I'm another one; I loved OP's explanation of her views sm

You expressed very succinctly what I feel. The world is my church and I don't need "group think" telling me how to live from some old book that was a mythological explanation for natural forces that ancient humans could not understand.
Anyway, you are not alone!

Under Neat That (the caller was giving directions for placement of the next line, and did not intend for this to appear on the cake. It would be like typing our dictator's instructions, like, Um, Transcriptionist, go back to the top and add Dr. Kip Jones in the CC list).

The explanation
I don't think it has anything to do with our current economic crisis or young people's opinions about their future.
I suspect that a generation ago, our parents were saying the same things about our generation though.
In general, it's my opinion that the youth of today have less respect for their elders than we had for our elders, and less of a work ethic also. But our elders most likely said the same thing about us. And their elders probably said it about them.
I've found I get better service when I try to strike up a friendly casual conversation with the person I'm forced to work with over the phone.
When that doesn't seem to work, I resort to asking them their name, recording the date and time of the call, etc. If I'm making the appointment in person (like at an appointment where you schedule the next appt on your way out the door), I always make sure I get written documentation of the appt. The reason? Back in 1997-1998, I had a doctor's secretary insist I didn't have an appt for that date and time, and she insisted that the doctor had left for the day already. Two problems with that claim: I had the written appointment card AND the doctor's car was still in the parking lot.
Which leads me to another point: If the doctor him/herself cared enough, the clerks wouldn't be acting like that!
ooh thanks for the explanation, I had NO CLUE!!!
I offered an explanation
I did not say every smart person has substance abuse problems or mental issues, I merely gave my opinion on how or why this may be so, since you seemed to think such scenarios were impossible.
LMAO! That might also be an explanation! ...nm

I have heard you can put explanation on some reports, ie,

it could just be your csection scarring is obscuring a clear view. Sometimes, things will just show up better from another angle. Don't panic until someone pushes the panic button. good luck to you.
I doubt this explanation....roux is french
Roux in French means to cook equal amounts of butter/flour together to make/thicken sauces.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roux
However, medically speaking here's a descript. of what name means/comes from:
The name (Roux-en-Y) comes from the restructuring of the small intestine to form a Y-shaped structure. One arm of the Y carries digestive juices and the other carries food. The two arms come together farther down the intestine where digested food can be absorbed.

Again, the end times. I'm sorry, but what other explanation is there? Steroids in our meat? I don

So many posts against my views
but I posted about where I lived, in an association, and many came back against my saying it was so nice here, quiet, no loud music, no bullies to threaten your kids but yet people seemed to think I was being I guess "uppity." I only had 1 problem since 2004 and that was the pit sending flames into the trees next door, unattended, with their wooden area adjoining mine. I stand by what I said but if you are moving, got the perfect place for you. I am so happy here, not like others think an association is. The people here are really nice, not bothersome and we take pride in how we live. Oh, here goes the flaming!!!
My views reenforced....
I was posting below about the fact about females being more aggressive and such. Last night I was watching some news and Faith Hil and her husband Tim McGraw on a tour together. Tim McGraw not only had a woman to snatch a ring from his finger, he asks for it back and then calls security and then a woman in the audience grabs Tim in his crotch and you can hear Faith telling the woman not to be grabbing her husband's balls! This is all over the news this weekend and need I say more???
Ok I have a problem with some of your views...sm
And I will tell you why....
It may very well irk you to no end to hear that someone is "single" with children as a reason why they are more entitled. Okay I have never been on food stamps before and I have never been a single parent before, but there are single mothers who were married and had a baby and the daddy just up and leaves or they divorce for some reason or other and he doesn't pay child support. I lot of single mothers did not just set out to go have a chld with no husband. Sometimes mistakes happen and people are not careful. If one can only get a job at McDonalds making minimum wage how can they possibly buy food and pay everything else on that pay? If you have 2 parents it seems to make more sense to me that maybe 2 can make more money and may not need food stamps thus the reasoning why being a single parent might entitle them to food stamps. Now as for the lady who is abusing the system that lives with her boyfriend with a good job that is different. She is abusing the system and does not deserve them. My point is with single mothers they don't always not plan. There are many circumstances that can make a person become a single parent beyond their control.
Thank you also for your views and insights nm

Interracial dating views
Do you think most people still have a bad opinion of interracial dating and should that matter anyway?

If you can't reconcile your views on $, spending sm
and happiness (i.e, that both of you deserve to be heard and to be happy), you are rapidly heading for divorce court. Go read some Suze Orman financial advice for women, for a start, and then get some counseling. He is obviously irresponsible with money and you are not. How old are you two, out of curiosity?
they have some system now that they can sign up for to track who views sm
their myspace. not sure how it works because i didn't sign up for it, but i see it posted all the time. i view my daughter's friends sites all the time. noone has said anything to me yet about it, but i do communicate with a lot of them on there as they are friends and any friends of my children are friends with me as well. they know i wouldn't going ratting off on them unless it was something majorly in the wrong.
NEVER do I watch shows where I know celebrities will try to further their political views
But then again, I do look at the pictures in the morning of their pretty dresses :)
Loved it!!!. nm

I loved NC
I was 20 miles north of charlotte. I think NC is a beautiful state. I would love to go back some day to a metro part of NC.
We have had them and loved them...
got my daughter one when she was about 13 (she is 25 now) and she has had 3 others since. Ours were all descented, though they did still smell some, but just gave them baths, which they love! We got such a kick out of watching Tinker (our first one) run throughout the house stealing socks and hiding them under the couch. Never had a problem with them, they sleep most of the time, ours were never aggressive towards us. Our cat and ferret got along wonderfully. Just like anything else in a cage, you have to keep it clean, but that is to be expected.
Me too and I loved it. nm

Loved my mom, but.... sm
Sunshine, when I look back, I wish I had not taken what my mother said as gospel. I would have used my own discretion as to right and wrong behavior and SHE would have to grow up and accept it. You know in your heart what is right and wrong or you would not have asked us for advice. Your Mom needs your love, but you also need to be your very own person. You have a new life now which includes your husband. Do it for him, go with him and if they don't want to go along, tell them you will look forward to celebrating with them next day. In the meantime, they can "be your guest and have a good time until you get home." You take care, be strong!! All the things Mom teaches us are not exactly the right thing to do. Be fair.
Loved it!
These things happen all the time and we have to laugh at it. Just read your local newspaper for more. We are wordsmiths, so we have to have a little humor now and then. We were celebrating a birthday, an anniversary and something else all at once, so we asked to have "Happy Occasion" written on the cake. We had a terrible time getting "occasion" spelled correctly by those behind the counter. Blame the school system, not the cake decorator.
LOVED IT
although it was sad, it was very funny in parts, and had an awsome ending, can't believe the reviews were so bad, favorite movie since The Holiday. Loved seeing Denny from Grey's Anatomy in it. And yes, I need a poster of Gerard Butler now on my wall, LOL!!! My new fantasy man.
Loved it. Thx

Yes and I LOVED IT
I loved that show--how you doin.. Heehee
My dog is very much loved thank you ---
what I mean is that I will never, never get rid of him so that no matter how much he irritates me by marking up everything I have in the house, chewing up my things that he can get to, scratching up my hardwood floors, pulling down my curtains when he wants to play, then I have about 10 more years of headaches because I love him dearly and he is not leaving this house!
So don't feel sorry for my ball of fur - he is very spoiled and very much loved!
I loved 4H
But could be because my best friends mom taught it and we were all together all the time. I have to admit the most I remember about 4H was learning to can food, basic nutrition, I knitted my first pair of slippers, but at 48 its been over 30 years, so I don't remember much, just that I had fun and learned stuff. Here in our town (now on the west coast) they do have 4H groups around. But nice to know there are other 4Hers out there.
P.S. - Not sure if you remember that girl scouts went like this - brownies grade 2&3, junior grade 4, 5 & 6, cadettes 6 & 7, seniors 8 and maybe 9 (can't) remember. Now there are so many branches and I get offended when they call say you have brownies and then girl scouts. I consider all levels girl scouts. Well its been over 20 or so years since I've been in girl scouts too so lots have changed.
loved it!
Thanks and Amen!
I did and LOVED it
I just love all of them, and thought they all looked great. I still watch their original MTV series DVD and laugh myself silly.
I'll keep watching it (provided I remember when it's on...I have a terrible memory about that kind of stuff!).
That made my day, I loved it !!...nm

ooh, your's too - I LOVED YOUR POST....
I too have friends of ALL denominations - so whose is right?? I think much of it is myth....the adam and eve story whereby if woman was made from his rib, then men should have 1 less rib than woman, right? WRONG....my plastic surgeon (who I work for) confirmed that both men and women have 12 ribs.......
so that adam and eve story was shot to you-know-what once he said that to me....
oh and he's a religious Jewish person *LOL*
I loved reading this. sm
I also read it on the Comedy board and shared it with my Bible School class. Will share wtih my adult Sunday School also.
Loved the original. sm
I haven't seen this one yet, but I will. A couple of columnists have said that it is not as good as the original. One said J. Travolta was fabulous but the rest were just okay and not as good as the musical. Someone else said it didn't seem to live up to it's hype. I guess to each his own.
If you really loved me, by Ann Rule. sm
she writes true crime books, really excellent writer, one of my favorites. However, I need to mix it in with chick lit, recently finished The Devil Wears Prada. Had the Nanny Diaries on my mp3 player (I thought the stories had a similar tone). Also like Michael Lee West book Mad Girls in Love, because it takes place in Tennessee, and she had some familiar places in it. Want to read some of her other stuff.
I loved them both, but get the books
and then nobody will have to talk you into seeing the rest of the movies, LOL.
Plus with the movies you don't get into Harry's head as much, and that's where you get to know Harry. I can only imagine that people who only see the movies don't know him nearly as well as the readers do.
just curious - did you see any of your loved ones? sm
i too kinda believe in reincarnation. mom my swears my daughter is my sister reincarnated. odd, but lots of similarities.
I loved the first couple of those they did but since then
it has gotten just too cutthroat for me, and the people they have on there are not likeable enough to make me want to root for any of them.
Loved, I agree (nm)

Loved all these fun movies sm
You had Joe Pesci correct. I am not a person who swears a lot but he swears so much, it gets hilarious. Of course, I watch him with no kids around. He swore so much in Casino that I was laughing all by myself. Husband and I are getting older, so we joke about Python's skit - Bring out your Dead! But I'm not dead yet! So hilarious! Thanks for the laughs. No offense meant by the swearing, I just love Joe Pesci, loved him when he was ordered by the court to live in his own slum houses. I am sure he's a much nicer guy in person. Thanks for the memories.
Wow! I loved all the replies!
What a bunch of great things everyone did! Really cool. I don't mean to brag about us MTs, but I do think we are a cool bunch...lots in common too! From loving Wii and video games and fun and intelligent TV marathons to everything else listed. It is so nice to know we all have so many things in common and that we are all "out there" keeping each other company! I remember being an MT not so long ago before the I-net, and not even really knowing anyone quite like me.. now I don't feel so alone rather feel quite in good company! Thanks for writing and keep letting us know what you did, and or are still doing. Kind regards and thanks again the Holiday MT. :)
My dad has always loved butterscotch, so...sm
I thought this sounded like a good desert to try for him. It has been a long road for me and my dad, but now that my mom has passed he has been a real "rock" in my world and I am so grateful to have him. Hope he likes it! Thanks.
loved the game
I watched and LOVED the game - I really didn't care who won - I rooted for both times - love both quarterbacks. . . totally enjoyed the whole thing - even most of the commercials. . my fiance isn't much of a footbal fan, so I mostly watched by myself - used the game as an excuse to have lots of snacks.
have always loved your name - got you beat
on age - but my Ipod goes from Creed to Peter Gabriel to Staind to Paul Rodgers and in between Lonestar and Indigo Girls and Oh, my new favorite song - the theme from Saving Grace by Everlast! It is so much more convenient than the CD player. I got a little shuffle cause I wanted to start slow and make sure I could work things and I'm doing fine.
Oh, thank goodness, I loved seeing her but
my heart just broke to see her sit there, apparently getting passed by and so wanting a forever home. I have not seen the ad yet but will be so happy to see that precious pup again.
I did the same thing and LOVED it!!
Or, just use 2 pillows, one for under the belly, one between the legs.
