It was because he was a bigger, tough boy, and like yours I have taught him to only hurt others in self-defense. This girl ended up dragging him around the playground by the hood of his jacket and almost choking him to death before a teacher who happened to be looking out the window (not the ones who were gabbing on the playground unaware) noticed and ran out to help him. Even after that the teacher was just going to make the girl sit out for a little while because "the girl has a little crush on your son." I made such a big deal that the teacher called a class discussion about safety and not touching others and how you can hurt people, etc.

This happened to MY GIRL in 2nd grade . . . sm
actually, the girl threatened to stab her with her pencil. My daughter went to the teacher who was an old burned out substitute that day and the teacher told her to sit down and get to work, would not even listen to her. Needless to say I went ballistic. Of course, the girl who was threatening to stab my daugther was a problem child (they always are, who else would do this?). My daughter was moved away from this child and never sat next to her again, because I saw to it that it happened that way. And btw, I personally believe calling the mother would only frustrate you more. Why do you think this child acts this way? You would be only arguring against ignorance and there is no point to frutstrate yourself further. Tell your child to stay away from this child and insist upon their separation in the classroom.

Everyone just loved my husband, even though he only went once in a blue moon. But me and the kids, we were there for everything, helping out, participating, and yet it seemed like all anyone ever said was, "Where's your husband." Eventually, I got tired of answering the same old questions, not being appreciated for what I contributed to the church, and left. So sad that people act this way, but I guess it must just be human nature?

Oh I believe because similar has happened
to me as in the monster behind me. I have never been so terrified in my life. People who have not had this happen to them would find it unreal (no pun intended) but sure scares the hell.. out of you. I wonder why so many describe the same evil thing instead of having a good thing such as angels, etc. happening?
Something similar happened to me, too..
People are always coming up to me in parking lots, downtown, fast food places, malls, asking for money. Really has happened a dozen times at least through the years, no exaggeration! I must look sweet and accommodating--although not very prosperous! But one time I was in the library downtown and a man asked directions to the Air Force base from the library. I told him it was straight up the interstate from where we were--you could see the signs from the street in front. He said he was from out of town and needed a ride. I just smiled and said something to the effect of "I wish you well," because there was no way I was going to offer to take him, as I was alone. (How did he get to the library?) He then proceeded to mutter things like, "People say they're Christians, but they don't act like it." I had to walk away finally and leave before I was ready to go. I too thought about the Biblical "angels unaware," but I didn't think for a minute he was divine or God testing me!!
Something similar happened on American Idol
not too long ago in a southern setting a guy walked off the stage and said something to the effect of "take care" or "be careful" and Paula immediately got in a twit, saying to the other judges that was a threat. Good golly, Miss Molly, that was a southern goodby. AI had to come back later and explain this was not a threat to them. I along with family members have always used the terms honey, sugar, sweetie. My grown children as well as my husband are all called honey. I have called other children the same. Unless you are older person trying to put the make on a kid, I would never sweat something like a term of endearment.
Well, here's what happened with mine......
I just got a Crock Pot about a month ago. Never had one before. (Also don't cook!) But the doc said I had high cholesterol, so time to learn to make healthy stuff to eat. I put in 4 large chicken breasts, 'taters, broccoli florets, onions, carrots & yellow squash, as well as a little bit of chicken-rice soup & seasoning. Recipe said for 4 chicken breasts, to 'cook on low for 10 hours'.
Well, 10 hours later, I came back, and I had vegetable-mush soup, with a skeleton in the middle of it. I guess most of the meat had vaporized or something.
I thought Crock Pots were supposed to be a pretty 'dummy-proof' way to cook, but in MY case, they sure aren't!

It was early last year when one of our males disappeared for about 2 days. He had never done this before. When he came home, he just kept meowing loudly and just sat in the floor and cried and cried. He looked horrible. We took him to the vet and his BUN and creatinine were so far off the charts, the vet didn't know how he was still alive. He said if this were a person, he would be in a coma. He had complete kidney failure. They kept him overnight, put IV's in him, flushed him, because he had crystals forming where he urinated, and the next morning the vet called and said he couldn't believe it, but he was still alive and seemed to be feeling better. He was actually eating a little and drinking water, which was what he needed. He was horribly dehydrated. This was a VERY healthy cat before this happened. He said it was not uncommon for males to have this happen suddenly without warning. He was eating wet food before but so were the others. It took a long time for him to return to a healthy weight...he lost a lot of hair from his chest up and looked horrible. He was a silver kitty before and but his hair came back darker. He got in some strange habit when he got sick like wanting to drink out of the faucet in the sink, wouldn't leave my son's bathroom, sat on the back of the toilet all day and called for me to come see him...weird behavior. He seems to be doing fine now, but he still drinks a lot of water (out of the sink) and has become much more loving. We're not sure how he lived through it either and the vet was amazed. We're not sure what caused it, if anything, other than his own urinary system went haywire.
It's happened to 2 friends of mine...
The 1st one hasn't remarried since and doesn't date at all. The 2nd one, the marriage her husband "came out" on was on her 2nd marriage. She said it was much harder making peace with that divorce than the first one, especially since he was fooling around with men on the side before she caught him and then she was worried about catching HIV.
Know that you did nothing to cause this change in him. He made the choice himself to lie to you and then hurt you by deciding to live the gay lifestyle.
My biological father is bisexual and when it came out in the open that he liked men as well as women that was much more painful to us kids to handle than if he was just fooling around with women. Neither are right but unfortunately he made bad choices and liked to my mom and everyone else for years before he was caught.
This happened to a friend of mine from high school........sm
He had mono after we graduated from high school and was off work for about 5 weeks. He went back to work too early and, while driving home from work one day, his spleen just burst and he crashed into an oncoming log truck, killing him instantly. It was really a double tragedy because the first people on the scene to find him were his mom and dad, who had a bad heart anyway. His dad suffered a major MI on the spot and had to be taken to the ER. His poor mom lost her son that day and almost lost her husband.
I'd let her out if she wants. No reason she HAS to take a 12th grade course in 9th grade.

When did you stop believing is Santa? I was snooping for presents in 1st grade and found presents under my mom's bed to me from santa.
If you have kids old enough, when did they stop believing? My kid are 10 and 6 and still believe.
How did you/your kids find out? They already have friends who don't believe. I still get away with the tooth fairy as well.
How did you/they react to the truth? I was crushed.
If kids don't find out on their own, what age do you think they should be told? I think they all find out soon enough on their own. I'm not going to tell them.
when my son was in second grade
a couple of weeks before that, I noticed the school # was on my caller ID but there was no message. I asked my son if he may know why the school called. He got kind of quiet and told me that he had said something disrespectful to the teacher assistant so I thought maybe that was the reason. (I had him write a little note to the assistant, telling her he was sorry for showing disrespect but I definitely let him know I appreciated his honesty with me)..... ANYWAY..... I figured with parent/teacher conferences coming up, I would bring it up then. I mentioned there was a call, wasn't sure who it was from, as there was not a message..... that my son had told me about this particular incident, and though they said they didn't make the call, I mentioned if they ever had a problem to please contact me "it's not like I'm going to beat him" to which my son replied, "YES YOU DO MOMMY!"
The teacher, the assistant and I were all looking at each other like WHAT????? My son then went on to say "at Mario Bros"..... LOL.
I thought oh here we go, child protective services will be giving me a visit!! LOL.
When I was in the third grade
I broke my wrist and after surgery, I woke up in a room with a roommate that smoked. I can't even believe now that there was a time when it was okay to smoke in a hospital!

I really was 6 - in the 1st grade. I already had a - (sm)
bully boy bothering me on the playground, and was standing there on that cold windy morning thinking that going to school with no underpants was just going to complicate things with him even further if he was around while I was doing flips on the monkey bars!
When the bus was only a few feet away, I suddenly ran in front of it (nearly got run over in the process), and ran back home. After a few minutes of banging on the front door, my mom (who'd been in the shower) let me in, and I completed my wardrobe, then ran back to the bus stop. Amazingly, the driver actually waited for me.
Kindergarten, yes. Third grade, no.

It depends on the grade of the oil
If you use high grade oil you can go a little longer, about 4000 or 5000 miles.
Low grade fever again
I am so tired of this....seems like every time I turn around, I am running a low grade fever (99.0 up to 99.3, my normal is around 97.6). The temperature itself would not be concerning, but I can tell by the way I feel, even before I take my temp, that it's running high.
I have allergies and develop sinusitis very easily. In the past couple of months, I have taken three rounds of antibiotics because of low grade fever accompanied by sinus symptoms (pain, pressure, yucky green phlegm, etc.). That's the first time I've taken antibiotics in ages - I have to be pretty desperate to take them, because I don't want to develop a resistance to them.
Now I've got the fever again but no sinus symptoms. Anybody have any clues what else it could be? I mean, I don't hurt anywhere, I don't have any symptoms except the fever. I know I need to go in and get a complete workup; in fact, I have one scheduled for September 5 (that's the earliest appointment my doctor had). I'm just sick of feeling lousy.
first grade party
Last year when my little girl was in first grade, they had a Teddy Bear tea party for the holidays. Each child could make an ornament or buy one to exchange as a gift. They could wear pj's and bring a teddy bear. Parents were invited. A sign up list for goodies was included. The teacher read stories, and they played music with musical chairs and pin the tail on the elf, I think. They had a lot of fun. The theme was nice too for the little ones, does not matter boy or girl they all like tea parties at that age. For my little boy in first grade, I just sent in cupcakes. I went to the dollar store and got them each a gift which the teacher wrapped and they took turns taking from a bag. Santa (her husband)made a surprise appearance, and once again she read stories to them while they had punch and cupcakes. The other teacher who shared the classroom gave out polar express tickets for the kids to hold at the party and later to take home. It was very cute and fun. Whatever you do have a great time. My daughter is in 3rd grade and still believes
and so do most of her classmates/friends! She has never questioned if Santa was real or not and I absolutely have no intention of telling her anytime soon. You obviously know nothing about MOST 3rd graders if you think that they don't belive in Santa!! Maybe I just live in a city where having an imagination and embracting childhood is still a good thing.

Daughter's 7th grade dance
My 13-year-old daughter is having her 7th grade dance in a few weeks, and yes, they definitely go overboard. A friend's daughter went last year and she said the girls looked like they were going to a wedding. The sad thing was she was dressed very casually (they were told it was a Hawaiian theme if they didn't want to get all dressed up. When she got there she saw all the girls dressed to the nines and she started crying and didn't want to go in for fear of what the others would say. I thought that was just awful. There is a no limo rule, but there were some that broke that rule and the school did nothing about it. My daughter is getting a new dress, but she knows it's going to be a simple dress, one that she can wear more than just this one time. We're definitely not made of money and she knows it. She may not always like it, but she knows it.
Small children, in first grade and
3rd or 4th but I remember feeling so special when I was in a child about this age because I had diamond rings (not big, chip diamonds mostly) that my grandmother gave me, had several boxes of them and if I lost 1 I chose another. I am not talking about spending over 50$ apiece on these.
My daughter was diagnosed with ADD in 2nd grade
We took her to 3 different doctors who did a bunch of different tests and all three said without a doubt she has ADD (without hyperactivity). So, we put her on medication. The medication made her VERY cranky and she was a holy terror to live with!!! So, we went back to the doctor and he switched her medication. This medication made her mood better, but her appetite was virtually nonexistant. My husband and I read every book and website we could find on ADD to see if we could help our daughter. We ended up taking her off the medication and changed her diet, making sure she eats every 2-3 hours. We eat pretty healthy anyway, but we really have to make sure that we don't let her eat too many carbs or junk. She also has to eat pretty frequently to keep her attention span up. It has been 2 years now and she is doing great at home and at school. She just started a new school this year and this teacher is excellent at letting the kids have a healthy snack during class so the kids stay focused all day long.
In other words, before you even think about medication, I would monitor his diet and make sure that he's eating healthy and then make sure he's eating every 2-3 hours (if possible at school) and see if this helps.

I know many may not agree with me, but I believe positive reinforcement for good behavior and negative consequences for bad behavior works. Every week our school sends home a folder with the child's "grades" for the week in schoolwork and behavior, with 4 being the best (pretty much unattainable for my son!) 3 being good, 2 being so-so, and 1 being really bad. I put him on an allowance schedule with chores he had to do with a certain allowance each week. HOWEVER his grades in his folder would greatly influence this allowance. Gettings 3s would keep his allowance the same, getting a 2 automatically took off $2 (he never got a one but that would have taken his whole $5 allowance). If he ever got a 4 he would get an additional $2. This worked really really well for him, but all children are different. Good luck!

school when I was 4, so I was always the youngest in my class. I was valedictorian too, so academically it was not a problem. However, in high school, being a year younger than my classmates caused me to be left out a lot when they were able to do things I couldn't yet because of my age. Just something to consider...

my son had a classmate in first grade who was a bully but lived not too far from us.
First grade B-day party....I MADE my son go as they lived close and I told him if there was a prob to WALK HOME even tho that was not allowed usually. Bottom line is, all the other parents knew he was a bully and would not let their kids go. My son went and was THE ONLY OTHER CHILD THERE! I felt so bad for this kid (poor money-wise). They are all now 25 years old and this kid is locally famous, and both my kids have contact with him today. He is a really. nice. adult. who so appreciates their friendship. Ya just never know is my point. Good luck. I think if she goes, she will be fine.
A wise 1st grade teacher told us...

I have 2 children in middle school (5th and 6th) grade. sm
They have 4 different lines they can choose from. They have the regular line; the Mexi/Itali line which has spaghetti, raviolis, tacos, etc, the sub line which has sub sandwiches, baked potatos and salads; and the the "fast food line" which has popcorn chicken, steak fingers, etc. They also offer sports drinks, ice cream, tea etc. Our school website is set up where I can view what they have for lunch on a daily basis and so if I see them making a bad choice, I can discuss it with them. Might want to suggest something like this to your school officials.
Well, I guess it's a necessary evil. I have a son in HS and daughter in 2nd grade.
In the HS, if their balance is too low to cover their lunch, they don't get to buy lunch. They figure high schoolers should be responsible enough to make sure they fill their accounts up. At the elementary school, they are allowed to be in the hole, although I'm not sure how deep they can go because I never let it get too far. The elementary school sends a pink slip home when your child is in the hole telling you how much. They never deny lunch, they just pink slip you and you know you need to fill up and I always do.
I realize parents should make sure their kids eat, but what some people don't realize and is some people's pay checks are stretched way too thin. There have been times when I've paid bills, etc., and then find out my kid is out of lunch money and I have to wait until my next pay check. I rely on the school to cut me a little slack. I make too much to qualify for discounted lunches, so I do what I can and I hate the idea of my kid having just a baloney or pbj sandwhick in lieu of a hot lunch!
Grandson just skipped a grade last year (sm)
He started in kindergarten and promptly began acting out. Luckily the teacher and principal decided he was not just a rowdy child, but bored. He had somehow learned to read himself during the summer before kindergarten and we weren't really aware he could do it. They tested him out as reading third grade level as he was just beginning kindergarten. After much testing and conferences (against normal school board practices) they moved him up on a permanent basis. They also placed him in the gifted program in our school district. The counselor and teachers were careful to monitor his progress and social interactions. The only time we have noticed a big problem was in Cub Scouts. They put him in a group by grade level and he did seem a little more childish than some of his group. He adapted well, though.
This is my second grandchild to be in the gifted program here, both have tested out with very high IQs. Socially they both fit in well, perhaps the youngest one is a little too into computers, puzzles and games, but he fits human interaction in there too.
Their precious little minds need to be fed just as their bellies do. Good luck to you.

not every child in the 3rd grade is going to have the mentality of a 3rd grader. some or ahead
and some arent. some still believe. there isnt that much difference between 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders...i am talking about an entire classroom of thirty children. she didnt use the word " exist"...she had children raise their hands as to what parts of the story is false and fiction...i just think she could have found a diff story, didnt have to talk about santa ya know?

I am now homeschooling my 1st grader, but didn't want to "buy" a cirriculum. I was hoping to find some websites online I could use as kind of a guide and print out some worksheets from. TIA!
My daughter's 3rd grade teacher requested 100 mechanical -sm
pencils. Now can you imagine the needing 100 mechanical pencils (or even regular pencils for that matter) in one year. It is mechanical therefore refillable. I can see maybe a dozen, but 100???? A friend suggested a typo....I ended up buying two packs of 24 at 5.50 a pack. There was no way I was getting 100, what am I supplying her kids too??? Or all the kids whose parent won't buy any supplies? Or is she reselling them on ebay. I am definitely asking the teacher about that one or the school, definitely nuts.
My high school best friend had it in 10th grade
Missed about 2 weeks of school(made it to the prom but was hospitalized the next day). After she was "better" she never had any more problems with it. She is now 40.
One of DS's best friends (started when she was 15) had it and while she never had to be hospitalized, she was home schooled for a month. Everytime she would feel better she would overdue it and have a small relapse. This was 3 years ago and she still tires easily. She often naps but is still quite active in many ways.
