I'm really sorry that your FIL seems to think his child molester son needs his ministry and his son who is suffering so terribly does not. It breaks my heart for your husband. I think that you should probably just let it go and let the chips fall where they may. Your husband and children need you now and you need all your energies to focus on helping him get better and helping your kids deal with the situation.

Be kind to yourself and try to get through this and when your husband is home and feeling better, let him make the decision whether to contact his father at that point. Personally, I would have nothing further to do with the FIL.
