Not meant to sound harsh, but I really can't understand why you wouldn't feel you could ask him why he doesn't initiate contact?

The other advice is good, too, wait for him. But I see no problem in directness - honesty and you have a legitimate question and have been seeing him long enough to be able to ask, well just about anything.

When you ask "am I contacting you too much" instead of what you want to know, you aren't being direct enough - instead you are "hoping" he gets the hint. trust me, it's a rare man who "gets the hint."
