In Reply to: This is a hot topic and I need some opinoins. I have asthma and the lady downstairs..sm - choking
requesting to be placed in a non smoking area of the apartment complex. I guess I am naive - I thought they pretty much had to work with you on this as it is a disability - your asthma? It sounds like a chronic health problem. I am not really saying actual physical disability enough for the ADA but saying it is a health issue and your apartment management should be more cooperative. I do not agree with below posters who say nothing can be done.

I had one years ago. Don't remember the
equipment but they numb it up if they are going deep. Didn't bother me at all.
I remember a show years ago that I saw- sm
on squirrels. The show was about how they can figure any deterrent out. They had made an elaborate set up to a bird house, probably 100 feet long of booby traps, etc. to prevent the squirrel from getting to the food. I think it took them half a day to figure it out but eventually they got through all the obstacles and got to the food through trial and error. One would try and the others would learn from the mistakes, it was pretty incredible to see.
Oh, I remember back way years earlier
when Elvis was serving in the army overseas and he met Priscilla- get this, very hush, hush now but he brought her to live with him when she was only 14 or 16 years old, just a child and he was in his 20s. She finished high school in Memphis. Heard years later she was living with his family, not what happened. Now what would that be called today? Older guy, really young girl?
I am in California
They have not called yet with results. I am hoping that is a good sign (it is 2:30 PM PST) as with a positive, you'd think it would be a RED FLAGGED biopsy report. I could call but the longer I do not know, the longer I can pretend everything is normal.
I have never been to California but
in Florida my husband and I love Destin. It is very family oriented. We love to stay on Okaloosa Island which is just outside of Destin but just a 2-3 minute drive from restaurants, etc. I would stay away from Panama City as that is where most of the teenagers go to party, but that is just my opinion.
California
Central eastern California in the desert.
until the DNA is done in California (case)....they had
Well I do NOT believe Stern is the father at all........but Bahamian law is vastly diffferent from USA law....unfortunately. But there is the DNA case in California ongoing......
I think they didn't want Daniel's DNA accessible and is why he is buried in the Bahamas. However, Larry Birkhead may very well be the father.......so we will all still have to wait until the DNA case is over in California.
Patience............the truth shall prevail..................eventually....even if it takes decades..........it shall surface one day.
Central California . . .
a cool 85 for the high predicted tomorrow - yipee - we haven't seen the 80s in many moons. Still in the 90s here. We all better enjoy it. The Farmer's Almanac is predicting record breaking heat next summer. Hope they're wrong.
Oh come on! California is great. sm
I live near Palm Springs, and it's gorgeous, year round. Oh, as long as you don't mind anywhere from 100-118 degrees for 3-4 months each summer.
But it's a *dry heat* as they like to say, heh. Yeah, like the surface of the sun! Seriously, there is almost no humidity with the heat, which I do think makes a difference. I can't take hot AND humid.
The smart/rich people here leave for the summer and go to their nice cool homes in... Montana, or wherever. Then they come here for our nice, mild winter. (I don't even own a heavy coat.)
Not bad. But it's expensive here, and crowded.
Lots of flu in California
Flu vaccine only covered 40% of flu bugs so I hear.
Southern California $2.20-ish.

Vacations in California
Hi everyone,
The post below got me thinking...I live in WA, and I just wondered - from what I know, the nice beaches I know about in CA are private ones in Malibu. Are there any beautiful, clean beaches in CA that you can take your family to when on vacation? I love the beaches in Mexico, but would like to stay in the US. What do you recommend, if you live there?
California pizza
I always wondered if they were any good... now I can try one
Santa Rosa, California
Back in the mid to late 80's - I don't know what it's like now.
Picture this: vineyards, apple orchards, redwood forests, ocean 15 minutes away, average temperature 70-75 degrees year round.........oh, I miss it!!!
California Fires, so horrible. On FOX
they were just showing a San Diego reporter reporting on watching his home burning. He had lived there for 25 years. So sad.
Florida or California beaches
Which ones clearer? Florida as clear as ones in like Jamaica/MExico? What beaches are best for family vacation?
It depends where you live. In California, they
have beautiful mobile home parks with lots of amenities. The houses are so expensive there that many people are going to mobiles. In Texas, we have a lot of trailer park trash type places, but in Austin they are building really nice mobile home parks like in California. There aren't many of them though. A few other communities in other states are doing the same. They do depreciate, however. My husband used to sell them and many are crap. Check out ratings on the manufacturers.
Sonoma County, California nm

Again, I transferred in California to a different district...
and it did not cost anything. I just had to catch the bus at an existing stop for the school I transferred to, which was actually 76 miles from my house, but the bus stop was only 11.
In California, it comes from driver's licenses...
because they don't want to discourage people from registering to vote.
California Pizza Kitchen
makes a very good frozen pizza; for a while I was hooked on the 5-cheese and tomato. You can just see the calories dripping off of it.
don't remember Minnie, but I remember Kiki! Though I would rather not.

I was born in El Centro, California. I haven't
been there since we left when I was 7 years old (military brat). The town I graduated high school in is where I live now - I remember my senior year I couldn't wait to get out of this place. Seven years later and kids and I couldn't wait to move back - they have great schools!!
I may have to Google my birthplace and see if anything is like I remember. - thanks for the thoughts!
Hi; I was born and raised here, only went to college in California, my cousin recently......sm
bought a beautiful big house and land in North Carolina near the Virgina border, so much more for the $$$$, great area, I don't know about jobs because her husband is older and can take an early retirement, but it is very temperate there, usually lovely weahter, and not AS MUGGY in the summer as it is if you go further south, and also the seacoast is gorgeous. Hope this helps, God Bless, at least the days are getting longer here, it is actualy 53 degrees as I write this, I think the Winters get longer every year, though, in New England, even though I love NE. Take Care!
Definitely remember Buffy's Bark. Also had a Bassett Hound and remember his bark(EOM)
.
My husband is 7.5 years younger. Been together almost 20 happy years...nm
nm
My feelings; people shacking up together for years and years
and then all of a sudden deciding to get married don't need a thing, obviously. A shower should not even be given. I lived with my now husband a while (nowadays who doesn't!) before we married and I also had been married before years ago but he was not....so of course HIS mom wanted a shower. I told her absolutely not unless it was just the immediate family, his mom, sisters, etc, more like a celebration/get together. And so that's what we did. Showers are tacky, period. Unless it's a couple of young kids getting married straight out of the house and that doesn't happen much anymore.
Been with a man 13 years older, now with a man 4 years younger.
Younger is better, at least in my case ;)
Sorry, meant 75 cents. Still, that was years and years ago.
xx
I studied to be a scopist years and years ago
Back in the early 1990s I took a course called Note reader Scopist. They read court reporter notes (those long skinny papers that looks like a cash receipt) and types them into documents. I had found the course through something called At Home Professions but just didn't finish it because it was too expensive for me. But I am familiar with them and even found my book from the first course I took. Looking back I think it would have been a blast if I had kept up with it.
It is definitely legitimate. A lot has changed since the early 90s, so I'm not too familiar with the industry now. I do remember what was really weird was it didn't take a lot for me to learn it. For instance I could look at a line of court notes and see something that looked like: NV p srn - and I seemed to know exactly what it said. Just weird. My DH used to say that I understood it because I was an alien and my ship crashed in Roswell. HA HA HA Anyway...that's what I know about it. But if you Google note reader scopist or at home professions i'm sure you could probably find a lot of info.
I have been vegetarian on/off for 35 years, was vegan for about 5 years sm
not that hard. Right now, I am having so many issues with food allergies and celiac disease, having to give up nightshade veggies...nothing left to eat. I am eating some meat now, but not when the gastroparesis sets in!
Being vegan is not hard...unless you are a celiac. This is how I figured out the celiac part because so many of the meat analogs and vegan packaged foods use gluten for the protein and I got really sick from it. I gave up all the premade things and the whole grains with gluten and I was fine.
There is vegan and then there is VE-GAN. By definition, vegans don't wear, use or consume anything that is derived of animals...no leather shoes, most shampoos and toothpastes are off the list, as are deodorants. No wool or silk. Anything with soap usually has animal byproducts. It is very involved and rather difficult to do.
Giving up meat, eggs and dairy is no big deal, except for cheese. You hear that ad about "comfort proteins" in a baby formula and there is such a thing. Mother's milk, be it human, cow, goat, whatever...contains a chemical that triggers the release of endorphins in the brain so that feeding feels good in more ways than one. The purpose of this is ensure that the nursed young want to nurse and thrive. Human milk has a lot of these, so does cow's milk and cow juice triggers the same reaction in the adult human brain. Cheese is concentrated milk and therefore these chemicals are also concentrated. As a result, cheese is an addictive substance. This is the hardest thing to give up when going vegan. Vegan cheese substitutes are nasty and they don't melt. If a dairy-free cheese melts, it contains casein, an animal protein and not vegan.
I studied this years and years and years ago
Most definitely is legitimate. In the late 1980s I studied to be a note reader scopist through a group called At Home Professions. I loved it, but unfortunately could not continue due to no funds. It was reading the court reporters notes which looked like a grocery receipt with a bunch of letters scattered on it. The weird thing was I found it extremely easy. For instance I would see a line that looked like: av e cr, and for some reason I would know what it said. My DH told me that's because I'm an alien and my ship landed in Roswell. HA HA. Well I know that a lot has changed, after all it's been over 20 years since I took the first course and know a lot of it is computerized now, but it is most definitely legitimate and I've heard people like to do it. I think I remember one of the courses was in medical terminology and another course was in legal terminology. Should be able to find a lot of it on google, or maybe go to your local college if they offer it and talk to an instructor.
This has happened for years and years, where have you been?
Frank Sinatra, Elvis, the Beatles, and on and on. This person is acting very normal like the age she is. You would have to have been under a rock to think differently, like this was an abnormal behavior....
Lost my mom 23 years ago and dad 18 years ago.
My son was not even 1 when my mom died....she was only 50. My dad died at age 59. So even though I feel your pain....I would have been very grateful to have them into their 80's. I guess we take what we get and be thankful. Sometimes it is hard though.
I was married for 13 years and 2 years
after my divorce I met the most incredible man. He was also divorced, we both have 2 kids, and though we are not married, we have been together for 9 years. They are still out there, you may have to go through a few marginal ones before you find him, but they are out there and available.
My ex did that. What I remember was that it
was horrible in the summer and going under houses was not always the greatest experience. He would find dead animals and of course spiders, mice, rats.
Just remember: He's a MAN, he's not a god. LOL

Don't remember anything, just something SM
that felt like cramp and then I woke up. No damage.
My friend, who is quite tiny, said she was moved around quite a bit, but no damage done.
I feel they were excessively rough with you, but that is just my opinion. Also, it sounds like they did not give you enough sedation. You are supposed to feel very relaxed.
Wow! I can remember when ...
we charged $25 period to type it. Then I got to thinking how long I've been out of school. How depressing.
now remember..sm
Brooke also went to Bridgette to see if she could conceive around the same time Taylor did..so, Bridgette could have taken Brooke's eggs, saved them, and used them on Taylor. Anyway, why in the world would Taylor and Nick trust Brooke's daughter with their future child??? I mean come on, Brooke's throwing herself shamelessly at Nick, yet they go to her daughter for in vitro? Wow...
I don't remember the first one....
I couldn't stand looking at Roxy...*lol* - too much gum show......and I do watch the food channel a lot!!! I used to like Rachael Ray before she got REAL famous and glammed herself out. I so liked her when she lived in upstate NY doing the 30-minute meal show or $40 a Day show. Now I refuse to watch her - her voice is very annoying to me today.
GO_AMY!!!
I was 8 - Remember seeing it on TV (sm)
I remember it being such a shock because he had just always been there and seemed like he always would be.
Remember then from when I was a kid sm
my dad's company picnics, with horseshoes, bbqs, lots of fun
As we remember.....
I would like to ask everyone, as you remember the 9/11 attacks today, to also remember the bombing of the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995. The 9/11 attacks were far greater in scale and in death toll, and I mourn for those who died and for their families. I also mourn for the 168 people who died in the Oklahoma City bombing. Fewer in number, perhaps, but the lives just as precious. It was so hard for me to watch as rescue workers went through the rubble of the day care and pulled out those tiny bodies...
When we send our soldiers into combat, we train them and give them the best equipment available to defend themselves and destroy the enemy. The people who died on September 11, 2001 and April 19, 1995 were innocent civilians who had their lives ripped away in an instant, by people who had no respect for the sanctity of life and who were too cowardly to take their fight to the battlefield where it belongs.
Never again. We must be vigilant. These events occurred on our own soil. Each of has a duty to keep our eyes and ears open, and to cooperate with the increased security precautions our government has implemented. We are all soldiers in this war.
You THINK you remember until it comes down to it (sm)
When they are actually there in your care you have to remind yourself of exactly what babies can and can't do at certain ages. But maybe you are perfect. If so, I apologize O Great One. It ticks me off when people have smart-axe comments for no apparent reason.
thank you so much, was trying to remember the name of that myself, NM

Everyone does not think like you and I you have to remember that.

I can remember my mom when I was
a kid wore one every day, whether at work or at home, and those things back then definitely looked uncomfortable.
I'm trying to remember
but I do remember waking up feeling completely flushed hot on the inside, a pool of sweat in the middle of my chest, my heart pounding, thinking I would like to rip my clothes off and jump into the tub filled with ice. Stuff like that. They're quite nasty little episodes. Did you have one? Are you over 45?
and remember this
don't go crying the blues to anyone here when your insurance premiums and medical bills are totally out of control. It is awards like the one this person wants that make insurance unaffordable for countless Americans. any monies awarded in courts will be coming out of your pocket if you currently pay insurance premiums. Yes, I feel for the child, but money won't fix it. This costs everyone, not just the dog's owner. and it solves nothing. she still has not answered the question of what injuries the child sustained, either. to see financial renumeration above the costs of any bills incurred is unfair to EVERYONE.
You have to remember
It is very easy to take email and board postings out of context. I don't think that is quite what she meant. Sheesh.
