn't make it through the day without a nap! Good luck to you and I hope you are!

Bleeding dog (sm)
We just had the same thing happen to our Beagle 2 months ago. The little nail on his back claw was ripped out by the root when he was jumping down off the kitchen counter. There was blood everywhere! We rushed him to the vet, and the vet cleaned the area with peroxide and wrapped it with gauze and then Kling wrap. He gave our dog a shot of antibiotics and then oral antibiotics for the next 10 days. We had to keep him in an E-collar to prevent him from chewing it and bring him back for dressing changes. After he finished the antibiotics and had a couple of dressing changes, we kept a small sweat sock over his paw to keep the area clean. You can probably clean it and dress it yourself. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get infected. You might want to put some antibiotic ointment over the area before putting the dressing on. Good luck!

A quick way to help stop bleeding from a torn nail is to take some regular flour (whatever type you have on hand) and apply it. Such as put about a teaspoon full in the palm of your hand and stick the claw into it. Flour works just about as well as the "Quick-stop" the professionals use.
Vaginal bleeding
I thought I was going through the "change" for 2 years.  I had heavy bleeding, huge blood clots.  I had to be transfused several times when my hemoglobin got under 9, and I could not walk 10 steps without gasping for air.  Well, I finally went to the GYN who did a biopsy (she thought it was menopause also).  The biopsy did not hurt at all and was over in a flash. Well. I had uterine cancer.  I was scheduled for surgery ASAP.  They did a TAH-BSO, omentectomy, and took out my lymph nodes, and anything else that usually take out.  I was told it was at its early stages and was given a very minimal chance of it becoming anything else.  That all happened 2 years ago this coming June. I took 2 weeks off work and then had to come back, as that is all the PTO I had.  It took me a while longer to get back to normal, as my hemoglobin got down to below 7, and it took months to get my regular strength back.  Be sure not to wait long to take care of ANYTHING.  I could have saved myself 2 years of grief.  Hope all will be well for you.
Except bleeding again this week- sm
after I bled all last week, tapered off/stopped over the weekend, and started up again with a vengence today, woke up to a mess this morning. No sex since all this started either. So, no clue what normal perimenopausal symptoms are, but if this is what this is it sucks. Got horribly nauseous and dizzy on Friday as well, don't think I am bleeding heavy enough for anemia but who knows, felt fine since then though.
Bud's hub hid his & ended up bleeding to death from

bleeding dog: tore off toenail, what to do?
there was a lot of blood, i applied pressure to get it to stop.  she managed to tear off the entire little toenail on her back foot.  i then applied peroxide and tried bandaging it, but she won't leave the bandage on.  i don't feel this is a huge medical emergency, but i'm new to this dog business.  also, i hate to admit this, but i cannot afford a trip to the emergency vet (could put it on credit if truly necessary).  don't know what else to do --- anyone?
Most vaginal bleeding is NOT d/t cancer.
Often it's related to hormonal changes associated with menopause, thyroid problems or even obesity.

It's not unusual for a woman in her 40s to develop irregular or prolonged periods, but you need to be aware of blood loss over time. When my mother was a few years older than you she had an episode of vaginal bleeding between periods that lasted for a couple of weeks. At some point she started feeling weak and asked me to take her to the ER, which I did. She had an emergent D&C and was sent home with iron pills, and that was that. She never had another period and had completed menopause lol.

Cervical cancer is highly treatable and even in invasive stages doesn't necessarily require hysterectomy or chemo. I've had 2 friends with invasive cervical carcinoma; both had only conization procedures and both are well years after the fact.

You're doing what you're supposed to do by following up with your doctor, but until then try to keep things in perspective and not worry!

Astilbe, bleeding heart and columbine
are a few more.

Remember that some hostas are huge - 2 or 3 of the big size will soon be all your tub could hold, so look for the little ones. When shade gardening, I always like to choose some bright greens or plenty of varigation, and there are plenty of hostas like that. Japanese ferns are colorful, also.

Have fun. I know I'd overload a tub. I have no self-control with plants.
pregnancy
I tend to agree with NM poster below because the very first time I got pregnant I told everyone right away and everyone went nuts with excitement, especially the grandmothers to be.  Then about 2 1/2 months into my pregnancy I miscarried and had to explain to everyone, and they had to explain to everyone.  It was really depressing.  I had what they called a "blighted ovum" which means the division of cells never really went very far.  So the next time I got pregnant, I waited until after the three month mark.  I later found out most miscarriages occur within the first three months.  Good question, by the way.  Are you pregnant for the first time?
My MIL did- every other pregnancy - has 2 kids - sm
Had a son, miscarried on preg#2, had another son, miscarried on preg#4 - no clue if there was a specific reason. I also know someone who miscarried 5 x and the 6th time she was able to carry the baby to full-term. In her case it was her pelvic bones, they just were not strong enough to carry a baby and she would not stay in bed (had to have bed rest the whole time in order to carry the baby), either she finally listened to her Dr. after 5 miscarriages or her bones got stronger (she was rather young 18-22 during all this). I have no idea if she has had more kids as we lost touch.
I also had googled a TL with my last pregnancy...
5 years ago to research it and had found that informative site. It scared me into not doing it and glad I didn't. I'm on the Pill and hardly get a period, plus it lowers your chances of getting cervical cancer due to not ovulating. I would say no to doing it. I feel bad for the women who have.
intrauterine pregnancy
isn't this such a silly phrase? it hit me tonight...where else would your pregnancy be? LOL
Pregnancy question.

Hello everyone.

I had a question for all you mothers out there. I'm just around the 8 month mark and i was just wondering if anybody had any good tips about sleeping!  I don't want to spend the $50 or whatever it is for one of those body pillows so i thought i'd see how everyone else who didn't want to spend the money was creative enough to get through the night.

Thanks!

Another pregnancy question.

I'm 32 weeks and sometimes when i'm sitting perfectly still on the couch or something the baby moves and i can hear a snapping sound, like when you bend down and your knee snaps. It's not quite as loud but it's still there. I was wondering if anyone else heard this?! I'm assuming it's my skin stretching or something because i can't imagine the baby has joints popping! lol it just seemed a little weird and just wondering if anyone else has heard of this.

- Thanks!

No uterus , no pregnancy I would think???- sm
sounds kind of weird. She sounds like a flake. I'd offer to go with her to her OB and try and get the skinny on that one!
Concerning post below about possible pregnancy...
Guess what!  I am pregnant.  I took 2 tests today and both turned out positive.  I am so happy but I am now worrying about health coverage.  I do not have any medical insurance.  What kind of coverage can I get when I am already pregnant?  Please please any advice is much appreciated.  Thanks!!!
Bloating during pregnancy!
I truly hope that one of you have some words of wisdom for me.  I'm 7 wks pregnant and my biggest problem is bloating.  If I don't eat, I literally get nauseated and want to throw up.  When I eat, I feel okay until a few minutes after I eat and then I feel bloated like crazy.  I can't hardly wear my jeans for the bloating because it makes me feel miserable.  I never had this problem with my first pregnancy. I haven't even gained any weight and so I know I'm not just porking out and getting fat.  This is all bloat.  ARGH!  Please help!!!  Any helpful suggestion?
I'm pregnant - 5 weeks along, 1st pregnancy....sm
My husband & I are thrilled that we conceived so quickly, especially with my being 43 and him being 50.  We got married in June and started trying then.  His 15-year-old daughter and our 6-year-old foster daughter are excited.  Next year will be fabulous as we'll be finalizing the adoption of our foster daughter in January and having a baby in June!
Boy - this is so variable. With my first pregnancy, hate to
tell you, I was sick the "whole 9 months", even the day he was born. Every morning at work I had saltine crackers and coke for breakfast(Ugh)as that was the only thing that calmed my stomach down. My two previous pregnancies, I had no morning sickness !
changing your OB in the last month of pregnancy?

I was just wondering if anyone here had any experience with changing your OB in the last month of pregnancy? Or if anyone knows anyone who changed their OB late in pregnancy?

Without going into too many details, my OB was away on a personal emergency this week and her partner was not in the office due to the holiday. I was having some problems this week and I needed an OB on Friday. I called but my OB's office only had a recorded message. There was no answering service. So I stuck it out until Satruday and went to the emergency room at the hospital where I was supposed to be delivering this baby. The Triage Nurse at the hospital was so awful and mean to me that I burst into tears and stormed out of there. She didn't flat out refuse me medical attention, but she gave me such a hard time about being there that she made me feel very uncomfortable, and in so many words she forced me out. She was the nastiest most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with in the healthcare industry. DH agrees.

So now DH and I are totally turned off to that hospital and I don't feel comfortable at all delivering there. Fortunately for us, we have 2 other excellent hopsitals close to our house. The problem is, my OB only delivers out of the hospital where I had this incident. So I was thinking of changing back to my old OB for the end of the pregnancy. He delivered my nephew and my sister said she liked him and had no problems with him. But he has not dealt with me pregnant. I just went to him for 2 annual checkups several years ago, then decided to change over to my current OB because my sisters and friends raved about her.

And it's really been a textbook pregnancy -- no problems with me or the baby. He would just need my records sent to him, and he'd need to know that I will be a scheduled c-section. Really at this point all I need is for someone to go in there and get the baby out for me.

Any advice? Do you think he would refuse my case since I'm 35 weeks already? The whole incident is unfortunate, and I love my OB, but I am so turned off to the hospital that I'd be willing to go with another OB just to be able to deliver out of another hospital where we'll feel comfortable and taken care of.

Very few rapes result in pregnancy. So now what?

Anyone ever been really heavy and have a healthy pregnancy? sm
Well I am at 325 and pregnant.  Yes, I am tall but still that weight is very, very disgusting.  I wonder how I got to this place.  But I am so worried about my weight affecting the baby. The baby was nto planned - was a complete surprise.  A welcome surprise though. But I never thought I would be able to get pregnant while being this heavy.  I don't why I thought that but I truly did.  I am just wondering if anyone has been really overweight and how it affected your pregnancy. The doctors don't really see any harm in it, or so they say, but I am still a bit worried.  Thanks for all input.  I am getting the Lap band after I have the baby. I want to be healthy for my family after this and it seems like a reasonable option.  Thanks everyone.  Have a great Thanksgiving!
I was "only" 65 lbs overweight with 2nd pregnancy...
but I was so horribly ill with 24-hour morning sickness that I walked out of the hospital 12 pounds lighter than I was at the beginning of my pregnancy. I certainly wouldn't recommend that method of weight loss! I was in and out of the hospital the entire time of my pregnancy for dehydration and IVs. Every moment of that pregnancy was a struggle with food; thinking about it, trying to keep it down, worrying about the baby.

In the end, it worked out. He was born 2 weeks early and was 8 lbs, 2 ozs. Within 24 hours I was eating like a horse again, and I was great while nursing for 6 months. But eventually, the glory days of eating and not gaining weight were gone. Now, 17 years after that pregnancy, I'm 80 pounds overweight. Sigh.

how much did u gain from swelling in pregnancy?

I am almost 37 weeks along with my first child (girl!). I have gained a third of my pregnancy weight in the last month due to giant man feet and ankles. Yuck! I haven't worn my wedding ring for months-the hands were swollen first, but then came the feet. I had to wear my new found velcro strap sandles to my anniversary dinner this week. I had on a lovely skyblue knit dress with a beautiful blue topaz necklace my husband bought as an anniversary gift, and it was all topped off with my velcro summer sandles.  I just had to giggle at myself, but really when no other shoe fits what are you supposed to do?

Does anyone else have some good stories so I know I'm not alone? Thanks.

Does it matter what time of day you take a pregnancy test??/

i've read that morning time is the best, but does it really matter?  i'm 37, had a tubal after my second pregnancy six years ago.  i'm a week and a half late.  i've never been this late before.  i figured i'd start with taking a home pregnancy test first.  i'm anxious to take it and don't want to wait until tomorrow, but heard morning time was the best time.

thanks

12-year old girl forced to take pregnancy test due to school rumor

NEVADA CITY, Calif. -- A 12-year-old girl was forced to take a pregnancy test at school in Nevada City, a lawsuit filed in Nevada County Superior Court alleges.

The Pacific Justice Institute, which is representing the girl, said in a news release that Steve Davis, a counselor at Seven Hills Middle School, pulled the girl out of class.

KCRA 3 has decided not to name the girl out of protection for her privacy.

Davis heard rumors that she was pregnant and wanted to know if it was true, the release said.

Though she denied it and told Davis a classmate had spread rumors about her in the past, the counselor got a pregnancy test from the school nurse and told the 12-year-old to give a urine sample, the Pacific Justice Institute said.

The pregnancy test was negative.

According to the news release, the girl was embarrassed and humiliated, and her parents were angry when they found out.

They worked with the Pacific Justice Institute to get an apology from the Nevada City School District, but didn't receive one.

The lawsuit, filed Oct. 29, 2008, seeks damages for violation of the girl's right to privacy and emotional distress.

"There is no merit in the claim," Superintendent Roger Steel said. He directed further questions to the district's attorney.

Reached at home Monday night, Davis said he had no comment on the lawsuit.

wow. several months for TAT...wish we had that!--nm

Nine months later?

That's unreal. I would be interested to hear his explanation after your phone call. If you cancelled the appointment you should not have been billed, much less that amount. Good luck with that one!

Definitely let him do it. It's only for a few months.
It must be awful to spend that much time driving every day, and gas is so expensive right now. Just let him do it. It's only until spring, and it will make things so much easier on him.
When my son was 9 MONTHS old SM

we lived in South Carolina, and his daycare center asked me to sign a form giving them permission to spank him if he misbehaved.  He was a BABY and they wanted to spank him!  Holy Cow!  I refused to sign it and took my son out of their daycare, but it was legal there (this was 14 years ago...not sure what the law is now).  But I was shocked.

I'm not anti-spanking...I just think only a parent should be able to spank their child.  Definitely not someone who doesn't love your child and who may be too heavy handed.

Chickadee

They are now - it took several months for them to
get like this. Whenever one is curled up sleeping, the other will slink over and rest their head on the other one. :)
my son will be 11 in a few months
and never had anything like this. He's very forgetful and seems to lack common sense the last year or so. He also likes to turn his back and put his head down when he doesn't like something but hsn't cried in a long time unless he's hurt.

It sounds to me like maybe other kids (or someone) is telling your son he is fat or maybe making fun of him with clothes and that's why he suddenly changes his mind about what's cool and what's not.

I know my son is really starting to look at the high school aged kids for direction on what to wear, haircuts, etc. The long hair, no shower, messy look. We have had a talk that we understand he is growing up and with that comes priviledges but also he can only "grow up" so fast and he's not 15 or 16 and will not be treated as such until then. We have also told him at his age it is our job as parent's to make sure he is clean, fed, gets good sleep and grades, has clothes, and a roof over his head...and with that means we will make sure he takes a shower and makes himself look presentable. Long hair is fine, messy-look is fine...but rolling out of bed and tossing wrinkled clothes on is not - until he's 18 and then he can do what he wants.

Maybe you could sit down and have a talk with your son and ask him about why he's so emotional and changes his mind a lot. Could also call the school guidance counselor (even anonymously) and ask if it is normal behavior or might be signaling something more going on. They are really the experts on behavior at that age and for some reason many kids will talk to them when they won't talk to their own parents.
I have been seeing one the last few months.
I was a skeptic for certain. My husband ended up in the hospital with back problems and all the doctors would do is prescribe him meds to alleviate the pain. He started going to a chiropractor looking for relieve. It took a while but they helped him tremendously. After that I decided to give it a shot. The past few months I have been going weekly because insurance would pay for a certain number of visits in a year. Now that the year is renewing I have told my chiro that I am cutting back to once a month, or as I feel I need it. I will continue to go just not regularly at 1-2 times a week. She saw nothing wrong with that.Like you I can definitely tell a difference with less stiffness, better range of motion, better sleep, etc.
I think everyone should wait at least 3 months.

22 months is not even TWO years old..sm
people keep saying that baby is 2 1/2 years old. or 3. 24 months is two years old. 36 months is three years old. People cannot even add.
Hopefully in a few months we'll both...sm
be bragging about our new babies. I haven't had morning sickness yet - didn't have it last time either, so we'll see if that develops. I'm spending my lunch hour from work napping each day and sleeping after work for a while. Hopefully I'll wake up before the baby is born in September. :o)
I waited about 7 months.
I wish I had done it sooner. I couldn't eat anything without getting sick by the time I gave in.
6 months and both hips fxd? Where'd ya get..nm
.
I took my child's away at 3 months.
A friend of mine has a 3-year-old who still *needs* it. She HAS to give it up because she walks around with it in and you can't understand her when she talks. I think it is up to the mom to take it away.
3 weddings in 3 months...
Same family; 1 in July, then 2 weeks later, then a month later....would wearing the same dress to each wedding be```tacky```?  All 3 evening weddings...so would be appropriate for each. Whatcha think?
sorry should be couple of months.
;(
daughter had one then none for six months
the it was every other month and has now settled into a regular 28 day cycle. But occasionally when she is super active she will miss but its all normal.
I quit 3 months ago!
I feel great! I can even be around others and not have a craving. I am just starting to be bothered by the smell.

GOOD LUCK! YOU CAN DO IT!!
I got my Wii at Target 2 months ago
They seem to be getting more and more in lately. I HATE Walmart.
Just started a few months ago
And I love it. It's very easy to deal with, since you brush on such a tiny bit at a time. I start with the big brush, then use the middle one to go over where I need more coverage. If you have very dry skin, I can see where it might be a problem, but that's not me. I do try to avoid putting it on heavily where I have crow's feet around my eyes, because I think maybe it does make them more prominent.

And don't let that video scare you - they make it look like you'd be putting on 40 coats of this stuff or something. I just use the basic color, some of the warmth and then the mineral veil. I don't think you need anything more.

Finally got rid of one after several months

Had to buy a cage trap online and bait it.  Eventually got lucky and put something in there it was in the mood to eat, and it didn't manage to spring the trap that time.  BF took it for a ride and released it somewhere far away.

Now there's a possum looking to get in....maybe I need to get a dog, my house seems to attract critters.

After 6 months of looking and living
like a pauper I am now pretty happy in the new job I have. I am also behind on every bill in the house! Has anyone used a credit counseling service to help them with debt and paying off everything to get their credit back on track? I want to use a legitimate company and not worsen my situation more than it is. Thanks everyone.
