I'm not sure how it works on a built-in ...

but you should be able to play the DVD and, if the VHS player is also a recorder, you should be able to record a VHS tape. Otherwise you might need to hook up a second VHS recorder and tape from the DVD player. Like I said, not sure about a combo but you should be able to check the instruction book. Good luck.

I have a TV that has both the DVD and VCR built in..is that what you mean?
I LOVE electronics, but running them is a different story hehe!
Just built a new house.....
a couple of years ago and my husband and I did several different things throughout the floors in the house. The living room is hardwood floor. It looks really nice but it does tend to show dust more than linoleum or tile would. Our kitchen is next to the living room and we tiled the kitchen. It doesn't look tacky next to each other.
I would go for linoleum in the kitchen for several reasons actually. If you get water on the hardwood floor and it soaks in between the joints of the hardwood floor, it will swell and you will start to get some creeks in the floor. I think linoleum would hold up really well with all the spills that happen in a kitchen.
My husband and I actually went to a flooring place and looked at their back room of tile that was discontinued. Not only did we get really nice tile but we got it a heck of a lot cheaper because that tile was discontinued. I love our tile. We have it in the dining room, kitchen, foyer, and all the bathrooms. We have carpet in all the bedrooms and we have hardwood floor in the living room.
The hardwood floor, however, will add more value to your home than linoleum and that same goes for tile.

This is a brand new house, just built
Therefore there is nothing to compare it to. I don't know how they came up with the $200+ initially. But since the natural gas bill rarely runs more than $30-40 per month even in winter, I am not going to do averaging on it again, even after the 12-month period is up.
It's worth it for the electricity because it runs around $100 a month with averaging and it goes up and down a lot more. I live in Oklahoma and it can get as high as 100 degrees plus in the summer, and down to zero or below in the winter.
We just moved out of modular and built (sm)
We lived in a modular, what some would call a 'double-wide', for about 8 years, and while it was by no means what one would call a trailer, neither was it as sound as a site built house. It was a great starter home, but there were a couple of things about it that anyone looking to buy a modular should be aware of. The first thing is that resale on modulars/manufactured homes is not as brisk (at least in my part of the country) as a regular, site-built home. We ended up selling ours via land contract. The second thing to be aware of is that these homes off-gas. If you move into a new house, there is going to be a smell associated with that new construction but in a manufactured home, because of the way they are built, on an assembly line, some things are done differently than in a traditional house. There is a lot of formaldehyde used in the construction of these homes.
Heating and ventilation are other things to be concerned about, as well as insulation, and what type of foundation to put underneath the home. My suggestion is that if you go with a modular/manufactured home, go with a full slab.
As far as settling goes, any house is going to settle. If the home is set up properly the settling will be held to a minimum, but if it isn't done well, the settling will be more obvious. I would check with the BBB where you are looking to buy and see if there are any complaints on file with them re: the company/ies you are looking at.
Another thing to consider: Where are you putting this home? Many subdivisions have regulations against modular homes of any type, including the one we moved into. These people (small subdivision) freaked out completely when they found out we were building a house in THEIR subd. and that we lived in a modular at the time. I guess they thought the trailer trash was coming to town...let's just not go there.
We were able to go through a service where we hired a consultant who is a licensed builder to guide us through the process, and we actually did the general contracting ourselves. We managed to save a significant amount of money in the process, and while there were very stressful times we managed it well and are extremely pleased with the results. While we are not what could be considered tree huggers, we did want to build a house that was more environmentally friendly and energy efficient. There are several ways to do that, and it really is so much simpler than you may think. We just moved in about a month ago, and we do still have quite a bit to do, trim, paint, landscaping (we have a beyoootiful mud pit right now), but it is so very much worth it.
In any event, good luck with whatever you decide to do, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

New retail buildings being built when...sm
nearby, multiple relatively new retail buildings still have available space for rent or have been abandoned.
cat owner and just built a house 3 years ago -
I used 2000 sq feet of tile that is mottled with several colors and then 1000 sq feet of teak. I have 4 cats (one Maine Coon who is nearly as big as some dogs!) who are rough and tumble when they play. If I had it to do again I would go with a lighter color of wood floor. Teak is a medium color and does show scratches where it is darker. Just my 2 cents. Good luck. :-)
modular/manufactured (double) are built the same
the modular comes in sections, the manufactured comes in halves. The specifics are the same.
I so don't agree w/you...Oprah built a school in...
you think she would have built the school for girls somewhere NEAR DARFUR where they are beyond poor. The people in S. Africa have lots and lots of $$ and as a matter of fact, I read about Oprah's school there, that the kids there had their CELL phones taken away and that the rule is the parents cannot visit unless they get written permission from her school. KIDS WHO HAVE CELLPHONES go to her school....HOW POOR ARE THESE CHILDREN, really....
get real please...........
The FIRM is great. I built 2 steps for it. nm

My husband built special houses outdoors for
our cats. We have strays, which we have collected over the years. He built a couple small houses that look like doghouses. He installed infrared heat bulbs inside each house -the kind you can buy at a pet store to keep reptiles warm. He bought guards that go around the bulbs so that the animals don't actually touch the bulbs, which I think you can get at a Lowe's or Home Depot. It may sound complicated, but it did not take him long at all. We have used these houses for years and the cats love them. I can look out my back window on a cold day to see 6 cats(3 in each house)keeping warm in those houses. A girl I work with liked them so much she had him make one for her cats. Gee, maybe we should start a business!
It doesn't matter "where you stand." What works for you is fine. What works for me is fine.
Comparing ourselves as to frequency is ridiculous.
Let's see if this works

WW Works
I am a successful WW-er, having lost over 75 pounds. WW allows you to have all your favorites, but in a sensible fashion. There is no food category that is not allowed. That's the key for me. WW trains you in how to eat with healthier food choices and it is definitely a lifestyle change as regards food choices. Of course, as with any weight loss program, you cannot return to eating whatever you want in unlimited amounts once you have lost your weight. You must continue to take the tools you were taught and use them each and every day with your food selections. I would definitely recommend attending meetings, though, as accountability is always helpful in staying the course.
it works for me! LOL. (nm)

Nothing works better than
hanging out in the sun to dry, so fresh smelling, great for sheets also.
What works for my little one...
We always alternating Tylenol and Motrin every four hours. This works better than giving either one by itself. I put him in a tee shirt and his underwear and use cool compresses on his head. Hope your little one is better soon!
what works for me
is medicine, Maxalt.
This works for me!
No but I know what works well sm
I used green tea patches in the past. They don't sell them anymore (probably because it was too good and you'd have to get an Rx), but you can still find them at sites on the internet. Also Hoodia is really awesome. I am taking Hoodia 2 a day and the pounds are just flying off. It is something from cactus discovered that the natives take in the jungle for stamina and to keep fit. It is not expensive at all. I got mine on e bay but found it and also green tea pills at Walmart not expensive. I have had more energy and feel better since I have been taking these 2 things and total cost for the 2 was no more than 25 bucks for the month. Sorry I don't know about the product you asked about but I wanted to suggest to you some cool things. Good luck!
Try T-Gel. Works for us.
..
This works!
I did the same. It only took one summer (last year) of doing this and then we slowly tapered off the chore chart. I would "forget" to print it off the computer from time to time. Since then I no longer have to ask but when I do it is already done, just had to get in the habit of doing it without question, I think. My child is like OPs that he really is a great kid but for some reason brushing teeth was a nightmare twice a day every day. The only difference in our allowance chart was that for each item completed (without being asked or questioned) my child would get 25 cents - totaled at the end of the week. He still had to do everything, it was just a matter of initiative and no arguments on his part. I think max would be $5 a week or something like that. I had it calculated out so I new there was a limit. Truth be told, he asked for more than $5 of stuff every time we went to the store (and that was another fight) so this did double-duty in that if we went to the store he had to use his own money. Amazing how picky kids get when its their money.
Yes, but I am not too sure how that works.
Is that like a second morgage?
Do you barrow against your house at a lower APR?
what works for me -sm
I get a massage once a week NO MATTER WHAT! I have been going to the same lady for 5 years, who gives me a break on the price. For 30 mins it is $25, which is a bargain and SO worth it. I also schedule lunch every Friday with a friend of mine and go nearly no matter what else. You have got to make time for yourself and be selfish about it. Best wishes! :-)
If you have MS Works - sm
Use the spreadsheet program and throw it in there. Then I think it's data/sort and go from there.
Yes, please let me know how it works out(sm)
The bedroom is still quite cold at night depending on the temperature outside when you close the door. Hubby never cared because as a child, his room didn't have heat either, so he was used to it, but now that he's older, he's getting to be a little bit too much to handle.
He tried a gas wall heater but it used to much fuel. We tried an Eden Pure, but it died before the winter was over.
He only needs the room around 60 so he cut a hole in the wall above the door and put a fan in to draw the heat into his room but the fan is so noisy, it's hard to get a good night's sleep.
It works!
When mine were smaller they had more fun unwrapping and playing with the boxes.
They are all between 12 and 17 now. I told them to count their blessings if they get Christmas dinner this year let alone presents. This year kinda stinks, but I am sure they will get a few things they each want. I always figure it out.
where my DH works
There are boards (electronic and physical) where employees can post job trades all over the country they would like to make. It has not included houses yet, but you might try local employers near your home or chamber of commerce pages of your nearest town where people would be looking on the internet from far away.
However, that only works if...
people on welfare are being tested, otherwise, they just end up there eating up more of our tax money, so I really don't know if that is a good idea. My point was that I don't see why one would find it humiliating.
Hope It Works
You're welcome. Let me know if it works for you.
I hope that works for you!
Good luck! :-)
Here's how it works at our household....sm
This is for our 6-year-old....
1. Verbal warning to stop the negative behavior.
2. If she continues then she receives a time out for 6 minutes. Time out is spent in a chair and she is allowed to do nothing while sitting there.
3. If she continues with the negative behavior or talks back about having the time out then she loses TV privileges for the day.
4. If the negative behavior still continues then the restrictions are increased to not being allowed to play with the neighbor next door if it's early in the day, or not being allowed into the art room if it's after dinnertime (her favorite room to go to is the art room).
5. If the negative behavior still continues then if it's early in the day she is put down for a nap as often times a nap will get the bad behavior to stop, and if it's around dinnertime or later she is put to bed early.
Kids respond to consistency so be sure that whatever route you take with your kids that they know ahead of time what correct behavior is expected as well as the consequences for negative behavior. Reward them when they're being good for a certain time period. Smaller kids respond well to stickers and a sticker chart that they can redeem "x" stickers for a small prize. We use a grab bag of things I got at the dollar store that she is allowed to grab something out of the bag (without seeing what is in there) every few days for good behavior. When she came to live with me at age 4 (she's our foster-to-adopt child) she had horrible behavior and I would remind her every day if she was good she could have it at the end of the day, then weaned it to every other day, every 3rd day and now it's used once a week. Initially I would get through all 5 layers of discipline constantly with her but now it's very rare that I have to go past the TV restrictions to get her to make the right choice and behave.
Neither my husband nor I believe in spankings and even after the adoption is finalized in a few months we will not spank her. It's more effective to take away privileges and that lasts longer than a swat on the butt does.
My son is young and works....sm
He went to a lot of trouble to get me a necklace that was a heart, said mom on it and had little "fake" diamonds. He is young, loves to work and it took a lot to save his money to buy gifts for everybody himself. I offered to help but he refused. This is not a necklace I would have chosen myself but because it was carefully selected by somebody that loves me that is what makes it so special. While it might not be something I would "normally" wear. You can bet because of the love and thought that was put into it I will proudly wear it daily because it was carefully chosen for me. How do I know? I was with him shopping and he was about in tears because he wanted me to "go to a different spot" so he could make his special purchase without me watching. While it didnt cost hundreds of dollars, yet was not cheap for a young person to buy I will cherish it forever and most certainly wear it proudly right along with the "real diamond" jewlery that I do have. If you ask me it is just as beautiful as it was a gift from the heart.
If you know anyone that works at a hospital, they
and wind up throwing the old ones away. That is how I got one in my possession. Old or not, it could still be resourceful at points even in our new wave of technology online. Just a thought.
Yes, there is something that works, I know because hubby
did have sleep apnea, which is not just snoring but actually could be deadly. I knew what it was before his sleep study. He snored tremendously bad and worse when he was extremely tired. His brother who also has fell asleep, running off the road. Back to the deadly part of it, your esophagus collapses during periods of apnea and a person can suffocate. After sleep study, hubby put on continuous positive airway pressure. He always sleeps on his back and it has been extremely easy for him to wear. There is not a single peep out of him at night any more, total silence. Not only the quiet at night but also the quality of sleep is so improved for him. If you love the person in your life this is happening to, you will definitely sit up a sleep study and see.
If you find something that works, let me know!! sm
I suffer from allergy/sinus problems all year round. Last night my face was throbbing with pressure and pain. Not fun. My doc gave me Wellbid-D for it, which helps some. And I use saline spray occasionally, too, especially when it's windy or dusty. I probably should use it more. To make things even more complicated, Oklahoma (where I live) passed a law that everything containing pseudephedrine has to be kept inside the pharmacy and bought directly from the pharmacist. It has cut down meth labs here in Oklahoma something like 75%, which is terrific, but it makes life difficult for us sinus/allergy sufferers.....
Oh, thank goodness I did not get the other that really works
because I used on my child at a young age, they do not even produce it any more, first name Glovers Mange Medicationhe and then Glovers medication. My daughter had what looked to be cradle cap but she was older, toddler. Being elderly does not excuse a person for being nice. I could not get what I volunteered to get on my own, she owed me zilch for buying it and I told her that when I gave it to her and if she did not want throw it AWAY. I never go through her medicines to see what she has or does not have. You can no longer buy the Glovers but the pharmacist suggested a green tea type solution- his choice, not mine but from now on I will know just not to be available to buy anything. Looking to be offended, by my aunt?? No, always there to try to assist and I can be offended each and every day if I wanted to have that done by calling someone here in town, say city hall, the telephone company, cable. Loads of others who work in the offending business. By the way, I am also considered elderly and I have aches and ailments like the next person but that does not mean I can be rude just because my neuropathy kicks in.
That works during the day for the most part, but...
at night I give him a set amount before I go to bed. If he eats it all, I get woken up at 4 in the morning! He'll pull on the blinds, knock over my lamp, and if I shut the door he starts digging at the carpet (and I'm renting!). I tried making him exercise more, but he usually just stares while I play with the toy!
Wednesday works
Hi trose,
Wednesday will work...ya get the info from the beginning of the week and what their plans for the wknd are.
A relatively new tradition.....On Wednesdays, my mother (who is 70 years young) and my sister J (46) and her daughter Pricia - short for princess Patricia (3) all have a sit down dinner at J's house....sometimes real fancy or sometimes just Sabrett hot dogs with all the trimmings....and tea parties.....1004 miles away from where I am.
I remember the teen years with the boys....art shows and portfolios, the football, track and baseball practices and games, them trying to get dressed in the back seat of the car while trying to shove something down their throats and the part time jobs....I kinda miss it.

it works to do what - relieve your
hitting a child is just an adult's way of throwing a temper tantrum. I'm not saying that a toddler should be explained things to, but often times just a firm voice can do the trick.
I have 3 boys and time-outs last longer than a spanking would and it gives me a chance to chill out. Inflicting pain on someone does not teach them not to do something. It teaches them to inflict pain on others.
I agree....what works for one does not

Yes, Lysine always works for me.
I take it as soon as I notice any sign. Has always worked for me.

I have an alert with all 3 credit reporting agencies. You do have to keep it in place by calling every 3 months, but it DOES work because I tested it by applying for new credit and the store said they had to call a phone number (mine) to verify it. Sorry this happened to you.
Thank you -- my husband works
for a maximum security prison and we have tried to tell our son of the consequences of such actions as he matures. I'm hoping as he does mature that his impulse control will also improve, but who knows. Thanks for your input.
