I found the lights very helpful

I suffer from SAD to some degree no matter where I live, but I did not realize it until I started breeding birds as a hobby. I had a room with dozens of cages stacked together. On the two long walls, I vertically mounted two 6 foot uncovered natural lights and on the short walls I horizontally mounted two 3 foot of the same lights.
After I brought the birds their breakfast in the mornings, I would sit in the room for an hour to watch the birds' behavior. After about a year, I realized I was feeling better than I had ever felt in my life. Not only no depression, but my energy level was higher, my house stayed neater, I was better able to concentrate, I interacted better with people...
My work space is now located next to a sliding glass door and I keep the curtains pulled back all day every day. If you want to go look into the lights before you buy, a good source is in a pet shop in the lizard/snake/aquarium area where natural lights are sold in different strengths and shapes. They are NOT cheap, but the ones in pet shops last a long time and you should find something that would blend into your home. If you can't find them in the pet shop, look for a magazine like Bird Talk online and go to the merchandise/advertiser section for a distributor.

Yes it is. I have heard L lysine helps this. Has anyone tried that at all and found it helpful.

I wish I could be more helpful
I think your best bet would be a quick call to a vet.
Very helpful!
We are actually seriously considering homeschooling our 6-year-old next year, and I've been trying to figure out how to make it work and keep my job at the same time. Right now, I work a lot, full-time plus. It really helped me to read how you go about your day with homeschool and with work.
this was not helpful and not necessary

Not helpful, but...sm
Wanted to say, hope your foot feels better soon. I asked my mom's doc about it for my mom and was told the recovery phase "could take a while." As she is in her 80s, we opted not to have it done. Assuming you are younger, perhaps your recovery time will be speedy.

Yes, I think as time goes by, my daughter will change her mind about things. . Her father also had a lot of African things - he lived in Nigeria when he was 12 - his dad was helping set up a University system there - and she has shown no interest in any of the African art, etc. . I also - by way of her - inherited those items. . I am storing them and I think she will want them some day.
As I understand it, we can just bury the ashes in a small container - which they are in now. . I really think that is the best idea, and then we can get a headstone too. . that is what I am leaning toward. . I will discuss it with her this weekend. I personally have always loved cemetaries - my step grandfather was caretaker of one and we grew up there, so to speak. . some people are afraid of them but like he always said "those people aren't going to bother you, it's the living you have to watch out for". . I think it is very peaceful. . I go there just to think sometimes.
Just being helpful I think sm
I get a little pushy too when I'm trying to help. Perhaps she felt the sales lady would be a great help in trying to help you get the best buy for your money. She probably picked up on the fact that your hubby wouldn't give you that type of gift card unless he wanted you to look "sexy" and was trying to help. She didn't want to mention that you have a little weight problem (we all go there sometimes) and perhaps thought the sales lady could best help you show off your best assets. Being a pushy helper myself, I always mean very well, I just get a little carried away. She probably felt like she was helping, not hurting. I've never gotten a VS gift card, so I think he had an ulterior motive - wants you to be more romantic perhaps??? Give her another chance.
Well THAT was helpful...lol nm

What I find very helpful is
acidophilus capsules. I take the capsules daily (usually two) at 1 billion live organisms in two pills. It is stated to promote intestinal health and microflora balance which can lead to cold sores. I used to get them every summer when I would get sunburned. Now that I take them daily, I may get one but it goes away fairly quick if I keep on schedule with the capsules.
Thank you! Very helpful info. Exactly what I was looking for. nm

Thanks for that helpful input...
Yoga would be helpful. Very relaxing. SM
Jane Fonda has a DVD with light aerobics and stress reduction. Skip the aerobics and go directly to the stress reduction. Really excellent.
You're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful (nm)

This actually references some statute information that might be relevant to your case. I just skimmed through it, but this might be helpful.
Just a helpful hint for a good snack SM
that is low in calories, no fat, etc. Baby food! I buy the jars of pears and Blueberry Buckle. It makes a geat snack and is good for you and has helped me lose weight. I know it sounds funny, but it tastes great!!
Though it doesn't work for everyone, feverfew can often be helpful. sm
It won't stop a migraine in progress, or lessen its severity, but when taken on a regular basis (and generally after taking it for a period of time) many (including me) feel that it dramatically reduced the number of migraines one gets.
3-way lights
They do now make them for 3-way lights. They are hard to find, but they are out there.
lights
We put ours up every year. We only leave them on for about 2-3 hours a night and not every night. We do it because our kids love them.

I use hooks and bread ties.
Christmas Lights
Did you know that Orthodox Christians around the world do not celebrate Christmas until January 7th? (We call it Nativity). We then keep our decorations up until Theophany, which is the baptism of Christ, which happens to be today. Just thought you might appreciate a view from a different angle.
got my new one - 1300 lights on a 7-1/2
I posted earlier about prelit trees. Ordered one from Home Depot because it was free shipping and delivered to my home since I have no way of getting a huge box home. I always got a skinny one - but this year everyone is gone but me so I figured it could take up the whole living room! It is stunning!
We don't do christmas lights. Instead we
do halloween decorations. We have more fun with that and it helps that halloween usually falls during a time when our energy bills are normally the lowest for the year.
After all these years, the love lights are
burning stronger than ever.
Those low-mounted driving lights that - (sm)
illuminate both sides of the road are really helpful on dark country roads at night, and in the rain, too. They help me see puddles of deeper water, especially those along the side of the road that can get you spun around if just one front tire hits them. They're also good if you're watching for deer, pedestrians, etc.
I've learned a few tricks that help improve night driving vision:
First, if your windshield is pitted, replace it. The pits diffuse bright lights and make it hard to see.
Keep your headlights, tail-lights & turn-indicator lights clean so they'll be as bright as possible.
If I've been doing a long drive from daylight into night, especially if headed into the sunset, I'll wear sunglasses that are as dark as possible during bright daylight. Once the sun sets, I'll switch to more lightly tinted ones and wear them for as long as I can to help get my eyes better adjusted to the dark.
Once it's pretty dark, I usually take a break at a service station, and in addition to the slight rest I get from topping off the tank, I also take that opportunity to get my windshield as clean as possible - inside and out.
Next I'll wipe off my driving glasses, and finally, use some "Clear Eyes" eye drops in my eyes.
Finally, a sort of "last resort" trick I use to improve my vision right after passing an oncoming car with very bright headlights is to close one eye for a few seconds as the on coming car is within a certain distance. That way the iris in that eye doesn't have to readjust as much as the one that was blinded by the oncoming headlights.
All of those things make driving at night a little easier.
Anyone not putting up Christmas lights?
I usually make a big to-do out of having the house and yard lit up, but this year I don't think I'm going to. The few hours they are on a night sure packs a punch on the electric bill. How bout everyone else?
I live in the boonies, have never put up lights nm

putting up Xmas lights
Sorry if this may seem really dumb but I've never done this before - how do you attach the lights to siding on a house around windows and doors? It's not wood siding, it's an older home with aluminum siding.
Christmas lights and decorations up after New Year's!
We always take ours down New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. Our neighbors still have theirs out (lawn decorations and everything) and up until just a week ago they were still turning them on at night! Ugh! It also bugs me when people leave the Christmas lights on their houses year-round. I love the holidays and I love having my Christmas stuff out, but when the holidays are over, so are my decorations!
sorry...pot lights or high hats over the mantle...nm

I'm going to turn out the lights, lock up the house, -
and instead of doing the trick-or-treat thing, am going on a Halloween night costumed inline skate through the streets of S.F. with my skate-buddies. Most likely WE will eat the candy I originally bought! ;)
Wow! Those glowing eyes fit right into the tree lights!

We went to the local botanical gardens for the lights - sm

DH went to bed about 11 and slept through. Okay evening for the most part. No hangover.....haven't done that for years.

my mom is always telling me about Friday Night Lights
That is one of those that I didn't start watching from the beginning and never want to just cut in in the middle.
i saw a preview for it the other day and went wish i would have watched that one... my mom is ALWAYS like i can't believe youre not watching that one!!
must be pretty good? But is it not a high school show? i thought it was like a 90210 kind of show, and im too old for that! :)
I soooo love Friday Night Lights, except sm
they are actucally putting it on Friday Nite. I am afraid that many people that watch this show actucally go to Friday nite hight school football. My hubby and son always go see our high school team play. I just don't want them to have low ratings and get dropped.
Friday Night Lights and Brothers and Sisters, love them!NM

As soon as I found out
I was really excited because we weren't planning on having a second child so as soon as I found out I told everyone. Thankfully all went well. I would think it would be up to the individual. My friend never told anyone until she was 5 months or so along because she had suffered a miscarriage earlier and was having some symptoms that she was worried about.
found these...
Nestle chocolate (like chocolate milk)
Neopolitan ice cream
nachos (don't know how much kiddies will like those though)
I never found out as a kid.
I guess I was really lucky, because no other kids ever told me about Santa and I never questioned it with my parents. I guess I knew at a certain age, but I don't recall what age it was (probably well into my teens).
My kids are 14, 10, and 8 and they all still believe. They tell me that some of their friends say Santa doesn't exist, but they don't believe their friends. My kids think it's sad that they don't believe in Santa.
I don't think kids need to be told about Santa. At some point they'll figure it out on their own, if not now then when they have their own kids!!!
I think we found it...
Thank you to all of you who shared some great ideas. As many of you I considered the baby monitors, however, I was trying to think of all the "what-if's" and was worried that if she fell going down the hall to the bathroom in the middle of the night, she might not be close enough to a monitor in a nearby room to make enough "noise" to get our attention, especially considering she is still somewhat short of breath following the surgery..might not have enough wind in her to be able to yell out for help. I did find what I think we need and am going to RadioShack tomorrow to check it out. It had some great reviews from people that have purchased it for much the same reason..to alert someone else in the house instead of a pricey call center..however, does still give her the cability of reaching 911 if we happen to not be home at the time. Thanks again for everyone who took the time to post a response. If the product below (I hope the link works) is not what we need we will look further into some of the other posts. And if anyone else out there finds themselves or a family member in the same situation (we will hope not), then this might be something to keep in mind.
Wish you all a very merry Christmas with your families.

I FOUND IT....Thanks for your help!!
I went back to Google and typed in toothpaste commercials. it took going through a couple pages, but I came across a Rembrandt toothpaste site and someone else mentioned the hot and steamy commercial. The song is *Waterfall* by Griffin House! Guess what I am buying this afternoon!
so thanks again for the suggestion. I never would have found it otherwise! yippee
this is what I found about
I googled posttubal ligation syndrome and found this info...hope it helps. I have heard some doctors refer to posttubal syndrome when talking about a patient's heavy menses after a TL...just something to think about. I wasn't aware of this when I had mine 8 years ago, but boy believe me, if I had known, there's no way I would have had it done...
A study in Britain followed 374 posttubal patients and found that 43% had subsequent gynecological treatment for such conditions as heavy menstrual bleeding, menstrual disturbances requiring hormonal treatments, cervical erosion, ovarian tumors, and recanalization of the fallopian tubes requiring a second operation.
Another British study of tubal ligation found a 40% increase in menstrual blood loss; 26% of the group experienced increased menstrual pain. Women who had used the Pill before their tubal ligation reported more of these complaints than other patients.
Re found Dad
You might want to contact him, if for no other reason than family medical history. It is important for all of us to know what kind of illnesses are in our family. For instance, I didn't know until 2 weeks ago that my grandfather had had bleeding ulcers when he was a young man and had to have part of his stomach removed. I found out when the doctor was asking me about family history of ulcers. My mother, all 3 of my brothers, and myself all have had problems with our stomachs with gastritis, reflux, etc. It seems that there is some kind of a hereditary issue; the doctor thinks maybe a hypergastric nerve or somekind of genetic thing. It's something to think about.
Found it!!! Thanks again :) nm

Found out that is exactly what I have, the
Bakelite, 2 braclets and 1 that is ?? Went on line and found out might also have a cameo ring from Mother that could possibly be the same thing. I have an old radio from my father and found that Bakelite used in older radios. Found a pearl pin with gold behind it that could also be worth $$$. The second Tuesday of each month is an antique sellers delight close by my home, loads of stuff including jewelry. I am going there this next time and ask for advice on the price of my items. I definitely will not include these in the community yard sale, figured they were worth something as I knew a little about the older jewelry. I will not sell to the people at the antique place before I get several appraisals. Thanks for all this, otherwise I might have made a BIG mistake!
Not that they have found but
the police, apparently from the bodily fluids they say they have gotten, show she is dead and also apparently showing large quantities of this medicine in the fluids. This is really interesting case.
