Having our annual Super Bowl Party

We have one every year. We're having about 15 friends over. Pizza, wings, assorted munchies and whatever dishes our friends decide to bring. It's a lot of fun even though I just watch the Super Bowl for the commercials, and the halftime show.

Having our annual Super Bowl party
Just a few close friends. We're having pizza and chicken wings and my the neighbors bring over various dishes. One usually brings over a great hot chicken wig dip and my husband will make chilli in the crockpot. My friend and I just like to watch the commercials. LOL. After we eat and see the halftime show, the kids and women go across the street for our own party.
SUPER BOWL
GabbyChic,
I suggest you actually watch this game. Been a Steeler fan 30+ years, eventhough, I moved to Texas in 88. I promise you, this won't be boring.
Colts are Super Bowl Champs sm
Woohoo! GO COLTS!
Tell Us ABout Yer Super Bowl Plans this Year.
what are you doing? Making? Will ya be on your own or having peeps over?
if we get to their 75,000 annual income qualification
then they can qualify us for that.
I did the annual Libby pumpkin pie- sm
and something called pecan tassies.....kind of like minature pecan pies, in small muffin pan, about 1.25 inch or so in diamter, yummy. Did 2 batches this morning after I finished the pie. Now unfortunately back to work as we are going away Saturday and I need to finish up about 150 minutes of work staring at me.
Wish us good luck with our annual batch of Limoncello!
This year our batch was deemed excellent by all of our family and friends. For 2008, we're adding a touch of ginger and we'll see how it goes when we give bottles at Christmas. We fill and cork small 100 ml bottles and give them to family and friends every year.
Sorry - for your sake I hope the reason was too much annual income. (nm)
How about a crystal bowl or something on that

Super sad
I took three kittens home from the vet to give them extra TLC as they started going downhill. One died a week or so after coming home. The second one died a week or two after that. Tonight the remaining kitten went from playing to unresponsive in about 30 minutes. We just rushed her back to the vet but I think she's going to die as well. She's getting fluid right in her bone now and a little glucose. The vet thinks they all had failure to thrive syndrome as none of them have gotten over a pound and I syringe fed them every couple hours besides what they ate on their own. I'm trying to keep up hope for the last one that we've started calling "Little One."
So if we leave a water bowl outside for them, will they

how about some hot chocolate or big bowl of chili
I am going to make chicken with stuffing for dinner tonight and tomorrow meatloaf cause it is only going to be in the 40s for high temps.
What I do a lot and is super easy
Is just take a bag of frozen vegetables, usually whatever I have. Broccoli/caul/carrots, broc/caul... or those new steam in the bag veggies. I just cook up some kind of whole wheat pasta, whatever I have, and then throw it together with the veggies. Sometimes I add some kind of pasta sauce or even just sprinkle with parmesan. If it's one of those packages of veggies that's already seasoned, that's really good too. I don't feel like pasta, I'll use rice instead. Quick and easy and you don't feel deprived because of all those veggies.
Ahhh the memories, my mother used to bowl
on Thursday nights (30yrs ago) and she always made a crockpot of pinto beans since my dad didn't like to eat out. BTW, am having homemade chicken nuggets with a couple of very simple homemade dipping sauces.
I spoke with the super last night
to arrange this meeting today. I pointed out to him that the policies have a list (long list I might add) of things they consider as weapons but they don't list pepper spray.
I get the feeling that he is going to go with me on this and chalk it up to an unfortunate event.
Sadly, if things go the opposite direction, there is no alternative school. This is a very small town. We would have to pack up and move away in order to put her in another school.
Homeschooling is not an option.
Will followup after the meeting.
We have had them super bad for years and were told
we heard about this stuff called Tempo and we found it at our local feed/farm supply store. A small bottle around $45, but we have used last year and again this year. The trick is to get them before they come in, which is usually after the first frost. With the crazy fall we have had, hot, cold and hot again, today was 70 in WV, I think we sprayed too soon, but there are some, but not the
thousands we have had in the past. I also heard dish detergent also worked, like Ajax or whatever, we tried this last year, but also did the Tempo, so I am sure it was the Tempo.
Actu7ally A&H Super Scoop is what I use, tho' cat
It doesn't seem to be the texture so much, as I've found even softer ones (the softest being Feline Pine Scoopable), but she wants no part of it. Prefers plastic or linoleum. Have removed all litter and just used:
a) Empty litter box
b) Newspapers or paper towels -
but the problem there is it's only good for one use, then the box has to be completely washed out. Not very practical, sanitary, or good-smelling.
Grabs bowl of popcorn and puts feet up
This is almost better than watching TV sometimes.
I bowl on Thursday nights so it's take out for the rest of the family - NM

Did anyone watch any of the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet? SM
I watch it every year, but this year was particulary funny! Such adorable breeds playing running, jumping on each other, etc. I laughed my head off. The little Westie was just darling, and the little Corgie pups were so sweet.
Do any of your cats drop their toys in the water bowl?
It's the funniest thing with mine. When Lucky was a baby he'd drop his toys in the toilet and just have a blast trying to fish them out. Then he'd come jump up on the desk with me and shake his wet paws off. Lucky and Sofia both drop their toys in the water bowl. Sofia loooooooves those little fur mice. She will go to town chasing them around and then she drowns them either in the water bowl or the toilet. I have learned to check before I sit down on the potty - I think I've flushed more than one mouse away.
absolutely. its a disease, and a super prevalent one also.

Super easy homemade pizza
Very yummy and under $10 Serves 3-4
1 lb ground hamburger or 1 bag of pepperoni
1 box jiffy pizza crust mix
1 bag shredded pizza cheese
1 jar pizza sauce
Brown hamburger, drain; set aside. Make crust mix as per directions. Put into pizza pan - bake 3 minutes. Layer sauce, a little cheese, meat, then more cheese. Bake on 350 degrees for about 12-15 minutes. You won't believe how delicious this is!
English Toffee--super easy
You can put down any kind of nuts you want--if you want in a raised-sided cookie sheet.
Cook 1# of butter and 1# of brown sugar plus a little vanilla to hardball stage (I put a little in a cup of cold water and if it is crunchy, it is done).
Quickly pour into cookie sheet because it is easy to burn. Scatter one bag of chocolate chips on top and wait to melt a little before speading across the top.
Everyone loves it and it is pretty easy to make. Once it cools, you break it into pieces.
5yo Daughter cut her hair super short...
She cut it so short on the front and on the sides around her ears.... How she got scissors I have no clue, because I am in my office and she didn't get them form ME!!! URGH I am so mad!!! She had absolutely the prettiest long brown hair! I don't know what to do! I can't take her to the hair place because I have NO money!!! I spent my last few dollars on groceries until next paycheck... LOL. Anyone know a good hair site? I tried to Google some.
Actually, I am eating B&R peanut btr & chocolate ice cream in a waffle bowl...such a...

They say that, but all of us as kids licked the bowl/spoon/beaters from cake
mixes and no one I know ever got sick.
Frito corn chips in the bottom of a bowl, chili
on that with your choice of toppings - we usually put shredded cheese and onions on top. The local BBQ joint makes it with corn chips, shredded pulled pork, bbq sauce and bbq beans - SOOOO good!!
They are such super family pets, and beautiful as well! Thanks for sharing. NM

How about a super glue/duct tape combo?
I can't tell what material the broken part is though.
Love his book "The Stand" - but that was a super flu - sm
that killed you quick. From what I have read most people live through the swine flu, no deaths in the U.S. as yet I believe. Probably like any flu, the very young, and very old have the most to worry about, and those immuno-compromised of course.

Great board and a super idea! How about fall decoration ideas?
Boy's 7th B-day party
I am trying to think of a birthday party idea for 7-year-old boys at home. We usually do bowling or Chuck E Cheese-type party, but this year we are trying to not spend as much on the party because we are going on a big vacation 2 weeks after that. I am thinking scavenger hunt in the back yard, but any ideas would be great. Thanks!
B-day party
I think it was my daughter's 13th birthday that we rented a karaoke machine. There were kids ranging from 3-18 at that party and they had the time of their lives!

Kerstin...What a lovely name! Do you have a pool nearby (recreation center)?...We used to....and it was free if you lived in the township....That'll be good recreation and exercise for kids and adults. Just make sure all the kids can swim...and don't rely on a lifeguard (I jumped in once after a kid before the teen lifeguard who was chatting up a young lady could be bothered to even look up).
Light snacks after swim....Knorr Swiss spinach dip with bread and taco chips, have a mild salsa available too, barbequed pork shoulder/pulled pork, barbequed chicken of just plain old hot dogs on the grill, buns, fresh sliced tomatoes and fresh fruit salad with seedless watermelon, canteloupe, strawberries, green grapes, pineapple chunks (Cool whip adds a nice touch) for desert. All these things you can do the night before (except the hot dogs) so you can relax and enjoy the moment. Just microwave the meat. Juicy Juice Berry always works....you could add a little ginger ale to make it more effervescent.
Considering there may be so many adults, you could ask them what their tastes are and if they'd be willing to bring a covered dish or help with prep.
All that matters is that Kerstin has a wonderful time. Peace and Joy to you Kerstin and all ya'll have a happy life together.

Scrapbook party
I did a scrapbook party for 4th grade. The girls had to bring two pictures of themselves. They would decorate two 5x7 pages, one they got to keep and the other with a special happy birthday message for my daughter to keep in a scrapbook. She still loves having that and she is in 10th grade.
Party idea
My daughter turned 10 this spring. We had a birthday breakfast kidnap. The girls received a bogus invitation (their parents and I had chatted ahead of time). Instead of the party time on the invite, we showed up at houses between 7 and 7:30am on a Sunday morning, woke them up, and took them to a diner for breakfast in their pjs! It was the quietest birthday meal ever! They loved it! At each house ALL the girls would go wake up their friend. Poor kids!
After breakfast we came home and made lip gloss, decorated flip flops, and wrapped tshirts in tie dye shirts (I dyed them later and ironed on a transfer with the party date on it...).
The goody bags were from the Dollar Store and were vinyl shower totes with a toothbrush, really cool looking hairbrush, and a picture frame which I filled w/a picture from the restaurant.
I had made a tshirt shaped cake which DD decorated with gel to look tie dyed.

Looks like you are ready to party.
I'll be right over. LOL Have a nice weekend. Plan on having a couple of cocktails myself. It has been a long week.
Yes, let daughter go to the party.

adoption party
Congratulations! It'll be a grand celebration! Not many folks out there like you. Give me some particulars...
What is her name...her favorite color...favorite snack...is she allergic to chocolate...is she a princess or a tomboy?...Does she like art, music or dance....maybe baseball, or basketball, hockey?...So many factors to consider. School's already in by you...How many kids and adults will be in attendance?

adoption party
I have a 7-year-old daughter and she is into Hannah Montana and tea parties. We had a tea party this year on her actual birthday (we had a "big" party at the movie theater, thus the lack of funds! I made chocolate edible tea cups (Google it, it's easier than it sounds) day before. Have thinly-sliced ham and cheese croissants (or just cut the crust off of white bread) top them with a toothpick and grape. Slice strawberries and fan them around carefully placed mandaring oranges and pineapples(out of the can). Serve the tea cups about 10 minutes after they leave the table. Invite some girls that you know she will be going to school with, this will help her become familiar with them. Have dress up items or barbies out. Board games have been popular for us, or swing sets and outdoor play. Ask the other mothers for guidance here. You can find lots of other simple ideas at birthdaypartyideas.com. Love the site and use it all the time. Good luck. It sounds like you are already on the right track.
Adoption Party
If it is hot still where you live, why not have an ice cream sundae party. We have done this for the kids a couple of ways. Once we got parfait cups from the DQ- they were happy to donate some, and bought ice cream and different toppings and sprinkles along with some fruit. Another time, with a group of boys after school we used a piece of gutter (new) about 6 feet long and let the boys make a huge banana split with all the fixings and Reddi Whip in the can. They loved making the huge dessert and it was a lot of fun for all. Just an idea.
party food
Ever had Apple/Cinnamon pizza? 1 can refrigerated cinnamon rolls, 1 can 21 oz apple pie filling, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 tblsp. melted butter. Spread c. roll dough on either baking stone, pizza pan, etc. make sure it is really together with no holes in it. bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes. In the meantime, melt butter and mix butter, brown sugar with apple filling. take dough from oven, spread with filling, bake another 8 minutes. Let cool. Put icing from can of rolls in microwave for a few seconds to thin out a little. When pizza is cool, drizzle icing over top. This can be made with peaches, too. I always get rave reviews with it. Have fun!
