I find all here giving very good information

No one raked her over the coals- where do you get that idea? She asked for and I think got very good input. No one was out of sorts here except the very last posting.

You have some good information here--sm
but I did see in your list some of the very pet foods that are being recalled...science diet and nutro, for two of them, but I have kitty cats and I don't know too much about the dog food part.

It was me that mentioned the vets not being nutritionists nor experts on what to feed a pet. I don't think anyone is particularly blaming any one manufacturer over another. This all came about when someone said that Iams was offering free pet food and I suggested that it was probably the stuff that got recalled. So, I guess it could be construed as a slam against Iams, which I have never liked, nor science diet either. This recall has just opened a lot of peoples eyes as to what may or not be included in our pets foods. I guess that could be a good thing, except for the loss of precious life in the finding out part. So far, my kitty food has not even been mentioned in the recall, but my senses for watching for anything wrong with my kitties is extremely high. Personally I think I am skeptical of pretty much most store bought food these days. I just hope it gets totally resolved soon.
I think you got some good information above
I definitely would take the doggie and try to fix him a home for bad weather (rain, cold and the like). Make sure if outside doggie to be sure and keep him clean water and his food and he should be alright with your type of weather. Good luck! I would love to have weiner dog.
Thanks for all the good information, this is what I have decided
Next year I start drawing over $500.00 per month on a retirement fund (from the hospital that outsourced us). I still wanted to keep working. My thing was I knew before full retirement that SS took away part of the money you make and after full retirement age you can make any and all without them taking away. I want to work after full, draw the retirement starting in 04/2008 and then wait until the full retirement (03/2009) and then I will have the full money. I do not want to quit working, just wanted to see what everyone thought about taking a % off if you took SS before your regular retirement age.he Thanks everyone for all the info.
some information on American Idol and why the good singers voted off
I have just read this this morning on a news channel. Not flattering but really says it like it is, apparently. The channel says the really good ones, i.e. Malinda and LaKisha got the boot because they said Malinda looked matronly and LaKisha was heavy-set and had gap-toothed appearance. Even though these were the best, now days in order to be bankable and sellable, talent is not what is the selling point, people want someone like Blake who has the little girls swooning and Jordin who is easy on the eyes. It says if you are female singer, you'd better be sexy. The above was what was printed in the article and I thought this said it all.
I would think 15 is good if you're giving her something else with it.
However, $90 for cut and color is inexpensive? I live in a pretty expensive area and basic color generally runs around $35 to $40 and cuts are not always $50+. I'd say she is expensive but if she is good probably worth it.
Good for you for giving it your best shot.
You obviously found something that attracted you to the man since you are with him.  Any and all relationships require work.  We are each different individuals, and in order to live together, need to find the balance that makes each happy.
Yep. I'm pretty good with the pill-giving
now too, but that CJ was tricking me and not swallowing his antibiotics. He'd pretend he did and then spit them out in another room.

All this is really new for Sasha. The vet told me she did her growl thing at her, and the vet told her not to do it, so Sasha kissed her. Cracked me up because that's Sasha for you - all talk, but loving.
Good one! Where did you find the pictures? nm.

I have some good books actually and she might find help for celiac sm

I have Bette Hagman's bread book.  I have made cornbread (as good as the real thing or better), Boston brown bread (heavy, but wonderful toasted with jelly on it) and a garbanzo and sorghum bread (YUK).  The biscuits were so-so.  The muffins were a disaster, but I think I know why.  Now, her pizza crust from her French Bread Mix (you make it yourself) is absolutely TO DIE FOR.  It is better than the real thing to me.  I had no idea what it was like to enjoy a veggie pizza with a chewy crust without hurting when it hit my stomach and then all the way through.  It was PAINLESS and WONDERFUL!!!

I love the Food Allergy Survival Guide which is free of animal products, dairy, nuts, peanuts, soy, wheat and I don't know what all free.  Stuff in there is a mixed bag.  Some of it is lovely, some is heavy and icky like vegetarian/vegan food in the 1970s and 1980s, so gross.

Because my celiac piggybacks with lupus, it is imperative to follow the diet as strictly as possible.  Lupus had blown my iron binding capacity so I run around anemic if I don't take daily iron.  I have to be on steriods which will compromise my bones, so I have to take calcium and vitamin D.  Celiac, untreated, flattens your intestinal villi if they don't fall off to start with.  Now, 90% of celiacs can regain them if they watch what they do.  Without villi you risk malnutrition and certainly anemia, brittle bones, canker sores and every sort of ailment related to vitamins and minerals.  I am in a risky position if I don't watch it because the dangerous consequences of both my AI diseases overlap.

I have lost a much needed 40# or so since I started steriods (prednisone) and a celiac diet.  I had been feeling better, but I think I must have had a dietary indiscretion (like too much protein for about 5 days running) and indulged in things that were no-nos.  I am paying for it.  I can't wait to get back to where I feel good.

Longer nights of rest, back on iron pills, strict celiac and vegetarian eating, no eggs and cheese no more than once a week...I'll get better.  It is no fun being such a pain in my own patooty!

A good doctor is hard to find.

I found a good doctor in Cleveland, Ohio.  He was never in a hurry.  He always retook my blood pressure.  He would read my chart from the last visit and talk to me about issues I had then.  He would always come up to me and say "Hello, how are you doing," and shake my hand.  When I cried (when my granddaughter died), he held my hand and comforted me.  The bad news, I moved 2 months ago to Oklahoma.  I bet I will not find another one like him here.  There are some good doctors....just not enough of them.

Good luck but I doubt you will find a lawyer sm
First of all, I am glad that your sister knows the truth and is not dying. Unfortunately I know from experience what it is like for a loved one to be given a misdiagnosis death sentence. My father-in-law went in the hospital almost 2 years ago with trouble swallowing and ended up getting referred to an ENT that sent him over to a neurologist. He did an EMG/NCS on his tongue, said he had ALS, and to prepare within 6 months to make a decision on being on a ventilator or being DNR. He had to quit working early & be fed through a PEG for over a year, during which time I took him to a different neurologist, a specialist in motor neuron diseases, who said that EMGs performed on the tongue are unreliable and that he had no evidence of ALS at all. Basically what had happened is that his vocal cord was not working properly, and the ENT said it was paralyzed, which is was not. Because the first neurologist just assumed the ENT was correct, he made the diagnosis. I tried calling a few lawyers for the pain and suffering aspect, but unless you want to try through civil court, there is no malpractice involved because there was no permanent physical damage done. They're lucky he didn't follow through with the suicidal thoughts he was having when he was first told all of this bullcr@p.

sniff sniff. Has anyone here had experience with having to find a good home for your dog? sm

We have a 10 pound peekepooh who needs a good home. We've had her for 3 years now and our baby is highly allergic to her. She is an indoor dog. I've put this off for too long. I am so torn, but I know this is best.

She hates being outside. I will not take her to our pound. I've thought about pet finders, but I'm just confused. Don't want to do the local paper either.

What do any of you suggest?

Find a lawyer, find out where you would stand - sm
in the event of a divorce/separation, regarding custody, house, etc. Custody was my main concern as well since I lied on numerous occasions about the finances. Where I am I was told that would not factor in to the custody at all. I can prove that I am my kids caregiver 90% of the time, I ferry they around everywhere, help with homework, get ready for school, meet at busstop, etc. I could also point out my husband is an alcoholic, self treats his depression with alcohol instead of getting proper medical treatment, has threatend to kill himself (or me) numerous times (though he always says he was joking and did not mean it.....that is his standard answer to everything, or that he never said that). Now I do love him enough to deal with all that because deep down inside my DH is full of it, luckily for me, he has never followed through on anything he says he is going to do. But I thought my confession would be the straw that broke it all and send him over the edge. He still is angry with me, I am sure he will be for a long time, but is keeping it together pretty well, though he has said the stress was going to kill him, now he know how I felt I guess. I am sorry your husband is such a smuck. I feel like a dog sometimes with the sex demands, have to do it the night before he goes out of town....he will be traveling a lot for work for the next 3-4 months, which I am more than glad about, much calmer here then, though it gets tiring for me but as he is not really helping much right now it really won't be much of a change. As for yours going on 5 day weekends.....have you considered having him followed, sounds like there may be some infidelity afoot, and if so that would strengthen your case in the event of a divorce and custody I would think. Sounds a bit fishy going out until 1 a.m. and his frequent trips. My DH fishes too, but he goes 2 miles from here with one of our male neighbors, they shoot the breeze and he gets to unwind some which I encourage. Very rare weekends with a buddy of his, I am talking once every 2 years, which again is fine with me. Start keeping track of all you do, when he is home, where he supposedly goes, with whom, etc. He cannot show he will be a responsible dad if he is never there or never interacts with his own kids. My DH would probably suggest I take our older daughter and he the younger, spliting them up, he has the same perception, the oldest is mine, the youngest is his. Our younger daughter is much easier to deal with, our older daughter drives him nuts and she is only 10. My younger one (8) knows something has been going one though, and worries we will divorce, which she does not want. She is very perceptive for her years. I hope that if you do go the divorce route, which would actually probably be best in your situation, that it all works out for you and you get your fair share of assets, etc. Make sure before you do anything like that you have all your ducks in a row, so talk to divorce lawyer. I talked to one for 45 minutes, cost me $160 but was worth it to set my mind at ease. Good luck.
Thanks for the information.
These are the things I was hoping to hear...don't want to do something I will regret later. :)
Thank you for the information.
I will be checking it out. My husband and I have talked to my son. He seems to be listening to what we are telling him, but I will have him read this article as well as others. All we can do at this point is guide him in the right direction and hope he makes the right decisions.

I believe here in New Jersey you have to be 19 to buy tobacco products. I think I have seen the sign, but I am going to double check, not that it makes any difference now because they are selling it to him anyway.

It is a tough age and I know I have other things to worry about as he hits 21, which is the LEGAL drinking age here in NJ, even though he has already been drinking and getting alcohol illegally. That is another problem we have had to deal with right before going away to college.

It has been a rough few months. Thanks again.
I did not know that and I do appreciate the information.
But it still bugs me when people keep their lights up year-round!
Some information - sm
Some HO policies will pay for the damage the leaking roof caused, but not the roof itself. Also, if a plumbing pipe breaks and you have water all over the house, they will pay for the damage the water caused, but not the pipe to be fixed.

You can call your insurance company and ask what is the limit they will pay out before your insurance is raised or they drop you. They will tell you. You can do this with car insurance also. If you get in a small accident, call and ask anonymously what is the $$$ limit before your insurance goes up. For auto - ours if $1800 an incident. So, if I get in 3 accidents and each costs $1200 to fix - my insurance will not go up in either case as it did not pass the $1800 limit.

They will not volunteer this information, you have to ask for it.

Hope this information helps somebody!
Thank you for information

Thank you for your helpful information.  This weekend is the time that I plan on changing over. I will do some research at those sites you so kindly passed along.

Thanks for that information
I have always used Gain and suddenly the towels were smelling tacky.  I will definitely try the Arm & Hammer!
TOO MUCH INFORMATION! NM
xx
Thank you so much for the information (sm)
I have new and better insurance starting this month and will check into getting the testing done. I never realized it was so dangerous. No wonder my doctor won't just keep prescribing the Provigil. That stuff is about $180 a month! Thanks again!
They should have at least given you more information . - (sm)
My sister was treated in this way once, and it scared her to the point of tears as she sat on the exam table waiting to hear the worst. Turns out, sometimes one type of film doesn't get the right view of what they want to see, and they'll try an ultrasound or an MRI.

As it turns out, there was no problem at all, but the WAY THEY HAD ACTED in that office had scared her half to death.

And if you need a biopsy, all is not lost. I've had a couple friends get biopsies or just get the lump taken out, and it was benign.

I had a "suspicious" pea-sized lump arise in my mid to late 30's, and it stuck around for years. They mammo'ed it sometimes every 6 months, sometimes once a year sometimes less. The other breast has always been normal. Most of the time I had other stuff to do and not the time to think about it much.

Amazingly, the last mammo (whenever that was... I don't keep very good track!) showed that the lump was gone. Even the speck of calcification in it which had made them all suspicious of it was gone.

I typed xray and mammograms for many years, and one thing I learned is that everyone is different, every lump and xray finding is a little different, and the various imaging types yield different results. Very, very few of the people who did have tumors had breast pain associated with it. That's pretty rare. So until they tell you otherwise, I would be optimistic.

Even it the news should not be so good, I can say that my cousin had DCIS and did the mastectomy and chemo, and she's been FINE for 10+ years. (Her hair grew in GORGEOUS, too! Thicker, and curly/wavy!) So even then, there was an upside to the whole thing.

Good luck, and don't worry needlessly... wait until you actually know there is something to be concerned about, and get out there and enjoy the holidays! :)

Information on cirrhosis - does anyone know the - sm
early signs of possible alcohol-induced liver cirrhosis?  I fear my DH may be experiencing some signs of it, it's either that or gallstones I suspect.  He is starting to think it too as he was asking me a lot of questions about the liver cirrhosis reports I was transcribing the other night (generalities, not specifics about patients).  He has drunk 8-12 beers a day-- every day practically-- (light beer so he thinks this makes it okay---I checked its 5% alcohol a can for the brand he drinks, most regular beer is 6% I think) for the last 20+ years.  He is 47.  He won't go to a doctor.  I told him I'd make him an appt about a month or so ago and he was like, not yet, just about bit my head off in the process.  But I think the pain is getting worse.  He walks around here every night (still drinking mind you) holding the right side of his abdomen (right of midline) around the waist area.  I thought about pancreatitis but I think his pain would be much more severe and located more midline than where he indicates.  He is in good health otherwise as far as we both know, not overweight, probably underweight actually (5ཇ"/6', 162 pounds).  He does have insomnia though, but I know that is related to the alcohol, and I believe would rectify itself if he quit.  He also has an fear (?) of doctors and medication, to him no news is good news.  So he will have to be in some pretty nasty pain before he will go to a doctor, and by then he'll probably be in pretty bad shape, or at least the liver will be IF that is what is the problem.  So I thought I'd see if anyone had personal experience with this.  TIA for any information you can pass on.
Need help with information regarding fireplace
Have moved to new home. I have gas heating and also gas operated fireplace. Have never had the fireplace on yet. My question to anyone this applies to, I was told recently if you use a blower, the artificial logs with your fireplace this can save a lot on your regular heating prices as it uses less gas this way than turning your entire home heating system on. Does anyone have any information regarding this? Thanks.
No, but my husband does. The information
that I finally got was after prolonged searching. I was diagosed as fibro by a rheumatologist (had no clue as to why my shoulders tremendously sore). I try to self-treat, definitely not hypochondric, have better things to do with my time that sitting in an office waiting but so wracked with pain went in as a work-in this past Monday, just trying to sit, wait to see someone. Here after asking point blank to doc about could it be costo then, the most horrible pain 4 days later so started researching some more and that is when I found the connection between fibro and the costo and also the bit about the omega 3. I stopped immediately, went to the store to get. Had been taking some hubs had but not the strength needed. If I can ever help my own self, that is done prior to any doctor visit period! I cancelled a follow up visit with him and now cancelling out completely.
That was some great information. (sm)
I just got a great color job from my guy, but watch out because it seems like they are really pushing highlighting right now, and that can look very good or really overdone. The celebrities are overdoing it IMO right now.
Awesome information
Thanks for all of that. Very interesting. I am going to send it to friends. Wow, lots to know and working at home, I would have never known...we would have missed it! Plus, now I will be on guard for lunacy all around me! LOL.
Thanks for all the information Lowly MT
Unfortunately I've tried a lot of the above and I knew most of the above. Since he already had a really bad UTI I've done/tried most of what you suggested. He's 11 so I've had a lot of practice. LOL. The Comfort Zone spray sounds interesting though, I may have to look into that. I've been up most of the night so I'm kind of loopy so when I get some sleep I'll reread your post and see what else I missed. Again, thank you so much for taking the time to try and help. Like I said at this point I'll try anything.
You are full of information!
Thanks!

Do you remember when Nick went away to boarding school at something like 7 and came back 19? It's completely crazy but I know they have to do it to keep the story line going. I can't wait to see what he looks like though...Sharon or Nick. Michael's dad, I thought that was a dead issue. I wonder who decided to go ahead with finding him. Here we go with Gloria again huh. lol

I missed today but watched yesterday's online. I'm so glad Victoria got a chance to talk to Sabrina. I'm still hoping Sabrina doesn't kick the bucket but sounds like she will. I wonder how Adam will like step-mommy Niki moving into the ranch...I think that's where things are headed.
That is some wonderful information - sm
I am in a similar situation, though a lot more in the hole, about $80K between the 2 of us, unfortunately my DH is the one that has no idea. I am to the point where I have to tell him too. I will call all my CC companies though and see if I can negotiate a better interest rate, only behind on 1 account and this was this month, just did not have $650 to make the payment. I need to see a lawyer first though before I "confess" in case this goes the divorce route, want to know where I stand and if it is possible I would lose my kids over my financial irresponsibility; I know he would fight me for the kids though he cannot deal with having them so he would probably do it just to spite me and make the kids miserable in the process. I am trying to figure out how to tell him, in a note, in person (however I am afraid of him as he has threatened me before but has never physically harmed me--afraid this might send him over the edge as he has undiagnosed depression), I am leaning toward a note, take the kids out for the day or several hours, come back and discuss the solutions I have mapped out in my head. In our case staying together and working togehter is the best plan I think, though I would proabably walk off debt free in a divorce because of the splitting of assets, he would actually end up with debt, so it would be to his advantage to stay together. I still love my DH, but I do put up with a lot of crud. I am just afraid of change I guess and for myself and my kids. My friends are scared too, my family knows nothing of this nor does his family. Anyone have any good advice on how to tell him w/o ending up getting killed in the process?
Thanks for the 90210 information
I wonder if it's somewhere online. I'll have to check. He's my screensaver (lots of pics). I even got myself a tour T-shirt. Even at my age. I figure you only live once. I don't drink or smoke so I have to have some obsessions. LOL
Great information -
I looked at the Wikipedia article, and it certainly fits.  It said fasciculations can be caused by magnesium deficiency and then in parentheses, "(may also be due to stress)"  Uh, I think we have an answer!!!  Thanks so much.
Information on coverage
First of all, how old is your mother and is she retired or was she working at the time of the disability? I am going to apply to start receiving the money paid into social security. I have been once, got questions answered and this Monday going again because I know you have to set up the payments 3 months prior to your receiving them. I will have reached full retirement age in March. I do not wish to accept Medicare insurance - I just wanted the money BUT I have found out (as your mother should have) regarding what I have to do. I have husband's insurance which is really excellent but I know this will be secondary to Medicare. I have A now but when I got it I knew it was for hospital only. Why did your mother give to a doctor when being seen by them? I think she must have not been informed or gotten information she should have. My elderly aunt has advised me on A, B and C and I think there is a D- I wrote it down but meeting Monday will ask the SS office. Before my PPO coverage, I absolutely did my own finding out about my coverage- if a physician referred me to another I called my insurance company to find out if set up with them. I one time saw a man being charged over $400 because he had not done his seeking out of what he should have- in other words he went to a physician because his internist told him he was being referred- yet his insurance company did not cover and he was responsible for this money. How did she get the card for part A?? Did she call or did she go in to get it? I went to the social security office and got mine- it was not sent- don’t know if they send to your home address or not? I have questions that I have written down, got answers from my aunt who gets Medicare and want to know up front what is covered, what I want and what I do not want. It seems as though maybe your mother needed some assistance- why did she not ever ask questions? I have been told in the past I owed a big amount, never to Medicare but mine was worked out to my advantage- hopefully hers can be also.
Do I always give up too much information?
I notice that I'm always being real personal and saying lots of things but nobody else does... not sure if this is smart of me. I just found out my name can be googled and anyone can see everything I've written. I guess I should be more cautious... I mean nobody said where they live now or anything..
BUT FOR NOW

I was born in Eureka, California. A small town an hour and a half south of the Oregon border. I moved to Reno NV when I was 24 and yes visited California a lot, my parents and friends are still there. However now I'm in South Carolina and won't be back to CA until my 10 year reunion this summer AHHHHH

No every time I go back it's the same gossipy small town CRAP!

You never said where you were born!!

I just called my daughter and told her what you had to say regarding the program. I told her to try calling the drug maker first and asking for that program you talk about, the indigent program. She says has no problem doing that and will talk with them soon. Thanks for the help.

Awsome information! Tx for sharing...
That is my worry regarding the ablation that it will not last.  I'm only 36.  I have hypercholesterolemia and apparently an elevated liver enzyme but a normal ultrasound of the liver (no fatty liver) thank goodness.  I do not want to be on birth control pills as I have had trouble with migraines.  I had a doctor tell me she would do the uterine ablation and place an IUD but I had an aunt that died of an infection from an IUD; go figure... we all have our stories, but you have shed some light on the uterine ablation.       Good luck with the hysty - I'm sure you'll find relief.  Hopefully things will be better (been there/done that "shower thing") before menses as well...   regular menses here though for now anyway/I'm 36.
I got wrong information from court..
Told I could go in and collect enough to not only pay what they owe me but also to cover the truck I rented this morning and also more court costs because they would sell in 1 bundle on court house steps. The deputy this morning tells me I can only get what totals up to my amount. This is where I am left- paying out of pocket for another truck, renting a storage place for a month, running ad in paper to advertise the sale and then also paying for other costs, autioneer. Now if someone bids $5.00 and no one else goes higher - they get for $5.00. You are so right- if I stole from them I would be under the jail. How a place like this stays in business- not small place - 4 around town. They are on Kudzu and I will write scathing report after this is over plus better business but right now trying to find out bank. I could sit there but I do work and how can I work that? Have no idea when anyone would go to the bank. I can garnish- thought about having someone pay check there for a small amount and then see where deposited. That would take me another month or so though and I am chomping at the bits as I type.
New information this morning on just how much extra put on
There is a news report just coming in on the hamburger drama. The chief of police said so much salt put on it was actually caked on, looked like shards of glass and not only that but pepper put on some heavily that the lettuce was entirely black.
I don't volunterr any information, but if my 18-year-old
has asked in the past I have told her. Lucky me, she is a lot more level-headed and responsible than I was at her age.
...information. That heading just didn't look right....lol nm
