I believe we read the John Gray books because that was what was out then, but -

I think Dr. Phil's books are better and more practical. We got the relationship book when it came out to see if there was anything else we could work on. Go to counseling and REALLY work on it. It will work if you give it a chance (for the most part). I will tell you there were couples in our class who were FAR worse off than we were who said at the end they never felt closer. Not sure where they are at now, but I know for a fact my hubby and I have never been closer or happier. Remember, put as much effort into your anger, resentment, etc., as you do into cultivating a good relationship. Most of the time men are clueless the little things they do harden our hearts to them and are very open to doing what it takes to make us happy once they find out what we want and need. Good luck to you. :-)

the Lord John Gray books
I read the first one but haven't read the 2 that she published this year (waiting for the paperback versions). It wasn't as good as Outlanders but still pretty decent. Mainly a mystery that I had a hard time following at first with a bit of LJG's (ahem) personal charateristics thrown in, if you know what I mean.
if they had read their history books, they would not need to ask..nm

That's why I don't read anything else but self-help books. Guffaw. nm
Y me?
I've read the books (sm)
We actually got HBO solely for the reason of watching this series. So far it is...okay? I love the books but the series is not sticking strictly to them, and is changing some things that I don't think should be changed. However, by itself, I do like the series. Just hate it when they go from books and change majorly seriously big things!!
HC
My daughter had the books and I read them
at 50. Absolutely love them and am going with my daughter and her friends to see it. I was disappointed after I read the last book that there were not more.
I am currently also watching TrueBlood on HBO and absolutely love it. It is based on a series of 9 books and I am on book #5. Certainly would not recommend the series or books for young teens (very graphic in all aspects), but very good series. The series is not following the books, which is a little disappointing however.
I only hope the Twilight movie in in line with the books.
I just read 2 books on menopause sm
Apparently once you miss your first period, it takes on average 4 years for the peri- and full-blown menopause to be completed. Some get through faster, some slower. I'm 50 and have only missed a single period so far, but the mood swings are horrendous already, as well as the increased bleeding. EEEK - this is not gonna be fun!
Google Dr Christiane Northrup; she's written extensively about the process.
Do you remember the names of any of the books you read?
Not OP but feeling the same way for a long, long time. Would like it to be better.

Do young girls still read Nancy Drew books? - sm
I know I read them when I was around 10 or 11, but that was 30 years ago and I am not sure what girls read these days. I am trying to find someone who would really appreciate them because I believe my mom buying me my first one truly led to a love of reading that continues today (true crime no less!). I may just donate them to our local library. Any other ideas?
Does anyone read the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum books? I am hooked! sm
My MIL gave me the first three and said I would love them. I did but too much because I stayed up until 3 last night to finish the last one! I went out today and bought 4 through 13! I feel like a junkie but I absolutely love them!
I've sold 125 books on half.com but most were my childrens college text books. I have sold some
t I picked up for a quarter at a thrift store. Old Dr. Seuss books do well. I price them a bit lower than the rest of the pack and put that they are from a nonsmoking home. Half.com does take a small commission but they deposit the check in your bank account monthly.
Going Gray
It is so nice to see this new board! I came here this morning with a non-MT question so it's a wonderful coincidence...I've been coloring my hair for 30 years, starting when I was 28 years old--to cover premature gray. Now have decided to just let it go, because of the time, expense and harshness to my hair and scalp. I think I must be about 80% gray/white, with some dark brown still in the back. It's short--bottom of the ear length. What is the best way to transition from those with a similar experience? Thanks so much--
re: gray
My hubby doesn't like my gray hair either, but I am sick of coloring it too. He saw an ad for keeping your color longer, I told him, "Yeah just let the gray grow out and then it won't be a problem." hehe...he wasn't happy...I'm about halfway there and my gray is nice and white and so at 43, I don't mind. I think I earned it!
Books! That's it? Books! I was expecting
maybe some leather chaps or some strap ons by the sound of your post! lol
Yes, it's fun. I waited until I had a little gray,
and after my niece started going brunette from her dark blond, and it looked pretty good. My natural shade is a dark greenish brown, and my skin looks better with just a hint of red in a dark brown. It changes with time, but just looks more natural over time, since it gets closer to the color of the roots growing in. My picky older sister thinkgs it looks good, and even my hairdresser likes it.
Has anyone purposely gone gray
I'm contemplating on not coloring my hair anymore. I've been buying "Natural Instincts" which is suppose to be less chemicals, but I really hate putting any chemicals on my hair. Also, tired of coloring my hair in within 2 days the sides right around my ears are once again gray (no matter what brand I use). So just wanted to know if anyone has gone natural gray and how long does it take. Seems like I go through these ups and downs. When I first start turning gray is when I decide I'm not going to color but then as I get more gray my hair looks brittle and I just start to look more "haggish" so I give in to the box. If you have gone gray do you have any suggestions/products you particularly like over others.
same in my family. gray comes in late
My mom is in her 70's and only has gray streaks in the front. My paternal grandmother was 88 when she passed away, and she still had mostly black hair. I've always said the same thing about dying gray hair! I'm going to wait until it's mostly gray and then try out some funky colors!
Did you like Gray's Anatomy this week?
We tape it, so I'm not even sure what day it's on, but I finally saw it.
I enjoy parts of the show, despite so many of the characters and their story lines being so maddeningly illogical and annoying.
Meredith - Get over yourself and get to know your sister, you dolt.
Derek: You are too good for Meredith.
Chief: Why did you do it? Callie is a newlywed in a mess, while Bailey can make her own decisions and handle anything.
George and Alex - Much improved hair. Thank you.
Christina - Do try to actually teach something.
Izzie - You just can't be normal, can you?
That's all I have to say about that.
Desperate Housewives....and about Gray's Anatomy
I thought last season was so awful I may not even watch it this year. What happened there? It's too bad.
I am using gray screen and black type. (nm)

When the gray color is yellow-tinged,
that's when it can look good to use that blueing treatment. If you overdo it you end up with blue or lilac hair, but in the right dose it can effectively take out the yellow and give a more pleasing shade of gray or white.
It was legalized, but since it's kind of a gray area
and the federal government hasn't legalized it, medical marijuana establishments occasionally get shut down. Never could understand it. I really don't see why it's illegal. Even though I don't use it myself (just don't like smoking - period), I have no problem with my friends using it. I would prefer, of course, that they not drive a car while under the influence, but when it comes to how it affects them, it certainly doesn't make them mean, the way alcohol does to people. So especially when it comes to someone who is sick or in pain, or has lost their appetite, I think by all means they should have access to use pot to help them feel better. If it's legal for a doctor to pump them full of steroids, narcotic pain-killers, and highly toxic anti-cancer drugs, the use of a little pot to help them get through all that, or better still, do WITHOUT some of the pain meds or appetite stimulants, seems like such a non-issue. I wish our government would focus its attention on things that actually MATTER.
St. John's wort
Does anyone take this and if so, has it worked? I hate taking prescription antidepressants (made me way too tired, etc.) so was wondering if this helps.
John Bon Jovi
See now I think he's really hot now. LOL. I remember reading that his wife was his high school sweetheart. I agree with you there though...I dont think that great either.
Oh, and Richard Gere's father was my insurance agent. He doesn't live far from my house.
John Lennon
Well, you didn't specify if they had to be alive or not, so I'm gonna fantasize for a moment here. If he did knock on my door the first order of business would be to wet myself. Then I'd b*tch slap him for the whole Yoko thing. Then I'd smack him again for getting himself killed strictly because he went the Yoko route and went all retarded on us. Then I'd shut the door, turn around, walk to the phone and call the crisis hotline because someone had obviously tainted my Crystal Light with Crystal Meth.
John Adams - HBO
Is anyone watching the John Adams series on HBO and if so what do you think? I thinks its by far one of the best shows I have ever seen. We saw the first three shows during the HBO free preview weekend and ordered HBO just so we could continue watching.
Throughout my school days I detested history. Found it to be quite dull. All I remember was having to memorize dates but don't remember a thing about learning about the people or times (although I'm sure I must have). Now I can't get enough history and search every site I can think of to learn what I almost failed in school.
Just wonder what your thoughts are about the show.
Where is John's head? (sm)
It's in his crotch.
I just saw John and his family on the
Today show. What a wonderful man with such a beautiful family. The picture of little Adam in the baseball cap holding the bat is just precious. So much good has been done in Adam's name. They are amazing people.
John Travolta is gay????
This is the first I'm hearing this. Is this true or just speculation?

Saw John Edwards in Las Vegas
not that thrilled, no time for most of the audience, accepted very few questions from very few folks so would have felt better if more able to participate than say 4 or 5 for the total time.

P.S. Couldn't really say John Candy or that would have
completely given it away.
Had to make ya work for it right?! :)

I'm still standing - Elton John

If you google John and his lover,
you probably are going to pick up a man's name (as in the nanny you speak of). I knew the police were already involved. I am sorry for John and his wife as far as the loss of their child but there are very odd things going on here.
I forgot about John Gage!
He really is cute. I like Kurt Russell, too, and luckily he's still working and I can see him once in awhile.
Does he like Uncle John's sausage? sm
I can't remember where you said y'all were now, but that is definitely a local thing. Their plant is in Brandon. Anyway, they are also available online but the shipping is very expensive. They are the ones that make the mojo sausage (and other fresh sausage) and sell it to Sweetbay/Kash N Karry stores.
But John Corbett is one good looking

John Edwards and Sylvia Browne
I used to watch John Edwards, but he's no longer on TV in my area. I do watch Montel when Sylvia is on every chance I get. I have tried to get on the shows from time to time, but it hasn't happened yet. I'm trying to find a more local psychic, but the nearest one is 30 miles away and I no longer have a vehicle and none of my friends or even hubby would go with me.
I also find brand new shiny pennies lying face up on the ground a lot of times.
When our grandson was very young, about 4 yo, he wanted my husband to push him on the swing. My hubby was tired from working all day and told him he would do it tomorrow. The grandson looked him straight in the eye and said, "When you were young, I used to push you all the time." That stopped hubby in his tracks. (His father used to push him on the swing.) Hubby spent the next 2 hours pushing our grandson on the swing.
I could go on and on on some of my experiences, but all I can say is that I'm happy they happen. It makes me feel good that they are watching over us.
Just wish they would give me some good numbers to playthe lotto.
IMO, John Hancock is the company to call.
They have some GREAT plans they will explain to you. I'm working with somebody there right now because my dad's retirement turned out so great (using them). Good luck.
John Assaraf's nauseating statement about that
He was on Larry King promoting the theory that you wish everything into your life.
Larry King asked this man if Jessica Lunsford wished her torture and murder into her life, if this is his theory.
The man paused a moment and then said, "Yes."
Made me sick.
I understand dwelling on the positive aspects of your life and they become more apparent to you. However, to think you simply "wish" something into existence is the biggest pile of manure for people to fall for.
Especially to say that every baby, child, teenager, woman, man ever abused, tortured, murdered WISHED THIS ON THEMSELVES.
Ludicrous.
you DO mean John Edwards' wife Elizabeth?

I think I have seen every John Cusack movie ever made.
I first fell for him in 16 candles....he was such a nerd but an adorable one at that. You will luv luv luv Serendipity!
