Actually, I am a bona fide accident!
Was even told so by my very Christian mother and father. He was supposed to have been sterile, courtesy some incident in the Korean War. My poor mother was in her 40s and I was child #5, the age difference between me and her youngest at the time was 12 years.
I watched a great documentary last night called "Jesus Camp." I highly recommend it to anyone--religious or non, and they can make their own conclusions about the movement portrayed in that movie. All I'm gonna say about it is "Dang!" Very eye opening.
How long have you noticed your hard drives lasts when you are on the computer 24/7. My computer is
doing odd things and it looked like the hard drive is getting bad. It is about 2-1/2 years old. Actually the whole computer is about 2-1/2 years old.
Bona Swedish Formula Laminate
Floor Cleaner. I use the cotton terrycloth cover they recommended.
This product says it's the environmenal choice as it is waterbased.
I stocked up and haven't had to buy it in 2 years.
Not exactly the Geek squad, but
my husband is extremely helpful around the house, can do anything from plumbing, electrical, you name it. When we married he had been helping out a couple of elderly sisters who gave him a few dollars when he showed up (considered family) and they would call and living not too far, he would go by and assist when he could. We moved about 30 miles away and I just had to put a stop to his going there because the way he works driving out of town so much and not having that much time to spend on his own, time to cease. You just have to say no but then you can always give them the number, tell them a little about the Geek services and be sure to mention the cost, I would think. The Geeks do not come cheap, we have used them so know but at the same time your husband should not be at their beck and call forever.
The Geek Squad associated with Best Buy SM
near me, know less about computers than I do, which is almost next to nothing.
Another band geek here
Also a flute player; principal flute in concert band my senior year, only flute in jazz band. Too much of a goody two shoes for drugs or alcohol or stretching exercises, even... did take part in a Vietnam war protest or two, and walked several miles to school on the first Earth Day, which accomplished exactly nothing because the diesel exhaust-belching school buses ran anyway, regardless of whether I rode them or not.
And I may join up with some friends for the "Teed Off Party" on the 4th of July....
At what point do you call the Geek Squad? sm
At what point do you refer someone to the Geek Squad to help them with their endless computer issues? My husband, a software engineer and computer guru, offered to help our friends/neighbors (a couple in their mid-60s) with some *computer issues* they said they were having. They are the type of people who can barely turn the thing on, do not care to learn much about troubleshooting or virus protection, and just use it really for e-mail and some web surfing. When my husband showed up it was infected with a virus and had Spyware all over the place on it and was about ready to shut down with the blue screen of death! Needless to say, they had no antivirus installed and no spyware software either. He spent hours working on it for them over a period of several days. I then spoke with one of them the other day and now their e-mail is not working. They said they clicked on *something* and now no mail will come in. It has done this before, they say, but they do not know how to fix it and can my husband come back to work on it? He does not mind helping people out at all, but we have 3 computers here at the house for him to maintain (including the one I use for work), full-time jobs, school, and not a lot of spare time to tinker around on their computer, which has really turned into Pandora’s box. I am thinking if the Geek Squad showed up and they actually had to shell out cash for a fix they might be more willing to learn some simple things themselves instead of waiting to be rescued? Not trying to sound ugly, but at what point do you tell someone to hire help??
Looks like someone's kid is on their computer.

My computer also
I am going to be buying a new one and have this one as back up and give my old back up away. But mine is 6 years now. But it is starting to grind and make noises. My neighbor that works on it says it is still okay but I think it is time to get a new one. He wants me to get an HP that has nothing on it and he will download Windows 2003 and take off the Vista. Will also help me transfer everything over. Needless to say, I have started backing up more lately. I am on my computer between work and play 12 to 15 hours a day and so to me it has paid for itself over these six years.
RE: Any computer pros out there? SM
Would like to see what sites my nephew has been in but he is smart enough to delete the history. Is there another way to check and then delete off the computer? Thanks.
Yep, messed my computer up big
time and other programs too. I also got a virus on my computer and my virus protection wasn't resolving the issue. Once I took of IE7 and re-installed IE6, no more problems, virus gone. My other programs work great too now. I don't recommend it at all.
I use my own computer and have a genuine
version of windows and still had a bunch of problems with it.
Something else needs to break on your computer.
Bake him another pie! :)
why were you on his *personal* computer anyway? sm
It sounds like you already have a trust issue with this person. Since he is still your BF and not your DH, I feel you had no right to invade his privacy. Maybe he had viewed those things a long time ago, prior to you being his GF. Besides that, I learned a long time ago not to go looking for things, because inevitably, you will find it. You snooped, now you are hurt, and have a very different view of this person. Your relationship is probably doomed now, because you will not be able to get past this. I am sorry for both of you.
Kitty and the Computer
My kitty likes to lay at my feet on my pedals. The long hair gets inside and causes them not to work properly. I am on my third pedal in 2+ years. You have to love being able to work from the comfort of your home though . . . with your cat by your side. I wouldn't trade it for the world. Just wish I could fall into a better work-at-home job.
My 2yo son is a computer whiz and...
my 6yo daughter is a budding artist!
Okay,I know these things aren't about myself but I am sooo proud of both my kids!
My son will "work" on his computer next to me (real computer). He navigates in and out of the web icons we have set up for him and loads his own CD roms and plays them! I only have to show him a few times how to do something and then he will master it.
Must take after his dad, the computer geek!
Most are compatible with any computer
It's a good idea to buy it from a store that has knowledgable computer salespeople, like Best Buy or CompUSA, or from a local computer store that you have worked with before.
When I replaced my hard drive a couple of years ago, the smallest one I could find was 80 gig. It really wasn't all that expensive, though.
I just hopped over to the CompUSA website. They are out of 40 gig hard drives but have a 120 gig for $49.99. I am putting a link below - hope it works.
Best way to ship a computer? sm
My daugther is moving to Spain and she needs to ship her computer tower over there. Does anyone know the best way? Quotes from FedEx and UPS were over $400! And I have seen how they throw those packages around so need to know if there is another way.
Thanks
Computer shorthand for D sm
D could also be used for DIL - daughter-in-law, IMHO is in my humble opinion, there are lots of shortcuts and a list should be available for you, don't have time to search now, but perhaps someone can give you a quick link, saves time. Kind of works like "TTFN" - Tiger's version of tata for now. LOL (laughing out loud), ROLF, rolling on the floor laughing.
I need to buy a new computer. Any ideas??
I need a new computer, and I do not know which brand is the best. I am going to wait until the after-holiday sales. I would love to get a mini-tower. This way my computer will be more portable. I do not want to work on a laptop, I tried it and did not like it. The company I work for will only program 1 computer with their software, so I want something portable. So far, I have tried Sony (Vaio laptop) and was not impressed. These are considered "disposable." I have had HP, which have been good computers with no problems. I recently obtained a Dell, which is okay, but everything you buy for it has to be from Dell and I do not like that. I would love to have an Apple, but have to run Windows XP. I know there is a way to do this, but I do not want to have to buy a lot of extras and I am pretty good with computers, but not an expert. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I tried to reasearch online and have come up with a lot of advertisers or I would have to suscribe to see the results. Thanks!!!!
I download to my computer..sm
and print from that, if I want to. You would need a UBS cable to attach to the camera and your computer, as well as some sort of software to post the pictures to. However, I also have a printer with memory card slots. If you use the memory card inside your camera, and your printer has a slot that it fits into, you can print right from the memory card. I have never done this, though. good luck. and YES, the books ARE confusing.
My computer is more than 5 years old - sm
I used to work 60 hours a week and have now cut down to less than 25. Mine is still humming away. Let me add that hubby is the computer king and takes care of any little issues I have. He says mine is still fine. I highly recommend Dell if you are replacing. This is my second Dell. Love them!
not computer savvy
How do you check the history on your computer? How do you know if there is a separate e-mail account? Thanks!
Slow computer
All of a sudden my computer is running as slow as mollasses. I used to know what to do but forgot. Even when I'm typing it halts and takes about 30-40 seconds to continue. Please help!

Panda Titanium - an old program
i get low pay from sitting at the computer all day
actually I think my neck problems are from my computer use, staring up at the screen for so long
They are hiding behind a computer
They know if they said it to the OPs face, it would be punched.
I see it on all message boards that I go to. Sometimes the OP is in the wrong but I do think there is a nicer, gentler way to put it.
NOTE: I am not referring to the one below, I have not read it. I am just talking about MB posters in general.
computer addiction
see below.
I'm not working - so why am I at my computer?
Today is the first day off I've had in about 2 weeks or more. Sometimes it feels like I haven't had a day off since the 5th grade. Weather is getting cold here in Oregon so bringing our plants inside (we're expecting a freeze tonight). I should be cleaning, quilting, and doing a ton of other things, so now that I've read this board I ask myself - why am I using my off time to type? HA HA HA - Okay I'm off to clean.
Only take a cellphone and computer away?
She would be sitting in a room without anything, no television, no books, no activities of any kind, nothing except 4 walls. She probably has been "mouthy" for sometime and it seems like she has gotten by with it. Sorta late in the game to rein in now cause at 18 she basically can be on her own. I would cut off any funding to vehicles, phones, etc., etc. if she completely go against your wishes. You have a child out of control but this has not just happened, right?
You are correct..it was my computer...Thanks! (NM)

go to start, my computer, C-drive
cookies to start - and if you can find a history click on there - but if he is tech saavy - he will have already deleted all that via tools, internet options, and from there you can delete files and cookies and history - that's another way to see.....tools (top of browser), internet options, then settings and then VIEW FILES.......but if he deleted them - you won't find them, unfortunately
question for you computer experts
Is it possible to send a song via email? I have a bunch of songs downloaded on my Windows Media. I don't know how to transfer them into email or even if it's possible.
Go to my computer, highlight the drive sm
and make it run. If it is a DVD, then you need to have a DVD drive. If a CD, then you should be able to make it play if you only have a CD drive.
my computer updated just fine--sm
with the downloaded windows update, but my smartset alarm clock did not. This is the SmartSet I am referring to, not my computer. thanks though.
I was ok in a computer-generated kind of way...sm
all real actors though. Visually very beautiful, even the gory scenes! Story so-so...that Gerard Butler kept my attention though!

Are you flashing your computer screen?
xx
Glad yours are helping.....my computer
xx
I have Vista on my home computer, XP on 2 others.
I cannot stand Vista. I now only use that computer basically to print things or run a simple Word document. I never had problems with it before having Vista installed. I tried to load my transcription programs to that computer and never was successful.
My other 2 with XP, never have problems with anything. I bought a used laptop for remote use simply because I could get it ith XP and not pay more since all the new ones start with Vista.
So you do regular maintenance on the computer..sm
Such as check for Windows updates, deleting your cookies and browsing history, scanning for errors, and defragmenting? If you need help with any of this let me know. I can give you instructions on it. I have Windows XP so that is the version I know about. I don't know about other versions. These things really make a difference.
I hate it when the dang computer wants to....sm
show its a$$. I have had the same issues with either the computer or internet connection. Sure does put a damper on your income.
I know the fustration of a car not passing inspection. My previous car, a VW Beetle, had tinted windows, and they were over the legal tint. SOoooo, nobody would give me an inspection. I paid $250 for that tint job and I loved it and said I am not taking it off. My bug was white and the dark windows just set it off. So finally we found a place that gave me the sticker. YAY!! But I don't have that car anymore. Last year I got a new car and I just sold the bug. I don't have tint on the new car though. And if I do I won't be getting past the legal limit.
Look at the bright side, at least the car is paid for. No note. It does suck you had to take it out of retirement.
If I can recommend one thing. Read The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. It won't solve your problems overnight but if you follow his advice it will in time. I know people who have and it works.
Vent all you want. I know how it is to need to vent. But beware some people on here can be pretty rude sometimes. I have experienced it myself. ;)
the reason noone is there is because a computer is calling you -
The telemarketers program their computers to dial numbers at random. When someone answers, the call is then routed to a person. If all their people are already on a call, then the phone either disconnects or else you just hear silence and you disconnect.
You can call your phone company and ask how to block unidentified callers or you can call the no-call list and get your name put on there so that they cannot call you.
april 1st computer worm?
I heard a blip on the radio -- is there something to be worried about? Is it something Nortons software will handle?
I swear by my computer gloves.
Foam strips along the bottom do the trick. I'm just symptomatic on one side, so I've sometimes worn both gloves on that side, one inside-out, in order to keep me from hyperextending as well as hyperflexing.
I'll never be without these for work, ever.
btw, f you're kind of in between sizes, order the smaller size, as they do tend to stretch out over time.

I bought me some reading glasses for computer use the other day sm
and I am seeing much better, feeling less headache tension, and not squinting to look at the screen. I love them. However, I have a funny problem I need help with! They keep getting foggy or glazed over. HELP!! I am not a glasses wearer either so this is all totally new to me. It makes no difference if I turn my desktop fan on or not. I clean them off and within a few minutes they are glazed back over again. Anybody got any solutions to this???? I have tried not using them and my eyes go bonko again. Maybe it's a cheap pair of glasses causing it? I bought plain jane cheap as could be until I saw if I could get used to it and it helped or not.
Anyone else get low back pain from sitting at the computer all day. Any

Anyone know how to get started having a computer program made
I have an idea I have been thinking about for a while, a software program actually. I think it is a good idea but I have no idea where to begin to try to have it made and marketed. If anyone knows I would really appreciate any advice you have.
Thanks!
