Sometimes local rescue groups will help you to get your pet placed in a good home. I would do this before sending her to the pound or placing an ad.

Just got a foster dog from a local rescue group
Very sweet, but has a bad cough that's been going on for over a week. I've been asking the rescue group if I can take him in to the vet, but they keep saying no. I don't have a job, so I don't have the money to do it myself (I do have the time). I'm certain the rescue group is concerned about money, but this seems unfair to me and the dog. For all I know he could have any number of things wrong. They are telling me it's a cold, and to just wait until he's better before he goes in to be neutered.
What's the right thing to do? What should I tell the group's organizer?

I got my dog Walter at a boxer rescue and he looked like a boxer pup but I quickly discovered (sm)
He was either a mutant boxer or not even part of the litter I picked him from. He had the jowly muzzle all the pups had, but he was huge. He seemed to be the same age as the rest of the litter, you could tell by the eyes and the teeth, but he was kind of like the big clutz of the group. But oh so cute. He turned out to be huge and like a lab/great dane mix. He has the short fur of a boxer and the big chest, and I now think he either was an orphan puppy who got put in with the litter or mom had another mate. Either way, I am so happy he is the one I chose, he is such an interesting character and a really stunning and majestic dog. Still a clutz though, he falls down over himself on the beach and stairs. And he is so tall he prefers to sit on top of the stairs on the deck with his front paws a couple steps down. But I've always had rescue dogs and they are so special.

The more you are around people you can feel comfortable with, the better.
I'm shy too. This field is very difficult if you are shy, since, even when I worked in-house, I was just sitting there with headphones on.
Also, another tip, having girlfriends are a good way of meeting boyfriends. It's difficult, I mean, socializing can actually seem like another full time job, but do it. You will be happier for it.

Actually, certain religious groups have to earn their
way to Heaven by "saving" people - getting them to hear the salvation message and be "born again"...They keep a tally, and believe that God keeps a tally, and first of all earn their place in heaven and then lots of bonus perks - some jewels in crowns, certain seats at the big old banquet table, positions of authority, etc. In particular, the Jehovahs' W group focuses on this. Poor things - they want us to believe that Heaven is for everyone, while they are busy earning bonus points - sort of like the old Green Stamp days, or earning frequent flyer miles! So, they don't care that they are obnoxious and in our faces - they believe this is what they have to do, and it has its perks in their sick minds. Poor things. And I believe this confrontational style in any religion turns away far more than it saves - even THE savior was meek and nonconfrontational - he never forced himself on anyone - but some just don't get it...though they will some day.
Floaters in older age groups
are not uncommon. I have had these over a year but they have been having little babies today it seems like.

Criminals should be divided into groups SM
according to crimes committed. Nonviolent or violent. To place nonviolent drug-related crime people in prisons with hard-core inmates is crazy. First time felons need rehab. Prisons are just making it worse. Ever see shows about prisons in Europe? Sheesh, like night and day.
By the way, I've never been to prison in my life and neither has anyone I know.
I've personally sat down with groups of TG people
It was a therapy/support group that I attended with my son/daughter. I was the only parent there. My child was never molested or had any such issues you think are common to "gay" people you are acquainted with. None of the TG people I have spoken with expressed concern about any past abuse. The main issue that everyone had in common and kept discussing was the crushing rejection they received from society and their family. Many were shocked and envious that I as a parent was at the meeting, because their own parents would no longer even speak to them.
If a child is born with gender issues, we make it very clear to them the minute the issue arises that we don't want to hear it. We accuse them of making a choice and judge their choice is wrong, so we punish them, we try to silence them and make them stop the nonsense. So they learn to hide it and handle it alone. IF they make it through puberty without suicide, as adults they tell us it still exists and they must face it. What do we do then? Accuse them of duplicity because they faked being "normal" for so long (after WE forced them to), punish, ignore and hate them, cut them out of the family, weep and moan from the shame of it all and what people will think of them and us. We even tell them we'd prefer they were dead! Because we'd rather deny and eliminate our own child than deal with THIS problem. How very sad for us all. We need to focus on what is wrong with US that we would react this way to a loved one with a very tough problem. Only then can we work on how society sees it.
So for every transgendered person you hear of - know this - they are dealing with a horrible backlash from the people they love AS WELL as the gender issue. Most of them contemplate suicide daily (statistically 50% do commit suicide - the other half that die untimely deaths are murdered). Despise them if you wish, your opinion won't make it go away. The next transgendered person born could be your child or grandchild, your neice or nephew, your best friend's new baby. I pray they will each have someone in their lives that will love them anyway, who doesn't choose gender as more important than the human being.

Anyone out there love a musical group (or person) but are too embarrassed to admit it. You know, the kind that your friends make fun of but you secretly say to yourself, I love that music. - Mine are:

There are groups that have protested at people who have died of AIDS but
I really do not know if same group or not. One person's name who comes to mind is Ryan White, the young kid who contracted AIDS through blood transfusion as small infant. What an horrific thing for a family to have to go thru, first a diagnosis like this to have a loved one die and then for people to say they deserved it? This world is really not right. I think it is only getting worse.

Rescue has a dog that needs
fostering, and I have said I'd foster it.
It's a Siberian husky, a lovely young adult, judging by his picture. If he hasn't been named I'm thinking of Juneau.
I'm excited, but DH is not happy, which I don't get at all. The rescue organization pays for vet fees, so all we have to do is love him, do any training, feed him, walk him, socialize him, and keep him safe. I'm hoping he and Sasha will make use of the back yard. Our CJ was a snugglebug, but had no use for outside play, and Sasha expects me to play chase with her through the house 3 times a day.
I would definitely rescue him if you like...sm
him. He would be much better off on your screened porch than out homeless. At least he would have a place to sleep and food. He would also have vet care and someone who gave him attention.
Is there a dog rescue in your area?
I would call them ASAP. They will probably know exactly what is going on with her. They may have meds to treat her too.

Yup, it's good for animals in distress too - my aunt carries it in her car in case she finds a critter that's been struck by a car or something! It calms them right down.

I have 3 rescue meals (sm)
1) Southwestern Chicken in a crock pot - 4-5 ingredients
This works either with or without the chicken. The chicken can be breasts, tenderloin strips, or legs, doesn't matter.
2 cans corn
2 cans black beans
1 large jar salsa
sour cream or cream cheese to taste
chicken if desired, as explained above
Toss it all in the crock pot, set the crock to low. Come back 3-4 hours later and eat.
2) Chicken casserole, Easy Style
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of celery soup
Mix the above up with 2 cups of instant rice on the bottom of a casserole baking dish. Top it off with chicken breasts or strips. salt and pepper that chicken to taste. Add whatever other seasoning you want to the chicken while you're at it.
Bake at 350 until the chicken is done.
3) If you have an Aldi, their stir-fry chicken or shrimp in a bag for $3.99 is really good. If I'm feeling extravagant, I toss in an extra bag of jumbo shrimp for another $3.99. Cook according to package directions in about 10-15 minutes total. Cook a cup of instant rice to go with. Feeds 2 adults easy, sometimes we get the kids to take no-thank-you-bites of that one (they're not big fans of veggies, LOL!)
I am a member of a rescue
Wow. What it sounds like is your "friend" is a lazy good for nothing.
I belong to Ohio Pug Rescue. It is a volunteer organization but we do have fundraisers, yearly dues, take donations, etc. and four times a year, the money we take in and the money that goes out (and what it went for) is published for all members to see. (One year, I couldn't think of a thing I wanted for my birthday when the girls at work asked, so I asked them to buy dog food, dog toys, dog shampoo, *anything* dog. I ended up with a great donation for our rescue). We ask no questions when someone wants to give up a pug and nobody makes any money. We constantly have pugs coming in and they are automatically spayed or neutered, have any health concerns taken care of and have a teeth cleaning with possible extractions. They are sent to foster homes until they are found a forever home (and believe me, we're strict about who can take one in). Yes, there is a fee for the rescue pug - around $200-400 depending on how much vet work had to be done, etc. But again, we all do it for free. Any money left over, if there is any, is kept in the account because there are always new pugs coming in that need something.
Our volunteers volunteer in different capacities - some travel to pick up the pugs, some foster, some do the fund raising or whatever. My name and phone number are with all the local animal shelters and with the local dog warden should they have an unclaimed pug they're going to put down.
Is there a way you can get completely out of this thing you started with her? To me it sounds like she started making money on it and just squeezed you right out.
You may just have to cut your losses and maybe consider starting another rescue. Or, do a Google search. Perhaps you can join an existing local rescue. Bless your heart for caring. I walk our dogs in a field and around a plaza and there are about a dozen cats (I'm not saying this to be funny) that live behind the Chinese restaurant part of the plaza. Someone feeds them, has provided shelter and water. My neighbor took one of the cats in several years ago (it wandered up onto our street). Last year, we took one in that followed me home from a walk. We took it to the vet, got tons of mites cleaned from his ears, got him all his shots and had him neutered. I made him stay inside for a week (he loved to follow us on our walks, staying just a yard behind). The firt time I let him out after his surgery, he was run over by a car. How does that go? Que sera sera? I won't take anymore in. $300 in vet bills and a dead cat. He grew up an outdoor cat, there just wasn't any way I was going to be able to keep him indoors.
So, pugs it is and pugs it always will be for us. :-)

The best way is to run an ad in a newspaper. I always use the neighboring bigger city newspaper and have had wonderful success. I also run what we call 'e-mail campaigns' with pictures and information, also with success. ALWAYS ask for a reasonable fee. Our adoptions are $90. There are good people out there looking for older, settled dogs...just got to get the information to them. If you do go this route please really listen when you are on the phone with them. If they start talking about having wanted a young dog or puppy, they are not the right choice. State in your ad the age and temperament. Also, the prospective adopters come to my house and visit the animal first with the knowledge that it is a meeting only....to see if they like the dog and if the dog likes them. Again, it has never been a problem. Good luck.
Calling Animal Rescue-sm
I only have a couple minutes here since I am working but will check responses later today. I did something today I never thought I would do, called the police and animal rescue on a dog owner. I've been kinda watching the family that owns this golden retriever not far from where I live as he gets tangled on bushes and cannot get out of the sun and today I went to untangle the poor thing from a bush and noticed he seemed very sick. I figured he was nearing heat stroke as he was panting very, very heavily, glazed eyes and unable to stand so I called the police and then called animal rescue. I think I may have been too late. The police tell me he may not make it. They came with Animal Rescue, took pictures and took the dog with them. I'm just sick over it. We have a golden and he simply cannot take the heat at all. The breeder said for us to keep him in AC for the summer so we do. I plan to call Animal Rescue later to find out how he is. I wanted to take the dog myself from the house but figured I could get in trouble over it. I think I did the right thing. The poor guy was just flopping around and could hardly hold up his head let alone stand up. I hope they get charged with animal neglect. It's a young family, work all day, couple of kids who hit the dog and they tie him out at 6 am and bring him in at 9 pm. No life for a dog. 
how about a Yorkie rescue organization
Most breeds have rescue operations for their specific breed. I wish I would have known about breed rescues when I got my dogs. I would have definitely gotten them from the rescue instead.

At the rescue where I adopted my cats, they have - sm
volunteers to clean cages & feed kitties, and one day when I was there they had a girl (about 12 years old) who was actually getting some kind of school credit for coming every day to socialize and play with a large litter of kittens so that they'd be adoptable. It was so cute to see her in the kitten-room playing with the little feather-wand with them. They were jumping all over the place, climbing in her lap, etc. They LOVED her! They ALL got adopted, (and they were all BLACK kitties, too!) So that girl did a wonderful service to all the kittens.

There are greyhound rescue people who SM
help get them adopted after their racing career is over. The ones I have seen are beautiful and well-behaved. You could look into that.
I'm a cat lover, but I have been very impressed with these beautiful, well-behaved dogs.

i have a special place in my heart and life for rescues and feel the need to speak out on their behalf. if dh passed by them all, then this must be the dog for your family.

on Thursday. She's a 7-year-old Exotic Shortnair Persian with the cutest little personality and face! Her tongue sticks out all the time (VERY flat face!), and she's tiny, only weighs about 5 or 6 pounds. She looks a little bit like "Yoda" from Star Wars. My other Persian is interested, but still feeling threatened and hissing a lot. But today, only 2 days later, they're at least coexisting peacefully. Hopefully in a few weeks they'll be FRIENDS.

She is 8-1/2 years old.
The purebred was a rescue. The others are half-husky. I respect
several books on wolves. They're not "pets" like most people have, she has a sanctuary.
Get some B-stress vitamins, Bach Rescue Remedy spray (sm)
Valerian Root to help you sleep. If all else fails ask the doc for something temporary for stress. I have been so stressed out before I couldn't stand it. Best wishes to you! I hope things get better soon. Take a day off!! A mental health day! Be lazy, take a hot bath, take a long walk.

If you are afraid of confrontation with them, maybe call 911 and let the police handle telling them. This way if they do anything flaky like try to file charges you are covered by telling the police your story. Please give yourself a break, who leaves their dog out all day so that it can sleep in the road? They are lucky he had not been hit before this.

We want to be looked at as professionals but
and just to say this post might be deleted but at least I have put down what I think. There are so many posts on her where MTs have lost the luster that we once had. I worked out of the home for 30+ years so it is a real privilege for me to have a job now that I don't have to leave home plus put up with traffic, plus put up with supervisors standing close by, plus office games others play and I could go on and on. I see posts on here on a very regular basis about how to tend to kids, how to really have a schedule, fitting time in for the laundry, etc. As long as MTs come across like this, how do you think the work force feels when they hear this? I went into this because I loved medicine and was above par typist and have made a really good living doing this. I have put aside all else while working, inhouse or out. When I have certain hours, unless dire emergency, those are what I work. I do not answer the phone, chit-chat with neighbors, take care of ironing, nothing else. I put my mind on my work and others should do the same. Working at home is a real privilege, not something to be taken advantage of.

I would see the devil. Yep, my mom was very religious. I actually didn't believe it. As a curious child I would stare into the mirror because I wanted to see him -never happened.

and no we just have a regular chainlink fence. We had the fence put up when we moved here 6 years ago for our dogs. Our first cat (11 yrs) was an indoor/outdoor cat before we moved here but was a bit timid so stayed very close to our old house but goes over the fence here all the time.

I did not know what I had until I looked at the site
and it has worked for years for me. Having said that, in the process of having tooth implant in upper front, guess my canine tooth, not sure, the 1 next to the big 1 right in front. Very expensive, hope it is worth it. The flipper on bottom, works great!
Thanks...I looked up online and what I did was sm
picked it up in a very soft cloth and just looked to make sure it didn't look injured. There was no blood but I am not sure. I took the blanket and put it as close as I could guess where the nest might be. I will check later to see if it is still there. What I read says that the mom's come back once a night to feed the babies and to try to put them back in the nest if possible and that she will call them all when she comes to the nest, so hopefully we didn't miss that window and the little girl or guy can be snuggling with mom and brothers and sisters soon. I feel so bad for the poor thing :(

I am going in on Tuesday to get looked at - sm
and no, I do not want any more kids so hoping it is menopause going crazy all of a sudden. DH has been wanting me to get a TL for ages (and of course he won't get a vasectomy, one of those guys) but I was not ready to do that at 38....still at 43 I just don't want to do it, but not because I want more kids just all the horror stories, was thinking about an IUD or Essure (but did not want metal coils in me in case I ever needed a MRI since Essure is permanent) actually but now I might not have to worry about that either. I will get the exam and biopsy and see how it all goes, one step at a time, not going to work myself into a tizzy about it, no point.

careful what I buy and who made it. This was all made overseas. Just junk and not cheap.
