I never mind the extra for shipping, have you seen those stores?!? lol
I do very little shopping at the big stores, NEVER during a sale, and most I do on line every year. I will sometimes even shop from home other times throughout the year when there are big sales, because many stores have the sales on line too, and if you have a credit card they will email you a notice and sometimes even offer free shipping or other deals. To me, it's just not worth going out and dealing with all that madness, it's too stressful and who needs that. Not me :)
This I can guarantee
your children will one day grow up and leave and if you stay because of the children, will still be in an unhappy life if things don’t change. Staying for the sake of the children is a very poor thing to do and most counselors would tell you the same. Why would you sacrifice your own happiness for the kids? I am telling you now, one day they will not care 1 way or the other about choosing a mate and moving on, regardless of your situation and a lot of times do not even stop to find out if you approve of their mates. I have children and never wanted to stay and make them "happy." Why should you suffer?? because you had them??
Can almost guarantee they are not in US.

There's no guarantee....
that the next place you move will not have sex offenders, drug dealers, murderers. And, guess what, they don't "register" the drug dealers or murderers, so you're on your own in that department. That is life in the good ole USA today and if you are getting free rent and not much income, I would just keep my guard up, learn self-defense and live your life like you have the star role in a movie. Hey, sometimes you have to just make things work. Best of luck to you.
I guarantee you would be in the clutches of SM
a darling little creature you would never, ever get out of your heart. They are soft and animated, always seeking and demanding to be loved and a real part of the family. They are undeniably one of the most adorable breeds one could own!
Yes, there is no guarantee, but it does feel
safer to have people around even if one does not socialize with them. Just to have somebody in the vicinity to call for help and being among people.
All alone out there on a farm, nobody around, eeeewwww!
Really, really scary!

I have no young kids but could guarantee
that if I had to care for a young infant, would not have to sit and think about it. Do you suffer from any sort of memory deficiency?
my shipping is free - you must have
found a different web site - it varies a bit with suppliers.  mine is healthysuccessonline.  If mac and cheese is not palatable (NS - was totally disgusting - I had to spit it out! breakfast is powdered eggs -gag!) and you have to throw things out, it isn't very cheap.
What type of shipping?
If the person ships it media mail for the book, it will take up to three weeks for you to receive it. Regardless, one week is not really long enough to file a complaint or start contacting the person. I have been doing business on ebay, buying and selling once in a while, and I know you cannot expect your items so soon...especially around Christmas.
Shipping reminders - see inside
What I learned when my husband was over there as a contractor:
1. Size does matter! Several smaller boxes will tend to arrive much faster than 1 huge, heavy box. Mail is usually the last things to be put on the planes, especially to the more remote sites, and smaller boxes are much easier to fit on the planes.
2. Do not send alcohol in any form, not even in candy. Also, do not mail in a box that is alcohol related.
3. Place enough clear tape over the address to cover it. That way, if it rains and the label gets wet, it will still be able to be delivered.

Happy mailing to all who want to send good cheer to the desert this holiday season! :-)

I think it's all in the delivery --

start with your parents first (i'm assuming their still with you).  They're usually the most understanding of these situations.  Explain that you're simply strapped for cash, but would love to have everyone come together at your place for dinner.  Suggest to your parents (if they're on board with you) that the others want to exchange gifts, they can meet at someone else's place later for that.  I don't see anything wrong with it as long as everyone knows up front that you're not exchanging gifts.

How much do you tip the pizza delivery guy?

I usually give them 3 or 4 dollars.

But I got to thinking with the cost of gas, maybe that's not enough? Don't they usually pay for their own gas?

How much do you tip?

If you get Chinese food delivery, use the

I save every packet of sauces from my Chinese food delivery.  Whether I'm cooking bar-b-q (ribs, chicken, pork chops, etc), or baking whatever or grilling, broiling, or boiling, I can usually throw together something from those packets depending on what flavoring I want to achieve.  My dad taught me not to look at recipes, but just to think about how flavors work together and trust your guts.  That doesn't work for everyone, but I've made some delicious dinners when I didn't have any other seasonings in the house but those Chinese food packets :)  Try to remember to balance out a sweet with a sour (or salty) flavor.  I remember how I was horrified when he put cinnamin in a pot roast once, but it was the best roast I ever had.  He had been doing it for years...he just hid it from me.  Once I knew he used it, I enjoyed it more than I ever had!

Usually PPD onset is after 2-3 weeks of delivery. sm
I have had both OB and psychiatric nursing and the textbooks suggest that it tends to not be PPD unless it is 2-3 weeks after delivery, that is how long it takes the serotonin and dopamine levels to change for depression after birth. Sounds like she has a case of post partum blues (not same as depression) as well as a case of her child not being born with things according to her "ideal baby" that she had been anticipating for 9 months. Call her, stop by, research the medical issue and be there to listen and offer facts if she wants to talk about it. Otherwise, don't treat her different than you did pre-baby or you won't seem sincere.
Does anyone ever use Schwan't food delivery?

My neighbor uses it every week.  She works as a nurse but does like to 18hr shifts twice a week.  She has 9yr old twins, a 4yr old, and an 18mo old.  She home schools her children.  He DH works for the railroad.

I am just curious if it really is a benefit and worth the money.  Maybe for that size family it is more practical for them but maybe not for a smaller family.  Is the food ready made and frozen, how much work is there in fixing a meal, etc.

Anyone familar with this?  Just wondering!

I wish I MADE as much as a pizza delivery guy

Perineal massages are done during delivery sm
most of the time if the doc is willing to take the time to do them. Do NOT ask for an episiotomy. I had 3 degree laceration from it with a 6 lb 5 oz child and still have tenderness in that spot today from 17 years ago, which interfers with relations.

To tear or not to tear depends on a lot. Depends on your control, the nurses hollering for you to "push" with all your might, which makes you tear, the doc's techniques, and how healthy your body tissues are. If you are a smoker, your tissues will tear more easily as they will if you are unhealthy and don't take care of yourself. Your body is what you put into it. Our tissues are made to stretch and if given the time to do so, it will. I have personally delivered over 200+ babies as a midwife and have performed an episiotomy ONCE in 200+ deliveries. By control, I mean when that "ring of fire/burning" hits, the cause of that is your skin stretching. This is when you want to go slow and easy with the pushing and allow it time to stretch (of course provided baby is stable with heart tones/color, doc's call). Look at it like this...if you take a water balloon and try to push it through a paper towel roll by shoving it in there, it will eventually break and bust due to pressure. If you work the balloon through the roll, it will go through there without busting or breaking. It just takes time to adapt to the shape/figure to fit through it. Your baby is the same way coming through your vaginal opening. Allow it time to mold the baby's head and stretch your skin around the baby's head and you will not tear nor need an epiostomy and I don't care how big the baby is.

Good luck to you and educate yourself ~ that is the key to any successful delivery. Email me if you wish.

Although I am a fan of not having epidurals, leave that option open. If you get to a rough spot and want it, get it. If you are handling labor well, keep on trucking without it. The hardest part of labor and most intolerable is the 2nd stage, which is the shortest stage, and means it will all be over soon. Get your body active if they will let you and you will be able to tolerate pain much easier than lying in a bed thinking of nothing but the pain. It is more of a mind control thing. Anyone can do it if they put their minds to it and want it bad enough.
pizza delivery tipping question

Hi all:  I've recently noticed that a prominent pizza chain that begins with a D has started charging me a 1.50 delivery charge.  I normally tip the delivery guy anywhere between 3 and 6 depending on amount of order, weather conditions, etc.  I'm wondering who this 1.50 goes to and why are they charging me 1.50.  If goes to the delivery guy, great, more power to him.

Also, do you tip higher on Superbowl Sunday?  Just curious.  TIA

An instrumental delivery makes an episiotomy necessary..sm
Did you have to 'ask' for it?
Pizza for us too (delivery) - my cuboards are bare
Been bare all week. Tired of meals consisting of popcorn, potato chips, or buttered rice (nothing else, just buttered rice), and other "non-meal" items.

Glad the weekend is here to do grocery shopping.

You must live in a high pizza delivery paying
area that they get $7-8/hr.  Most make minimum, if that, but keep their tips.  Oh, add in gas to save you the trip of lugging it home yourself, then yes $2 is insulting.
Not unless it's something extra that they just want. They

still make VERY good money for the amount of hours they work.

Sorry about the extra P! NM
xx
We just put every extra dollar
We could toward paying all the unsecured debt we had until we only owed for the house. Then we decided we didn't really need to be living so grandly, and we really weren't living where we wanted to be anyway, so we quit jobs, sold the house and bought a smaller one where we wanted to live outright with the profit. We had a few thousand left so hubby could take a bit of time and look for work. He's an industrial electrician, so he can really work anywhere. I decided to go in a different direction career-wise, and decided to become an MT.
It's not just MTs though I think we are extra prone to it.
I had much food for thought after talking to a friend the other day about my own antisocial tendencies. She said she had a friend who was extremely outgoing whose job had turned into a telecommuting job and she had practically turned into a hermit. My friend observed that it must be even worse for MTs who are the type of people who tend to be more introverted anyway. I thought she had a real point there.

Maybe a mall job wouldn't be so bad, if you have the time. Or volunteering somewhere you're interested in?

Weight gain, I can't help you with....I had to make peace with my big hips years ago. LOL.
And put on a few extra pounds?

I think the obese should have to pay extra for

Has anyone ever made any extra...sm

money selling things on ebay?  I have went through the closets and have a lot of things I need to get rid of.  I am posting them on ebay.  After selling those things I may open an ebay store with things I may buy cheap and resell.  I even thought about making little throw pillows and throws and things.  I can make pillows.  My mom is great at sewing and I can sew some things.  Just a thought.  Anything to make some extra cash.

Has anyone had success selling on ebay?

I do not plan to BUT will get an extra - sm
vehicle they can use, but it will not be theirs so to speak. My parents unfortunately treated my brothers and I differently. They were allowed to get jobs while in HS, save up and buy a car which they both did. I was not allowed to work at all with in HS, therefore no way I was able to save up and buy a car. Lucky for me all my friends either were given cars or had access to one that was a family spare. My one brother was kind enough to let me use his car for the whole summer after I graduated HS as he was unable to have it where he was living at the time. My senior year in college my parents allowed me to use my dad's second car (an antique) which unfortunately the brakes failed on. I think out of guilt, and as a pre-graduation present my parents bought me a Nissan Sentra wagon so I could haul all my junk around, and so I could get to work (worked 2 jobs while at school and usually rode a bicycle but it got wreaked when I took a turn to fast and crashed). I am sure that went over like a lead balloon with my brothers but my college cost a third of what theirs did so they could not gripe too much. After that initial car I was on my own, paid my insurance, etc. though my dad did lend me the difference on the money I needed to buy a Blazer in 1989 (bank would not give me the full amount I needed) which was kind of him. But I will not spoil them by giving them a car....my neighor has gotten his daughter 3 of those new Mustangs so far, she is 17, has totaled 2 so far. I still cannot believe how stupid they are.

New information this morning on just how much extra put on
There is a news report just coming in on the hamburger drama. The chief of police said so much salt put on it was actually caked on, looked like shards of glass and not only that but pepper put on some heavily that the lettuce was entirely black.
Working all day Sat. for a little extra money so -
I can afford enough gas to drive into town on Sundays.

Life is Simple:
* Wake.
* Work.
* Eat (when I can afford it.)
* Work.
* Sleep.
* Repeat.
second that on condos. worth the extra $$$
we liked that a lot!!
If I find something to sell or do for extra $,
Of course, if they'd pay me a living wage, I wouldn't have to do that. But since they don't, no way would I ever have any guilt about it. It's all about SURVIVAL.
Plus there are ways of making that extra day
There may be temp work to be had for 1 day a week (a good way to explore other jobs). Or devote one day a week to starting a small business of your own, such as on eBay, or crafts, or doing odd jobs in the neighborhood.

Another way is to spend the day working on the house. Things there weren't time for with a 5-day workweek, like finishing that deck or BBQ pit in the back yard, or replacing a leaky toilet or faucet, painting, weatherstripping, insulating etc. There are lots of things that can: add value to the house, improve heating/cooling efficiency, etc.

Or, maybe one day a week take a class at the local junior college, trade school, etc. It could pay off in just doing something fun or interesting, or in working towards an unfinished degree, or in learning a new trade altogether.
Surprise extra blessing today.
We got out of the house and took Sasha to the dog park. In talking to a couple there, we told them how we lost Misha. The husband blurted out that he remembered Misha. I thought he meant from trips to the dog park, but no, he explained he was a vet tech at NCSU, and had cared for Misha on Christmas Eve. I got to meet and hug a guy that helped Misha get outside for her business and who sat with her and comforted her in her last hours. As the phenobarbital was controlling her health problems, he was soothing her spirit. He thought she was wonderful and he took great care of my baby when I couldn't be there. What a blessing God gave me to know she was cared for that way.
Would love to make extra money BUT
I have gone through the initial call with this company, some VERY nice people but the thing I do not like is you have to buy products each month and then get other people involved, is it any different now? The products seem like they would be pretty good, natural etc. Thanks!
Absolutely but if I can stay a few extra days
by just working a few hours each day - I'm there!
They used to do that with extra fingers & toes on babies that

Ideas to earn extra income
In addition to your regular career what do you or your family do to bring in a little extra cash?  I started a garden this year and it is doing so well that I think I may try for the local farmer's market next year.  Not looking to make a fortune but it would be great if it could pay for extra things like a day at the zoo or pizza and a movie.
eBay is great for extra income...
and also to get things on the cheap.  I haven't done it in months so can't really you a monthly amount, but looking forward to getting back into.  Good luck to you.

I just hugged my Golden for an extra long time

I'm so sad for this poor dog.  I know it is at Rainbow Bridge and at peace but what a horrible way for it to die, and it sounds as if it's life wasn't too hot either.    I hope it's owners get the book thrown at them.

To poster below, I have seen on TV for heatstroke they put alcohol on the pads/paws which supposedly helps cool them, also cold water on the body, etc.  (I watch Emergenc Vets on TV sometimes - love those docs).

Bloody Mary for breakfast, extra vodka! lol
