Health insurance, so not sure.

My copay is the normal amount though, so it may not be too expensive. Our more expensive drugs will have a higher copay. You might see if your doctor has samples, just to see if it will work for you.

Health Insurance
Does anyone know where I can get family coverage? I live in NY and I am taking an IC position. Thanks
This is w/o health insurance either - sm
though ours is cheap (but very, very good). We only pay $140 a month for 4 of us. Of course just about every few months (if not every) something unexpected crops up too, car repair, etc.
Health Insurance
I pay $240 a month for mom's (49yo) health insurance. This is for medical insurance plus a dental & vision discount program. She doesn't go to the doctor alot but when she does go there is always a remaining balance anywhere from $40-$80. Hospitalization through the insurance is set at $5,000 deductible. I am just wondering does this sound reasonable or is there anything else cheaper with good coverage or same coverage???? I checked into BCBS but they are SO expensive. Any input on this is greatly appreciated.
Ex-spouse on health insurance?
My daughter just told me about a proposal her ex has suggested. He is close to a thousand dollars in arrears for back child support. Now he wants to negotiate a deal where my daughter will accept about half of what he owes in exchange for his adding her to his job health insurance. She is self-employed and has not had health insurance coverage since their divorce.
I don't think he can do that, can he? Since he has lied about so many things I don't think she will do that unless he can prove she can be covered. Even if he could add her, what would keep him from dropping her for spite if there are problems down the road? Any thoughts? Thank you.
Do not cancel your health insurance. You never know when you will need it. sm
I had no health insurance for 3 years and that is the ONLY reason I went back in-house. I figured I had pushed the envelope far enough and was due for major problems.
Most hospitals have payment plans and will work with you. The hospital I work for has a Care Management department that will come to the hospital to work with you on payment plans or help you find whatever help may be out there and that you can access.
If you keep anything, keep your insurance. Go for high deductible. Find a clinic that has a sliding scale, but keep it if you can.
What have they done?? I heard no health insurance for employees, but what else?

Wal-Mart does offer health insurance to their workers. Wal-Mart pays part and the employee SM
pays part of the premium. Just like other companies do.

health food :)
i've made this exact same recipe for years -- husband calls it "health food" cuz of the oats. (i just call em no-bakes). I boil mine gently however for 2 minutes, not a second more for soft cookie consistency.
The only thing i do different now is use the DARK Hershey's cocoa -- everyone loves them!!
How's hubby's health?
Has he had a physical or been to the doctor recently? Repeating stories like that and an attitude change such as what you are describing can sometimes mean the onset of Alzheimer's or another form of dementia. I don't want to be a debbie downer, but I think it's something that probably should be looked into.
Good luck.
Would you cancel health ins....sm
if you couldn't really afford it? Or would you scrape by to pay for it? I have contemplated canceling to get ahead on my bills for a while. What if I or my husband or son gets really sick, say our gallbladder or appendix? What would they do? Let us suffer? Will they treat you and let you make payments? I am afraid to let it go because I am scared we may really need it. I don't know what to do.
New Health Tonic??!
I found this very well-referenced, scientific article to be quite amazing and enlightening indeed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seminophagia -- Knowing these things, some people holding old taboos, attitudes or inhibitions may need to reconsider them!
She qualifies for an IEP under "other health SM
impaired" due to her ADD. You need to make a request in writing for them to perform official testing and to set up an IEP to ensure that your daughter gets the best help available. (Preferential seating--in front of class near teacher, extra time on written assignments, less homework if necessary--i.e., 2 math problems versus 10, non-verbal reminders that your daughter will understand to mean "pay attention, sweety, it's time to do our classwork," etc., etc.) Also, if she is behind academically, they should offer her extra help in that area--although in my experience they may not offer it to someone so young because they learn so quickly at that age and she may be caught up before you know it.
Good luck to you and your daughter!

Does anyone know about Swanson Health Products?
I received a catalog of their products today (herbs, vitamins, minerals, etc.) and their prices seem really good. I was wondering how good their product is. Do they put a lot of "extra" ingredients in their herbs or do they offer the "real" thing? I know that there are some companies out there that their herb/vitamin supplements are not worth taking because there is so little of the real thing in their capsules. How do you rate Swanson?
Health care is important, but..
ITA, I'm in that situation now, he has health ins, gives me his paycheck sm
every month to pay the bills. Money from MT is extra for movies, clothes, etc. I tried talking to him, said I wasn't happy. He said nothing is wrong. So will stay unless something major happens - and I did consult a lawyer but because we've been married 4 years, the lawyer even said it didn't really benefit me to leave. At least my husband works out of town every now and then and I get a break.
I agree. The health department
needs to go in and take over. The poor little girl is probably dealing with an alcoholic or drugged-up mother or maybe she's mentally ill. The little girl shouldn't be living with such an irresponsible mother. At the very least the health dept needs to go in and fumigate and clean them up and monitor the house and family members. Better that than having 30 families trying to contend with this problem.
You have to confront him. Your health and well being are most important.
I believe people know they are gay from a young age. Some might be confused about it, but, by adulthood, they know they are gay. I cannot imagine a straight guy watching gay porn or, worse yet, seeking gay escorts. He's gay.
Health Maintenance Resources
You can order on line -shipped to your door, no commitment - it was developed for morbidly obese people pre gastric bypass - to get some pounds off before they could have surgery or to determine if they for sure could not lose weight. Food is really good and filling. Check different sites - prices vary. Best site I have found is in Texas. I was really appalled at the taste of Nutrisystem - absolutely had to throw things away.
Health and beauty products
I always like to hear about good reviews of products because sometimes it can be overwhelming with all the choices. I just thought we could all share about one or two of our favorites - hair or makeup. I personally love L'Oreal volumizer mascara and most Lancome makeup even though it's pricey. I'm looking for a really good shampoo and conditioner though - anyone?
For your health, I hope you move
Not be a smart@ss, but if there's nothing you can do legally, you really should move. For the amount of money you've spent on filters for both her place and yours, you could have probably gotten another place. I don't know where you live or whether you have a rent-controlled apartment, but none of that will matter if you're dead. It's time to start checking the classifieds.
Individual health policies
Individual health insurance policies are a lot harder to get. There is a lot more underwriting on them than there is on a group plan - it's why the group plan premiums are larger. They have to take anyone that is a member of the group.
I was denied because I had been previously diagnosed with a low thyroid. If you're overweight you probably will be denied. If you previously have been diagnosed with almost anything, but especially high blood pressure, any sort of endocrine problem like thyroid or diabetes, chances are it will be difficult to get it.
If you want to go that route, your best bet would be to go to an actual agent that sells life insurance. When it's an agent who is dealing with the company alot of times they can talk to the underwriters and the company and get it pushed through, which you can't do when you're just doing it online.

DH health question/your opinion
My husband is 60, very good health overall, does not drink/smoke, does exercise, takes lots of supplements and almost all veg. diet with fish.
There is no history of diabetes in his immediate family that I know of. We have only been married a few months, I'm 55.
Sometimes after a long day (he is a self employed paralegal and sometimes has very long days) he comes home in a condition I would compare to to a person who has had a couple drinks. He insists he is not tired, but is vague and sometimes almost staggering. Sometimes eating helps, sometimes not. I have told him not to go several hours without eating and drinking fluids and he is more careful about that but last night he became the same way after a long day. He acts likes he is mildly intoxicated, slow, deliberate, not himself. And I know positively that it is not drugs or alcohol I'm thinking diabetic? He insists his health is great, I have only mentioned what I have thought/witnessed. (This also happened during our vacation when I was with him all day after a long day of driving). Any opinions on this? Thanks

I had mine at 34, and my health improved dramatically! (sm)
I only wish I coulda had it when I was 13! (haha)
No longer being anemic, my energy level went 'way up. I lost alot of weight after surgery. (Actually a little too much - it took a while to get back to normal, so I just ate more.....) After having to live my life around my nearly debilitating periods, I now had the freedom to go wherever I wanted, whenever I wanted, for as long as I wanted, with no more checking the calendar. And no more worries about birth-control, either! Because of my young age, the doc was all worried that I'd be remorseful later that I couldn't have kids. NO WAY. I told him that after he removed my uterus, he could hang it up on the wall and throw darts at it, for all I cared!
Yes, there is some postop pain and you have to rest and get your strength back. But it's winter, and what better time to pamper yourself, read books, watch TV, write letters, and SLEEP. You will do just fine, and once you've recovered, you'll wish you'd done it years ago.
Good luck & best wishes! :)

Fabric softner - a health hazard??
I was sent an email by a friend concerning the hazards of fabric softner last night. I was wondering if anyone else has heard of this? The article he sent to me was from Allergy and Environmental Health Association (http://aeha.ca/help-with.htm)
He was also talking to an associate who has having many health issues. He awoke one morning with a "texas-shaped" lump and redness on his neck. He went to the doctor the next day and the doctor suggested that he go home and look at his pillow and call him back and tell him what he found. There was a dry sheet in his pillow case - and you guessed it - in the shape of Texas. His doctor told him that it was unbelievable the illnesses that are caused by fabric softener.
It seems like there are some many things you shouldn't eat, you shouldn't use, and the list goes on. Sometimes I think we are doomed if we do and doomed if we don't. I guess it is an issue of pick and choose. Does anyone know an alternative for fabric softener?
By the way - If you don't want to look at this article for any other reason, look at it for the great list of alternatives for cleaning without using chemicals. They have a great list and it is quite lengthy. I printed it off just to have for a household reference!

Ways to maintain mental health...
Hope these make someone laugh... Makes me wish I worked in an office away from home sometimes...
Ways To Maintain Mental Health 1. At lunch time, sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars. see if they slow down. 2. Page yourself over the intercom. Don't disguise your voice. 3. Every time someone asks you to do something, ask if they want fries with that. 4. Put your garbage can on your desk and label it "In." 5. Put decaf in the coffee maker for 3 weeks. Once everyone has gotten over their caffeine addictions, switch to espresso. 6. In the memo field of all your checks, write "For sexual favors." (I actually do this one!) 7. Finish all your sentences with "In accordance with The Prophecy." 8. Don't use any punctuation 9. As often as possible, skip rather than walk. 10. Ask people what sex they are. Laugh hysterically after they answer. 11. Specify that your drive-through order is "To Go." 12. Sing along at the opera. 13. Go to a poetry recital and ask why the poems don't rhyme. 14. Put mosquito netting around your work area and play tropical sounds all day. 15. Five days in advance, tell your friends you can't attend their party because you're not in the mood. 16. Have your co-workers address you by your wrestling name, "Rock Hard." 17. When the money comes out of the ATM, scream "I Won!, I Won!" 18. When leaving the zoo, start running towards the parking lot, yelling "Run for your lives, they're loose!!" 19. Tell your children over dinner. "Due to the economy, we are going to have to let one of you go." 20. Share this with someone else... its called therapy.
I have some health issues that basically prohibit
a lot of the things I mentioned, bending, stooping, cleaning, etc. and I can afford to have someone and why should I not? Oh, by the way there is a lot of time she watches television, I do not mind and I pay her per hour more than I make an hour so I think for 4 hours here is a good pay. The thing was I only had 1 pair of panties (I felt should wear to an appointment this morning, knew exactly where I put them and they were not there.) If you knew how much I gave her, not only money but have bought her grandkids things at Christmas, given her clothing, lots of things when she asked, then you would understand about why I am upset she stole something from me. I buy clothing and then do not like and give her brand new things with the tags still on them so I have a right to be upset about someone stealing.
Does anyone use coconut oil for health purposes regularly? (sm)
I would like to know if it has been helpful to anyone with health conditions. Thanks
EXACTLY and that's why your health care premiums are so high
I think I do more obese/morbidly obese patient reports than not
ABSOLUTELY NOT ONE health question on the application. GO FOR IT. I
was turned down by Geisinger and cried for 2 days. I have been without health insurance and am alone. An insurance agent in my town told me immediately of this plan with PA Highmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield. The lower premium per month I believe was $299.00, but of course that was the one with $1500 deductible and an out of pocket max of $6,000. That is why I chose to go for the higher premium payment per month of $336.75.
You must call Highmark and ask for their Classic Comprehensive plan. I just called and was APPROVED and will be getting my card really soon. She gave my group number, etc. in case I need treatment before everything comes in the mail. There is no restriction on which doctor or hospital you choose. The agent told me they CANNOT turn you down, and he was right. GOOD LUCK! PIck up that phone!
Since this is a serious health issue, may be best to speak with the physician...sm
taking care of your in-law. None of us that patient's physician, and warfarin and the medical conditions it treats can be very tricky and dangerous. The best advice may come from the poster whose husband is on the same medication, not from Google. I am not bashing anyone or saying people don't know what they are talking about. We are intelligent people who do have vast medical knowledge, but this type of question really should be handled by the particular patient's doctor, the one who knows all of the history, any food allergies or reactions, etc.
You most definitely should speak to someone if you will even be remotely involved in the patient's care when she returns home. Someone needs to have an objective insight, and sometimes when a family member is sick, the ones closest to them do not understand all the instructions and such, especially someone who sounds really ill. Your knowledge could be very valuable to them.
Don't be afraid to ask the doctors and nurses anything. That is what they are there for. They treated this patient, and they have the responsibilty to make sure the patient gets the best care possible at home to help with recovery. Our thoughts will be with you, and let us know how she is doing.
Questions about mold/mildew and my health --
I am living in a condo that I rented about 3 months ago. When we had the first bad rain (a week long), my kitchen and laundry area got so stinky with a mold/mildew smell that I almost had to go to a motel. When the weather dried up, the smell went away. I do not see any visible mold/mildew in that area, but my dryer vents under the concrete slab and it takes me hours to dry a load of clothes, so I feel sure that the moisture is collecting in the vent system and when it gets really wet, you just smell it better.
My question is if me and my significant other are suffering health problems that could be related to mold/mildew that we did not have before we moved here, can we legally break our lease if the landlady does not respond to our complaints? He is having severe allergy problems at night when he is home (coughing, sneezing, etc.), and I am having headaches on a daily basis and tiredness all the time. I also developed what we thought was a ringworm, but treatment did not help, then the doctor said it was psoriasis and treatment is not helping, but I read on a website a few minutes ago that there is a skin reaction that is caused by mold/mildew that can be confused with ringworm and will not go away with treatment unless the mold/mildew is removed.
Any suggestions? I don't just necessarily want out of my lease, but I don't want to be unhealthy either; so I guess I want my apartment cleaned up of the problem or be able to move --- what do you suggest?
