awards
Our 5th grade teachers have a big awards day and make it a huge deal. Each child is rewarded for what they have exceeded in that year, from most improved student to straight A student. Sometimes I think they stretch just a bit, but these teachers cry when the give the most improved student to the little girl who got kicked out last year for truancy issues . . . and she made it 100 days in a row this year!!! Some of it can be stretching, but sometimes this is ALL THESE KIDS GET!!!!!
Am I am basing on who won which awards?
and not on the amount of money they have in their pockets. Everyone has different tastes- just because you think that Kelly and Carrie have won multiple awards, well Fantasia is going to be starring on Broadway in the Color of Purple. Not too bad for a winner, I would say. Clay also not the #1 but look at how he sells out those concerts. I could care less how many awards a person has, does not mean the runner-ups not good also in years past. Even though from the south I really am not into country, never have been and could care less about the punk style. It is all in the eyes of the beholder, really.
Elementary school awards...
Is it just me or do the elementary schools go a tad overboard with the award giving? I just attended the awards "ceremony" at my son's school (2nd grade) and they gave out awards in about 15 different categories...ranging from perfect attendance to no tardies, to mastering addition/subtraction facts! And over half the grade got the "citizenship" award...now in my day, only 1 student from each grade got that award. Kinda makes an award that is truly earned seem insignificant. I don't know, maybe it's just me...
At awards shows, she's ALWAYS paired up with somebody better, too...sm
Duet with Tina...duet with Prince....trio with JHud and the other Dreamgirl...
Man, I TRIED to watch the Awards show - I really did - but it was just too slow and boring, so I gav
.
You're so funny!!! That's what I wanted - funny redneck stories
Just kinda tired of my house looking like Sanford and Son - LOL!
That is too funny... I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time.

Well, I watched it and what I got out of it
was that it was a very impressive and famous defense team, an unprepared and unknown prosecution team, and apparently a bunch of either not too bright or biased jurors. It was the joke of the century not the crime of the century as far as I am concerned. Nicole and Ron Goldman's blood was found in his car and his blood was at the scene! Case closed.
I watched every day
I felt he was guilty, still do.
i watched that also
on fox but another network reported that Entertainment Tonight actually made a sizable contribution to the church. would be interesting which one is actual the truth
It was on CNN tonight.

TONIGHT!
Oh, children.......Tonight is the night....Can't wait!
Not tonight.
It's my bowling night (time away from everyone) so it's fast food night, but I love using the crockpot in the fall and I've been looking on the internet for quick easy recipies that I've been trying for the past few weeks.
She may be gone tonight
Hopefully. I can't stand her. Did you notice that she was in the room of the people who were leaving and then they moved her to another room? Rose was the one who's parents had died she had blond hair and was very young. I liked her a lot. I think the guy who's wife died has an amazing voice. He was my pick. I also can't believe the guy who played that character actually made it through to the next round.
AI Tonight
I won't go into who made it either for those who may have it taped, but I was really pleased with the results and loved seeing Michael Johns. Loved him from last year and very hot in person. I hate the format this year like I mentioned above. I liked it better the other years, but this year we get 3 Wild Cards so maybe your favorites who don't make it in the next three weeks will be back.
AI Tonight
I think Lil and Matt or Lil and Anoop will go home tonight. I really do like Anoop though. My top three prediction, Adam, Danny and Chris with Adam winning. (Love Adam). I'd be very happy with a Danny win also. I'm getting my AI concert tickets when they go on said May 9th. I'm so excited!
Has anyone else watched this stuff?
I watched this on CNN last night and this guy had been planning this for a LONG time. Even the news station had to edit the video because of language and could not show all the pictures either, much less read anything of what he wrote. One newscaster did say, however, after reading over some of what this guy was spouting off in his video, was that the whole motive behind any of this was envy. Envy of what other people had, as far as possessions. He even idealized himself as a martyr, comparing himself to Jesus Christ. This guy had been stated as being an imminent danger to himself and others two years ago by a clinical psychologist! Now really, I seriously do not think any of his sick psychosocial mental fixations had anything to do with him being from korea! He was just a walking time bomb that exploded. JMO
I watched it today
not too bad, kind of leaves you with the idea that their lives will go on as usual with the normal changes etc. Of course it is just a television show ;-)
Watched it - YUK - Can you say Morticia?

I thought the same but then I watched
and thought it was surprisingly good. It always amazes me to see how people with billions of dollars live. I can't even imagine living her life for one day. Must be nice. I say good for her for snagging a billionaire! I said snagging, not shagging. Well, that too. LOL
OMG! Watched on HBO and I was disturbed too. SM
I can't believe you posted this. I watched late last night on HBO. Five minutes into the movie you knew what was going to happen. The glowing reviews stated the fantasy part was wonderful, but found the fantasy as dark as the reality. What a grim story. I thought something was wrong with me, because everyone else I know who saw it said it was wonderful.
we watched movies
Chuck and Larry was one of them. We had shrimp cocktail and stuffed clams and those little hot dog pastries and mini quiches, and then at midnight champagne and Italian pastries. It was a nice night. Happy 2008 all.
I haven't watched it, but
I believe it's the real thing. I watch a lot of reality shows, but this one definitely didn't interest me.
I watched the Dog Whisperer
deal with this very situation, but, sorry, for the life of me I can't remember his solution, but they implemented it and it worked. Maybe he has a website or a book? Sorry no help, but Good Luck!
I haven't watched N/T yet
Unfortunately I've got a nasty cold and went to bed really early last night. I'm going to watch it this afternoon. I heard there were major cliffhangers.
I haven't watched it yet, but
isn't it to the performer's advantage not to win? I know they're all under contract because they go on tour, but doesn't the winner have to pay AI a proceed of their net sales if they produce an album? I might be wrong on that, but I think that's what I remember reading somewhere when the show first started.
If that is the case, David C. would have been very smart not to come out on top last night. He definitely got great PR and exposure on the show, but now maybe can cut his own deal with AI getting any $$$.
As for the performers, I like them both but have been a DC fan up to this point. Of course, I haven't watched it yet (thank goodness for DVR), but DA is just a little too young for me and I like more the rock music.
No, I never watched that movie (sm)
Maybe I'll have to go rent it now and see if I missed something...see what he's all about .
I watched that one with my husband
We couldn't stop laughing the whole show!! Now THAT's entertainment!
OMG -- i just watched the clip --
if my kids had seen that, I would have died. seriously.
There was something on the net about it maybe being a prank by 1 of the comcast employees. wonder if that's true.
I'm not sure $10 is enough to get the picture out of my head. i let my kids stay up to watch the SB -- thank god we don't live in arizona.
I just watched all the episodes
Clara is so loveable. I wrote 3 recipes down and then tried to go to the website, but couldn't get on it.
She is a lesson for all of us; 93 and hopefully still going strong, even with eating what they had to make do with. Reminds me of our private depression in the 70s when we used to buy a 50 pound sack of potatos and make them every night different ways. Don't want to get back to that!
Thank you for posting that site.
I watched it on youtube, but it looks....
like she is lip-synching. And her voice sounded far away...rather strange. Maybe it's the youtube video that is off. But I am wondering if this is a publicity joke. Her voice, while she can definitely carry a tune, I didn't really find it extraordinary. I hope it's not fake, because she would be an inspiration to all.
Thanks for this! I will try this tonight....yummy. nm

AI is on tonight at 8, Dubya at 9! nm

Saw the kitty tonight!
We went to see the cat tonight. She is doing as well as can be expected. Very happy to see us. Apparently, she does not like the tech who is watching her (stranger to her) but started to purr as soon as I scratched behind her ears. Plus I brought her bed. I just hope we brought some comfort to her. It was very hard to leave though. Once again, you all are a great group and your kind words are much appreciated!
Did anyone see "Lost" tonight?
Man, I was so sucked in by Juliet's act - what is her game? Tonight we find out she was angry with Ben because he wouldn't let her go home and she was afraid her sister had died from the cancer instead of being cured like Ben said. Then he shows her pictures of her sister, happy and healthy, with her two-year-old son.
So, even though he won't let her leave, Juliet has every reason to be grateful to him for curing her sister. So was her whole act with the posters telling Jack to kill Ben on the operating table just to gain Jack's confidence - and thereby (with the help of Ben and his magic button that activated an implant they put in Claire) ingratiate herself with the group - and to what purpose?
And is her story about the pregnant women dying true? Yes, one of them appeared to die on the operating table, but obviously while they had Claire they weren't just "saving her life" - they implanted her with some kind of device for their own purposes.
Man....I was really starting to feel sorry for Juliet. I wanted to like her. And now this. Can't wait till next week!
What's for dinner tonight?
I got mine from PA tonight
I'll send it out this week.
Thank you, but I'm so frustrated tonight
as my daughter just came in crying (it's way past her bedtime) afraid that she's going to miss her advanced-math class that she's in because they do group work and there's really no way to make it up once she misses it. This kid even goes to school SICK because she doesn't want to miss school! She's a type A personality, minus the chit-chat.
I never thought I'd have a kid beg me to sign a paper that tells the school to paddle her, but that's exactly what she wants. How do I argue with her when she doesn't want her grade to be affected?
I went through their school handbook tonight with a fine toothed comb and see that indeed corporal punishment versus ISS is the choice in frequent tardies. I've heard rumors that the principal of her school is not very friendly, so I'm really not excited about having to discuss this with him (I'm having a few mini-crises myself right now, and with the holidays, this really is stressing me out).
I want to take the simple way and just sign her paper, but then I don't know, is that really the right thing to do? Probably not.
Calgon, take me away!
Party tonight...
Other than being well hydrated and snacking, any other suggestions to stave off a hangover in the morning....just in case I might have 1 too many Fuzzy Navels?
It's my first NYE party in ages...I'm so excited!!!
What's for supper tonight? (had to ask)
Yesterday's sounded so good, wondering what is up for today. LOL.
Uh-oh on supper tonight....sm
Last week I made a beef pot roast with the trimmings. When I do this we always have enough for another meal.
Tonight for supper I was going to warm up the rest of the beef and put BBQ sauce on it. I started looking in the fridge and couldn't find the left over roast. So I called my hubby who didn't know where it was. Next I went to the 16 and 7-year-old and asked them where the meat was.
The 7-year-old said "mom - the dogs were looking real hungry the other night so I gave it to them!"
So much for supper tonight! She's never done anything like that before and now knows to never feed the dogs anything other than their usual dog food without permission. I hope the 3 dogs loved their special treat!!!
Ok, N/T is on tonight but I need an update ... sm
What happened to Kimber and Matt. I keep forgetting it is on and the last one I saw was that Matt and Kimber were meth heads and the baby was not doing so good. And...how did Julia end up with Christian? What happened to her lesbian lover??
Thanks! Now that I am remembering it is on, I am trying to catch up!
Thanks for recipe. Will try it out tonight. nm
Been a while - What's for dinner tonight??
Looking for ideas! :)
Ok, now I definitely have to watch it tonight
and not wait until Monday. :)
definitely watch tonight! enough said! nm

Tonight we are having spaghetti.

Well, my fav got dismissed tonight
but according to what you are saying, my favorite, Ricky might stand another chance. I think he is really good. I knew Titiana (sp?) was finished. She had a good voice but the craziness is not something that plays out good with the audience. I think she was trying to fake the tears upon leaving last night. I am surprised the Anoop or Enoop ?? was dismissed. Thought shades of the other Indian guy being on forever and not having an oz of talent but the looks to get him through (how soon I forget their names). I am agreeing with you this morning, maybe for the last time, but I also do not like the format. I like Michael, big ole teddy bear he is. I really like Danny. He is probably my favorite but again the sympathy factor might play some in that. Talk AI later.
I think the bottom 3 tonight will be
Lil, Matt, and Allison. Possibly Kris. I think Matt's going home, simply because he's not as memorable as some of the others even though I really like him.
what's for dinner tonight?
If it was left up to me I would just have popcorn, but I have a husband and kids who get hungry every once in a while. Oh the good old single days when I could have a Pop Tart for dinner and be satisfied!!
I have watched enough court room TV
to know that if someone offers to store stuff for another person, they are obligated to make sure that it is properly taken care of. I remember one case where someone had taken the items that they offered to store and then put them in the hallway outside the unit when they got in an argument. Of course they were stolen! That is negligence. They offered to store them for her. They should have parked them with their own quads, as obviously they thought that was safer than near the street, geez.
I agree that it is sad to lose a relationship over $1700, but they were clearly negligent with her property. If her sister was any kind of a woman, she would have admitted it was her fault. I also think that if she would have just admitted it and said sorry that the OP would probably not have been as upset as she was. I have no doubt some of that resentment is due to the fact that they are taking no responsibility whatsoever.
