How do you leash train a dog?

Okay, I have a boxer who is a little over a year old now.  She is a wonderful dog, loves my kids, playful.  We love her to pieces.  However, whenever I try to take for a walk with me she about dislocates my shoulder and strangles herself to death.  I try to reign her in and I've switched to using a shorter leash to keep her closer to me, but she still will stretch the leash as far as she can go and rip my arm off in the process.  I say "NO" and scold her, but it doesn't deter her.

Thing is, whenever I pick up her leash, she's so excited and starts jumping cause she knows we are going for a ride in the car and a walk around the lake.  She loves the leash and going on walks, but by the time the walk is over I am totally exhausted.

So what should I do to train her?  She is very rambunctious and full of live which is one of the things we love about her, but sometimes we just have trouble handling her.  A neighbor suggested obedience school because not only do I have trouble with the leash, but she's constantly chasing cats, my cats included, and she's too rough.  She is just wanting to play, but she's just too rough.  She also gets a little rough with my little girl, who is 8.  She loves my daughter to death, they are best friends, but she will jump up on my daughter to love on her and basically almost knock her down with her weight.  All my daughter's friends are afraid of her because she's always jumping on them and trying to be playful and it scares them.

She doesn't have a mean bone in her body.  She just will pummel you to death trying to give you some love!

leash for kittens
Is there any collar/leash for very tiny kittens if you want to take them out and keep them from running in all directions? Or is it inhuman to put kittens on a leash?
He was a hunter on safari & she was a leopard on a leash. (nm)

potty train
My older son, we let him in the house all day naked. He hated to be naked and that did the trick. Now, i am try to train my almost 3 year old. He uses the potty alot but it not consistent. We put on big boy underwear and he seems more aware not to go in his pants but we still have accidents. We set the timer every hour and have him go. If he is outside playing though an accident. We got him one of those little seats to put on the big potty. I never used a potty chair (as i wasn't going to clean it LOL). My daughter was alot eaiser, actually i had her doing #2 on the potty before #1, very strange I know. I also use bribery. Candy is a good thing when potty training. I know my almost 3 year old does not seem all that ready and more immature than my older boy was at this age but still have to try. He will go when he wants to and hops on the potty himself at times during the day its just the consistency that gets me. Good LUck to both of us, LOL! Please feel free to email me directly if you wish.

No, it means if you say you will never buy a lotto ticket again....you will
Bad idea to drive to NYC - take a train
once you get there - it costs a fortune to park and traffic is bumper to bumper!
my husband sounded like a train.
My nights were horrible. He snored, stopped breathing, and leg jerks all nigh. His doctor put him in a sleep clinic and he was diagnosed with sleep apnea. Now he uses a bipap machine with a mask. Not the most romantic look, but we both sleep great now with only the hummm of the machine. Have him checked.
Depends on the dog, some train faster than others - sm
I have had a few huskies over the years and found they took longer to train. My last one trained really quickly, less than a month I think, but the key in her learning fast was we had 2 other housebroken dogs. My DH said dogs learn from each other, and will watch what the other does. Makes sense to me and she trained a lot faster than my previous husky. We got a puppy lab back in 02/2004. She too trained fast (2-3 weeks) as we had my old husky and another dog at the time, again I really think she learned from the other dogs. I would not use the pads at all though. I used to work at PetsMart years (PT to supplement my FT job) though they sell them, etc. it really is not adviseable having the pads. It teachs the dog to go inside basically, has a scent that is supposed to attract the dog to them thereby helping avoid accidents on your carpet/floor. You have to take the dog outside first thing in the morning, last thing at night, and probably every 2 hours during the day until she gets the idea that if she has to pee she needs to go outside to do so. Do not rely on her to tell you at this point. My dogs, male and female, both pee 100 x when walking (seems that way, probably more like 5-6x), like to spread that scent around. Maybe walk a bit slower, stand about some more and maybe she will figure out she needs to pee while standing still and not on the run. Keep it consistent. I know what a pain it is to do this, have done it 3 times myself so far and will be doing it again in a year as my DH promised my daughter she could get a dog when she is 10 (in a year).
Train the puppy to behave OUTSIDE a crate!--sm
you and the puppy will be much happier. How would you like to be stuck inside a crate all day??!!! JMO
Zoey pulled, great for that, Britney has been a train wreck for
some time. I am glad her sister's show got cancelled. She supposedly is looked up to by these little teeners, not good. I have read there are money problems for the mother, good about that too, she has lived off both her daughters, let them get a regular job. Britney has been spinning out of control for at least over a year and hopefully someone will have her committed. If you or I, and not answering the courts with their demands for parenting clases, drug checks, depositions, etc. we would have already been jailed. It is no different with her. The mother is accountable probably for her sister's pregnancy, heard she let the boyfriend live with them, just trailer trash all of them.
