I disagree. Women have gotten killed by not moving or changing their phone numbers.

Women with restraining orders are killed by their abuser
Don't get a false sense of security. There have been good advances in the past 20 years but it's still a man's world.
Stay in contact with your friends and family and make sure to give a few of them a code word. Something like the sky is blue or I really want chinese food and they will know to call the police if you are in trouble. Do what you need to do to protect yourself. Do not count on the police. I was attacked in my home 2 hours after leaving the courthouse. I even called 911 when I got home because I was scared. They were on their way but he got there faster.
I was young and nieve and had a newborn I was thinking about. I wish someone would have told me not to go home. Please don't be nieve like I was and trust the system and that piece of paper. It's hard to imagine your home isn't safe or that someone is going to be 100x more aggressive then you have ever seen them be.
I would move and change your numbers and make sure if you work outside your home you alert EVERYONE including the receptionist and your boss/manager and security.
I would say that none of these numbers would be
something to "get alarmed" about. The higher numbers could possibly cause problems over a period of time and I would have my doctor check anything that is higher than normal (120/80), though.
Do these numbers seem low to you?
My fasting sugar this morning was 72, which I know is kind of borderline, but the others don't seem low enough to make me feel as icky as I have been.
What's the last two numbers of your SSN?
They're sending them out that way. Mine is due on Friday. I've had a lot of friends get theirs. I guess we have to be patient.
800 numbers
Try googling the number. I have had 800 numbers calling me. Usually there will be something in Google about that numnber. (Other people complain about this to and it will show up in google.
Very aggravating!!!
Yeah, when I use numbers, I never do that...
but I do put a lot of times:
MEDICATIONS
Include Zocor, Ambien, etc...
If I have to list with numbers though, I drop the "include." That is just common sense to me.
If her numbers are fine
I would not worry. If the drugs are toxic and make her feel worse, then it really is about the quality of her life. Take care.
DD used to not like uneven numbers sm
we even got to the point that when we changed the volume on the car radio it had to be on an even number. (some cars don't have this feature). Then she realized her b-day was 1-7-93 (all odd) and she will graduate in 2011.She has a black cat and that never crossed her mind.
I personally don't walk under ladders (why would I?)and I do knock wood but that is more habit than superstition.
Now, do you want to talk phobias? I could go on for hours!
No, talking about when they are listed with numbers.
But I don't like this:
PAST MEDICAL HISTORY:

I would take his phone away or make him pay the bills for the phone
He can use the postal service to write her letters if he wants but there is no excuse. College is not highschool and if he's gonna make a go of it...be the parent and discipline....my opinion but take the phone away.
Changing my name.
Too many MT in MT on here now. I'm changing my name for those I chat with regularly on here.
1950s paint-by-numbers on Ebay (sm)
I just gave a quick look-see and I found everything ranging from $5 to $30. Who knew?!
I think I would consider changing vets, too-sm
after this, as it is not wise to give a cat just dry food. They need the wet food to keep from getting dehydrated. Dry food does not contain everything they need to maintain good health as they have mostly grain and no true meat products. Check with other vets. This one sounds a little too pushy and has a large ego. JMO

changing your OB in the last month of pregnancy?
I was just wondering if anyone here had any experience with changing your OB in the last month of pregnancy? Or if anyone knows anyone who changed their OB late in pregnancy?
Without going into too many details, my OB was away on a personal emergency this week and her partner was not in the office due to the holiday. I was having some problems this week and I needed an OB on Friday. I called but my OB's office only had a recorded message. There was no answering service. So I stuck it out until Satruday and went to the emergency room at the hospital where I was supposed to be delivering this baby. The Triage Nurse at the hospital was so awful and mean to me that I burst into tears and stormed out of there. She didn't flat out refuse me medical attention, but she gave me such a hard time about being there that she made me feel very uncomfortable, and in so many words she forced me out. She was the nastiest most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with in the healthcare industry. DH agrees.
So now DH and I are totally turned off to that hospital and I don't feel comfortable at all delivering there. Fortunately for us, we have 2 other excellent hopsitals close to our house. The problem is, my OB only delivers out of the hospital where I had this incident. So I was thinking of changing back to my old OB for the end of the pregnancy. He delivered my nephew and my sister said she liked him and had no problems with him. But he has not dealt with me pregnant. I just went to him for 2 annual checkups several years ago, then decided to change over to my current OB because my sisters and friends raved about her.
And it's really been a textbook pregnancy -- no problems with me or the baby. He would just need my records sent to him, and he'd need to know that I will be a scheduled c-section. Really at this point all I need is for someone to go in there and get the baby out for me.
Any advice? Do you think he would refuse my case since I'm 35 weeks already? The whole incident is unfortunate, and I love my OB, but I am so turned off to the hospital that I'd be willing to go with another OB just to be able to deliver out of another hospital where we'll feel comfortable and taken care of.
time changing? Eastern
Was Eastern time delayed for some reason- my regular clocks on the eastern and 2 clocks fell back an hour? What is happening?
So tired of changing my clothing day after day after
well, you get the point. I basically am ok while sitting- just when getting up or in the morning, unable to make it 10 feet without an accident. It has been past time I should have seen about this, too busy trying to make that $$$ and other things I got going on. Now is the time!
Changing shoes helped me.
I had a touch of this years ago. I realized it was from one particular pair of shoes. It went away when I quit wearing them. Are you seeing a podiatrist?
Does anyone know if we'll be changing time?? sm
I thought it would've been this past weekend. Every Halloween it's dark by about 5 pm. I haven't heard or seen anything about time change.
changing 35 mm slides to pictures?
Has anyone recently changed 35 mm slides into pictures? Do you know who can do it? I just found loads of slides from my honeymoon 28 years ago. I forgot my husband and I used to take slides.

You are only responsible for changing your behavior, not someone elses
I am the product of a divorce years and years ago and thank goodness my mother had enough sense to not stay with my father. He was actually caught running around on her with other women. I knew my father growing up, spent time with he and my stepmom, loved her but I missed absolutely nothing by not having him in my house every day. You are responsible for your own self-. The advice you are giving is like saying a man messes around on a woman, drinks too much and maybe after the marriage he will change. You can only make yourself happy, no one else can do that for you. I have never had a time when I could not stand my husband, never and I would believe he probably feels the same. We laugh when others say they have to work at marriage- we just do not get this. Like I said, product of divorce, happily married myself, never missed my father, saw him but never, ever close in my life. By the way, I am one of the older and wiser group also.

it just about killed me ;)
actually I just ran out of $. Keep it up - it is a fantastic way to exercise. Be careful not to let the instructor/yoursel push you too hard.
I almost killed my cat with tunafish!
Go figure that one out! He was a Maine Coon cat...just HUGE with a huge appetite and I ran out of food, so I grabbed a can of tuna until I could get to the store. That night I woke up to SCREAMING like I have never heard an animal scream before and his whole body was spasming. Oh it was the most horrible thing I had ever witnessed! I called an emergency vet clinic who took him in right away. He had a complete blockage of his urethra and couldn't pee...he was a heartbeat away from blowing his bladder and dying. They had to catheterize him and the bag was full of bloody urine and he spent 3 days in the hospital. I was a wreck but he was ultimately fine. Holy crap did that vet bill nearly cripple me! ICU for a cat...why oh why do I keep on with these friggin' animals?!
You never know what will cause something to go wrong with these things. Never blame yourself...ever. We are all doing the best we can with what we have.
I once had a dream that my dog got killed - sm

If her dogs killed my cats
I would probably just tar and feather her, that seems like a good remedy for me.
Yesterday's headlines killed me.
"Dr. Melfi quits treating Tony Soprano to start treating Paris Hilton!"
Too funny.
She said on The View that "Paris called and needed me so I had to make all my time available for Paris and her family!"
How not to get killed?!?!?! How about leave the idi0t!!!
I am very independent and I don't care if I have to go get a one bedroom apartment so my two small kids and I can have a place to go. I would not live in fear of my life over anything! I would figure it all out once I got a restraining order and filed a divorce! Wow, I could say a lot, but I am going to keep my comments to myself. That is what I would do. You asked for advice, there you have it!
My youngest step son was killed ........ sm
in a motorcycle accident and was almost decapitated. The mortician did a very good job with him, but there was still some evidence of the trauma he suffered. His mother chose to have an open casket because I doubt she could have dealt with it any other way. It was a very hard funeral, and hard for me as I had not seen him in quite some time and it was hard seeing him lying in a casket, but I think, hard as it was, it did help bring closure for me and for his family. I think it is a very personal decision that only the family can make at a time like this.
Kinda like asking if OJ killed Nicole or not NM

Or they want to raise them so they can be killed in a senseless war!!
Not that I think it is good to kill fetuses either ... but why don't these people see their lack of logic!
And as far as the stem cells and embryos ... why don't they fight to stop allowing people to fertilize and freeze them to begin with (or more than they will surely use)?!!
I read about a 6yo that killed his classmate
I know this doesn't pertain to you because some kid killed his father after he saw his father committing violence, but I just thought this was interesting article. It's called Why little kids kill. I just cannot fatham anyone at 6 years old doing that. What happened to young innocense....
If I were you and the family seems non-challant I would definitely talk to a police officer and state your concerns. Especially in today's day and age - nothing surprises me.

nah -- we killed too many brain cells
snorting the crack OUR parents didn't teach us about!
Geesh -- why always so quick to blame the parents? This kid is 14 years old and knew better than to do this. She chose to do it anyway, just like so many others before her time chose to get up knocked up, strung out on drugs, become an alcoholic, etc.
Yes, the kid screwed up, but that's what kids do. Didn't you ever have a friend who stole a car in high school or got caught cheating and ended up expelled? It's not the end of the world, but spreading it all over the media could very well push this kid over the edge and cause her to hurt herself. She obviously is looking for attention or affection. This is certainly not going to help her.
We are moving...
In May after our DD graduates from HS. She's a senior and we don't want to pull her out of her HS that she's been in for 4 years now. We're putting the house on the market probably in Jan-Feb. If it sells, (yeah, right) we'll just rent an apartment or something until May.
why is he moving out?
If he does not like your rules or is a troublemaker, I am surprised his sister would want to take him on as it seems from your posts she is a responsible person. Are you a miserable person to live with? I ask because my mother was a misery to live with, and none of us kids could wait to get away from her.
All we ever heard was == All I do for you kids, no appreciation, etc. Believe me, we were not bad kids. She just resented the hard work of being a mother and blamed us for her misery. Hello, don't have kids if you don't want the responsibility, headaches, etc.
Also you keep referring to MY house. That sounds just like my mother. In my family, we call it OUR house.
you should have put that $500 towards moving
You really need to just get out of there.
I am too. I have tried moving to our
but the kids moved their computer by me. Seems whereever I go they follow. I had no big windows in there so I went back to the family room, which is now called the office. But it is more like the kids room with mommy trying to work and bothering them. They play classroom in here, webkinz, toontown, do homework, etc. I used to have it in the bedroom, for years, but got depressed because I literally never left the room except to take care of the kids and do chores. I got depressed and the doc said I had to take the computer out of my bedroom, because even when not working, in bed, I'd think about work or see it constantly.
I once had an office with walls, but the kids took up camp in there too. They are all 11 and under so I can't wait until they want mommy less and are teenagers for example. Maybe then, they'd spend time by themselves and only come to me for money. LOL. I love them, but the noise and clutter that come withs them well just not exactly a good environment for a doc who speaks no English and eats chips at the same time.
moving
I am moving 1,000 miles from where I live right now. The move is taking place on 03/19/2009. Since living in Ohio, I have been through so much sorrow and stressful things. I want to move on and go back where my sons live. The only thing I will regret is leaving my granddaughter's grave site. It is only a couple of minutes from here, and I can go any time I want. I know when I leave, I will not be back, and I will miss visiting her.
moving
I moved 21 years ago all by myself about 450 miles away. That way I got visited way less by family and no more surprise visits.
If you stay put, it implies that you are happy where you are, not that you are too scared to do something else.
He said he was moving, so I would say ok to that!
When you lump all husbands together you are not talking everyone. My husband wants me to be happy, not just him. When I first started reading your post I was thinking divorce in the works. Only married 2 years, do you really think it is worth 2 more? Why in the world do you have to do what HE wants? Does not sound like much of a mutual marriage to me. He sounds very immature. The marriage is in for a lot of trouble.
Her name was Meredith Emerson, and it was just last January that she was killed.
I know the story very well, and even hiked in memory of her a few weeks after she was killed. Her murder caused great grief along the entire 2100+ miles of the trail, and all of us who love the trail know full well what can happen out there.
The trail community is very difficult to explain to people who haven't experienced it. Yes, people have been killed on the Appalachian Trail, probably about a dozen or so in the over 70 years that the trail has been open. Given the thousands who walk all or part of the trail each year, it is statistically safer on the trail than in "civilization". You are correct, however, that hikers are more in danger than the people who pick them up. The most dangerous places on the trail are at the trailheads and near roads where people pretend to help hikers and then do harm. That is why I pick up hikers, because they are more afraid of me than I am of them. Also, there's quite a bit of communication that goes up and down the trail, and we do keep track of people as they travel. It's very likely that when I pick someone up near the trail, I've heard about their trip. In hiker slang, people who help hikers are called trail angels. It's a different situation. It's not 100% safe, but I choose not to cower at home. I hike the A.T. and other trails, usually with friends, sometimes alone. I tell my family, that if harm should come to me, either through accident or evil, they should remember that I go into the woods because I love it, and should I die there, they should remember that I loved it too much to stay away.
The Appalachian Trail is not the lawless, dangerous passageway that so many people think it is. More times than I can count, I've been asked about the dangers of the trail. Usually I just shrug and smile. It's not worth the argument, because I can't change the minds of people who don't know. On the other hand, I don't want to change minds. If I did, there'd be traffic jams on the trail, and it wouldn't be fun anymore.
Very moving. Thanks for sharing. nm

A friend is moving there. I just SM
always imagined it as a tourist town. I suppose it really is a lovely city. He is specifically moving to North Myrtle Beach, SC.
I guess it seemed strange to me, because the person moving there is my rabbi. I'm sorry, I'm laughing! Anyway, Myrtle Beach will be getting a wonderful member of the community.
He will be missed deeply here in Pembroke Pines, Fl.
Hope you won't think I'm completely crazy. It just seemed strange a rabbi would be moving to Myrtle Beach.
If I have offended anyone, of any religion, living or not living in Myrtle Beach, I'm sorry. :)

Very moving, touching, sad, proud, thankful, greatful. There are not enough words to thank all the soldiers fighting for us. I was in the miliary some years ago and this brings back so many memories of why I joined. I can't thank enough these people who fight for our freedom and for freedom for others. I still have a lump in my throat from watching this video. What a wonderful tribute to the soldiers this 15-year-old did in making this.
moving out of state
Check your divorce laws in your states. Many states will not let you or your (ex) spouse move out of state without permission of the other. Some even have a mileage radius. I think it's to keep both parents close to the kids and not having one parent run far away so the other can't ever see the kids again. My kids were 5 and 1 when I was in the process of getting divorced, and I moved out of state before I realized this. Fortunately my ex realized and understood the need for me and the kids to be close to my family for support, so it was written in the papers that it was okay for me to move out of state and he signed it.
