I had a similar reaction from a tiny dose of nortriptyline - sm

the doc had prescribed to try to control my chronic migraines. I took like less than half of one pill, about 1/4 the dose the doc intended me to taper up to. I took it a 10:30 pm on a Friday night. The next morning I didn't wake up 'til almost noon, and was totally, UTTERLY stoned. Coffee didn't help. No-doz didn't help. Finally felt sober enough to drive, and headed off for Lake Tahoe that afternoon (the original plan had been to go at about 9 AM), only to realize that I was still a bit on the stoned side, and didn't remember most of the 150-mile drive there! Aaaagggh! Went to bed early that night (WITHOUT the nortriptyline this time) and finally felt halfway normal by the next day.
Man - if I had to be on that stuff, I'd have lost my job for sure. Not only would I have not been able to DO my job (was an in-house MT at the time), but I most likely wouldn't have even remembered I HAD a job to go to!
The doc said I would have eventually 'gotten used to it' and not had such a drowsy reaction, but couldn't give me a time frame for that happening. I just didn't have the time to live that way, so told her it wasn't an option.
Needless to say, I threw away the rest of the contents of that bottle. Thank goodness Imitrex was on the market in tablet form about a year later. THAT worked like a charm on the migraines, and totally changed my life.

PS: ? Ask to Rx one dose? sm
I just read the post about the adverse reaction and I would highly recommend asking that one dose or one pill be prescribed at a time. I know of a case where the patient picked up one pill every day. I think this can be done but am not sure. I can identify with this as my younger sister had a violent reaction to a pill to treat lung cancer and she ended up on a respirator. Before she went on, the pulmonologist asked her permission to write this adverse reaction up in a medical journal and she said, "Yes, please do." The oncologist threw a fit and disagreed. I doubt it was ever published. Good decision or stock in the company, who knows?? Sometimes it's such a very, very difficult place to be in. Always, always ask about clinical trials who will usually take on patients who agree to a trial for much less or free. In an 80-year-old talked about in this post, it must be even harder. My sister died at age 60, diagnosed at 59, never did recover from that bad reaction. She was not "ready" and it was sad. Think out all options, the hardest thing in the world to do! Let's weigh all the pro's and con's and pray if so inclined.
but it's harder to dose
I think if there were a pill, I might feel differently, but I am against people smoking pot in the name of medicine. There are other drugs to combat nausea and such, without the high. I really think it's just a big excuse for people to get high and that is what I am against. I can tell that the majority here disacrees with me and that's okay, too, but I figured that instead of a bunch of one sided posts, perhaps the OP would like to hear from someone on the other side. Maybe not...
It all depends on the dose and how often given. An occasional
aspirin will not kill a dog, but even a small dose given on a regular basis will kill a dog.
When I was switched to Armour, my dose--sm
was also lower, as they tend to start you low, just as they did with synthroid, and then increase it slowly until you reach your best level where your TSH levels normalize. I hated this part, as it was like starting all over again, but you'll get there sooner than you think. Also Armour comes in different measurments, so some docs are not sure how to change over from mcg to mg. Keep him advised of your symptoms and maybe he will raise the level a little sooner. At present time, I am at 120 mg of Armour.
Can you tell me how to take it or what dose. Do you take it all the time or just when the blister
is there.
maybe a dose of Pam 'll make em

Started on small dose of Amitriptyline, OMG
I have fibromyalgia and went to a rheumatologist yesterday. He started me on, what he said, very small dose of Amitriptyline as he said they have found sometimes this helps with the intense pain you have from fibro. He said I would be a little drowsy this morning. Drowsy? I could not lift my head off the pillow. I usually get up around 7 or 8 and this morning was trying to drag out at 10:30 wishing someone around to give me a strong cup of coffee. Does anyone else take this, any ideas about how to take, earlier in the evening before bedtime so as to not be so droopy the next day, anything?
How long dose it take a bruise to fade?
Three days ago I hit my eye on the corner of my nightstand while picking something up off the floor. I did not black my entire eye but the corner of the upper and lower eyelid turned purple. It was just a bit darker than my eyeshadow and looked like I went a little overboard with makeup on that eye and smudged it down below my eye. Today it is worse. I thought bruises were supposed to lighten and then turn ugly greenish-brown. I have holiday parties starting tonight all through the weekend. I don't even want to leave the house.
I just gave an attorney a dose of their own medicine....sm
A good friend of mine is a general surgeon, and when his secretary is on vacation they forward the phones to me to answer. His attorney has the usual attorney mentality of charging my friend for phone time each time he calls and asks about a legal issue, yet he doesn't hesitate to call my surgeon friend and want free advice about a potential medical malpractice case or auto injury case. I got my surgeon friend convinced that we needed to put a stop to this. Sure enough, the attorney called a while ago and I asked him if he was calling in regards to anything my friend had him working on. He said no - that he wanted to just bounce a potential case off of him. I told him that there would be a consulting fee of $200 an hour for the surgeon's time. My surgeon friend was in the office and was cracking up as I gave the attorney the message. The attorney asked me why he was going to charge him - and I told him that it was because he always charges the surgeon for his time! He decided he didn't want to pay.
Morning dose of American Idol
I am very pleased with the ones they chose last night. Hey that Titana is really talented but I feel she will have to let go of the theatricals and all that scene making if she wants to get the votes. She has a really good voice. I love Danny (guy who lost his wife) but his friend was so good and yet he did not make. Why not him instead of the raven-haired blue eyed girl (think her name was Joanna (the one who totally messed up every time she got in front of anyone and cried also, think she was recognized by Kara right out of the box and has put out an album??, what's up with that?). I am surprised by the voice of Mr. Swish-Swish, the guy who is all out there and drama queen but excellent voice. He had a singoff and I cannot remember his name. Desai (the first one picked) is my choice for the winner take all this year. I love that Norman or is it Nick make it through. He changes his name like he changes his clothes. Mother of 3, Lil is very good and that big ole oil rig guy, Michael, well he is just a teddy bear and should play good with the audience with his "yes mam" when talking with Kara. He is a southern guy (seems like) through and through. Today is daily dose time. What do you think about last night?
Your reaction is disturbing . . .
... and surprising to me that you show no strong emotion as to the implication here. Those dogs killed domesticated cats. That should never be taken lightly. In some parts of the country, it's criminal and owners are held liable. For you not to address the issue immediately, and for your sister-in-law to treat the situation so lightly is strange to me. Think about it. Next time those dogs can bite a child, a person, or continue to kill. Responsible ownership of a pet should not be taken lightly, and you and your sister-in-law are lacking here. Discuss the situation at once and come to a remedy that will prevent this from ever happening again.
I had exactly the same reaction! Kept waiting - sm
for her to 'come alive' and really dance. I think it probably came back to bite her, since Helio won the whole thing, and deservedly so.

I did think of Tiny Tim, but I thought it
was adorable too. I got to hear Jason's performance on the radio this morning, and I loved hearing him in my car. It was a great song for him. Just loved it.
I didn't particularly like David Cook's song, but I thought he performed it well.
I agree that Kristy gave her best performance, but why don't I care to hear her? I switched over to The Biggest Loser and have yet to watch the David A. I thought Syesha was good. I can't remember what Brooke did, but I wasn't overly impressed. Didn't hate it either. I was surprised that the tattoed girl from Ireland fell apart for a second when she caught the look on Simon's face. I didn't love the song, but I still think she's great.
Have you seen this tiny little girl?

I had a different reaction when I found my husband sm
surfing. He never leaves his email open but he did just this 1 time (it's password protected) so I looked at his email and he was getting messages from an adult sex matches website. In the email, it had his "profile name." So the next day, looked up the website and I had to join just to see his profile, so I joined. There he was, no picture but what he was looking for in a woman, etc. So I printed it out. It is now in a safe place. He doesn't know that I know and I'm not spilling the beans until I file for divorce. And I'm not surprised about the website because we met on a match.com. I know I'm emotionally abused by the way he puts me down, tells me it's his way or the highway. He told me last week if I ever cheated on him or divorced him, he would "F" me up and destroy me. BUT he said if he cheated on me and I found out, that I'd have to get over it. So I'm getting a plan together, stashing some $$ because I'm not going to live like this. Like Dr. Phil asks "would you rather be alone and healthy or sick with somebody."
Should I be worried about my 8 year-old's reaction? sm
Last night my 11 year old son and 8 year old daughter were watching one of those rescue shows on TV....they had just show a little girl being found safely on the beach after wandering a couple of miles away from her parents. Then they started the story of an 11 or 12 year old boy....I had no idea they would ever have a rescue show on TV if it had been unsuccessful but the boy died! My daughter was devastated. It was almost bedtime, no less, so I held her a while and she cried and I consoled her. Then I took her to tuck her in and said prayers and sang to her like every night...but she told me she was feeling really strange inside because of the show she had seen. I tried to calm her down by staying with her and rubbing her back and continuing to sing but she started shaking really hard...and continued to shake. I told her that I had looked up the story on the internet and that it wasn't a true story (a lie to try to make her feel better), and she was glad, but she continued to shake. So I took her to the other room and rocked her for about an hour (which of course I have not done much of in the last 7 years or so). She fell asleep and then I went to put her in her bed and she started shaking again. The shaking was so bad that I could feel it through her covers!! She is just a tiny little girl! She said the shaking was so bad it was making her legs and back hurt :( I ended up taking her to my room and letting her sleep with me but I am concerned that she would get upset to that point. I know the show was sad, but is it normal for a child to shake like that? It really scared me!
allergic reaction to snobs
In this "economic environment" I find it really hard to put up with the pecking order of snobbery, when I know these people are doing terrible financially. How do you reform a snob, especially one that doesn't even have enough money to eat?
Anyone have a cat with reaction to rabies shot?
Has anyone here had an experience with their cat having a reaction to their rabies shot booster? My 4-year-old Persian just had a rabies booster 2 weeks ago at a new vet's office. (Just moved - have only been going there for about a year). My guess is they use a different brand or manufacturer of vaccine than my old one did.)
Yesterday morning, exactly 2 weeks after getting her shot and seeming just fine, I found a large, 2x2 cm lump on my cat's right lower hindquarter. Thinking it was a hair mat, I put on my glasses for a better look. It wasn't a mat; instead, it was a subcutaneous lump that felt similar to a lipoma, but was firmer, not as soft and squishy as a lipoma. She had also vomited 4 times during the night -- food, not hairballs. She's never done that before.
I took her to the vet right away, and they aspirated some fluid out of the lump, looked at it in a microscope, and said she had a lot of white cells. (She also had a fever). They sent off the slides to the lab to see if this might be vaccine-associated sarcoma - something I never even knew existed until yesterday! While waiting for the lab results, she's on an antibiotic, as well as an anti-inflammatory for 5 days.
So, I got on the internet and did some research about these vaccine-related sarcomas, and would advise any cat-owner to do the same thing. The information I found was NOT encouraging! Did you know that the occurrence of these sarcomas has been increasing since the early 90's, when they started making adjuvant (more inflammatory) rabies vaccines? The sarcomas are VERY aggressive in cats. (I had a former cat die in only 7 months after a mastectomy for breast ca. with adenosarcoma.) They think some cats may be predisposed to developing sarcomas at the site of injection for both rabies and the feline leukemia / FIP vaccines. The rescue where I adopted my cat advises its adopters not to get the leukemia/FIP vaccine, so I don't get that one. But this is the first I've heard about the rabies shot being dangerous, as well.
My reading brought to light the fact that vets almost always give the rabies shot as distally as possible in the RIGHT rear quarter. The reason? If a sarcoma forms, they're very invasive, and they found that tumors from shots given between the shoulder blades or in the scruff of the neck tended to spread into the spine and lungs. (Oh, GREAT....) Even more thrilling to learn is the reason they give the shot in the lower rear quarter: It's so that if the cat gets a sarcoma, the best chance they have of prolonging the cat's life is to amputate the entire leg.
Each state differs, but in California, rabies shots for cats are recommended, but NOT mandatory. Had I known this, and about the danger of the adjuvant rabies vaccines, I would have skipped the vaccine altogether. My vet recommended that if she gets a rabies shot in the future, (which I don't intend to do with either of my strictly indoor-only cats), there is a SAFER brand - Merial "PureVax". It's a non-adjuvant vaccine that is much safer. (My guess is that it's probably more expensive, too.) It's also apparently not easy to find. My vet office doesn't use it (WHY, I don't know, since they're recommending it...), so that's just one more reason for me to say "NO" to rabies vaccines in the future. However, If I were getting a new kitten, I would make sure it got the Merial PureVax instead of the regular kind, provided it's approved for kittens. It's disadvantage is that it's given yearly, rather than q.3 years.
Anyway, regardless of whether my cat's lab tests come back positive or negative for malignancy, after what I've learned from researching feline rabies shots, I thought I'd pass the information on to everyone who's interested, so they can talk to their own vets about it and at least make a more-informed decision about vaccinations than I did!
This worked for me, but I needed such a high dose to feel it, so I stopped. Doing much

There is a tiny little link to click -

It's there, it's just small. Sorry.

I do remember hearing just a tiny bit about
Amelia Island. What makes it an old pirate town? Would LOVE to hear all about it. I'm going to put that on my list to look at visiting. You know, as far as entertainment goes - I don't care to go someplace else hundreds of miles from my home to do something that I could do in my home state so "local" things to do/places to eat are always high on my list!
This is the unknown in me coming out but is it a "true" island - do you have to take a ferry out or do you fly??
To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
It won't be making any difference. I tried a couple of techniques for my adults and very soon I came to realize they found the antidotes for them. If there are 10 sites telling how to monitor your kids, there are 1000 more telling how to escape it. Down the road you will be pushing your kids to visit those sites (full of porn banners & adult materials) and nothing else.
I had the same reaction, I was shocked....Good that it got deleted..nm

maybe your tiny tower fan inside blew.....
there are vents on the back of the tower - that periodically need brushing out, cleaning out - canned air works well in this/these areas....
there is a tiny fan inside every tower.....maybe it blew? but yes - they need AIR surrounding them - the backs of towers should not be completely blocked....

Sounds like a reaction to the surgery. The lymph nodes in our neck sm
will "activate" whenever something foreign comes near the skull or head. My son developed very large lymph nodes around both sides of his neck and we didn't know what was going on. He ended up having the chicken pox and most of the lesions were on his scalp! He had a few throughout his body, but 60% on his head. So his doc explained to us that his lymph nodes in his neck were activated because of where the pox was traveling.

Maybe it does exacerbate the problem - but I have dealt with the problem for over 13 years. I gave in for years hoping it would help. Now, I don't care if it exacerbates the problem - unless something changes in the relationship and I feel like I want to be with him in that way, I am not doing it.

I also live in a small town and we have many Indian docs and they usually bring relatives here and to run hotels and motels they have purchased. I know of one family that did this 25 years ago. A Comfort Inn right up the road from us is owned/operated by an Indian family that live in our neighborhood. Truely some of the nicest people I have ever met.
OMG! I was going to say something similar... sm
Same timeframe and same team, but off by 2 years in age. Unfortunately, my brother was home from Penn State and I gave him my Game 6 ticket. After all these years, I still slap myself on the forehead when I think about that. I was in Philly with the other million or so revelers the next day, though!
I'm doing something similar..
I live in Florida also and am planning a little weekend gettaway for myself. I know it sounds weird, but this way there will be no computer and absolutely no way I can be conned into working. I picked a fairly cheap little resort place that is right on the beach. It's not very fancy, but it has a kitchen. I want to wake up and hear the water and see the sunset at night. I did spend a little more to get a place that had more of a private beach so it would be a little quieter. Just think about the things you want to do and what is more important and then decide. Will you be at the beach more, or golfing more? Do you want more peace and quiet? Or do you want a place where kids can run around - if so golf course probably not a good idea.
Anyway, whichever you choose, have a great time!
I might have something similar
but do not really know your symptoms well. I sleep on elevated pillows (and people also told to elevate the head of their bed with reflux), know which foods bring on this such as coffee, chocolate, spicy, white rice for me, and some cereals but 1 thing I will say, the gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms are not to be taken lightly. An ongoing problem with this can cause esophageal cancer, Barrett's esophagus is a precursor to this. I would do any and all I could to make sure this is under control.
I went through something similar...
Except not on me, on my son, who I think was like 4 or 5 at the time. They wanted to put a white filling in a baby tooth, and make me pay the extra for it. So glad I didn't let them, found another dentist who put in a silver one and shortly thereafter, the tooth came out. So sorry this happened to you, but unfortunately you'll probably do more harm than good by not paying the full amount, cause they will try to ruin your credit.
maybe similar
i keep getting toe pains in one that is almost crampy-like, and really slows my steppin'. it comes and goes. I'm just afraid its arthritis, but haven't been checked...is yours crampy? would like to know if you get it figured out.
I tried something similar with my cat.
I just wanted her to stay on the deck though She did really good for about a year and then slowly stated creeping down the stairs and eventually started jumping over the side to go on a bigger adventure. Going over the side was when we had to stop letting her go out because she was so quick about it. At first we used a harness and leash and then a water bottle and would squirt her when she came to the edge and that worked very well. We just had to be out with her.
I have also seen cat runs in magazines before. They are long tubular shaped cages or enclosures (not always metal) and some you can even put up to window height so you can leave the window open or add a door so they can go freely when they like. I am not certain where I have seen it but it was one of those magazines that are full of stuff that no one really needs but make great Christmas/Birthday presents for people who have everything. lol I'm sure you could find them on the internet somewhere.
I actually have one similar to this sm
I live on my own. My house is not too big, only about 1100 sq ft. Truth is, I live in my bedroom and my livingroom, where I work. I use the kitchen too, of course. I don't use all of it all the time. My house is well insulated and the furnace runs about 4 times a hour in the dead of winter. I am heating a whole house I don't use. The only place I need warm is around my desk so my hands don't freeze up. I can't stand really bulky clothing either, though I do dress warmly. I have a space heater by the desk. It keeps the whole livingroom warmer, as a fact, but not the whole house. I keep the thermostat on the furnace kinda low.
Now, when I have company, or when it is my day off, I have a space heater with fake flame. It has a blower and blows heat into the room. It is pretty and really puts out heat. If I run that for the entire evening, the furnace doesn't run at all, even though the thermostat is 20 feet from the heater, because the room is toasty. It is electric heater versus gas furnace. The end result was that gas cost me an average of $75 a month versus $110 the year before. The electric bill went up, but not more than $20 a month. The net savings are marginal at best. The comfort increased, however.
Now, I am a little crazy sometimes, I admit it. I bought a CD with fireplace sounds. I play it as a loop (75 minutes long) when I run the *fireplace* and sound makes it feel warmer! I run the sound low enough that the TV or stereo is audible, but you'd be surprised what the sounds effects do for added warmth. I got laughed at, until I had company...
I just went thru something similar - sm
I was the one back in late August and then back on Oct. 13 or so----I had racked up a ton of debt on his and my credit cards which he knew nothing about. I finally confessed to him, he reacted pretty well considering the bomb I dropped on him. He does not want to divorce over it thank God but some amazing miracle. Obviosly your situation is a bit more complex. My DH is not that controlling. I was/am the one to get the mail, and would decide what he would see or not see, though he had no scruples about reading my mail, he would get upset if I ever read anything personal sent to him. As I know it is nothing to get bent about I let that one go. He has never cheated and even confirmed that when I confessed my deceit and financial infidelity to him. Luckily he still loves me enough to keep it together. He is trying a little more, though he has backed off doing a few things he used to around the house, I have taken on more responsibility around here, the price I have to pay I guess. I did 85% of it before, now, 95% (he used to cook dinner....now it looks like I get the pleasure of doing it from now on as he has not done it once since the 13th. Granted any reference to buying anyting is , we cannot afford it....which we can, but yes things are going to be a bit tight for the next five years, but we will manage. I have not done it yet, but Monday going to get the wheels rolling and do CCCS for my debts. His will be taken care of soon as we are selling off a bunch of mutual funds from the 401K (loan) so no penalties though with the economy we will have to sell more than we would have a few months ago which stinks. ---He is willing to economize now that he knows there is an issue though (he makes about 4x what I do). You will have to bit the bullet and confess as well. It is not easy. I wrote him a note and then left the house for a short while, then came back and we talked it all out. I figured my marriage would be over, but I think for the kids and still some feelings for me he wants to keep it all together. We have a good life together for the most part and he knows that. We do things together as a family, still have enjoyable sex once a week (took him 9 days after my confession), and are in tune with each other and the kids. Considering it he has been so good after it , you never know your husband might surprise you like mine did. He has not really made any comments for a week now, which is amazing in itself. My DH generally is the type of guy who blames everyone else for his mistakes and takes no responsibility for anything, so that is why it was such a shock that he is handling this all so well. Generally he acts like a 3-y/o and holds grudges. So it is possible your husband can be a standup guy. I guess it will depend on how much he cares for you, keeping the marriage together and not becoming a part-time dad or having to give you the house or a ton of money.....I am sure that all factored in in my situation. All I said was that no one would win in a divorce. He has been divorced before so I know he does not wnat to go thru that again, sees it as personal failure. But I feel so much better for telling him, a huge weight has been lifted. I still have a lot to get thru but the worst is over. I know my streess is still up there some, but I know longer have to worry about him finding out, etc. So you need to formulate a plan, maybe set aside some ready cash, and and tell him what is going on. You can email me if you want. I hope it all works out for you.
