Older lady here and most guys just do not do things like this, sounds more like a female's doing. I would think more than anything this is not sent as a joke and possibly trying to let you know. One thing to be sure of, you can never, ever say you are sure it is not true because other than yourself and knowing what you will and will not do, you cannot possibly know what others will do. You might be terribly surprised.
