Snow?! What snow? LOL I live in south...sm
Mississippi. We rarely have snow so I can't relate, but I think the snow is beautiful though. I tell ya, a couple of years ago my husband and I went to upstate New York during March or April, not sure now which. I froze to death. I seen enough snow to get my fill. It was a bitter cold too. I am not used to that. A cold front had come through so I don't know if it normally snows there that late in the year or not.
last time we had snow was Jan 1977....nm
Born in the south, raised in the south, still live here and WHAT?
I do not love fats and butter, never. South Georgia is about as southern as you can get. I do not want to clog my arteries and eat organic as much as I can. You cannot speak for everyone, only yourself.
I live in the south and here a few miles south of Atlanta
it is around 14 this morning. I had to go out but layered clothes, put on socks for a change, headgear and even gloves and have a really good coat with hood but fur on the inside so I was cozy. Supposedly even colder tomorrow.
South here too...but
nm
Hey ya all, I am from the south so
I am heading west. I loved visiting California also. I just love my traveling though, bitten by the bug years ago
Same here. I'm from the South, too. nm

3.39 here in south AL n/m

I'm further south than you
Down here near Albany, GA and FREEZING! Worst part is we don't have heat in our house, just little room heaters.
One trick I learned from my gram, turn the oven on and leave the door open a little. Don't leave it on long though or your electric bill will go up! But if you need to knock the cold off the kitchen that will do the trick.
I wish I had one of those snuggles blankets I keep seeing on TV!
Not just in the south.
I had a friend in North Dakota who also did this.
Come to South MS, down here everyone....sm
talks like me basically. I never knew it until I went up north and then I was like OMG. I talk way different than these people. I thought I talked like anyone else. I was wrong.
opinion on the south
I was rasied in Fayetteville NC and Charleston SC being the army brat that I am - I have to say that Charleston is a great family town, lots of things for the family and kids - parks museums, forts etc. The schools are exceelent and I loved it. I still have family and friends there and it is just beutiful. Affordable too. Employment for the others in you home is veried as well.
In the south we would call that
trailer folk trash- just not accepted
I am just south of Reno...
I could meet you at Brew Brothers for a microbrew....or two....or three.....
ENJOY!!
What part of the south are you in?
Where I live, deep south, women certainly go that. Do not put an overall blanket on each statement, especially about the south because we already have to live down what others think of the south.
Actually, no I cannot tell you live in the south because
I was raised here and have no idea what you are talking about. Cannibal- that sounds like UGH to me, big time and the other porkchop with all those trimmings. Never ever darling. By the way, what part of the south? South Florida??
Why would anyone think the south only likes
country?? Ugh. I have lived here all my life and I cannot stand it. My tastes are more opera, beautiful love sounds, Gershwin. I could not tell you 1 name of a country song. Please do not group us all together. Folks just making assumptions - again.
Say what, in the south we have double
names for males also, since when did you think it stopped at females?
Well, it's hot. I live in south MS, so it's hot.
And humid. But it's actually not as hot as some places up north!
I think I maybe just had not eaten much in the last few days. They don't let you give blood if you are anemic. I have been turned down many times because of that. I have to cut myself off of iced tea for a couple days then I'm usually okay to donate. I am just typing, had a latte, drinking some tea now, will eat some stuff in a while. Maybe I am tired, too, it's been a tad stressful around here recently. Maybe I will sleep tonight! That would be different. I should probably think about re-establishing my relationship with my Dr. since I finally do have ins. now.
yes, ma'am....where in south FL?
xx
Wow you must live in the south?
Never heard of jowl meat and hot water cornbread? I am a yankee so be nice...just never heard those foods before...sounds like a good time!
See how the south is slammed?
She says she is a yankee down below. Mother told me never to assume......
I am not slamming the south....just never
heard of any cooking like that anywhere else thats all. Was seriously interested in that type of food...always like to learn about new foods...please don't misunderstand and think I'm slamming anybody....just like the differences in all of us!
North/South
Doesn't matter what side we come from, we are all here for the same reason and by the same God. My grandfather used to tell me that the south did whatever they could to survive and the north had more money so they were technologically advanced and better educated. That changed a long time ago. I would say we are all pretty even now days. My husband is from Germany and lived in WI before coming here to the heart of the bible belt, and he still can't wrap his mind around sweat tea or cornbread. He says I'm eating cardboard. Just a thought..
hi there - I'm in south florida....sm
and due to the multi-multi ethnic groups here - MULTITUDES of different groups - we have it all in the supermarkets....
You never had chopped liver? Never eaten chicken livers and onions together just fried up? Never had chicken livers wrapped in bacon and then cooked? Ramaki's I think they are called (can't remember)....
The Argentinians I just read eat twice as much beef as Americans....not a good thing...*lol*
When I first moved to the south, I once saw this guy sm
mowing a lawn (up a steep hill) with short shorts, cowboy hat and cowboy boots. Obviously, the boots were slippery so he kept slipping and trying to dig his heels in the grass. I almost crashed from laughing so hard.
South Beach here.
I started South Beach just today since the New Year fell in the middle of the week. My husband and I have done it before and it really works pretty much effortlessly. I am working two jobs from 8:00 - 1:30 (Real Estate) and my transcription job from 2:00 - 10:30, so this seems to be the only way to lose weight for me given the fact that I have no free time or energy to exercise. We did it before last spring and the weight loss is quick and pretty painless once you get over the initial carb withdrawal. I would love some support and could offer some as well. You can e-mail me directly at mandie573@yahoo.com. Thanks and good luck.
Deep south - only hog I know is as in
pigs.
I'm south of that school sm
about 60 miles. Still in shock. It's all over the news down here. My thoughts are truly with the families.
The South of France....NM

Yes, I agree. I am from the south too nm

I'm betting he's from the South
That's something that's very often done in the Deep South.
people from the south will try anything once!
never heard of peanuts in Coke but when we moved to GA, when we got ice cream, they would ask if we wanted wet nuts. Say what? Then I saw you can buy them in the grocery store.
You have to remember, these are the same folks who eat crawfish. In the north, we call that bait. Our adult babysitter said she used to go to the creek and snap the heads off crawfish and suck it out. I would have to be might desparate to do that!
it may be different where you live but in South
sickening, really.
when i lived in the south, they said
i had a 'northern' accent. I'm born/raised Californian. When we moved to midwest, teased kids for having southern accent. however, when my husband used to work all over the country 40 yr ago, he could tell almost exactly where someone was from, hearing them talk a bit. With all the travel/moving around now, accents are there, but not nearly as identifiable, and ofttimes a mixture ...
After 5 years in south MS
I still have a Minne-SOH-ta accent that I don't believe has diminished a bit!
in the south we still have FLUFF! sm
Being originally from Michigan (Detroit area) one of the biggest items that is native to the area is Vernors ginger ale You can get it in some stores in the south but in Michigan you can get it in the restaurants etc. Its kind of like one of those drinks you either love or hate and there is no in between. I was raised on it and LOVE IT!
Now living in the south, "southern food" being the thing, good and fattening! haha
Never heard of your oatmeal/ice cream cookie thing but it sure sounds good!
South here and mine only
$73.00 this month. Have had the air on some but really reasonable temperate weather so far and usually hot, hot, hot. I have ceiling fans that I use, especially in the bedroom of a night so sleep comfortably.
snow!!!
Hey, I'm in upstate NY too! I am so excited. I have been working from home for almost two years and I swear ever since then there has been no snow!!! When I had to drive 30 minutes to work we got dumped on all the time!!
snow
I live right outside Albany and we have only had an inch or so here and there. Looking forward to staying home!
Snow
We have snow here in PA too. Started this morning and hasn't stopped.
They say it will snow until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Schools closed early and some have called off for tomorrow already.
Snow
Mt. Mitchell State Park, just a little NE of Asheville, North Carolina, off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Had snow to my hip first week of May. May start falling early. Call to check.
Snow - still - nm

Snow
I live near Scranton, PA. We have about 4 inches and school is canceled.
Snow, Oh, NO!
Nothing here yet in Upstate NY, but they are calling for 1-3 inches overnight. I'm not looking forward to this at all. My friends all laugh at me, once the snow falls, you'll never catch me outside unless it's absolutely necessary. On the upside, they're saying that for Halloween it's going to be 62. Very strange weather here.
Snow!
Hey yall! There is snow on the ground in South Texas (between Galveston & Houston). I looked outside when starting my shift at 0200 & it is there....will probably all be gone by 10 though.....we almost never get snow here.
Snow...
You can definitely have the snow from WI.....If things continue on the way they have started we will never see green grass! I think it April before all the snow melted from last year!
snow
Wow that is a mess of snow. I am originally from NY/NJ and I really miss the true meaning of a snow advisory.
Hope you don't live in the South!! LOL (nm)

I'm from the good ole' south. Would never dream of doing that! sm
But, on the other hand, I'm not against a woman's choice to do so either..Although my in-laws would definitely have a tad bit to say bout that one!
Thank you!! I was raised in the south by 2 southerns
and this type of behaviour is completely not tolerated! We moved to the midwest when I was older and still have never been talked to like that until we moved to the east coast!! Maybe it's normal here to not have manners or respect for women??
